We came one night, it smelled lovely, the decor was nice, the menu sounded great. However, after being sat a server never came and we couldn't get the attention of one. So we left, a little upset, but it was busy, these things happen. So fast forward to tonight, we decide to try again. The same exact thing happened! We were seated, then ignored. It wasn't busy, there were only two other tables, but another couple was seated a few minutes later and TWO servers ran up to give them drinks and take orders. We complained to the manager, and to her credit she apologized and was going to get a server but we were done by then. Someone offered me a gift card, but never bothered to get any info to make sure I got the gift card or talked to the manager about my negative experience. Galazio took over the old location of the Pizza Hut in La Plata. It recently opened, and is currently running a limited menu. Nonetheless, it is definitely worthy of a visit. The cuisine is geared towards a mediterranean cuisine. The quality of the food is superb. The servers are still learning the ropes, but are friendly and courteous. We shared a broiled feta cheese appetizer. Quite tasty. My wife had the crab cake appetizer for her dinner. One of THE BEST crab cakes in southern MD. I had the gyro platter. I think I like the meat at Napoli better, but it was still very good. We finished off the meal with the crepe dessert. Don't leave without trying this! Galazio has a good selection of wines to choose from. While it's a little pricey it's certainly an excellent choice for a special dinner occassion, or a nice splurge. Have been coming here for a while now and Saturday was the worst ever... they changed the menu, no pizza, no onion soup, no mussels as an appetizer, horribly overpriced and service was terrible. I have never been turned away from a restaurant. Tried to come here on 2/19/22 to celebrate Valentine's Day with my husband. We got there at 520 pm and was told they are not taking walk-ins and that we would have to make a reservation which was not for another hour and a half for indoor dining seeing as the next reservation was at 7 pm. Very poor service. Several of our group got their food and then had to wait for silverware. Our waitress was very quick at leaving us when we were trying to order things, like dessert and coffee. We were seated outside near a heater that did not work and we ate in almost total darkness. I was not impressed by the food. read more

Pizza is not offered if it is inclimate weather due to oven being outside. But on Tuesdays a cheese pizza is $5 during happy hour. Can't beat that. This is a cool local place in La Plata, MD. You can sit inside or outside on the cozy patio with lanterns and comfort seats. The food is only ok though. I don't eat meat so maybe their meat dishes are better. I'll go back though. read more

We were greeted right away by a very sweet hostess. Hot hot hot bread with oil and vinegar were brought within 5 mins. Place was busy but service was reasonably quick. Had Hummus and pita were fresh and tasty. I had the Gyro...let me say AMAZING! Fresh hot tasty. Husband had chicken kabobs they were hot and flavored well. I would recommend this for date nights. The wait staff does the best they can when busy. Owners are friendly. Price...very pricey...but so worth it. Also remember this is traditional Greek food. Not watered down or Americanized. I hate making this post because I used to love this restaurant before today! I phone ordered a crabmeat pizza called "Captain OBO's" and was headed there to pick it up. Arriving waaay too early, I decided to park on the side of the restaurant facing the outdoor brick pizza oven, thinking once I saw them take the pizza out and take it inside I would then move to the designated curbside pickup parking space. Well good thing I did, as I witnessed the kid making the pizza take my pizza out of the oven, cut it into slices with the pizza roller, then proceed to pick crabmeat off the pizza and eat it with his fingers. He did this at least 5 times all while even making occasional eye contact with me in my car (which was facing him), obviously not knowing I was the customer that would be waiting on that pizza. Being this brazen about it though told me that he probably does this all the time. He then boxed up the pizza and took it inside to be delivered to the unsuspecting customer (me). I immediately called the restaurant and canceled my order and explained what I had witnessed. In the restaurant's defense, the lady that took my call seemed genuinely shocked, embarrassed and upset about his behavior and said that she was going to "talk" to him. In my opinion he should be fired for that, but either way I can no longer eat there after seeing that, which sucks because the food is usually great. The husband and I went to Galazios on a Friday night on the recommendation of a co-worker. We totally forgot it was restaurant week in La Plata, but that only made the experience more pleasurable! When we walked in, there were quite a few patrons ahead of us (30-45 minute wait), but we decided to wait and so glad we did! The hostess was PHENOMENAL! She was friendly, efficient and very accommodating. I don't remember her name (ugh!), but I do know she sings in the chamber choir at St.Charles High School - best of luck at the state competition! While we waited, we perused the menu and we stood out like a sore thumb to the regulars because everyone kept asking "is this your first time?", and they made food recommendations as well. After about 45 minutes, we were seated. The noise level was a little high, but it was doable. Our server, Ruba (I hope I spelled that right) was AWESOME! She was attentive and friendly. We ordered the flambee saganaki (on a recommendation while we were waiting to be seated), filet mignon with mashed potatoes and kale, as well as the ribeye with green beans and creamed spinach. EVERYTHING was INCREDIBLE, even with it being restaurant week! The steaks were cooked just right and seasoned well. The sides held their own as well. We didn't try the dessert - that will be on the next visit because there WILL be another visit. TWO THUMBS UP to Galazios!! A little gem in La Plata!! We had such a wonderful dinner a few nights ago. I called to see if they take reservations because I had read it was recommended. We went on a Saturday at like 6:45, had a nice crowd but no wait. We started with the drink special, a house lemonade which was lemonade with cherry vodka I believe. Tasted sweet but good, however I could barely taste the booze. For our appetizer we chose the Spanakopita and my fiance and I both loved it. We cleaned the plate, the pastry was so light and perfect . For our entrees, I chose the Greek chicken kabobs. They were exactly what you would expect and delicicous. Came with rice and pita bread, and of course the chicken, peppers and onions on the hanging kabob. The Tzatziki sauce was the best I've had! I couldn't get enough. My man got the Pastitsio (greek lasagna basically) and while it was good, it had a strange overpowering spice we couldn't figure out, maybe too much nutmeg? We use to love this place but it is going downhill. The ribeye steak is not the same steak that they once served. The quality is far superior. The steaks are not only smaller (and they are charging the same price) but they also lack the marbling which makes a ribeye so juicy and full of flavor. They also have been coating the steaks with a thick layer of coarse salt which crunches when you bite into it. The last 3 times we ordered calamari, it was served different. The first time it was soggy and undercooked, the second time it had a different kind of coating on it...it was weird...looked like curly fries, and the last time we ordered it, the order was half the size it normally is and again soggy. The lamb chops also appear to have gotten smaller and are always overcooked. Will never order a Greek salad again because they are so inconsistent. The last one I ordered with grilled chicken had lettuce and cucumbers that were room temperature and the chicken also was room temp and so dry and tough that I didn't eat it. Stopped ordering Pastitsio a long time ago as it ALWAYS came out cold in the center. The chicken kabobs consist of 3 pieces of quarter size chicken with a few pieces of peppers and onions served over lukewarm rice and a piece of broccoli. Total rip off for the price...will never order that again either. Won't be coming back again unless things improve. Get it together guys! read more

