I've been driving past the Garden Restaurant for decades and went in today for the first time. The interior was smaller than I anticipated, but there's a lot of tables and while there was a wait at 5pm on a Friday they had my party of 3 seated within 10 minutes. It was also very clean throughout. I was pleased that they had high chairs, and the kids menu was extremely well priced ($4.99 for 3 chicken tenders and a side). Prices across the board were very reasonable and portion sizes were generous. I ordered the club sandwich and had to take 1/4 of the sandwich home! The fries were excellent too. It would have been a 5 star experience, but it was hard to tell who our server was, as the person who took our order never returned to our table, and someone else brought us a check later. We have been getting takeout through the Toast app lately, and honestly, the Garden is awesome at getting the order ready. Additionally the food is always delicious. I love the pulled pork sandwich! The vibe is pretty cool when you enter. One side is booths (casual dining) snd the other side is tables and a bar. It gets crowded for sure. read more

Great fish sandwich! Super service! Fun atmosphere. We really enjoyed ourselves.

First off I love this place. Food is great, staff is professional and hustles. But tonight the bartender catered to the locals and forgot about the regular patrons that come to take advantage of the greatness that is the Garden. She might have had an off night or she didn't realize what she was doing. Or what she should have been doing. Turning the TV channel just because someone asked without asking if it would effect anyone. And when asked to turn it back to the game her response made it my fault. A little blame goes to the guy that asked. He should have asked the people who were sitting at the bar if they cared. Never coming back to ask me if my sandwich was ok or if I needed anything. Basically ignoring me the rest of my stay. I'm all for walking into a place and the bartender has your drink at your seat before you get there. Patrons like that make the Garden the Garden. Everything. Went there around 4:30. Pizza was the worst ever! Burnt outside crust and looked like fish skin in the middle. We couldn't eat it and left 1/2 the pizza there. Now the service. First bartender was good. The replacement was more Concerned about flipping her hair like a stripper working a pole. We will call her miss sunny as she was rude, didn't ask about how the food was and only cared about the locals she knows. This is the 2nd time there and never again. Just don't go. Ok. So first time here and was torn on how to grade this. Heard a lot of good things about the place - had to try. The parking lot was full... good sign Lots of folks .. means it's good. Seated right away in the bar area at a table .. good. Fish on the menu ... just what we came for! Soup was good ( well the person who orders it liked it and .. well he is picky soup person). two in our party order garden (battered) - I ordered breaded ( and receipt shows I ordered it) but did not get what I ordered.. mine came battered too ... not thrilled. Now for why I marked at three stars .. No server came by to check on once while we were there. No - hey is everything ok ... no chance to tell someone my fish was wrong .. no can even came around to see if we wanted another drink. Guess you have to be a regular or know the staff to get refills. We even had to flag someone just to get a check. I spent $75 + tonight plus tip Unsure if we will go back sadly. read more

Local waterhole alert ! Local watering hole alert! The locals do not want you to know about the garden! Great prices great vibes, good food. This place during a Steelers game I can only assume would be bumping, huge TVs good bar seating, crispy wings - me lady did know when they set them down that they needed more sauce and she was not wrong but otherwise they were quite delicious wings, add more sauce and nothing to complain about. For the main I got a fish sandwich and now pause this review here and go look at the picture I posted of the fish sandwich look at the bread... Yes this is just a HUGE piece of fish on ordinary hoagie bun nothing special, one bite of this in sandwich mode and I audible to remove the dry boring bread and instead have "fish and chips" they are just wasting bread advertising this as a freaking sandwich but man this is one fat fish anyways - made this into fish and chips and it did the trick still! Me lady got a pizza and she said it was good not great as well what was great was the crist the crust was bar none the best attribute of this entire experience, the crust and the Huge TVs! I am absolutely amazed that anyone could rate this place less than five stars! Folks, we're talking about an excellent, well run neighborhood bar with mouth watering bar food and a wonderful staff. We aren't eating at the Ritz. Temper your criticisms folks. I have tried nearly everything on the menu and have been more than pleased with everything. The servers and bartenders are wonderful at checking in to see if I need anything and keeping my beverage full. This establishment is also extremely clean! Always a good thing to see in a place where I am going to eat and drink. Don't change a thing. This is the textbook example of what should be taught in Bar/Restaurant 101! read more

