Ok, new manager, a lot of new staff... and it smells better. Wide variety of games for sale, prices are good, not great but they are good. TCG is meh, no case (no real room for it really), they have game event nights which is nice. No real single collection to go through. Tables for mini war gamers, battletech, warhammer, conquest, stars and all that jazz. That's who this store is really meant for. Great selection of paint and tools. Overall a great hobby store, if it's TCG (specifically MTG) was better I would give the store 5/5 stars. Who knows what the future holds though! If they improve this I will update this again.

I want to be clear that the staff was very kind but the service follow through was lacking. On the official Discord it was posted that customers would be able to purchase 3 packs of Lorcana Boosters and a single other item. This was not the case. The first customer to be allowed to purchase was seen buying a Disney 100 Gift Set, a Floodborn Trove, and a playmat. It's unclear if they also purchased boosters. These are some of the most sought out items and to be waiting in line and see this happen was distressing and felt wholly unfair. I missed out on my purchase of the item I wanted, while I watched this man make out like a bandit I wish the posted rules on the official Discord had been followed. I met with other customers at the Fremont Game Kastle who were also at the Santa Clara location earlier that morning who also witnessed this purchase. Fremont Game Kastle did a great job at making sure each customer only purchased one item. I'm not going to be returning to the Santa Clara location after seeing how this release was handled.

I liked this shop as it has a variety of board games but this is the reason why everyone orders from Amazon instead of local businesses. I wanted to buy Dominion second edition so I checked online and found out Amazon was selling it for 33 (with delivery) and game kastle was selling it for 38. I like to support local business so I decided to visit game kastle and buy it from there instead despite higher price. When I reached there I realized the local price for the same game was 45 and they didn't match with their own website. Lol what? I paid about 11-12 dollars extra which is like 33% higher price and had to pick up from the store. You should buy from here if you need guidance on what to get otherwise if you know what you want, other online places would be cheaper.

Do you guys buy Pokémon cards?

Hey, thank you for thinking of us! We currently do not buy Pokemon cards. I believe Channel Fireball does, you may want to check with them. Best wishes!

Do you buy yugioh and magic the gathering cards? i have a bunch i would like someone to go through and to sell them! thanks!

Thank you for checking with us. Our Mountain View location does purchase Magic cards, but our other locations are not setup quite yet. We unfortunately do not buy or sell Yu-Gi-Oh. I am not sure if Channel Fireball still does, but you may want to…

Do you host a dungeons and dragons game?

We do, you can check them out on our event calendar:…

The space is spotless, well-organized, and the staff make you feel instantly welcome. They've also got snacks and drinks on hand, so there's zero reason to leave once you've settled in. Needless to mention, unlike almost any other board game cafe in the Bay Area, they don't charge you just to sit and play. On top of that, they have a huge collection of comic books, board games, and comics-related items and artifacts available to purchase, so it's easy to walk out with more than you came in for. I love this place so much that it's always hard for me to leave. They close at 7 PM on weekends, and every single week, I find myself wishing I had just a little more time before heading out. If you want a calm, genuinely fun way to spend an afternoon, this is the spot in the entire Bay Area.

Inventory is really thoughtful, they have a fantastic selection of anything a nerdy heart could desire. Definitely recommend. My fiance also comes here for MtG events, and he has nothing but glowing things to say about this place.

When I mentioned the price on TCGplayer they responded with "It shouldn't be that cheap, must be an error" and I immediately walked out. I was not about to pay 2.5x the market price for some cards that'd fill out my collection. Despite the fact I hate waiting for TCGplayer and haven't had a great experience with them overall, I'd much rather go through them than support a business that seems to scalp and price gouge. Would rate this place a 0/5, but unfortunately that isn't an option

However, a major downside is that many items don't have price tags, so you'll often need to track down an employee just to find out how much something costs. I picked up two blind boxes during my visit. While the selection was nice, I wouldn't recommend buying them here. They were priced at $20 each, but the same ones are available online at Amazon or Target for around $14. That's about a 43% markup, which feels steep for the exact same product. If you're just looking to window shop or kill some time, it's a nice place. But for actual purchases--especially for anything you can find online--you're better off checking prices first.
