Food is ok but the waitress is so nice explaining. I like the hot pot better than Korean bbq. The Korean bbq meat tastes strange.

I am absolutely thrilled with this place! 10/10! I highly recommend it to everyone! I had wanted to visit much earlier, but for some reason, I kept changing my mind. Now, for my birthday, we suddenly decided to come here for dinner. Saying I was impressed is an understatement. First of all - the place is huge! It's interestingly designed in a galaxy style, very modern. The staff is incredibly kind and friendly. Everyone is quick and efficient, no time wasted. The food is excellent! I mean... I'm a huge fan of Korean BBQ, so for me, this was heaven on earth. There are plenty of appetizers, sauces, desserts... and everything is included in the price of lunch or dinner, depending on when you come. All in all - I can't wait to come back again!

Galaxy Barbeque and Hot Pot in Des Plaines is such a fun spot. Each table has a grill and a hot pot, so you can cook whatever you want right at your seat -- it's basically Korean BBQ and hot pot all in one. The restaurant itself is bright, modern, and clean, with a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to just hang out and enjoy your meal. It feels perfect for small groups of six or less -- we didn't notice any options for bigger parties, but maybe that's possible if you call ahead. The staff are friendly and helpful, but honestly, the best part is cooking and sharing the food with everyone at your table. You can mix flavors, try a little bit of everything, and just enjoy the experience together. It's casual, tasty, and a lot more interactive than your average dinner -- definitely a place I'd go back to with friends.

First time in this location and I was actually surprised to find out that it was an AYCE hot pot and kbbq together and it included some sushi rolls too. I have always enjoyed hot pot and kbbq separately, I feel like if it's together I'm always so full afterwards because I want to do both and I want to keep ordering. The food quality is really good. Service was great the location is also good parking is not an issue it's by a train station. I would definitely be coming back for more. Happy eating!

We came for a late lunch and was amazed at the service and the array of foods and sauces they have. They definitely have one of the best lunch specials around and it runs from 12-4PM, costs around $25, and includes BOTH the bbq and the hot pot (though certain meat/seafood are dinner only). They also have some light appetizers and sushi rolls, dessert buns and ice cream included in the deal. It wasn't very busy, service was fast and friendly. Our food came out pretty quickly after ordering. They were mindful of the grill and switched it out several times during our stay. The meat quality is decent, not the best Korean bbq, but I guess you sacrifice a little to add the hot pot. I had the Korean seafood and it actually came with seafood in it (imitation crab, clam, oyster, fish). It was very good, especially when mixed well as the flavor tender to settle to the bottom. They have a wide variety of sauces available, it helps to know what you like ahead of time to create a mix. Personally I go for some sesame paste with satay, soy, garlic, ginger, and other things thrown in there. They have a galaxy sauce, but I found it to be a little sweet. They definitely go all in on the space decor which is kind of cool, lots of photo worthy areas. There's a few claw machines at the front, they have plenty of seating (tables appeared to be up to 6 hot pots and one grill). There's parking right in front (90 minutes). They have a little bit of everything including seafood, and in today's economy the lunch special is the way to go!!

Super place to go with hungry friends or family. A definite unique experience with a great value, excellent decor, good service, and a nice venue. Food is ordered on an iPad with a two hour limit, all is unlimited including buffet stations. Drinks are separately charged. Ice cream cups were also available(not shown) also unlimited. Will definitely go back!

Was craving hot pot so my friend and I decided to try this place. I was excited for the all you can eat Hot pot and sushi. When we walked in they sat us right away. The servers were very kind and tentative to us during our visit. We also came during the lunch special and it was a very good deal for the amount of food we ate! The inside had lots of cute space decorations to fit their theme while also being very to their cuisines culture. We ordered the Mushroom and Thai Tom Yum broths. The mushroom broth was perfect and took in more flavors the more we cooked the meats ans veggies in it. The self serve bar of veggies, sides ans sauces had to much to offer it was such a good deal. There were so many good options! I got mushrooms, ramen, cabbage, and kimchi.. I didnt grab a lot from the options but I gpt plenty of what I wanted The sauce bar was also really good with so many options it really delivered! For meats we ordered the Sliced Pork and the Sliced Beef Belly. Both were absolutely delicious and great quality meats. For sides off the menu we ordered the fried dumplings, sausages, quail eggs and they were all pretty good. I didnt enjoy thr sausage but that's okay it was still a good sausage just not for me. We also got a side of rice but it wasn't that good, I think it was yesterday's rice.. For sushi I wanted a Philadelphia roll but they didnt have it on the menu.. I asked the server if they had it because its such a simple classic roll and she said no but that shw could make it for me. And she delivered! It was delicious! Over all just a great place with priced that cant be beat! I will recommend this place to everyone and anyone who wants hotpot!!

