I just wanted my key duplicated and the guy said my car has a chip in my key in which is does not, it is just a basic 2015 Hyundai Elantra. None of the lumber here is labeled or priced. And unless you're the wood whisperer, you're not going to know what you're looking at. It's damn near guaranteed they're going to take advantage of that ignorance, and you're going to get price gouged. Worst Ganahl I've ever been to by far. We went to get some wood cut by the mill. Paid $250 for the wood, and they got the cuts wrong. It took us two hours of waiting for them to get us our wood only for it to be wrong. How do you justify insanely high prices that are over 5x's higher than home Depot?? I guess they have gotten so comfortable with screwing the community they feel no need to rectify pisspoor customer service. I asked for help to find parts for fabricating a repair, I was ignored for nearly 30 minutes and then after I found what I could use (no thanks to their customer service) I find out that these parts I found are nearly a quarter each that HD sells for 5¢ each. We are building a home from the ground up and chose Ganahl Lumber to assist us because we required lumber in sizes that Home Depot doesn't carry. The employees in the lumber department were super competent, friendly, and they get 5 stars. However we made the mistake of ordering windows and a door from Thomas in the windows and doors department. From the minute we were introduced to him, he left a bad taste in our mouths. He barely made eye contact and had zero personality. Yet, we still placed our order totally over $3000.00 Fast forward to our window order was past due...we call, leave voice messages, emails, all unanswered. Therefore we called and spoke to another representative who said the windows were there. Wow, great customer service and appreciated the heads up (insert sarcasm here). When Thomas decided to grace us with his returned email, he informed us that one of the windows was damaged. It was a basically take it or leave it situation or wait another 14 business days for a new one. The icing on the rotten cake was when we set up a delivery while we were in the store on a Tuesday to have the order delivered that coming Thursday and he gave us a window between 12-2 PM. After waiting the two hour time frame on Thursday with no delivery, we called Thomas who unapologetically said, "I don't have it on my schedule." I attempted to refresh his memory from two days ago and he couldn't be bothered to find a care in the world and offered up, "Your order can be delivered between 12-2 on Saturday." Gee thanks, can we wait another two hours after you already wasted our time? Then I asked to speak to his manager and unfortunately his superior was as lacking in his customer service skills sharing a common belief that the customer is always wrong. After expressing my dissatisfaction with dealing with Thomas of the "Walking Dead," the manager quickly dismissed it off as it being "my side of the story" and it was merely "miscommunication." Only after I posted my Yelp review did we ever hear any version of Ganahl accepting responsibility. If at any point Thomas would have had a pulse and had an ounce of concern, we would have accepted it as an honest mistake. Every single encounter with Thomas has been nothing short of frustrating. We will be ordering the remainder of our doors and materials from Home Depot because Ganahl does not have the level of customer service to match their higher prices. read more

If you're looking for better quality materials, albeit lumber, trim, plumbing, tools, etc., this is your place. We've been customers of Ganahls for decades. Nice to have this location close to home. They have excellent service, and here's proof. While they don't carry everything, they have a knowledgeable staff that can direct you to where you need to go. We were having significantly poor appliance purchase with Sears (they promised delivery on Saturday, only to change it to Tuesday AFTER we purchased the cooktop). Anyhow, my husband asked if they sold cooktops, no, but they advised we go to Pacific Sales Appliances, owned by Best Buy. Because of this suggestion, we not only saved $300 in comparison to what we paid for at Sears, but we were able to walk out with a cooktop immediately!!!! We called and cancelled our Sears order! I also noticed that none of the employees greet you as you enter or offer their assistance on each aisle like how Home Depot does. This place is awesome. First I was greeted when I entered and I needed to buy wood and have it cut to size and rounded for a home project. They did everything for me, got the wood and put the order in and I was able to pick up my special ordered wood the very next morning. Loved that. When I went to lowes they told me I could get one cut per wood and they only did straight cuts... On Saturday, July 20 2019 I was wrapping up my to-do list and stopped by Ganahl Lumber in Buena Park for a couple gallons of Benjamin Moore paint. Long story short...they close at 4:00 pm, it was 3:20pm and the store had just closed EARLY!!! I was in a jam since I had scheduled a job for Sunday am and the customer is a stickler for BM. I called ACE Hardware in Fullerton and thankfully they carry BM, within an hour problem solved. Never again will I plan on getting materials at Ganahl. The $50 they saved by closing early would have been more than covered by the $137 I spent at ACE. Bad business practice on their part!! read more
