An impressive selection of strategy and board games can be found here. My friends and I came here because we've just recently began playing Settlers of Catan. They have everything thing you could need and want, including expansion packs as well as other versions. Some people might be intimidated by the "hardcore" gaming culture that can be found here, but I didn't notice it too much. The staff all seemed very enthusiastic and helpful with suggestions. I also noticed another room where it looked like several people were playing. The prices here can be a little on the expensive side, but it's nice to support you local gaming store. read more

Really knowledgeable and witty staff. I was a little hesitant to come here, mostly because I'm not really a gamer (actually, not at all). I had no idea what I was looking for, but I was lead in a few different directions by the staff and ended up with D&D Castle Ravenloft. Ridiculously awesomely fun!!! I've only played a few times, but it really is a good hour well spent. I went back yesterday and picked up Forbidden Island. It was recommended by several other customers as I was perusing through all the hundreds of games. I thought that this would be a good pick for tomorrow's Easter get together. All in all, Game Kastle is definitely the place to go if you want a superior game selection (I can't believe I actually wasted time looking through Target's game aisle... bleck). read more

My go-to local gaming store. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Price-wise, most stuff will be cheaper (sometimes much cheaper) on Amazon, but the shelves of board games provides endless inspiration for ways to spend a night of gaming. My wife and kids are addicted to the selection of dice cubes, so we have more dice than I'd care to admit. The side room is nice for playing board, card, and role playing games, but it would be nice if they kept some Febreeze on hand, as most gamers are rather neglectful of their BO (I say that as nicely as possible; still really enjoy this place)! read more

Excellent gamers' store. By gamers, for gamers. They stock all the exotic games and miniatures not found in other places. They don't bother wasting shelf space on stuff you could pick up for less at a Big Box store. Instead they have the really cool lesser-known stuff: Hasslefree miniatures, Rio Grande and Czech Games Express, Quar, Ad Astra Games, et cetera. Was finding more wonderful stuff around every corner. I found out about this place after seeing they were the only South Bay location that was hosting a Pokémon Trading Card Game League. I was dreading it was going to be like others I've been to and now avoid due to either being cramped while gaming, poor selection, poor hygene, or all the above. To say after walking in the front door I was floored in surprise would be an understatement. The staff were kind, curteous, knowledgeable, and helpful without being annoying. And their selection of games, as well as their supplies such as card sleeves and/or minis, easily equals the benchmark held by Gator Games in San Mateo. Their prices for TCG's are much less compared to Heroes or even TRU but I can't say for certain if the same applies to their large selection of board games and RPG's so YMMV. Overall, this will be my place to go for my gaming needs. P.S. If you're into the Pokemon TCG do visit this place on Sunday's and the lady who runs it, Susan if I'm not mistaken, is awesome especially if you're a first-time player. read more

Pros- They aren't afraid to actually carry product, like some game stores in the east bay area. They carry all the minis games, if you are looking for a particular item, they probably have it. Amazing selection of brands for hobby materials for miniatures; parts, paints, additives, primers, modeling materials. Lots of terrain kits, some things I thought were only available online. Gaming space. Cons- Very small observation about decor of the store, its very utilitarian and could do with a bit of redecorating to push it all the way. This is just a suggestion, and not worth a loss of stars as this place is very substance over style. read more

I've been to many games stores, and this one, while unassuming, was great because of the prices and friendly staff. I was looking for model paint and was overwhelmed by the choices eslewhere--this place had three staff members give me recommendations and were super helpful. I echo another reviewer who mentioned the "elite" vibe of some stores that is completely absent here. I also found arkham horror expansions at about half the price you can find online. I've finally discovered my South Bay LGS and I am quite happy. Once I go beyond the silly spelling of the store's name, I'm in board game geek heaven. It doesn't matter if I'm just tagging along with someone else who needs a game. I'll inevitably end up leaving the store with some new shiny board game-shaped goodie. And why not? They have an amazing selection and seem to have anything I'm looking for. The service there is also great. The people who work there are incredibly helpful, but don't hover over you. I have been a long time customer of this shop. For 10 years and multiple locations I have supported this business. Unfortunately, I can no longer work in good faith with this business. Their preorder program is shoddy and unreliable. I was told only 1 copy of a book I preordered had come in, and since another customer preordered it first, they had dibs. 3 days later, that book is still sitting in their back room and there's no word on when mine is coming. I'm told to leave my info with a manager. 6 days later and no one has contacted me. I come into the shop, and I'm told that maybe they'll have it soon, but they can't guarantee anything. When I asked what they would do to keep me as a customer (I have 2 other books on preorder there), they told me all they could offer was a refund. No guarantee this won't happen again, no discount, nothing. What is the point of a preorder if they can't guarantee something? I could have ordered it from any other game store and had it by now. I could order it from Amazon after I type this review and get it before they deliver. Go literally anywhere else. read more