Good ayce bbq and hotpot spot. I'm not a big red meat eater and there were a lot of good non-red meat options like chicken, fish, and tons of veggies to grill or place in your broth. Food service comes out quick and in conservative portions so you aren't stuck with anything you might not like or just want to try. Ambiance is this space astronaut theme - hence Galaxy. Anyway - good spot and worth checking out!

Absolutely amazing atmosphere and dining. We were there for the lunch buffet, and tried just about all of the different items on the menu. To top it off. They had all you can eat ice cream while you were sitting at your table.

First time doing Hot Pot. This is a really nice location. Very cute decor, spacious and ample parking. However, if you know nothing about hot pot, this may not be the best place to try it out for the first time. So many meat options, and it was hard to really understand what to order and which item was which when it came to the table. The cooking instructions weren't super clear. Unclear what sauces to really mix together either. Others seemed to have a better handle on what to do. When we cooked the meat, many pieces were fatty/filled with bones. Cooking the noodles it was super hard to fish them out of the broth again, making the noodles over cooked. Overall, It was hot and tedious cooking all this food at the table. The sushi bar wasn't labeled either and no idea which one was which. Nonetheless, the server was great and helped us along with getting everything made. It is a nice restaurant and plenty of fresh options and watermelon too. Just probably wasn't a place we would frequent!

Nope, the price includes both. Also, if you do lunch it's a lot cheaper.

The family and I have been coming to this hot pot place for years. Everyone loves hot pot,…read moreespecially during cold weather, and my kids in particular have a huge appetite for it. We usually come here when the cravings hit or to celebrate family occasions. The prices are very reasonable and generally under $30 per person. We were last here about a week ago and it was $28 per adult, while kids were $14 (half-priced). I did notice prices increased by about $1 over the past year, but that's expected. Another thing I really appreciate is how easy it is to dine here. We've come on a Saturday night for dinner without a reservation and were able to walk right in. Most of the time, walk-ins aren't an issue, which is really nice. A while back, they used to have you mark hotpot ingredients on a paper menu and staff would bring them to your table. Over the past couple of years, they've switched to an ingredient bar at the back of the restaurant where you can grab your own noodles, vegetables, seafood, and sauces. There are empty plates, bowls, and saucers available, making it easy to customize your spread. The only items you still need to order verbally are the hot pot meats, which makes the overall experience much more efficient and you can get to cooking quickly! Here's my favorite way to make a dipping sauce for hotpot: garlic + basic soy sauce / house sauce, a pinch of spice sauce + top with a lot of green onions cuttings. And there you have it! The ingredient selection is decent including several types of noodles like udon, glass noodles, and ramen. They have my favorite vegetables like watercress and bok choy as well as some of my favorites proteins: shrimp, mussels, quail eggs, fish cakes, cubes and balls. There is a peanut sauce available at the sauce bar, but I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with food allergies or strict dietary restrictions, as cross-contamination could easily happen with the shared setup. One of our favorite appetizer items -- which is free with the AYCE and not at the ingredient bar -- is the fried buns with condensed milk. They're listed on the menu and are absolutely delicious. We usually order multiple rounds as our kids love them, and so do I. When it comes to drinks, everything is ordered à la carte. They offer soft drinks, alcohol, and smoothies. I ordered a mango and pineapple smoothie for $7, which was quite sizable and very refreshing. You can also order a single-fruit smoothie for $6. For broth options, there are only two choices: a bone broth or a spicy broth. If you have kids, I recommend the non-spicy option. The broth can get a little fatty after cooking all the ingredients in it and is enough for flavor. We came as a family of 6 and opted not to squeeze into one booth. We asked to sit at 2 adjacent hybrid booth tables and requested an additional hot pot for the 2nd table, and they were very accommodating. One of the servers also speaks Cantonese, which was very helpful for our family. One small piece of feedback for the owners: for places like this, it would be great to have disposable gloves available at the ingredient bar. I always appreciate seeing that extra level of consideration for cleanliness. Lastly, just a heads-up that gratuity is automatically added to the check for parties of two or more. Make sure to review your bill before adding an extra tip -- unless, of course, you want to tip more. Overall, this is one of our family's favorite places for hot pot when we want a no-fuss, no-cleanup meal. It's a solid experience that doesn't break the bank, especially for large families. The fact that they focus solely on hot pot -- without additional barbecue meats or grills -- helps keep it surprisingly affordable. The restaurant is also connected to a Mexican bar so your receipt is gonna ring out with that place as a vendor and this restaurant is next to "Noodle Delight" (likely same owners?) if you're looking for authentic Chinese food in a more traditional setting. We've been to that place as well and it was great, but that would be another separate review :)

