Honestly more like a 3.5 but went with the higher of the two. We ordered the strawberry matcha, the einspanner and the hojicha soft serve. Definitely skip out on the last menu item - the hojicha has a weird reaction with the ice cream and kind of causes it to chunk up. The matchas were fairly decent - the strawberry syrup felt house made. However, it really took close to 20 minutes to get our order so I'm not really sure how worth it is to wait that long...
Kiosk-order and quick service, no seating! I came here on a random weekday morning, so there was no line. I got the strawberry matcha einspanner, which came with a TON of cream - it was a bit overwhelming, not much strawberry coming through and the matcha was flavorless. The dried strawberry pieces were nice change in texture though! I think I would come here again if I wanted more of a dessert-like matcha - cute and very aesthetic, but the matcha was just alright! They also serve treats from K Minamoto!
I'd give this place 2.5 stars. I'd heard either really amazing things or this was overhyped, so I was excited to see for myself. My partner and I came on a Saturday afternoon with amazing weather, so I was expecting a wait. We waited for 20+ mins, so be prepared. They only have one kiosk, so it can take a while if someone ahead of you is scrolling thru the menu and deciding what they want to order. We ordered the Strawberry Matcha Einspanner and Strawberry Matcha Latte with less sweetness and less ice. The staff were young, and there was new guy training. When he did the strawberry whipped cream, he messed up one, and I felt bad for the girl in front of me. She was clearly disappointed to get the messed up version. Luckily, mine looked great since another person put the whip cream on time. The Strawberry Matcha Einspanner had matcha, strawberry whipped cream, strawberry puree, and dried strawberries on top. The Strawberry matcha latte only had the strawberry puree with matcha and milk. The Einspanner was alright, though the whipped cream took a while to melt into the drink. The whipped cream was yummy! The matcha latte, though, was watered DOWN! It was BAD! My partner was so upset, since it was his drink, that he didn't even finish it. He's like "This is one of the worst matcha lattes I've had in the city". My drink was alright but his was extremely disappointing. Overall, probably won't come back.
Super aesthetic strawberry matcha! I was given really positive recommendations for this place when it comes to taste and looks so I had high expectations. Unfortunately, the matcha fell really flat to me. The ordering process is relatively quick. They have one single kiosk on the left side of the storefront and they have a transparent bar that shows the workers making the drink. Although there was a line out the door, it only took 10 minutes to order and get my drink. They have their system moving relatively fast since they have someone measuring out the matcha powder, one making it, and one piping the strawberry cream on top. Drink: Strawberry Matcha Einspanner (7.2/10): The presentation deserves a good 9/10. The taste of the matcha was 6/10 for me. Before I mixed anything, I wanted to try the matcha itself. It tasted extremely watered down and there was barely any strawberry flavor. Sure, there were small chunks of strawberry coming through the straw. After carefully mixing in the cream, the drink definitely became a lot creamier. The cream itself shouldn't help make the matcha creamy, IMO.

