I'm hesitant with any recommendation from DDD because the others I've tried haven't been great BUT Aiea Bowl's food did not disappoint. I went with combo that came with their fried chicken and loco moco. While the burger patty could've used more seasoning, the portion size was massive and the gravy was hella good. The fried chicken though, easily the star of the show. So damn good. My partner got the oxtail soup, which was alright. To end the meal we got one of their crunch cake, and I wasn't even hungry but we crushed this. Safe to say we enjoyed it. The service here was great. I think the prices match the portions here. Shoes were included in the cost. The shoes were newer and clean. The computer screen at your lane to set up your bowlers was really easy to navigate. Not complicated like back in the day. You're able to request the bumpers on the computer screen when setting up your bowlers. There's also ramps for the ball that kids can use, usually located in the corner off to the side. The parking before 4pm on a weekday is horrible. Everyone on Shafter is at work during that time. So they park there as well. Since it's hardly any parking on Shafter. I came at 9 am on a Thursday and walked 5 minutes from my car to the door. The pro shop here does offer to help you pick bowling merchandise. Based on your bowling skills. The bar is pretty cool. It has a lot of monitors that are playing sports or other programs. The sitting area aint too big (pic) but I imagine very crowded on the weekends. They even have inhouse bathrooms that wasnt too clean but not nasty either. The food is all bar food such as burgers fries tacos fish and chips etc. I'm not commenting on the drinks because I dont drink. The service was kind of slow, but then again we went on a tuesday just before 5 pm. They had three staff that we could see. A bartender, a waiter, and I guess a host. The kids only wanted to bowl one game so I paid for that plus $5 shoe rentals. They have a 3% convenience fee for using credit cards. Once we started the game, the kids were going through frames quick since they were guttering a bit. They decided they did want to play another game and the lady accommodated the last minute change and added the extra game. The cost did go up to the junior rate of $4.50. They announce that all games must be completed by 11:15 for the early bowl. I enjoyed the old school feel to the bowling alley and it seemed like everyone knew one another there. I ordered 3 bao buns with crispy pork for $15 and a spam and egg sandwich. They were both tasty and the kids loved it! Thankfully Hickam bowling center was open and just finishing their league bowling around 1145. They have fast food service in there which we ate at while we waited for the league to finish before being allowed to start. The book was good and reasonably priced! We paid for two games with the four of us. There weren't many other patrons so we had a gap in lanes between us and the next party. They were serving beer while we were there at lunch. *note: you need base access to get here so make sure you have this base on your ID card (if Veteran ID holder).