Pretty much the best game store I've found in the South Bay area. Board games, strategy games, role-playing games, miniatures, CCGs, you name it. Plus they have several tables for demonstration and tournament play. I especially enjoy shopping there because they carry a pretty good selection of RPGs from independent game shops/presses. I've found games there that I was sure I'd never be able to find. The only downside is that it can be hard to find parking on weekends when the tournaments are going on. read more

My buddies and I game here often. It's great! Tons of gaming stuff, and a nice place to play. Wish we lived closer, but at least it's close to where I work. Amazingly, they carry historical miniatures - a nice selection of Essex, Chariot and other 15mm Ancients. Very rare to see on any shelves in the bay area these days. read more

To give full disclaimer I managed a game store for 3+ years so I am particularly sensitive to issues regarding such a place. I went to Game Kastle for an RPGA event that turned out not to have any room in it for me. Well I hadn't signed up in advance and that was mostly my fault but when I asked the person behind the counter about it I got a blank look followed by an unapologetic statement saying they only had one table tonight. So I tried again and made my reservation in advance and showed up to play in another RPGA event where I was greeted coldly and told they might not have room for me. Eventually I did get to play but the DM was uncoordinated, didn't understand what was going on and didn't have all the materials necessary. I went to buy some snacks and found them over priced with an employee behind the counter who was making change from a jar because he said he was too lazy to ring things up properly. Overall a very poor experience for both my visits, I will not be returning. read more

The friendly and welcoming staff are always happy to see people using the huge gaming space, even if we're not buying anything. They stock a couple of fridges with reasonably priced traditional snack foods and drinks (traditional for wargamers), and they don't mind if you bring your own. The selection of games, miniatures, etc. is vast. Their prices seem a little high to me, but then I tend to buy gaming materials at yard sales. read more

There is an official pokemon league here with a quite a few people who go to play. The location is not great. I wish it was closer to downtown or like in a mall. The parking can get filled up pretty fast. But wow, the people in charge of the pokemon league when I went there was so nice, friendly, and good that I'm a fan of Game Kastle. My friend told me about this place, so I went with them. This place is cool. If I were in the area kind of close to San Jose airport, I would check it out real quick. Well, I have been an official pokemon gym leader for the card game, so yeah Pokemon fans get treated good at Game Kastle. : ) read more

Game Kastle is a good, solid gaming store. They don't have everything, but have a really good collection of RPGs, board games and cards. They also have really nice folks working there and most of the fellow gamers I have spoken to at the store are willing to answer the questions that the staff cannot. I went late at night and there was an event going on so parking in the lot was kind of difficult and backing out is difficult from the small amount of room. but inside was nice, a huge selection of board games. The staff were very nice, chatty and helpful, very knowledgeable about games and great ability to help. prices are on the higher end, but pretty standard from game stores. you can probably get a better price online, but it doesnt have the service and friendliness of the staff read more

Good place. Excellent selection, of course; I go there whenever I'm feeling like getting a new Munchkin expansion. Also plenty of space for people to hang out and try out the games they bought. Point system is great for recurring customers. It takes a lot to save up the maximum amount for the biggest discount, but it'll be worth it, since it's not like anyone buys things they don't need just for the points. Pokemon League on Sundays is one of the most competitive Pokemon environments I've ever set foot in, so it's got some high calibre players there. Back room is great for D&D or any other tabletop game, as long as you can get a table, which usually isn't a problem. Also, you can sometimes find some nice treasures on the freebie table, but only if you're lucky. All in all, I like it. read more

Both Adam and Eric walked us through the store to get the items we needed, which was especially helpful since my girlfriend is going to be DMing for the very first time. Very knowledgeable and nice! I have been here several times and each time I get a different experience. They have a large inventory. most of it is either Games workshop or boardgames(YEH!) the rest is stuff that looks like it has been sitting around for far too long. Keep in mind that I have had several people that frequent the store more then me mention the staff has an annoying habit of moving things around on almost a weekly basis. They are nice enough to provide you with a space to play which is great. However I recommend you be a little wary on which days you choose to use that space. When it gets crowded it gets noisy. And when I say noisy I am talking about to the point where you have to yell to talk to the person a few feet from you. Also the crowds seem to bring out the ever popular smelly gamer and plumbers crack(EEW). I am a boadgamer at heart and I will say they have one of the best assortments of games outside the Internet. If you go there to just grab something that catches your fancy then you are in for a long time, too many good choices. I do recommend you go on a Friday they have one guy, I think his name is Andy, who really knows his games. Word of caution if you go there looking for a specific game I highly recommend you remember not just the name but who publishes the game. for some silly reason they feel they have to sort the game by publisher not by game title. For the most part they are polite and have some knowledge about one part or another of gaming. But that all depending on which employee you get.. If you are trying to find something they will try to help you and will even go as far as searching in the back to see if they have it there for you. Most the time they do or will order it for you. There is one that I have run into that on occasion that I really try to avoid. I have had her tell me things I knew were not true to me directly and others. if it was not for the great selection of games and it really being teh clsoest too me(endgame is too far away) I woudl have given this a 2.5 stars read more