The food was delicious but I was very disappointed and concerned about four different employees, one of which appeared to be a manager and the other the cook, who were not wearing their masks properly. All four of them wearing their Covid masks "Amish Beard" style, which means they only covered their mouth and not their nose. That included our waitress, who every time she came to the table, I reminded her that her mask was not being worn properly. I hope management addresses this concern, or I will not return, even though the food was great. read more

Went on mother's day and tried the 3-course menu plus an appetizer. The Calamari appetizer was overcooked so the squid was rather chewy. Unfortunate because the breading was really thin, crispy, and really tasty. Could use a dipping sauce though. Galazio;s interpretation of a Grek Salad was pretty darn good and all ingredients were crispy and fresh. Might come back to sit at the bar and have a salad for dinner. Had the suckling pig which was OK but nothing to write home about. The white meat was pretty dry but the dark was nice and juicy. Served with roasted potatoes that could have used some color. Dessert was OK, ice cream mediocre. Will go back especially based on reviews from friends. read more

Today was the second time I have eaten at Galazio. The first time I went I had dinner, today was for lunch. I tried to look up a lunch menu online before going, but their online presence is not helpful. Upon arriving I discovered they have no lunch menu. I was surprised to learn that they have no separate lunch or brunch menu and no bar specials. Given the popularity of Sunday brunch, you would think they would capitalize on that sort of opportunity to do more business. It was myself and one other person for lunch today. We ordered the spanakopita, prosciutto caprese, and the gyro platter to share. The food was okay. Nothing special about the caprese, just a plate with some meat, a ball of fresh mozzarella with a dollop of balsamic vinegar, a couple of slices of tomato, and a few pieces of basil. The spanakopita was decent. The entree that was ordered was comparable in size to an appetizer. The meat was okay although very salty. We asked for a little bread to eat with the caprese- this was of course an added cost. The service was good- our waiter was very busy since it was only him taking care of tables as well as the bar. He apologized for any delay due to this. All in all I've had better Greek food. Many Greek places do much better in terms of portions. I think Galazio tries to bill itself as higher end. At best it's mediocre, overpriced Greek food in an area that hurts for diversity in cuisine. Lack of a lunch/brunch menu speaks to a business looking to gouge its patrons rather than do something nice for the community. We split a bill that consisted of the aforementioned items, we only drank water, with tip it was a $65 bill. For lunch that is ridiculous. They should think about adding a lunch menu. I don't think I'll be back. If you want good Greek, head to D.C. or Alexandria. For higher end dining that doesn't pretend to be high end, it just is, try Zaytinya. read more

I am from Las vegas, and was recently in Maryland, for the birth of my grand daughter, I happened to have dinner at Galazio Resturant and let me tell you the food was much better than some of the stuff that I get in Vegas, I had their signature tomahawk steak which was the most tender and delicious piece of meat that I have ever had this resturant has authentic Greek Mediterranean food that will make your taste buds pop the place is clean and very inviting and I had a very enjoyable time. I only wish that there was a place like this in Las Vegas. read more

Ate here for the first time last night & it was superb. The ambience was warm & relaxing. Server was friendly & polite. I ordered the grilled octopus app, chicken parmigiana entree & a side of broccolini. The octopus was delicate, buttery & slightly tangy. The restaurant is nice looking but the food quality, quantity and pricing were a let down. I ordered meatballs with Greek fried potatoes as a side. The "Greek fried potatoes" were actually french fries with Greek seasoning. I even asked the waitress if these were corrected and she clarified the only reason they are called "Greek" is because this is a Greek restaurant. So my 17 dollar dinner consisted of three meatballs on a plate for french fries. We also ordered a pasta dish that was 15 dollars and there was only 1 cups worth of pasta in the bowl. In regards to the quality of the food, nothing really tasted that great, it was average at best.