Had lunch with a friend here. I live very close and this place is always packed on the evening. So trying this during lunch was great. It has limited parking but I was still able to squeeze into a spot. We had great service. I had iced tea. I'm an iced tea snob and this tea was fresh. I ordered a "small" pizza. This pizza was huge. It's bigger than a large at my usual pizza place. The waitress told me the restaurant doesn't know what small is. My friend ordered meatloaf and mashed potatoes. She let me have a taste and it was very good. Our waitress was amazing and everyone had great personalities. We did not order appetizers or desserts and for the two of us for lunch it was about $37. The food was super yummy and they had huge portion sizes. Super friendly staff as well. They have a cute outside eating area and a cute little dining area inside. Stopped in for lunch as it's right next to my dentist office and I heard good things. I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately. I ordered the Texas burger, veggies and onion rings. Veggies were super bland. No butter or salt on them at all. The onion rings were delicious. Huge! The breading was light, which made it fall off the onion easily. And now the burger. The presentation was fantastic. It looked huge and delicious. The patty was SO thin, I barely tasted burger. I also think it was a frozen patty, so that was disappointing. Can't believe I've lived so close to this restaurant for 2.5 years and yesterday was my first time trying it out! The waitress and other staff members were so friendly and sat us immediately. They were extremely attentive to our groups needs. The restaurant was busy but we never waited too long for our drinks, apps or meals. The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. We ordered beers and the prices were a nice change compared to the breweries in the area. The food was great!! My fiancé and I got 5 mango habanero wings as an app and the sauce was delicious, I wish the wings were a little more crispy but still good. I ordered the steak and cheese and the bread was fresh and the sandwich was perfect! Fries were plain but still decent. Everyone in our group really enjoyed their meals and the prices are so affordable and fair for how good the food is!! Definitely will be returning soon and highly recommend for a good meal!! Found this place one year ago and it became one of our favorite places but after last night we are taking a break from garden bar. The service here is so disjointed! It is so annoying to have multiple servers asking if you're ready to order. Feels so rushed. We ordered two French onion soups. We waited and waited and waited and then we finally flagged down a person and she went to check and she came back and all she said was "the orders in" so we waited and waited and she brought one bowl and put it in front of me and I said we order two and instead of apologizing she just turned around and went Ugh walked away. I gave my husband the soup so he could start eating and in about five minutes later the second bowl of French onion soup came out. The French onion soup was delicious as ever but then after about the 10th time of somebody asking us if we wanted to order we placed our order without having finished our soup. My husband's order was messed up and my pizza was brought without a serving spatula, plates, cheese or pepper flakes. My husband said that his broccoli tasted like it had been sitting in water all day and barely had any green color left to it. He did enjoy his chicken sandwich and baked potato though. Get your act together please. You have lost two customers. read more

First Friday in lent it was packed ordered 1 garden fish 1 breaded fish with coleslaw and tarter. Not a bad wait 45 minutes considering how crowded it was. Paid my bill went home. How in the heck on the first Friday in lent do you send a customer home wit a fish sandwich with moldy buns WTH. We moved to Bethel about a year ago and literally drive past the Garden Bar most days. We often see the parking lot full and I remember going there when I was a kid with my grandparents for fried zucchini. We always talk about trying it, but just never have. Well... Those same grandparents wanted to get takeout from the Garden Bar to celebrate a birthday so I got to try it. They both got fish sandwiches and really enjoyed them. I got a side salad and pizza. The salad wasn't anything super special, but was fresh and the personal sized pizza was generously sized and good. The sauce was sweeter than most, which I didn't mind. My grandparents said that they have the best meatloaf that they have ever had (as a vegetarian, I'll take their word for it) and really seem to enjoy everything that they get. We will definitely go back and try other food as well! read more

We stumbled across this while looking for a place to eat when another place was closed. I never knew it was so close from where we lived! It's a nice little bar and lounge area that has cheap food and drinks, but everything tasted great. They have drinks that are reasonable and a decent selection. The menu had apps, sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and coke slaw and i thought it was delicious! My dad ordered the Italian hoagie and said it was really good too! I loved the fries and their ranch-yum! Cole slaw even tasted good and sometimes cole slaw at most restaurants is a hit or miss for me. Staff was extremely friendly and the manager even came around a few times to see how things were going. We sat in the lounge area which was nice and there is a bar area too. We will definitely try out the bar area next time. Can't wait to return! read more

I have been here many times and it was good. The place is slipping away. The waitresses don't care they won't come back and you can't get a beer. Our food was over cooked and burnt. They need a table assigned system because the waitresses won't take ownership of a table. The service is just bad. We had a waitress get mad for asking for a different beer. The garden bar, a landmark in the south hills.. kind of. It's on gardenville, which separates bethel and Baldwin, the garden bar sits right past the viaduct. It is a great "old man" bar but it's also a great place to eat. The food is fresh and actually really good! The bar is bar is now smoke free so it's not bad to stop in for a beer. Mostly the standard domestic drafts; Miller, bud etc. but they have a few crafts in bottles Cheap beer and good food in a quite spot easy to get to and plenty of parking. They have great fish specials on fridays and the games on Sunday The only downside is they close really early, sometimes 10 depending on the crowd, so don't plan any late night stops read more
