I am so glad I made it to Galbiya for some authentic Korean food! We called in an order right before they closed, so I was thrilled to get to talk to the very nice owner who told us it wasn't too late to get takeout. Sadly I rarely take photos of takeout food (I need to do better about this!) We got dumplings, ramen, and pork Bibimbap. The owner was so friendly and shared they make homemade kimchi which was fabulous and may have been my favorite thing. The bibimbap was a close second though, it was so flavorful and delicious. I couldn't stop eating it! The dumplings were also fantastic. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the ramen, but I think it's just because they do so many other things better. The restaurant is continent and in a strip mall, with a good amount of tables. I'd really like to dine in next time so I can get the true, full experience. I can't wait to come back! read more

My husband and I love love love Korean cuisine, and when we found Galbiya on Yelp, we were so excited to try it out!!!! We drove 2 hours, and the trip was worth it!!! The restaurant is in a strip mall, with ample parking. The place is sparkling clean, and our server/ chef couldn't have been nicer!!! She proclaimed" we ordered a lot of food".. lol, but we like to try as much as we can!! Seafood pancake, dumplings, spicy pork and japchae were all excellent!!! I had the Ramyeon with beef during lunch. It was incredible! Fully developed broth and not afraid to be a little spicy. (Hard to find around here). As I put the first bite of bibimbap with spicy pork in my mouth I was sure the Lord had raptured me. With successive morsels of goodness I heard the voice of the archangel, saw doves flying in the air, and heard a melodious hosts of witnesses singing the 30th stanza of "Just as I am." You may balk at the thought of Korean food in Springfield but I adjure all Robertson Countians to subvert your daily Douglas meat-and-three stop and try this beautiful place out. It is past overdue for you to expand those cholesterol-infused pallets to a place where the ingredients, much to the dismay of a certain pizza place, are actually fresh and the food is never pre-cooked. What an excellent restaurant! The good reviews prepared me to set my expectations high but still--this place exceeded those expectations. I'm not an expert when it comes to Korean food but this ranks with (or possibly as the) best of it I've ever had. It's located in a strip mall and the interior is very basic, like a lot of carryout Chinese restaurants. However, it's clean and new and the tables are set far apart so it feels cozy. The person who took our order (who I believe to be the primary cook and owner judging by her comments to us) was incredibly nice and provided stellar service throughout our meal, from describing the menu beforehand to making recommendations all the way through to the complimentary dessert cookies and check delivery. I had the bibimbap with spicy pork. It's completely delicious and a little of that hot sauce (on the side) goes a long way. My wife had the teriyaki chicken and the cook/owner explained that she makes her own sauce having found the premade varieties which are locally available to be subpar. The sauce is boss--completely delicious on the chicken and veggies and probably most anything else you put it on. She also provided mini bowls of cabbage and kimchi, potatoes, etc. as sort of palette cleansers and delicious sides all their own. This place is off the hook. Some of the best Korean food, or any food for that matter, that I've had. It is as good or better than the food in Korea Town in Los Angeles. The owners are great people. There are many good reasons why Springfield is not the center of the culinary universe. In the past few years it has definitely improved but big leaps forward are not a part of the epicurean evolution in this part of the world. However, when a decent stride ahead occurs, it needs to be mentioned. The owners of Galbiya have taken a bold step by opening up a Korean restaurant in a sort of scruffy little strip mall along the highway in to Springfield. Galbiya is neat, very clean, bright, well set up and, while it is cafe-ish in style, it is a very comfortable place to sit. That's all very well...but what about the food and service. The service provided by a very hospitable Korean husband and wife, is exceptional. They are welcoming, friendly and just love to have a chat. The advice regarding the menu is very helpful. The food is all fresh, nothing is out of a packet and it is all prepared from scratch. I ordered teriyaki and my wife ordered bibimbop. The food was sensational and was served with freshly made sides, and rice which was freshly cooked. There was no rush, we were offered more food, often, and we felt that we would have disappointed the owner if we hadn't cleaned our plates. There was distinct feeling that we had been to visit friends for a meal...such is the vibe given off by the proprietors. If you want good, fresh authentic Korean food, and exceptional service and conversation, in a nice, clean environment, this is the place to come; and I recommend you do just that no matter where in Nashville you live. There are many good reasons why there are so many 5 star reviews for this restaurant. Finally, I offer that I have eaten plenty of food in Seoul and Pusan. we found this spot in a random search looking for something different. What a great surprise! The food was fresh, complex and rich flavors. we had Pan fried Dumplings w/ pork--- really good. Although they were unlike ones I had in other places, they were larger and the portion was generous. Hubs had Galbi- I loved it. he did as well, said some pieces chewy, but what I had were tender and delish! If I were a beef fan....I would order these next time. I hope he will order them again...so I can "taste". I had the Dolsot Bibimbap ( served in a hot bowl)- spicy pork- YES thank you- will get this again. I added some hot sauce to it, which gave it that extra level. Last- the sides- you can tell the wonderful owner takes pride in what she does. She shared with us how she rotates based on what is seasonal and fresh. She is onsite and really wanted to please.
