Decided to try this buffet out since they were advertising the heck out of their Prime Rib special for dinner. Disappointing!!!! Tried a few different foods. All bland, dry or too hard. Definitely not worth the $36 a person (that's with a discount lol) I'd say The best part of this whole experience was the gelato. I'm sure it was store bought. The service was mediocre. They won't replace your utensils, napkins are hard to get and make sure you go wash your hands before you come eat here. This was one of the worst buffets I been to no joke I made yelp account just to complain. It was trying to be some "global" food buffet like food from all countries. They had "Mexican" which was straight BS on a platter some watery looking ceviche and other stuff. The "Asian" section should have just been called cheap Chinese food bc the chow mein was flavorless, literally no other options that were pleasent. The rice was the worst of them all. It was undercooked and literally felt like chewing pebbles. I put soy sauce on it to help it, did not help. The most disgusting rice ever when I put soy sauce on it , it turned a BROWNISH GREY... GREY. What rice turns GREY?!!? The Italian section was the least offensive, they had a "make ur own pasta station" which was just one bowl of olive oil fettuccine with four sauces. The meat section was terrible I don't even eat red meat and I can tell that "rotisserie chicken" was not rotisserie that stuff looked like pigeon meat the soup station was also bad, tasted like Soviet rations bo flavor at all. The salad station was terrible everything was soggy looking when it was t supposed to be and dry looking when it's not supposed to be the potato salad look like it was made with powder potatos the fruit was literally hard it was sitting out since yesterday the way it felt. Pineapple literally lost all moisture. The seafood section was maybe the most HORRIBLE. They did not have any regular seafood they had some nasty looking mussels, no regular shrimp just cold ones you gotta peel yourself, and the grossest looking gumbo I'm not kidding looks like bloody vomit. They had some weird seafood boil type of concoction going on it was like just sausages and corn sitting in unseasoned water I didn't see any discernable features of seafood in that also the service was fine but i hated hated HATED how we could not refill our own drinks we had to get them refilled by a waiter like we at some fancy joint this nothing fancy the waiters had some sort of tag on them stating where country they from I thought it was cool til I realized these casinos hiring cheap foreign labor to fuel their profit so that's not cool. The restaurant is very large and was very clean. The service was great and impressive! This was looking to be a great experience, but unfortunately the food was really just mediocre. I was surprisingly impressed with this buffet. I'm a fan of the South Point casino and saw that they were having a special NYE seafood buffet. We arrived around 5ish and had about a 30 minute wait. We expected it to be worse, to be honest. Super cute...they gave out beads and party hats. At the entrance, there were cups of unlimited beer, wine, and champagne which were included. Our server was attentive and amazing. As far as the food, they had a good variety ranging from the carving station to Mongolian bbq to Mexican to Asian to seafood to dessert. My husband and I came here to check out one of the cheapest buffets here in Las Vegas. It is located in the SouthPoint Casino. We came for lunch and it was $22.95 per person. There was a line but we didn't wait too long. The food was mediocre. I didn't expect much because of how much we payed. But if you're looking for a variety of food and just want to eat I'd say give this buffet a try. The stations they had were barbecue, seafood, Mexican, Italian, and Chinese, carvings, Mongolian grill, and soup and salad bar along with the desserts. The quality of food was low grade, which is what I expected. The service was great! Our waters were filled and our old plates from the buffet were always taken away for more new plates of food. My first and last time going to this buffet. My first trip I picked the fried catfish, fried rice, cashew chicken and a small slice of brisket. I would give the catfish a 5 out of 10. The fried rice was a 6. Cashew chicken a 6 and the brisket a 6. My second and last trip was stopped by a COCKROACH crawling across the buffet pizza area. The person working behind the counter grabbed it since it was on the tongs and removed it. At least she removed the pizza that was next to it but that's it. The rest of the food stayed there. Went to the Coronado Cafe, pretty much no line when we went in. Now we are done and the line to the cafe is wrapped around the corner. Just for the fun of it, went to look at the Buffett line, 1hr & 20min later, the end of the line still starts at the sports book. They have someone giving out bottles of water to people in line. It's located in the middle of South Point casino, so the ambiance definitely reflects that. The food selection is decent. There are plenty of options, but many filler foods and of low quality. It has been at least 15+ years since the last time I've visited the buffet at the South Point. Prior to COVID, all the local casinos had a buffet and there were just so many to choose from that South Point was never on the list. However, after COVID, many of the local casinos decided not to reinstate their buffets -- Stations being one of them. South Point did NOT get rid of their buffet and have probably made it more attractive by including a Prime Rib & Seafood night. Their Prime Rib & Seafood