I saw there was a lot of complaints about them not being helpful or sour attitudes, but maybe they don't know how to talk to regular people???!!! The first time I came to this location, I had already experienced a Gaetano's cheesesteak from the store that's further south from here. It was amazing. First time here, even though they have an example of what size each roll is ( to the person who seemed confused). I still asked questions. I may be particular about my food but I don't just order something and then complain about how it wasn't done correctly after eating half the damn sandwich. Again,!!!! So after the guy patiently answered all of my questions and we talked about other food places in Philly because I'm a Philly girl, I mg my order. I want to tell you it was next level!!!! I'm not a cheesesteak expert. More an aficionado. I have tried many in this area but not all. I've found a few decent hybrids lately( ie not the traditional Philly style) and some ok cs's very close to home. For my fav in the area I had been going 15 minutes out of the township. After my first visit here, I see no need to go elsewhere. I've known about G's for some time. I almost went a few years ago until I read the reviews. I knew back then that Yelp was not infallible, but I also did not see any need to test these reviews. Cs's were ubiquitous, to varying degrees of quality. Plenty of others to chose from. Just recently this location was named in an article in the best cs's in NJ. My go to spot was NOT on the list. Other famous and noteworthy ones were on it too. I then asked around and my coworkers who live nearby all had positive things to say( about the food) Now for the exp: My order was taken in a brusque but not unprofessional manner. It was ready exactly on time. I was greeted more warmly upon entering, and was thanked for my business. The takeout bag smelled great on my short trip home. On unwrapping I could see that the seeded roll held up well, not soggy at all. There was a good portion of meat and onions were clearly visible. The roll proved to taste as good as it looked, soft but capable of holding its contents without disintegrating. The meat was tender and flavorful, onions cooked and not raw. Also of importance, nice sharp provolone that was evenly dispersed. This sandwich at least rivaled any steak I've had in the past year. The order of onion rings was also good, freshly made and definitely worth getting again. Of note, and not that I'm aware of their dine in policy right now. But the dining room is really cute, light blue colors and a beach theme. I imagine eating a freshly made and never wrapped specimen would be even better than takeout. On my next visit I may try one of their special steaks. There is one with grilled tomatoes and cheeses that sounded really good. But I don't think you could go wrong with any steak here. Since our favorite road-trip location wasn't open, I found the next best option for a cheesesteak in NJ. This was a small restaurant & we were the only ones in there at 1:15pm. Very cute beach-themed decor; plus Christmas of course. There's lot to see and read from past awards and funny signs posted about. I loved the old school game shows playing on the television. I ordered fries and the mini cheesesteak w/provolone, lettuce, onion, oil & vinegar, no tomato. I thought the onions would be sautéed with the steak, but they were raw (WARNING - slightly strong). My hubby ordered a "WHIZ WITHOUT - that's a cheesesteak with cheese whiz (that's all that's on it). My stepson ordered "WHIZ WITH" - that comes with the sautéed onions and cheese whiz. All subs are served on a delicious toasted sesame hoagie. Man! The taste of toasted sesame!! Mmmm!!! The steak was very good (only a couple of bites of gristle) and the mini was very stuffed and satisfying to any hunger level. We'd definitely return if ever in the area again. Kind of perplexed by the reviews for this spot! Granted, it's definitely too expensive (a 7" mini cheesesteak is currently $9.50, and that's for plain meat and cheese without any extra toppings) but the quality of the cheesesteak was pretty darn good! The one guy working there (I went near the very end of the lunch hour) was perfectly nice to me. Maybe not above and beyond customer service, but also nothing resembling rude. I liked the seeded bun and the overall flavor of my cheesesteak. In town for work and looking for something other than a chain. Found this place and was intrigued. Got a large 17" mushroom, onion and extra cheese with cheese fries. This place is legit. One of the best cheesesteaks I've ever eaten. The lady working was nice and we had a great conversation while she cooked. In all the craziness in the world it's good to know there are still some good people out there. This is a small family owned business I was happy to support. This place was a big let down after reading some of the positive reviews. Walked in at lunchtime to an empty store and a lone, grouchy worker/cook (?) behind the counter. Ordered a 17" cheesesteak that was mediocre at best. We thought we ordered wrong there was no cheese and very little meat so we went back and ordered 2 more sandwich's and fries. Fries were actually good but the cheesesteaks were terrible except for the seeded rolls. Over priced too! Customer service was worse than the cheesesteaks which is saying something!! read more

