Such a solid spot for breakfast, coffee or lunch in Toluca Lake. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and while it's casual, it feels more elevated than your average breakfast spot. Plenty of outlets if you want to come by with your laptop! I usually come on weekdays and it's not super busy. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. I love their coffee drinks and I've never had a meal here I didn't like. Most recently I had the breakfast hash and it was delicious! It came with salad and toast so it was a pretty big meal. They have lots of healthy salad options for the health conscious folks and pastries for those with a sweet tooth! It's a great place to take people for a variety of menu options. Service was great and all of the tables were extremely clean. If you don't mind the self serve vibe, you've got to check it out!

I didn't see a lot of dinner reviews so I thought I'd try it. We made a reservation on Resy but it wasn't necessary there was plenty of seating available. It's cute and has a nice wine bar, open seating area with hard floors means it can get loud when full. The service was pretty good, they have happy hour daily for wine and beer and select food. What we ordered: appetizer was garlic shrimp which was a bit disappointing with six small shrimp in some sauce. Good flavor but it was just ok. Next came our entrees which were truffle cavetteli pasta and the wild lemon glaze halibut. Both of these options were excellent! The halibut had great flavor and a good portion. We also had dessert of warm butter cake and an affogado coffee. One thing to point out is they have table service during dinner. It is definitely worth venturing out to if you're in the neighborhood, a chill vibe with fresh food.

My family and I decided to stop by Sweetsalt in a Sunday evening. Unbeknownst to us, after a certain time (dinner?) it turns into a sit down restaurant with table service rather than the order at the counter and take your number and sit version we had experienced previously. The mood is somewhere between romantic and chic in the evening. We ordered an assortment of items including hamburgers but this the woodfired pizza stood out. I would be back just for that, maybe joined with a appetizer or two and a glass of wine. Cheers.

In my ongoing quest to canvass all of Toluca Lake for food reviews, I tried Sweetsalt again for lunch yesterday. This is my third time there, I went once for breakfast and once for a lunch meeting. Service is fine. 4/5. You order up front and they bring the food to you. I have found both times I've went that the cashiers were busy doing something so even though there was no line I had to wait about 5 min for service. Not the biggest deal. Food usually comes prompt. Atmosphere 3/5. This place looks really pretty on the inside. Has some outdoor seating on riverside. It's sorta elevated fast casual. Feels like a kit store made from left over parts from old mimis restaurants. My only real issue is its high ceilings. It gets very loud fast. This seems to be a trend with places these days, but I prefer to hear the person I am dining with. Food 3/5. It's just... ok. I had a breakfast once and it was fine. Had a salad once and it was fine. Yesterday I ordered their Brussel and kale tacos with double chicken (which totaled like almost 30 bucks!). My partner had a caprese with chicken and it was super dry! Portion sizes are good. Coffee is also just ok. Lots of better options nearby. So the food is... fine. But so so expensive. Again it's like, am I getting my money's worth? I can go to TJs down the street, get about 20 meals that taste better, go home and heat them up. Not sure if it's me or restaurants in general in these times but I'm just not finding the quality to be worth the cost. Go here for a quick breakfast or brunch or maybe a meeting. Maybe just stay home or make a nice picnic lunch or something if you're looking for dining with intent.

Yummy mushroom truffle pizza!!! We also got the rigatoni pasta, which was pretty good. I wouldn't get it again though. And the chicken salad with almonds, which was pretty good after adding goat cheese to it. I think I'll stick with pizza next time.

I've been meaning to stop by for months. This was a unique yet lovely experience. Stand on line to place/pay for my order. Grabbed my number, took a few steps where I cured my coffee, needed additional napkins and my hot sauce. Next thing I know, this lovely plate was presented. Thanks to Hannah who was very helpful to me, while I decided my breakfast. I so enjoyed my meal. There is parking in the back, as well as street parking. Sweetsalt offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was enjoyable.

First time trying. We were a bit confused as the host desk had a sign saying to seat yourself. We finally figured out it was a stand in line at the counter to order place. We placed our order. My wife had the Steak and Blue on baguette. I got the Shortrib sandwich with fries. We both really enjoyed the sandwiches. The surprise was how good their Japanese Lager was. I really enjoyed it. The service was great and the relaxed atmosphere made it a great place to just hang out. We are definitely coming again.

The food taste great but sometimes can come out a bit cold. They are kinda slow when serving food but they have many orders to prepare! Very polite people & and clean space :)

Grilled cheese sandwich with lettuce ( salad?)

