My wife and I stopped in for dinner and the service was good food was ok but when they let an old couple in the front door with their two dogs one on a leash and the other in the ladies arms and they were not service dogs come sit at a booth and put the dogs on the seats I knew I wouldn't be going back. I don't think animals that are not service animals should be in a restaurant. The manager should have trained staff on how to handle these types of situations. read more

Great chips. Salsa made daily and is pretty good. Meals are typical Mexican restaurant fare. Good flavors. I would say pretty good when you are feeling a straightforward Mexican restaurant experience. Inside of restaurant is dated and simple. Hipsters need not reply. read more

Wow, surprised by all the one stars. Having to travel around southern Texas A LOT, I get to sample a lot of Mexican restaurants and Garcia's is pretty good. I ate at three of there locations and all are about equal in the taste category. I had a chicken fajita plate, the chicken was very nicely flavored and spiced according my. My dad had something with shrimp it that he said tasted amazing. It looked really good and Mom just had quesadilla's. This is the 3rd or 3th time I ate at this locations. Service was prompt and kept our drinks full. I'll definitely eat here again. read more

Prior reviews reflected "store bought" chips, but today the chips were "homemade", warm and wonderfully crisp and tender, paring great with the salsa offered immediately on being seated. As others have reported, the tortilla soup is devine and it is worthy of everyone's ordering. Kudos to the barman for being quick to have margaritas to the table. read more

This is one of those restaurants that will stay in my mind for a while - and not because of oustanding service OR food... The first warning sign should have been the table that was covered with water - not streaked with it, but literally large puddles of it everywhere....and the hostess seated us there anyway - took asking the waiter to get it dried off. The tea WAS good - just wish that I'd have been able to get a refill! The wife had some uninspired cheese enchilada's, and I had some of the toughest carne guisada served barely over room temperature. My wife and I live in San Antonio and travel to Houston often. Spotted this place on the way. We both ordered Tex-Mex combo plates hoping for the best and were delighted. I feel it my duty to try every Mexican restaurant I can to find one up to par here. It's a tough task in South Texas. We come from the Waco area where Tex-Mex is different from South Texas. Where we come from cheese enchiladas are covered in chili con carne, not the red goo "chili gravy" common in South Texas. Gag. At Garcia's, their enchiladas were the real thing with real chili, although we asked for it specifically. Don't know what comes if you don't, and the chili was very good, not the usual "chili gravy" with piccadillo thrown in. Excellent - the acid test. Tacos, chalupas, rice, beans, chips, salsa, chili con queso met our tests too. We have been back since even though it is a hour's drive, but they told us they have another location in Schertz, which is 15 minutes away. They will be seeing us a lot. I am going to try to get the owners started with a North Texas regular item -- soft cheese tacos. Btw, the service and cleanliness both times was excellent also. How is this place packed? The staff is very nice.. But, the food is bland. The chips are not house made, the salsa is bland. Do not order the taco salad with chicken! Boiled chicken/ shredded meat, 90% lettuce, zero cheese, tiny bit of sour cream and gaucamole. I asked for some kind of hot sauce for some kind of flavor and heat. It is the most bizarre thing ever.. Super cold blended jalapenos it seems.. Watery, no seasoning, and oddly, no heat and very bitter.. I think it's a good place for kids because it is so mild, but if you want flavor and heat, it's not the place for you. read more

When you are in a small town its after dark your options for dinner do diminish. Of the places close to the La Quinta , Garcias was the best reviewed and appeared to be busy, others were empty or appeared closed or simply not appealing like the BBQ place. Anyhow Garcias, is a mexican place that has two things going for it. The chips and salsa, and the low price. The food is standard low rent mexican food like casa ole or Monterrey texmex, but cold, dry, old, but good portioned and served promptly. The kids had chicken nachos, its chips, fajita chicken, cheese, beans. 4 out five family members refused to eat more than one bite, it was terrible. The chicken seemed from a can, the cheese was wierd, i mentioned to the waitress, this was terrible no one here liked it. But it was still on the bill. Terrible dinner, yelpers lied about it, or they simply dont know what 4-5 star mexican place is. read more

Arrived and were seated at appox 2:55 P.M. Hostess gave us menues, brought our drinks. Noticed special price until 3:00. Asked her if could still get discount ($2.50 each), she said yes. Waiter took orders at 2:59, I said be sure to give us lower price. Bill came at higher price, asked for correction. Answer from manager was "order entered at 3:01, no discount". Went to the Garcia's in Seguin next to HEB, got seated and that's when it all went down hill. We sat in our booth for at least 15 to 20 mins before someone even took our order. In the meantime, the people in the booth next to us had to take their plate back twice because the kitchen kept getting her plate wrong. The waiter/waitress not really sure who our person was, kept on telling everyone "so sorry". Apparently the onsite manager cant even make a simple decision without consulting someone else first. Talk about Micro Manage! After about an hour later we finally got our food, it was good but last thought....Should have gone somewhere else!!! We had the same problem at the Garcia's on 10 & 46. There are plenty of Mexican Restaurants in Seguin to bypass this one. read more

Mushroom and spinach enchiladas with fresh spinach and mushrooms...yum! I ate until I was overstuffed because it was so good. Stopped by on a road trip and was pleasantly surprised by good service and good food. Try the fideo, angel hair pasta in bean sauce. Freshly made tortillas. Bathrooms were ok.