Gaetano's (Gypsy's) is the latest of a string of restaurants to open at this location over the past decades. (My all time favorite restaurant, Shank's, was here in the '70s and '80s, and since their departure nothing has been nearly as good.) Gaetano's is fundamentally a cheesesteak joint with a few other options. Their take on the traditional "steak" is to offer many additions to put into the basic sandwich in the form of sauces, veggies, and sesame covered long rolls. They also offer three size rolls from about 7" to 12". If my Mini was any example, they are all stuffed to the gills with meat, cheese, and whatever else you wanted. I had a Mini Jersey Chicken Steak with Onions, Mushrooms, Potatoes, Green Peppers, Hot Peppers and BBQ Sauce. It was huge and filling. The taste was what you would expect from that combination of ingredients. I liked it, but did not fall in love with it. There are a few downsides to take into account. First, the room was chilly when I was there on a January afternoon. It made for some discomfort in sitting there as I could not remove my jacket to really relax with the meal. Second, they did not have eggplant for my first choice eggplant parm. sandwich. Third, they used French Fries as the potato portion of the sandwich. They had been frozen and were mealy. Not good. Fourth, although I was the only patron in the place, and the two guys behind the counter were not doing anything but sitting there, they did not bring the sandwich to me, but just called out the name of the sandwich. I didn't mind the walk back to the counter after ordering and sitting down with my drink, but a little customer service in those circumstances would have shown appreciation for my business. Didn't happen. If asked my prognostication of the success of Gaetano's, I would venture to say that it would not make it at this location given the level of service, price, competition and environmental discomforts. Tender, flavorful cheesesteak stuffed into one of the best rolls you will ever sample with options like the best sharp provolone around. LOVE GAETANO'S!!!! OH, AND THEY HAVE CRINKLE FRIES!!! Not those sad, not quite shoestring, icky, everyone buys because they are cheaper fries. Honest to God CRINKLE FRIES! You can also get curly fries, mozzarella sticks, and some pretty great wings. Food is delicious here and my wife and I certainly love the quality of the food. The customer service is one star at best, they have an attitude when you call them on the phone, the make no consideration for anything when though my wife and i easily spend 50 dollars for the two sandwiches and sides we get. There hours are not good either as my wife works at the hospital and doesn't get off until 8 and by then they are allready closed. Maybee its a cultural NJ thing but i would expect a good bit more customer service overall from what could be a great local business that needs and should want my money. I was here a couple days ago for lunch and the other reviews are accurate. A large cheesesteak and a bottle of water set me back $20+. It was a bit of a surprise, since the menu over the register did not show any prices. I guess that's why. The portion was large, but who expects (or needs) a 17" cheesesteak when they order a large? I can't imagine there's that much demand for such a large portion. The grease alone from that much cheesesteak will make you sick. The taste was a bit salty, but otherwise all right. I was not a fan of the sesame seed bread. I ate my sandwich there. I have to say I was a bit put off by the place. It looks like the women's restroom was in a state of (permanent?) disrepair and was unusable. The men's room worked, but looks like it hasn't been updated or repaired properly in a few decades. There's also a few homemade passive-aggressive signs hung up in front of the counter, eluding to not giving the staff any attitude and how "good food ain't cheap, and cheap food ain't good". Between the state of the bathrooms and the signs, the atmosphere isn't very welcoming. Here's the thing, if you're local to Hamilton, you know that we're only a 30 minute drive from Philadelphia; undisputed home of the best cheese steaks on earth. You want a large cheese steak from Geno's? $9. It won't even cost you $11 in gas to drive to Philly and back. So even if they got everything right here at Gaetano's, they'd still have a hard time justifying the price they're charging customers. read more

I picked up a menu for Gaetano's a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try today for lunch and as much as it pains me to say this, I don't think I'll be returning any time soon. I was relegated to ordering a grilled cheese instead of a BLT club, as they were out of bacon, and a chicken wrap - both of which were mediocre at best. Up until this point, the experience was underwhelming but not actively bad; however, upon leaving, I discovered that the bathrooms were in piss-poor shape and I also happened upon homemade signs at the counter trying to explain away the reasons for poor pricing and service - it's Amex's fault, the supply chain for chicken wings is not stable, complain to the manager if you have a problem. For what seems like a family-owned restaurant with an inventive menu, I was hoping for more. Maybe I'll stop by in a few months to see if things have improved. read more

This place is pretty expensive as far as cheesesteaks go. A pretty tiny one is about $8 and the next size up is gigantic. If you split the medium between two people it might be a great deal. I bought two sandwiches and two drinks and it came out to about $30. My second problem is how they grind up the meet. I hate ground up steaks on my cheesesteaks so I was already kinda upset about my sandwich. I don't think I'll try again based on my problems with the price and the style of meat, but if these things don't bother you you might enjoy it. I really wanted this place to be good. I had a real yearning for a cheesesteak and figured I would spread myself out a little and not go with the usual Brothers or Vito's. What a mistake. I walked into an empty restaurant with a beach theme with an Italian name served by a guy that looked like he should be making craft beer in New Hope. Did I say I was not greeted with a simple hello or how you doin or what can I get you. Nothing pisses me off more than when I am made to feel like as a customer I am doing this place a favor by ordering and should feel honored to do so. There were three sizes of cheesesteak to choose from so I took the medium which was basically a traditional whole cheesesteak. I was not asked if it was for here or to go I was not asked what I want on it. I was given a decent sized sandwich with a lot of meat very little cheese and it was handed to me wrapped in aluminum foil. I told the craft beer guy that I was eating it here (figured he would hand me a plate) but had to ask. I had already made my decision never to return and just stick with consistency of Vito's and Brothers The clincher was when I was going to pay for my medium sandwich and small bottle of Snapple and was told it was 16.00$!!!!
