Garcia's Grill is little more expensive than some the other mexican restraunts in Bowling Green because the quilaty of the food. It seems like at most other places you get more food that is one reason I will not give this place five stars. The service is usually friendly and decent speed. The chips are always fresh I cant stand stale chips! The salsa like other reviews state is the best in town. Very flavorful and big chucks of herbs and tomatoes! I have many to Garcia's a few times and have always enjoyed what I ordered. I like the taco salad with chicken, chicken loco which chicken cheese beans rice i think tortillas, and today I got the chicken and Mexican nachos. I cant remember the excat name but its st. louie something ha They didnt have queso but the mozzarella was yummy and I loved that their was lots of chunks of avocados on there :) I always love that this place used alot black beans ;). I will go again :) I would like try the fajitas. In the winter I love to get cup of crab bisque and queso with chips. It is enough to warm you up and fill you up :) read more

Great service, very fast and friendly. Quickly filled drinks, salsa and chips. Salsa is tasty. Overall food is bland. I had their XL steak burrito and I may as well have been a steak taco folded over minus flavor. I also had the chicken taco, zero spice, zero flavor. Two stars for service. read more

Eh,..it's ok. A good option for a quick, informal bite if you don't worry about wasting money on 'meh...'. As far as good "Mexican" (i.e. Americanized Mexican food), it's fine. Their chips and salsa are good (chips are actually really fresh, usually)...the 'spicy' salsa is actually spicy, which is nice. Nothing brilliant, nothing horrible. And in this part of the country, that's a rousing endorsement. My problems are two-fold: 1. service 2. portions / serving plates. So, point 1, service is iffy. More than once, it's been nearly impossible to get the server to actually look at me while otherwise attempting to get my party's order (I mean, I'm guessing that she's not just standing there for giggles) so that I have any idea whether she is just going about some other business while I talk to myself. There is no notion that the server is there to do anything other than deliver orders to the kitchen. Moreover, It seems like the less busy, the less the servers make an effort. Usually, I'm never offered a single refill on a soda during lunch, which is odd, because my glass usually gets to about a third full before the food gets to the table. My larger problem is that for Bowling Green (not exactly a thriving megolopolis, no farm-to-table or all-organic ingredients)...their lunch prices for healthy options are crazy. While I used to find more cheese-meat-sauce-laden items appealing, I've recently explored more healthy eating. Salads here are ICEBERG mix, a quarter to a third of a split chicken breast (sliced), a couple of cuke and onion slices...in total, the volume of a lunch entree salad with protein at Garcia's is about similar to the volume of a side salad most places (even fast food places) at three to four times the cost. They apparently use small pasta / wide rimmed soup plates for their salads. That's pathetic. I'm not saying that they need to increase the protein serving size, but there was literally less lettuce in the salad that I ordered for lunch than what was shredded as an condiment on an order of tacos. That's crappy, especially as the salad cost just under twice as much as the tacos. Good peppery salad dressing, though. Ingredients do seem quite fresh. read more

Stopped here driving home. Bowling Green is the half way point. Reviews on Yelp made this place look promising. Well the food was AMAZING! Chips were fresh, and the salsa was so fresh and tasty. I ordered the slow roasted pork taco with salsa verde. The pork was tender and delicious and the fresh cilantro and onions with the salsa verde, so delicious. The salsa verde was spicy without a lasting burn.(I love hot and spicy things) The beans and rice were nice and fresh. I don't usually love Mexican rice but this was really good. Our next trip through Bowling Green will definitely include a stop here. Wait staff was friendly and the service was very fast. No complaints what so ever!! read more

Used to be the best place to go for Mexican in Bowling Green. Still have the best salsa and mango margaritas and fish tacos which will keep me visiting, but probably not as often as I used to because of the new place in town. The problem with Garcia's is definitely not food and drinks, it is the service. With a few exceptions, the servers are ultra slow, inattentive, and not very friendly. I read the reviews and decided to give this place a try while visiting the caves. I decided to stick to the highly reviewed fish tacos and fajitas. I'm not sure what to say, the fish tacos were plain with no flavor whatsoever, I would avoid them. The fajitas were ok but the highlight was the flan which was great. Wrapped up the working weekend with dinner at Garcia's, which we tend to visit each year we're in town. Once we finally made it out of the Raceway and back to the hotel to shower, it was after 9 before we got to the restaurant. No wait to be seated, and the chips and salsa arrived quickly. Ordered a margarita and it was just what the doctor ordered, along with some of the lovely queso. I opted for the chicken quesadilla, and it was tasty, but quite honestly, I found only two very small pieces of chicken in the whole thing. Come on, guys! The others had no complaints with their dishes - a burrito, another quesadilla, and a chimichanga but no one really raved about them, either. The server did have a little bit of a problem when it came time for the checks; we had to have separate checks due to the expense accounts, and he didn't quite split the items as ordered; we also had to request an itemized receipt (again, for the expense account) since he just left an adding machine tape receipt with the total for each of us. All in all, not out best experience at this place, but the staff is always friendly, and the food served hot and quickly - about what you'd expect from most Mexican restaurants. read more