We had Sang Gai Bi and the Heuk Sam Gyup Sal which was the pork belly. We loved them both. I personally like the beef over the pork but I would get both again. We also ordered a Yook Ke Jang, which was a spicy seasoned soup with shredded beef. It was not too salty or anything. It was just right! Lastly we ordered a marinated pork (forgot the name of it) and it was good, but I think we all preferred the non marinated meat better. Not sure if it's because we were already getting full at that time. Definitely recommend coming to this place. Charcoal bbq tastes so much better, although it can be a little harder to cook imo. ALL the small dishes were amazing...there isn't a small dish I didn't like. This is my new favorite kbbq spot!! This place is also super clean. But meat just tastes better bbq'd on charcoal, y'na mean? It honestly had been a decade and a half since I went to a proper charcoal KBBQ, so this was super exciting for me. The place had an old facade that was reminiscent of the "old days" for me. Not to say it was run down or anything, but everything from the floorplan to the old tables with charcoal pit installed tables reminded me of the KBBQ era of the 90's and beyond. Loved it! My family went inside way past lunch hour, so the place had cleared out and owners seemed to have been having lunch. The two gentlemen eho greeted us gave out father and son energy, but I couldn't be sure. There was a life sized photo of the oldtimer in a marathon getup hanging on one side of the shop entrance, which he explained was taken a decade ago. I could tell he would have been around my father's age, but seemed super healthy. A pleasant man for sure! It may not necesaarily be a good thing for owners, but I love it when there aren't too many patrons around, because it means that I'll get all the attention I need from them, when I need. It was certainly the case here. They were super attentive when we needed something. To be fair, we knew exactly what we wanted, so it wasn't like we needed to call them every 5 minutes, but it certainly was easy to get their attention when I needed another bottle of beer. :-D My family of three order two servings of marinated galbi, contemplating on whether or not to order my wife's favorite pork belly. In the end, we were too full and were glad we stopped with only two servings. We'll just have to come back to try other meat later. This is ALWAYS a dilemma for my family. All three of us each have our favorites, but none of us can eat a whole serving. We usually end up going with my daughter's favorite every time, unless my wife and I are out by ourselves, which these days is not as often as I'd like. We'll just have to wait a couple more years for her to graduate.. Galbi (short ribs) was GREAT! Not much else to say about it, other than the fact that any meat will taste better when grilled on charcoal. With so many other KBBQs around town with more "hip" and "modern" atmosphere, I don't know how well New Seoul is doing these days, but I certainly hope they do enough business to continue to be around. More and more Korean restaurants are moving away from their traditional way of doing things in order to cater to American audiences. They may not be huge changes, but these subtle changes make people like me and my wife a bit sad because it eats away a little bit of our nostalgia each time we experience some. I hate to sound like an old man about it, but I guess it falls to people like myself to continue to support more of the traditional places like these over the young ones. Anyway, based on just the marinated galbi my family had, I must give them 5 stars!

Like another reviewer mentioned, this was cooked and prepared (Mongolian style) in the kitchen. It came out on a sizzling skillet. It tasted delicious. I completely finished the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. So good. I almost forgot about the miso soup. It was pretty standard (which is good) and hit the spot on a wintery day.
