Classic diner with wonderful 1950s decor. The pictures of Marilyn Monroe were wonderful. Service was prompt friendly and excellent. The pancakes were fluffy with a generous portion, excellent maple syrup, and blueberries. Coffee was refilled regularly. Overall a terrific experience. read more

This place is great!! The inside is clean and so cute with all the retro decorations. The menu is HUGE and the food is delicious! The chocolate chip pancakes were my favorite. During a recent stay in Flagstaff, we decided to stop in for lunch at the Galaxy Diner right along Route 66. This is an "old school" diner that looked like it 's been here for a long time. We went in and sat down - place looks a little rough, but let's see what the food is like. We were traveling with family - there were 5 of us total. Grandsons ordered burgers - they liked them ! The rest of the food was either average or not too good. Stay away from the Cuban - didn't really like it. Had many a Cuban and this was at the bottom. Service was excellent - our server kept checking back with us all during the meal. She kept our drinks filled all meal long ! I rated this diner as "average" with great service, but hit and miss food. read more

But they lost a star because one of the waitstaff dropped five "f" bombs in casual conversation with his coworkers that could be heard by anyone sitting near the counter. We absolutely love dining here any time we are in town. The food is always great and the service, specifically from a young man named Fabian is top notch. Even when he had not been assigned to our table he has picked up the slack and always makes the visit an absolute pleasure. In terms of the Diner's atmosphere and ambiance, this venue gets a 5-5 and really captures the essence of the 1950s Diner, which made last night's experience all the more disappointing. We ordered shakes - and the list of possible shakes was impressive - these were just fine (and the extra quantity of shake waiting in the large, steel container was perfect). However, as soon as the food arrived, the enjoyment factor dropped dramatically. I ordered the fish and chips - the fish was wildly overcooked and at the edge of inedible, with a side of what could only be described as burned toast. I pointed this out to the waitress, who insisted that I was the problem because "No one would think that was burned!" In a huff, she replaced the toast with a slightly-less scorched version that had something green sticking to it, which I did not sample. It was obvious that the "chef" (cook) had neither pride in the food nor any real skill in preparing it: our veggie burger was half-cooked mush and even the Tartar sauce for the fish was more like some kind of weird mystery sauce created by someone who had never tasted it. read more

Let me say, the two stars is for the food. It's typical greasy spoon food. Mostly burgers, shakes, fries, etc. The people are fantastic.

Live music was wonderful and the food was great! The staff was super kind and helpful as well!

Long story short, this is a novelty restaurant. Don't plan on getting blown away by the food, we got seated and it took about 30 minutes for anyone to come talk to us. Didn't talk to the host until he brought us the check. The food is alright, it's just not amazing. Hash browns were great--done perfectly. Pancakes were delicious--just the right thickness (many places make them too thick). The restaurant always serves their syrup heated...have to ask for that at most major chains. Only one size of orange juice. It was huge, price was $4.50 or so. Think it would be better to have a choice of sizes of orange juice, with lower price for smaller sizes. Large servings. Great service from Mariana. Food was decent. The milkshakes and malts were the best thing we received. The Cuban Sandwich was decent even though they got the type of bread all wrong. The service left a LOT to be desired. Took forever to be seated, then once we were it took so long to order that when the manager walked by to see how we were doing she had to take our order. Then it took forever to get the check and pay. It was like the corner booth was in a black hole they forgot about. It was neat to go to once, just to say we have been, but we won't be back. The place felt old, tired, and kinda dirty. I like an old fashion theme, but that doesn't mean the table needs to be sticky, carpet dirty and worn, and the bench seats/chairs with cracked cushions. read more

While traveling thru Flagstaff, AZ, I noticed this Galaxy Diner and realized that this is one of the iconic restaurants on "Route 66"! We decided to stop for breakfast and a "Back to the future" adventure. Of course the memorabilia at the entrance immediately takes you back in time. The place was not busy but you can tell they were short waitresses. We were seated immediately. We enjoyed just looking around while waiting to place our order. The place was dated but certainly met our expectations. Our waitress finally showed up and we placed our orders. I selected the Stuffed French Toasts, my wife ordered just plain French toast. My stuffed French toast were delicious but not quite as hot as I would like. My wife's French toast were also just ok. I finished my coffee and had to wait a while to get my cup refilled. One of the bus boys figured out I was out of coffee and offered me a refill. We were thrilled by the history surroundings and the ambience, but a little disappointed by the service; we asked ourselves if the "service time machine" became disabled during the travels thru time! read more

We went for burgers at a new establishment and were ignored so we came to our trusty old spot Galaxy Diner. We were welcomed with an inviting atmosphere and positive attitude. Although we arrived late & the kitchen was about to close the wait staff did not rush us. They have live entertainment which is always good. We have been going here for years but something changed with the burgers. And it was a good change. Patties were succulent and buns were soft and the fries were perfect. I really enjoyed the old diner theme. As a picky eater, I enjoyed the amount of simple options I had. The menu was huge and had something for everyone. The milkshake menu is probably one of the most impressive I've ever seen. The only issue we had was with the service. They were busy and I'm always patient with servers, especially when they're busy. For most of the meal, she was very good and attentive. After we got our food, she did not come back for nearly 45 minutes, which was about 15 minutes before closing and had us sitting And waiting nearly 30 minutes after we finished eating. We went to this restaurant specifically for the milkshakes, and by the time she came back, we were nervous to ask for one, but did anyways, she informed us that the milkshake machine was down for the evening and that we could not order one. 5 minutes later another server walks up to the machine right next to us and makes about 3 milkshakes. Our server never came back. So we went up to pay and asked the girl at the counter if we could order some to go. She rolled her eyes and said "let me see if we can". She reluctantly made our milkshakes and we went on our way. We're usually very good tippers ( as we have all been in the service industry) but couldn't leave more than 18% because of the blatant lie we were told after having us wait for so long. If I was from the area, I'd go back. But I'm not, so I probably won't be back anyways. read more

Its unacceptable to be out of so many items. No salmon, no roast beef, no chicken no fudge for shakes.. I'm surprised they aren't out of frys and burgers. The New York steak isn't the right cut and you managed to burn three burgers. Also portions are smaller than they used to be. Your failing epically! This is a typical diner with cool decor and nice Route 66 merch for sale. We got two three egg dishes - mine came with only two eggs (I got sunny side up, so it was easy to count); other eggs were scrambled so can't say how many there were. Bacon was super thin and fatty, looked like the cheapest supermarket brand. BLT had mostly L, a slice of T, and two strips of previously mentioned B. A B-ig disappointment. Stuffed toast was good and a portion was generous. Our waitress was very nice and helpful as we had to ask for everything: butter, jelly, water, more coffee - things one would expect in a diner...