My mother and I love Mexican food, so we decided to try Garcia's. There were a lot of cars there so we figured they would be good. We waited for about 15 minutes to be seated, even though more than half the tables were empty. Finally someone came up to us and asked if we were waitling on something, we told them we were waiting to be seated, so he seated us. I ordered the chicken fajitas and my mother ordered a burrito that was supposed to have a ton of veggies in it. Took about 30 minutes to get the food, he brought us the wrong order, so we waited another 15 minutes for our food. Finally we got our food and it was the tiniest chicken fajita I have ever seen. About 1/5 the size fajitas you get at other Mexican restaurants. The food was below sub-par. My rice was minute rice they had flavored. The beans were good. The fajita cost about $11 and was horrible. Now on to my mothers dish. She is a vegetarian so she ordered a burrito (I believe it was called a California burrito) without chicken. It was supposed to have mushroom, peppers, onions, corn, beans, tomatoes and rice inside. She started eating it and said somethings missing, but she couldn't remember what was supposed to be in it, since we had ordered about an hour ago. So she waited for the waiter to come back, about 25 minutes later we got his attention and he came over and rudely asked 'what we wanted'. My mother asked to see a menu cause something was missing in the burrito, he brought her a menu and threw it on the table and walked off. So we figured out her burrito had only onions, peppers and rice in it and was supposed to have mushrooms, peppers, onions, corn, beans, tomatoes and rice. So we once again waited till we could get the waiters attention which took another 15 minutes. (we were watching our watches and keeping track) He came over and asked 'what now'? So she told him what all was missing out of her burrito and told him it was cold since we had to wait so long for him to come, and asked if she could get a new one, and have it cooked the way it was supposed to be cooked. He told her "No, you have already eaten off it, you are not getting a new one". So my mom asked if she could at least have the stuff that was missing out of the burrito cause she was paying $10 for a tortilla with only some onions, peppers and rice in it. He told her "we no longer put that stuff in that burrito, so no you can't". So I asked him why the menu had not been changed, or why we had not been told when my mom ordered the burrito and said she wanted all those veggies. He told us "it's not my problem". So I asked to speak to a manger. He then told us "I'm was not wasting his time getting you the manager". And walked off. So we just left our cold nasty food, left him no tip and went up and paid. A different dude came up to the counter you pay at, so we asked him if we could speak to a manager. And he told us "No" and walked off after we paid. I have never had such horrible service before. It was unfathomable to us how they could be so rude and still be in business. I make sure to let everyone know about the horrible service we had there! read more

Rico! Mucho Rico! BG is bery lucky to have an authenitc Mexican restaurant. Everything is FRESH! The guacamole is made fresh NOT from a supplier. It is wonderful. The fish fajitas are so GOOD and consistently good as are the fish tacos. They really know how to keep you coming back. Don't forget to try the Shrimp Bisque! Oh my goodness, it is wonderful, the only disappointment is when this is not the soup of day. Taco Loco, tamales, you won't go wrong with anything because is fresh. The service . . . superb! We dined here Thursday night between 8:30-9:00pm & had very poor service, plus my husband's food arrived cold in the center of the burrito. When he explained to the server that it was cold, the server told him it was because of the sour cream & stuff on top of it! We practically had to argue with him to have them heat it up in the microwave. It came back a 2nd time still cold in the center & I begged my husband not to send it back again, lest they spit in it or otherwise mess with it. Instead he ate the chips & salsa (which are very good) & griped about his cold food for the rest of the evening. We don't dine out often & when we spend $40 on dinner, we want to have a nice experience, which this was not. All the way home I got to hear about how it was my idea to go to Garcia's when he wanted to try the new Mexican restaurant on Scottsville Rd. This has never happened at Garcia's before, so the next day I called to speak to the manager & was told abruptly that the manager was not there. Goodbye! So here I am instead leaving them a bad review because evidently they could care less about pleasing longtime customers. I got the fondue mexicana as an appetizer, and in the process of eating through it discovered mushrooms, which wasn't listed in the menu iirc. When you come into a Mexican restaurant, you want a margarita. The margaritas are good, but the service is awful. We told our server we just wanted a pitcher of margaritas for happy hour and ordered queso for our chips. He got mad at us for only drinking and demanded that we order food to boost his ticket order amount in order to make more tip. When we said no, he simply never came back to our table for two more hours. The service is absurd when we spent as much on a pitcher as we would have on two meal tickets. We won't be back. read more

We come from Southern California so Mexican food is our almost daily fare. So, we were just a little anxious at trying a Mexican restaurant in Kentucky, but Yelp reviewers said it was good. We agree. We love the Garcia's at home in Nashville so when I realized it was in Bowling Green, I knew we had to try it. I must say that I was highly satisfied with the experience. It was the same great Mexican cuisine and fast service that I was used to at home. In fact, I think the service was faster here than at home!