I personally liked the strawberry matcha einspanner better. The fresh strawberry flavor and dried strawberries added a fruity sweetness that complemented the matcha well, and the creamy topping made the drink itself more indulgent. The matcha latte was also enjoyable, and the quality of matcha was good.
Located in downtown SF surrounded by offices, Cafe Nagomi is the perfect spot for an afternoon pick me up. There was a short line out the door on a weekday afternoon, but it went quickly. The store is small and doesn't have any seating, and you place your order at a kiosk. They were well staffed and our drinks came out quickly. I ordered the strawberry matcha einspanner. I love creamy drinks and couldn't resist the giant cream top. The cream was very thick and infused with strawberry flavor. I will say it probably overpowered the matcha, so if you're looking to appreciate the matcha then I maybe wouldn't get this drink. Another note is that since it's kind of a quick grab and go spot, it's not super convenient to order the einspanner because the cream is taller than the cup and they only have flat lids. I had to sip enough of the drink and eat enough of the cream before I left for it to get flat enough to fit with a lid. Overall very tasty and a nice sweet treat. I did feel a little silly walking back to work with a very visible pink cream top drink, but it was worth it! I'll maybe try a non einspanner drink next time to taste more of the tea.
I first tried Cà Phê Việt by the same owner and didn't like it at all, but then I discovered Cafe Nagomi and decided it looked worth a try. I'm glad I gave it a go because it's actually sooo good. If I didn't know any better, I wouldn't be able to tell they're by the same owner because Cafe Nagomi is worlds better, and I say this as someone who's tried a copious amount of Vietnamese food and beverages and, of course, matcha lattes. I can definitely understand why Cafe Nagomi is up there in the ranks of the SF matcha scene. Their matcha is quite robust, borderline bitter but not quite, which results in a perfectly balanced, bold matcha flavor. Business must be good because unlike other cafes in SF with one barista juggling all operations, there was actually a decent number of staff (4 baristas when I visited) working to assemble the drinks, and ordering was done on a digital kiosk. Even with the steady stream of foot traffic in and out of the cafe, the drinks were churned out pretty fast.
I saw that there was a new matcha spot opening up in DTSF and I had to try. There's been a ton of matcha spots opening around the Bay Area and my wallet cries since I want to try all of them. I actually stumbled upon this place on yelp and then I saw some reels about this spot, and I dragged my coworkers with me to try. This place was only a few blocks away from our office, and it's actually close by to Shoji. I knew how to navigate to this place since it's near Outset Coffee on New Montgomery street. When you walk in, the interior is beautiful! It's a small cafe, so you can only walk in, order at the kiosk, wait for your drink and walk out. There's only 1 kiosk where it takes card only. There is a register, but there isn't anyone taking orders there. They do have matcha tins and keychains for sale, but no matcha powder anywhere. I'm not too sure what brand they use or if they would be open to selling it in the future (in case you like their matcha). The menu is short and sweet, but I knew I was coming there for the strawberry matcha einspanner. The other few times I went, I did try the raspberry white chocolate matcha latte too. Each drink is about $7-8 I believe? It's extra for milk alternatives, so it can cost you around $9-10. REVIEW OF EACH ITEM: -Strawberry Matcha Einspanner: this was honestly the only thing I come here for because I love how light the strawberry whipped cream is with the freeze dried strawberries. It's practically a dessert with matcha. Depending on who makes your matcha, it can be more bitter and earthy tasting. Other times, it does taste pretty smooth and slightly bitter. The strawberry jam is sweet and delicious, which pairs with the matcha well. The only complaint I have is that they do give you a large amount of whip, and the lid they give you isn't domed. You'd have to drink a bit of the matcha first before you can close it. I do wish they can get a domed lid instead so you wouldn't have to ruin the whip, but maybe we'll see some changes later! Otherwise the drink is beautifully decorated and it's fun to get each time. -Raspberry White Chocolate Matcha Latte - I don't know why I was so nervous trying this because it wasn't that bad. The raspberry jam was sweet, yet tart and tangy. The white chocolate flavor was light and the matcha was nice as well! It's a great pairing with all those flavors combined. I've been coming here a few times with my coworkers, so I'll definitely come again and try the hojicha next time.

The cream top and dried strawberries on top is delicious. Definitely use the strawberries to scoop up the cream for a decadent bite. The matcha was just ok tho. It was strong but grainy and the strawberry jam on the bottom was surprisingly kind of bland. I tried to mix my drink well but there still wasn't much actual strawberry flavor and by the time I was halfway through the drink, it was mostly cream. I have a couple of favorites for einspanner in the city and Cafe Nagomi didn't quite live up to those but it's pretty solid if you're craving a sweet fun drink.

We ordered at the kiosk after entering and got our drinks within a few minutes. Matcha Latte - This didn't come sweetened so I had to add some of my own after getting the drink. With the sweetener added, it helped brighten the flavor a little but the matcha itself was a bit too bitter or earthy for me. I tried the iced matcha latte one my friend got and it was a lot better, sweetened to a balanced amount and the matcha came through well without being too overwhelming in how the hot version felt. I would go back again to try their fruit matcha drinks next time.
I wanted to like Nagomi, I really did... but the quality of their matcha is simply not up to par. It's quintessentially bitter and grassy- exactly what matcha haters have to say about the drink. The strawberry matcha einspanner was beautiful and the freeze dried strawberries were metaphorically the cherry on top- but in a city rife with Stonemills, Constances, and Cere Teas, I'd have to give Nagomi a below average rating. Beautiful presentation, but the lattes I make with Marukyu Koyamaen and Shiki matcha from Osaka with homemade cream tops are better.
I wasn't really aware of Cafe Nagomi but when I walked in the strawberry matcha with the whipped cream was everywhere. It's so beautiful and I immediately knew I'd order it! You order at a tablet and there is a good amount of customization available! You do oat milk and adjust the sweetness. The service is also very quick despite the fact that the orders kept coming. I loved the taste. I'm not a matcha expert but it was definitely good quality matcha and whisked incredibly well! I also love how strong the matcha and strawberry flavors are! The drink starts of matcha-y and as you drink it, the whipped cream mixes and makes an incredibly light sweeter drink. I want to come back to try the hojicha
First time trying an einspanner. The matcha strawberry einspanner looks decadent with a tall swirl of pink-orange whipped cream and bits of freeze dried strawberry. I enjoyed the strawberry jam, which provided a nice contrast with the matcha. There were a lot of ingredients in this dessert drink, so it masked any grassiness the matcha may have. Thusly, the matcha seemed about average when compared to all the other cafes in the city. I'm not a whipped cream fan, and this drink didn't change my outlook. It was flavorless, wish the strawberry jam was also integrated into the whipped cream. I'd say this drink had too much whipped cream and the ratio of whipped cream to drink was probably 1:1. All in all, it was a fun drink to try, and an non-matcha-drinking onlooker was so impressed with the drink's aesthetics that he got into line.

