I had to ask a waitress passing by for some ranch (a trick, I learned to eat my mother-in-law's chicken). Of course the thigh and drum were better because they always are. The veggies on the plate were green beans, carrots, pearl onions, and potato. I don't know why people don't like their vegetables cooked anymore, but I don't like crunchy green beans. The carrots weren't exactly crunchy, but they weren't exactly cooked tender. They were definitely a weird texture. The (large) pearl onions were OK, but I would've preferred actual pearl onions rather than these that were kind of like the size of a shallot. The best thing on the plate was the potato and of course, not enough of it. I am diabetic so I did not try the whiskey cake. I'm sure it would have been delicious.

Then, they brought out our mail, which included, unlimited fries, caesar salad, cheesesteak eggroll, and a mini lobster roll. We truly enjoyed every bit of our meal. Everything was tasty and fresh. At the end, they had an option to add a dessert drink and two desserts to try for an additional $10. What a steal! Both desserts were delicious, but the lemon cake pop was definitely my favorite! He answered all about the questions about the menu with kindness and honesty. We decided to share a steak with sides and a salad. I was optimistic because the steak included one complementary side... sadly that deal probably should've been my indicator of quality. The food was not bad, but it also wasn't very good. In the restaurant defense, I did not realize it was a chain, so I'd say if you go in with expectations that you were eating at a chain restaurant you might be pleased with the output. Not having that knowledge beforehand, I found the steak to be extremely salty (it resembled a steak you would cook at home and top with the McCormick grilling seasonings -- very coarse) and the mac & cheese side to be very gritty (although the truffle flavor was nice). Despite the food being so far, we enjoyed our entire time at the restaurant and no small part due to our server. It wasn't until we left the restaurant and reflected on the evening that we came to the conclusion that the food was run of the mill and Matt was what made the experience positive. Because Tampa is such a vibrant food city, I don't imagine myself coming back when presented with the option to eat at a local restaurant; however, if I were in an area that only had chain or franchise meal options and I saw a Del Frisco's, I would probably return.

Others at my table had omelettes that they said were great as well as the bourbon street pancakes that have fresh bananas, pecans, rum butter sauce, and whipped cream. Very flavorful! Service was good. Only downfall was they close at 3, we were there at 1:30 and at 2 the staff was cleaning the place for closing. Putting chairs up, sweeping, etc. It made us feel bad like we were holding them up from leaving. To be fair we were 1 of 2 tables, so one can't blame them completely, but in the same sense if you are open until 3, perhaps have shorter hours if you have low business after an earlier time. That all said, I still recommend coming here, just go earlier than we did.

I enjoyed the 2023 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc...absolutely delicious and one of the best Sauvignon Blancs I've had. I also tried a Cosmo Martini and the "On Cloud 9" cocktail, which was not only delicious but beautifully presented with bubbles resembling clouds. Alongside the wine pairings, we enjoyed some of our favorites: beef carpaccio, Caesar salad, and colossal shrimp. To finish the evening, we shared the carrot cake, which was excellent. To top it all off, an automatic service charge was added that made absolutely no sense given the level of service we received and removed our ability to tip in a way that reflected our experience. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing visit and far below any reasonable standard of hospitality.
