Never go to this taco bell bad customer service. And they put very little meat in their taco and burrito.

Deanda Siding Shingles - replaced shingles top half of building

    Deanda Siding Shingles

    (4 reviews)

We just wrapped up a project with Ricardo and his crew at DeAnda Siding Shingles and we cannot be…read morehappier! For our bungalow home, we had a lot of damage on our shingles on the side and the back of our home. Ricardo started the job within a few days of us accepting the bid and completed the job in 5 days. Interview process: My friend passed along his info as there were other homes in Alameda doing the same work. Of the homes nearby that were having shingles replaced, his work seemed to be the quickest and best looking of the homes. Of the three companies we interviewed, Ricardo was by far our favorite - When we met him, he was able to identify the job that needed to be done, but he was also great in calling out a few minor improvements that should also be done, almost as if it were his own home. He wasn't a 'patch this up' kind of guy - you can tell that he is committed to doing a good job and making lasting improvements to our building. He also didn't try to convince us to fix things that didn't need to be fixed, and I appreciated that transparency. Pricing-wise, what he quoted us was right in the middle of the road, not the cheapest but not the most expensive. It hit the marks of everything we were looking for. He and his crew started the following Monday and got the work done in five days - so impressive! They worked quickly, efficiently, and left our home so tidy. When he finished the job, we noticed he even took it upon himself to do things like fix our side gate, which was hard to open/shut and helped to reinforce it so it opened more smoothly. He was able to help out with other minor things, like design/install a handrail for our stairs, demolish and haul away our deck (and even some other junk we had). Overall, our shingles look great and for anyone looking for someone who will go above and beyond, Ricardo/DeAnda Siding Shingles is your guy!! Thank you so much, Ricardo!!!

They completed the job quickly and the price was quite reasonable. Also, for me, it was important that they were aware of and careful with the plants in my garden, going out of their way to make sure nothing was damaged and also that they were very thorough in their clean up (on a daily basis). I still haven't found any nails or shingle staples in the area they worked. As contractor interactions go, this was truly a 5-star experience.

From the very beginning, the communication was seamless. They were responsive, professional, and always kept me informed throughout the entire process. I never felt like I had to chase anyone down or wonder what was happening next, which made the whole experience so much easier and stress-free. They were also extremely fair and transparent with their pricing. I received a great price for the quality of work, and I really appreciated that they took the time to work with my budget rather than trying to upsell me. The combination of excellent communication, quality work, fair pricing, and professionalism really stood out. It's clear that Golden State Builders Group cares about their clients and takes pride in what they do. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them!

