Not only did Seth diagnose the problem, he also alerted us to some cracking on our door that will, if left unfixed will greatly reduce the lift of our garage door. The cost was more than just fixing the original problem, but they've saved my door from premature failure due to their expertise. As it turned out, I had a bad pulley and damaged cable on one side. I called Garage Service Pros from their web page. My garage door spring had broken and needed to be replaced. They were able to come out the next morning at 8:30. It was Sunday evening when I called so this was good. Seth arrived as scheduled and replaced the spring and tightened and generally tuned up the door. He explained what he was doing and the door was once again working. I had an issue with the door that evening. Seth came out the next miring and repaired it at no extra charge. The came out one day and measured and I placed my order and they were right on it and scheduled for the next day! they showed up and the supervisor sat on his tail gate and blasted music and smoke ciggerttes while the other guy measured again after they removed the old door! they said they couldn't come back till the next day. So I asked them to put up the old door or something and they said they couldn't. Then they told my landlord they would return later that day and of course they DiD NOT come back. So my garage was doorless all night! They could have attempted to stack the old one back in some how. So we had to take out what we could later that night so no one would take our tools and stuff! They finally showed up the next day at 1:00! So I had to cancel work again for the second day! The door has no handle and the lock is on the inside! So I guess if someone is living in the garage it would be great but we don't!!!! The installer said he didn't know anything and that's how they are. My landlord hired them so I didn't know the name of the company so O asked him and I had to ask him 3 time's because he said he didn't know and then finally after I said to him "you don't know the name of the company that you work at" he finally answere. I guess we agreed to the $149, but seems like a rip off for 10 mins of work. Okay I randomly called this company off an ad I found this morning on Craigslist. Being that it's family owned and based in Cypress it got my attention. One hour later dude was at my house. An hour and 30 minutes after that I had a new garage opener fully installed, new springs, new bolts, new rollers, new pads, new remotes and about 8 hours of a weekend I can spend with my family. My fist thought when I called was to get a few quotes from a few people and weigh the idea of repairing it myself. I'm a pretty hard person to sale to but after talking with this guy I was confident that I found the right company on the first call. He knew exactly what was wrong with my previous unit and the cause of why it burned out the way it did. He was also very knowledgeable of the product that he was offering to replace it with. Even after listening to him go through his consultation, I proceeded to Google everything he told me which the results of my research matched what he had told me. Yes I could have done it myself and saved some bucks on the labor as well as the opener. But at the speed in which he installed it with all the cleanup and replacement of the moving pieces, rollers, etc.; it was definitely better work than I could have done myself and I saved myself a lot of time, effort and perhaps money in the long run because I would not have used many of the parts that he used plus I wouldn't have gotten the warranty. It's rare that I give a company I've only done business with once 5 stars but I really don't feel right giving these guys 4 stars with the fast service they gave me. The good: Same day appointment, solid professional service, the problem was fixed - it was not anything complicated or urgent. The not so good: As another reviewer mentioned before, the service was overpriced. I later found out that my sister-in-law paid 70%-80% of what I did to fix the very same problem. I would have saved around $100. So, based on my experience, fine to go with GSP but do a quick market research in advance and ask for a quote before they get to your house. If they refuse to give you a quote over the phone ("have to see the problem first, cannot assess work/repairs needed otherwise" type of excuse), it is probably worth trying to get a quote from someone else. Despite a 4-star rating, I will try to find someone else next time there is a problem with the garage door. Picking GSP was not a miss but it was not hitting the target either. read more
