I went to Galaxie Tacos on St. Claude for Cinco de Mayo and had a really good experience overall. The atmosphere was lively but still relaxed, with a cool energy that made it easy to enjoy the night. The place had a great crowd for the occasion, and the service kept everything moving smoothly even with it being busy. Food: I ordered the shrimp, Barbados, and steak tacos, and all three were really good. The steak taco had great flavor and was cooked well, while the shrimp taco was fresh and seasoned nicely. The Barbados taco stood out too and added a different flavor to the mix. Everything tasted fresh, and the portions were solid. Drinks: I had two margaritas, and they were definitely strong in a good way. They were balanced well and paired perfectly with the tacos. For Cinco de Mayo, they definitely did not disappoint on the drinks. Service: Service was smooth and welcoming throughout the night. Even with the Cinco de Mayo crowd, the staff stayed attentive and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. The experience never felt rushed. Ambiance: The vibe at Galaxie Tacos is one of the best parts about the place. It has a relaxed, trendy atmosphere that fits St. Claude perfectly. We came to Galaxie looking for some good Mexican food and we were not disappointed. You can grab a menu and order inside of the building where you'll be given a number and your choose of tables to select. Before you sit, I recommend getting water, utensils, and some napkins. There are a variety of seating locations, high tops, low tables, benches, covered, uncovered, and even some fire pits that will keep you toasty on rare cold nights! I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegetarian options and chose a basic quesadilla with a side of rice and beans (rice is cooked in chicken stock). I would reorder the quesadilla but I would probably skip the rice and beans, they were not super flavorful and the rice was a tad mushy. I really enjoyed the range of hot sauces that was brought out to our table along with the food! My favorite were the two spiciest ones, not sure of their components or names. I would not recommend getting the tortilla chips unless you like really thick and hard tortilla chips. We will definitely be back and I'll continue to explore the menu! read more

The staff here were super friendly, and though there seemed to be a few crossed wires between the staff, everyone was nice and handled it well. The food was fresh and flavorful, I especially liked the hot hot salsa. The drinks (micheladas) were great, hot sauce not clamato! Just amazing taco's, y'all. They've definitely turned it around since the early days and it's now a fix on my 'permanent visit list'. Every taco is a little boat of flavor, balance and deliciousness. I'm an addict for their fish tacos. Perfectly battered and fried to crispy perfection. You don't need to smother it with any sauces, just a dab of lime n it's divine. I dare you to try and eat just one; the Barbacoa is my other favorite. Deep, (not too) rich, sweet medley of flavor that will have you salivating just thinking about it. Seriously, the tacos are on point. They also have a nice selection of mezcal if that's your thing. They've done a great job with the outdoor space, plenty of seating so great for large groups. Be sure to ask for those little table-spinner things they use for the flies in the Summer bc they're always trying to get in on the action. I would be remiss if I didn't mention they have the most kind staff I've run across in a while. Definitely keep this place in the repertoire, possibly the best taco on this side of town. read more

Truly, a cultural Latin oasis featuring flavors directly from Oaxaca and Mexico City. The staff in front and back of the house work feverishly to get every detail of the experience perfect. Second visit in 2 months, and both experiences my order was "lost" leading to 40-50 minutes of wasted time. First time, I placed my order at the table using the QR code. They gave my order to the wrong table. Second time, I placed my order inside at the kiosk with staff thinking it would be safer but was wrong. Decided to give it a second chance bc they gave me a free shot to make up for it. The second time, it was 3pm on a quiet Saturday without that many people there. Maybe 10 more parties come after me, small groups or couples. Everyone else gets their order within 10-15 min. They gave me my drink, but then the waitress took my number away even though I'm still waiting for food and watching everyone else get theirs. Then 50 minutes goes by until I check in and follow up, the staff acts completely shocked when they walked me many times and even tried to give me someone else's order who probably arrived 20-30 min after I did. All tacos were cold and bland without any flavor. Tacos tasted store-bought. The frozen drink and outdoor seating are the only redeeming factors. Not coming back. Anytime I asked a friend that had eaten here what they though of the food the opinions were always the same "over priced", "pretentious hipster staff", "food is ok but not worth the price" so you can see why avoided it; that is until Pablo Reyes took over the kitchen. I've had Pablo's food a few times and I am happy to report that Galaxie is in good hands. The happy hour menu is tasty and light highly recommend the tostadas. Cocktails are solid, the frozen mango Margarita was excellent. My favorite thing on the menu was the torta took me right back to the street food stalls of Mexico city. The Birria tacos "puro fuego"! Located in the Bywater made for easy parking. The atmosphere was fun, casual, pet/family friendly and all outdoors. We ordered at the register, sat ourselves, and picked up food and drinks when the buzzer they gave us went off. Our group of 7 ordered several types of tacos, chips and drinks. If you like tequila, actually if you need a reason to like tequila you should try this place out. I have tried the Jalisco Sour and the Frozen Paloma and they both were delicious and sexy. These cocktails say the word... LUXURY... I'm serious about this. We all need to feel luxurious from time to time. This is a great location to hang with friends or a date, be advised this is an outdoor location, so plan accordingly.
