How can a place with the BEST HOME FRIES I'VE EVER HAD (real potatoes cut up and cooked perfectly w/ the skin on) have the worst of everything else? Most of us had omelettes. With 3 ingredients in an omelette there should be flavor. The omelette was thick and fat and OVERCOOKED AND DRY. So was every other omelette on other tables. You could see the brown cooked omelette tables away. The breakfast sandwich w/ steak was boring and tasteless too. Very disappointing. All overcooked tasteless food. The galley is a comfortable little cafe you can go to dressed as you are. The food is id say basic for the most part. There breakfast doesn't have anything over the top delicious. No herbs, not a lot of flavor, and not a lot of vegetables. Just basic and bland for the most part. I went here for dinner the other day and got a chicken and rice meal that was full of flavor but my chicken was raw the first time around. Second time around it was properly cooked. I saw another plate get taken back to the kitchen because it was under cooked as well. My advice is to stop trying to get away cheap as possible on the untrained cooks and get a chef in the kitchen and turn this place around before the grouper puts them under. read more

BEST WAFFLE IN THE WORLD. Seriously. We stopped here for breakfast heading back out of the Keys. It's a bit of a dive, but our waitperson, Tina, was fantastic and the food was quick and DELICIOUS! I tried my kids pancakes, which were also good, but my waffle was literally the best waffle I have ever tasted. It was unbelievable. It reminded me of fried rosette cookies (if you've ever had those). The outside was just a little crispy but then the waffle just melts in your mouth. You have a bottle of syrup right in the table, so you can use what you want (unlike the fancy restaurant lid that give you like a tablespoon of syrup.) Granted, it's Log Cabin, so not fancy, but tastes good enough. My husband had an omelette, which was also really good. Oh! And the home fries... my daughter was disappointed because she wanted a side of hash towns and they only had home fries. When she ate them, she said they were so good, they didn't even need ketchup! Really good HUGE breakfasts. Our family of 4 each got " belly bomb" pancake meals. One got buttermilk. Son got chocolate chip. Mine were cranberry walnut and husband got blueberry. Came with eggs and sausage $10 each. The pancakes are dense and filling. I even brought home leftovers. Good coffee. We ordered a side of banana bread after seeing all the good reviews. We stopped here for breakfast on the way back to Ft. Lauderdale airport, after spending a week in Key West on vacation. I don't think I've ever had better sausage gravy in my LIFE! DAMNATION!! If I had 2 mouths, I would have eaten twice as much!! Portions are generous, prices are alarmingly low, service was prompt, and the breakfast was cooked to perfection. I had, and definitely recommend, the Hobo, which is homefries with cheese, eggs cooked to order, and sausage gravy. A half order of the Hobo was plenty for me! The parking lot might be a little full, and after a rain, there'll be puddles to step in (as was our experience), but let me tell you, it's worth the wet feet to go get some breakfast here. read more

Stopped in here on the way out of the Keys. It is a simple little diner but the people working there could be working in a high end resort. Everyone was super friendly. This is the first restaurant that my husband and I went to on our summer vacation. We went for brunch, around 10ish. We waited about 5 minutes to get a table, and waited about the same for our server to greet us. Being manager at a breakfast/brunch restaurant my standards are a bit high. However the food was absolutely amazing, I had the smoked salmon bagel and my husband had the shrimp and grits. The cuban style coffee was the best coffee I've had and the cranberry mango mimosa was so good I just had to get two. Its a bit pricey, our bill was about $45. Excellent place for breakfast! Had the crab cake with my normal eggs and toast, great choice! Atmosphere is very casual which fits the area. Had to wait a little while to get a table, but worth it. Only complaint was I asked if I could get a cup of coffee while I waited and the receptionist told me, "it will not be long before you get a table". We left Key West very hungry. All of the good spots for brunch had over an one hour wait time. Started looking through Yelp and found Galley Grill. The pictures of the food and reviews were great, so we decided to stop. Called in and let the girl that answered the phone know that we would be a group of 19 coming in. Even though they didn't take reservations they told us that there were tables available. The food was fresh and tasty. Had a classic Eggs Benedict with home fries, a mimosa and cappuccino which was all great. We also shared a short stack of pancakes and another of french toast. French toast were a little dry. The service was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and even took a few pictures of us in different parts of the restaurant. Strongly recommend. read more

We are biking down the keys, a total of 100 mi. We stopped here at breakfast because it was the only place for breakfast near where we spent the night. Breakfast was amazing, good price, and the service was the best we have had the entire ride thus far. The waitress was very nice and they were able to get our food out fast. The Galley Grill is an unassuming place on the right side of the road going North on US 1, but the gem is inside the kitchen. They make the BEST Crab Cake Eggs Benedict I have ever had, and I am a Eggs Benedict coynorseiur! Amazing, the Blue Crab Cake was so delicious, the Hollandaise the perfect amount of lemon and the poached egg a perfect 2 minutes. My companion had the colossal Banana Walnut Pancakes, which he devoured. I forgot to mention the creamy grits :-) "Never judge a book by its cover".