Such a cute little café! I had heard so many good things about their strawberry matcha, but since I'm normally not a huge matcha person, I was a little hesitant to try it. I'm so glad I did because it was honestly so delicious! I was surprised by how much I loved it and would definitely come back for it. I've also heard really good things about the rest of their menu, so I definitely want to try more next time! The café itself is small but super cute and cozy. There was a pretty long line and a lot of people when we went, but once we ordered, our drinks came out so quickly. I was really impressed with how fast the service was, especially with how busy they were. Definitely looking forward to coming back! read more
I wouldn't have known about this place had I not walked down Montgomery on my way to SF MOMA, and saw the huge line with everyone coming out holding a variety of delicious matcha latte drinks with dried strawberry pieces atop a swirl of whipped cream. I was sold and bookmarked it to return to, and get a matcha latte after my museum visit. So glad I did! Apparently, they use ceremonial grade Oyaizu Seicha matcha powder from the Shizuoka region (near Mt. Fuji) of Japan. The gathered crowd and line did not disappoint and there was still a line at 4:30pm (30 minutes before they close) when I returned. I got there just in time, because they closed the line for last call orders after another small group of 4 people lined up right behind me. Word of Advice: Definitely get in line for their last order of the day, at least 30 minutes or more, before the published hour that they close - otherwise you may be out of luck. Experience: I waited about 20 minutes in line before I got to order. Then there was a 5-10 minute wait for them to prepare my drink. I chose the Raspberry Matcha Latte Einspañnar drink ($8.50) and a piece of their chestnut mochi (Kuridaifuku $4.90). You can adjust the sweetness and ice level on their drinks, as well as select oat milk or Strauss creamery whole milk. I asked for no sugar since I was told there is already a bit of sweetness from the raspberry puree on the bottom layer and strawberry whipped cream on top. Turned out just how I liked it! The chestnut mochi is premade and imported from Japan. It has a whole chestnut wrapped in red bean paste inside the filling. I enjoyed the mochi - it had a soft pliant texture and wasn't overly sweet. There are a few other mochi flavors (sakura/cherry blossom which has edible petals and leaf on top, cream cheese filled blueberry flavor, black sesame), which were sold out - so I'll have to return to try them next time. The Raspberry Matcha Einspañnar latte drink I chose was pretty good and refreshing. Good quality matcha and ratio of matcha to milk. Loved the strawberry whipped cream and bits of freeze-dried strawberries that they place on top! Get a spoon so you can scoop up all that delicious cream and strawberry pieces, after you finish your drink! They also sell a few other sweet snacks besides mochi, as well as soft serve matcha ice cream (made with Strauss creamery milk/cream), and Japanese tea canisters. Tip: Get a membership card to collect stamps for each purchase to earn a free drink too. read more