Since this will be a detailed review, including photographs, and since not everyone may want to…read moreread through all of it, I'll list the main takeaways up front: 1) This company prioritizes keeping to their schedule over doing the work correctly. 2) There is a serious lack of oversight on projects. I also want this review to be balanced, so I'll say up front that there were certainly a number of thing that went well in my siding replacement project. But enough things went badly that I regret having chosen Golden State Builders to do the work. My project involved removing 60-year old cedar siding and replacing it with t1-11 plywood siding on the front of my house. I planned to stain rather than paint the siding, which is admittedly an unusual approach. And this entailed some additional complications, two of which I discussed with the foreman before work began. First, plywood cannot be left sitting in water. I therefore emphasized that the metal flashing beneath the siding could not be flush against the bottom, and that an air gap must be left so that the plywood can dry after rain. Regardless, the Z flashing was installed flush against the bottom (see photo below), and for long stretches tilted in toward the panels, which would have acted as a basin directing water toward them and holding it there. When I pointed this out, they removed the Z flashing, which left the underlying L flashing in a somewhat tattered-looking condition (see photo). Golden State apparently considers this to be aesthetically acceptable, and it's what's currently protruding from my wall. Second, although I ordered premium t1-11 panels for this project, such panels always vary in appearance. Some are almost entirely "clean" while others have visible patch marks or major color irregularities. I therefore asked the foreman to place the dirtier panels on the right side of my house, where they would be largely hidden by foliage, and the clean panels on the left side, where they would be immediately visible to visitors and passersby. Despite this, the crew installed one of the dirtiest panels on the left side of the house (see photo). For various reasons I did not demand that they redo this, but it's indicative of a general lack of attention to customers' stated preferences. On the right side of my house, the new siding extended a little farther out than the original siding had. Consequently , it ran up against, and overlapped with, a wood fence that touches the right wall of the house. Rather than removing the obstruction, or even consulting with me to see what I wanted done, they made the remarkable decision to bend the plywood panel at the end (see photo). This could have led to delamination and other structural problems down the road, apart from not looking very nice or professionally done. But it was clearly the fastest way for them to "fix" the problem and get on to the next job. Now, the thing about all of these issues is that none of them were identified by the company itself. And the reason is that there was no effective oversight of the work crew. The onus was entirely on me to spot and report them. Once I did so, they acknowledged them and fixed (most of) them. (There were other smaller ones I won't go into here.) But clearly, the formula seems to be: if the customer doesn't know enough or doesn't check carefully enough to complain, leave it and move on. The problem here falls mainly on the project managers. My original one disappeared as soon as work started, and consequently exercised no oversight. He was replaced by a second one once I started pointing out problems, but that second one likewise identified no issues on his own, despite the fact that some were discovered (by me) only after he was put on the job. Good project managers visit worksites daily and inspect work closely. Golden State's project managers do not do this. I would identify this as the primary issue with my project. Golden State would probably argue that the main problem was the foreman. They claim to have fired him immediately after my job, but if that's even true, it's small consolation to learn that the work has been done by someone worth firing. But I would say that the onus falls on the project managers, who are simply not doing their jobs, and on management, which is probably encouraging or at least tolerating this behavior. Look, if your idea of siding replacement is throwing up some hardie board and painting it, then these guys will probably do a decent job. But if anything more complicated or detail-oriented is involved, you're probably better off hiring a small local contractor rather than a large outfit juggling many jobs over an extended area. I wish I had.

From the very beginning, Nick stood out. While several other contractors either declined the project or gave vague, surface-level proposals, Nick was transparent, confident, and highly detailed in explaining exactly how they would approach restoring the home properly. He walked us through each step of the process--from surface prep and repair to priming and finishing--so we knew exactly what to expect. That level of clarity and professionalism immediately built trust. Execution matched the promise. His crew was exceptionally skilled, punctual, and respectful of our home. They maintained a clean job site, worked efficiently, and paid close attention to detail throughout the project. Communication was another strong point--Nick kept us consistently updated on timelines, daily progress, and costs, with no surprises along the way. He delivered exactly within the timeframe he committed to. What really set Nick apart was how he treated us--like family. There was a genuine sense that he cared about the outcome as much as we did. The final result speaks for itself: our home looks completely transformed. If you're looking for a contractor who combines craftsmanship, integrity, and clear communication, I highly recommend Bayside Builders Group for projects of any size.

They provided a very fair quote, but we ended up having to put the project on hold. When we were finally ready to revisit it, they were willing to honor the original estimate, which we really appreciated. This is our first home and the first major renovation project we've undertaken, so we were a little apprehensive going into the process. We ultimately decided to expand the project into a full remodel, and even with the additional scope, the updated price remained very reasonable and close to what we had originally expected to spend. Once the project started, everything moved quickly and smoothly through each phase. Communication was timely and responsive, which helped keep the project moving efficiently from start to finish. Tony, the foreman, and his team were extremely detail-oriented and did exceptional work. The craftsmanship really shows in the finished bathroom. Everything looks carefully installed and precise, and the tile work in particular is incredibly clean. We're extremely happy with how the bathroom turned out and with the overall experience, especially for our first major home project. We would use them again for future projects and highly recommend them.