The place looks nice. Free parking behind the building. Luckily because we had major problems finding parking on the street on a Saturday afternoon. Staff seem friendly. We decided to sit outside in front by the street. It wasn't too noisy. My spouse ordered a lentil/vegetable soup. He let me try it. I had to agree with him. Very watery in my opinion but also extremely tasteless. Absolutely nothing to write home about. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and an orange juice. It wasn't bad. But it came with some greens. I assumed it was a side salad. But either they forgot the dressing or they don't like to share much of it. I tasted just plane green lettuce. Nothing else. After we got the food. No one ever came out to check on the us. So I never had a chance to ask for anything anyway. Well, it was worth a try. I won't say this place is horrible but not for us.

Fig & Prosciutto sandwich, Honey Lavender Matcha
    Audrey F.

Very fast service, has some free parking in the back, lots of seating in a stylish dining area, and a fairly large menu of sandwiches and salads. You order at a cashier and then they bring the food to you in less than 5 minutes. The fig and prosciutto sandwich was pretty good and I enjoyed the honey lavender matcha latte which had a fairly prominent lavender flavor. Sandwich could've been bigger or a bit more filling given that between the drink, sandwich, tip, and tax, my meal cost over $33. Overall, I did enjoy this spot but you're definitely paying for the atmosphere.

Sweetsalt is a cute little cafe in Toluca Lake. Seemed like there were some people doing work on their laptops, friends catching up with each other, and overall a chill, laid-back spot. The food was alright, wasn't blown away by any of the dishes. The side salad was whatever, felt like the mixed greens out of a bag. Service was pretty good and friendly. Highlight was probably the breakfast sandwich.

I customized my sub by asking for the avocado on the side and without pickle or onion. Mu wife sub was just with no tomatoes. The drinks options here are amazing, you have kool aid! They also have different kind of tea as well. This place also has a bar where you can get drinks. There enough seating to accommodate for most guest but I was just taking to go. They didn't take long to make my order and I had a great time chatting with the person preparing my order. He was very nice and energized with a upbeat attitude. He let me know that the sandwich was labeled so I would know which sub was which with the customization. It's street parking here or you can try to park in the little garage in the back, I just walked here. My sandwich was delicious and has a little kick to it. I will recommend that if you get the Kali Mist, you should eat it while it's fresh for the best taste. The sub will fill you up because it has so much toppings in it and they give you a decent amount too. My wife loved her sub as well beside the bacon since I forgot to ask for that on the side. If I'm back in the area with my friends, I would recommend coming here to them.

I'm sure you can guess which option I went for! I was surprised to find Roma Deli on the list as I had never realized it was so close-by from my usual morning start. Parking seems to be street parking but there was also a lot right next to the restaurant and I couldn't tell if it was for the Deli or not but I felt intimidated by someone who was standing in the lot staring at everyone that drove in so I parked on the street. On entering I was surprised that the restaurant is so spacious and smells so good inside. I was greeted by friendly staff and I spent quite a while admiring the large menu before making my choices. I decided that instead of going to the grocery store I would get a few sandwiches to take home and eat for a couple days so I can avoid the store a little longer lol. I ordered the Honey Turkey Sandwich, the Italian Combo sandwich which says it's one of their signature sandwiches, and the Roma's Special sandwich. I also ordered a size small Zucchini sticks. While I waited I noticed that the staff is so friendly that they even strike up conversations with guests about different topics and it looks like they have allot of regulars coming and going. I don't feel like I waited too long for my food, I browsed a little along the walls and sat for a little relaxing and before I knew it my number was being called. I paid and took the food with me and I could feel steam rising out of the bag, that's how fresh the zucchini was. I did not get to take a photo of the zucchini because I ate it the whole way home, and let me tell you that was the most generous size small portion I've ever seen. I love zucchini and these were lightly breaded and nice thick but well cooked cuts of zucchini. When I got home I decided to eat the Honey Turkey Sandwich first, I thought I'm just going to eat half and then put the rest away, but it was so delicious I ended up eating the full sandwich. The bread is a nice soft white roll, and the sandwich is bursting to the brim with all the ingredients. I looked over the menu and ultimate decided on the large size Italian Combo sandwich, rather than the recommended Fancy Italian Combo ((which has different proteins and a special roll). I was quite happy with it, certainly substantial in size, good flavor from multiple meats, lots of shredded lettuce. I even dipped it in the residual juices from the side tomato-cucumber salad and loved that too! The sandwich can be made into a combo that comes with 2 sides and a fountain drink. Here I found that the quality was not as good as the sandwich. The tomato-cucumber salad was the right amount of oil/vinegar, the fruit and vegetable were fresh, very solid option. The pesto on pasta shells was underwhelming. I do like me some pesto, but here it was more for visual and aroma than taste. I would try other sides before getting this one again. Lastly, the taste of their Diet Coke was odd. I thought they had given me half and half with regular coke, so I asked for them to pour me a new one, and it ended up tasting the same ‍ Given the variable quality of sides and drinks, I think I would come back primarily for the entree items, and probably evaluate my other preferred sandwich the Meatball.