night is Fridays only. It is about $50 per person but if you have their gaming card, you get about $2-3 off. With that, you also get two tickets for an alcoholic beverage of either beer, wine, or sangria. My friend and I decided to give it a try one Friday night. I got there a bit before 5PM and there wasn't a line at all. So if you're willing to eat early, you won't have to wait! Once we paid, we just had to wait to get seated. The first "station" you pass is the alcoholic beverage station. All the drinks are already poured -- you just put your ticket in the box and grab whichever drink you want. For beer, I believe they only had Bud light and Budweiser as options. I ended up grabbing a cup of zinfandel and sangria. For seafood options, they had cooked shrimp, snow crab legs (hot & chilled), Dungeness crab legs (hot & cold), and raw oysters. I wasn't a huge fan of the hot snow crab legs because they were pretty tiny and got dried out when they heated it up. However, the chilled Dungeness crab legs were awesome. I LOVE chilled Dungeness and we got at least four plates of this. We did try their prime rib and it wasn't bad. It's definitely not the best I've had but it was tender and had good flavor. I think the key is to get the rarer cuts. They had a small selection of Chinese food, Mexican food, and Italian food. Nothing to write home about to be honest. They do have a Mongolian station, which I really enjoyed. It's too bad that they don't include noodles for you to put in your Mongolian stir fry. Their dessert section was pretty lean but they did have ice cream which had a decent amount of selection. Service wasn't bad either. They cleared plates timely -- none of our plates piled up like a mountain. I can't say how they are with drink refills cause my friend and I didn't require any the whole time. Also note that getting a player's card is free and simple to get as it's located on the same floor. Breakfast on the weekend is $35.71 and that includes two mimosas/champagne. Both of these alcoholic drinks were average. However, the variety of food and quality of food is above average. In addition to breakfast, there's salad and fruits, an omelet bar, Mongolian food, Mexican food, meat station, Italian food, soups, and a large variety of desserts. Normally, I go to the stations where cook the food in front of you as I find those to be highest quality sections in a buffet. This is true of their omelet bar; the chef was nice and the omelet was great. However, the same can not be said of the Mongolian food stand as the cook was actively trying to avoid doing his job and the food there was not as good as other buffets I've been to. My wife and I visited the Garden Buffet, located inside the South Point Hotel and Casino. We were there for the Seafood Buffet, which they have every Friday, beginning at 3:00. I immediately went to the line for the Steamed Crab Legs, and oh my, are they delicious. Even better, they are split open, meaning you do not have to try and crack them open yourself. As for crab, they also have Snow and Dungeness. There are Oysters, Sushi, and just about every kind of seafood you could imagine. Their carving station has Prime Rib, Smoked Salmon, Ribs, and Maple Glazed Roast Salmon. I opted for the Prime Rib, and with my crab, made it a surf and turf experience. Of course there are many other stations that you would expect to see at a buffet, including g a Mongolian Grill, where you choose the vegetables and seasonings, and then the Grill Masters will add meat (beef, chicken, or shrimp) with sauces and cook it for you. Our server, Edzel, was always on point to check on us, and provide us with wine. Oh, I didn't mention that with this buffet comes two complimentary drinks such as wine, beer, or sangria. Service was great. You can get there early to pay for breakfast and then changeover to lunch happens between 11-noon. The reason I give an hour or full changeover is because they leave out breakfast items longer for more of a brunch theme. I asked the chef about pizza and he said closer to noon when they remove the eggs bacon etc. The ribs brisket and chicken are out early but the full lunch menu is closer to noon. Pay cheaper for breakfast and get there at 10:30 and you'll see changeover happening constantly till about noon. Win Win. Checked out Garden Buffet inside South Point during their $29.95 Seafood Night, which was on a Saturday. We visited during Super Bowl weekend and we were initially expecting it to be super busy, but it wasn't packed at all. In fact, there was hardly a line to get in and we were seated almost immediately after I showed the hostess my receipt. It's been a long time since I stepped inside of a buffet. GVR's buffet, the casino closest to my house, closed at the start of COVID and never reopened afterward, so South Point's buffet will be my main go-to. Getting to experience what a buffet was like again was tremendous. Besides seafood, there were so many other food choices to choose from, such as Italian, Asian, BBQ, and a salad bar right in the center. We filled two plates with endless amounts of food. I think my favorite food items were the enchiladas, shrimp, sushi, and mac and cheese. I also picked up a shrimp cocktail, but it did not taste as good as the other shrimp that came by themselves. Even after being completely full after two plates, I still had to have dessert! My boyfriend tried to get some dessert for himself, but he just couldn't do it. I ended up getting a thing of soft served ice cream (chocolate and vanilla swirled together) in a waffle cone, but that's all I could have, despite all the cakes and other desserts looking so good.