San Francisco celebrates the Cherry Blossom Festival for two weekends in April. It is the one of biggest Cherry Blossom festival in America and only second to the capital of USA, Washington DC. This weekend will be last weekend to catch the Cherry Blossom festival at San Francisco's Japantown. Last weekend San Francisco experienced some rain. This weekend will be sunnier. Going to Japantown for the Cherry Blossom Festival you will see lots of vendors selling manga anything anime , Hello Kitty, and Pokémon. You will find food like sushi ,Takoyaki, chicken katsu sando along with drinks like matcha. If you are downtown in San Francisco you can get some top grade flavor matcha all four seasons . It's on New Montgomery street and it's called Nagomi. On a Spring stroll in downtown San Francisco there is a place which serves top grade matcha for Don Juan de la Matcha . Once inside you feel calm and tranquility and that's what Nagomi means in Japanese. The decor vibe feels like it's the Cherry Blossom all four seasons. It was a sunny day so I decided to try their matcha and vanilla swirl ice cream cone. The matcha and vanilla Straus ice cream was tasty with lots of flavor and it was one of the best in the city. The cone was a bit flakey like some in SF. They also have lots of matcha drinks available like Matcha Latte with premium Matcha from Shizuoka Japan and the Korean inspired Strawberry Matcha Einspänner with the strawberries on top. This is the spot for matcha in San Francisco if you are on New Montgomery street. Ngl the strawberry matcha isn't too amazing but it is really cute. I'd totally get it again just for the pictures but the drinks taste the same as if it were from any other matcha place. Customer service was amazing though! read more
Hojicha is one of my most favorite drinks on this earth, so I was excited to try the hojicha latte here. I had no idea this place even existed until I walked past it on my way to GDC, so I stopped in on a whim. As with a lot of cafes these days, you order at a tablet and have minimal interactions with the staff, who were a bit on the cool side toward customers but were at least still polite. All drinks are available either hot or cold, with sugar and ice adjustments available. The hojicha used in the lattes is from Shizuoka and definitely seems to be a highlight of the menu. It didn't take too long for my drink to come out, as there were only a couple of other people who'd ordered ahead of me. The drink was a pretty standard size, not super tiny but not very generous either. The first couple of sips of the latte were a bit chalky, but with a good stir that chalkiness went away and I was left with a smooth, roasted hojicha flavor that was absolutely delicious. Everything I was hoping for when I ordered a hojicha latte. I don't work in San Francisco anymore so, unfortunately, I likely won't drop by again unless I happen to be in the area for some reason or they're still around next year when I return for GDC. But I'd recommend giving them a shot if you love hojicha, too. And for the matcha fans, there are a ton of matcha options for you here. read more
I got the matcha strawberry einspanner during my lunch break. The inside is a little small but cute and I ordered via kiosk and there looked like there was 2 baristas on a Tuesday afternoon. The line wasn't too long and nor was the wait. I don't think there was too much if any seating so very much a grab and go experience. The drink itself is so visually pleasing and the baristas delicately place the dried strawberries on top which is so very nice seeing their attention to detail. The matcha itself is good and is very pleasant when paired with the strawberry. While it is so pretty the cream is pretty thick and hard to taste but overall I'd recommend trying it's pretty yummy! read more

Happy I got to try this new matcha spot after seeing it pop up on my feed a lot! Cafe Nagomi is located in the busy Financial District of SF, which means no parking... The nearest parking garage was connected one of the residential places and it was quite expensive. I will say this place is more of a small cafe where you: order at a kiosk, grab your drink, and take it to go. Prices were on the higher end being around $8-$9 depending on what you get. They didn't have just tea options, so it was mainly lattes (Hojicha, Matcha, Strawberry Matcha). I opted for the Strawberry Matcha Einspanner with regular sweet. The matcha flavor was more on the balanced and creamy side, but it had difficulty mixing well with the strawberry jam at the bottom. Still enjoyed the flavors though. The strawberry whipped cream part was thick and similar to what you'd get on top of a funnel cake or frozen drink. It made the drink feel & taste like a dessert! When you think of einspanners, you'd expect a thick milk foam. But, I like how they were creative with their drink. I'd come back to just get their Strawberry Matcha, but I'm glad I got to try this place. read more

I do think the presentation is great but I don't personally find the drinks as good as the hype makes it out to be... Tried the famous Strawberry einspanner and while yes the drink is stunning and eating the whipped cream and freeze dried strawberries was really fun, it was impossible to drink the drink while on the move (you can't cap it without finishing a decent amount of the top layer) and the matcha itself was just ok. Strong flowery tea taste at first but progressively got too bitter and grassy for me over time. read more
My friend and I went to Nagomi on a Friday after work and got there around 4... and lo and behold, there was already a long line. I don't know if this place blew up on social media, but the hype is real. After waiting about 15 minutes (and honestly, the line never really dies down), we finally made our way into the small shop. There's no seating (purely takeout) so we ordered and stepped aside. I got the hojicha strawberry einspanner, while my friend ordered the matcha strawberry version, and both were delicious. Now, I'm no matcha connoisseur...I've tried higher-quality matcha before, but maybe my taste buds just aren't refined enough to always tell the difference, but this was genuinely good. The hojicha had a warm, nutty, roasted flavor that paired really nicely with the strawberry cream. But honestly, the matcha stole the show. The sweetness of the strawberry (both the puree at the bottom) and the cream went sooo well with the richness of the matcha, and I definitely noticed the quality. Not too bitter, but rich in every way. For me, Nagomi beats Tadaima for drink quality (while Tadaima wins in terms of location/vibes), but if you had to go anywhere in SF, Nagomi would be my place to go. P.S. One small thing about Nagomi (very minor): the quality control can be a bit inconsistent. But honestly, it makes sense since they were pretty slammed with orders when we went. I really wasn't impressed by the matcha I got from here. The matcha itself was more on the earthy side and almost tasted watered down & the strawberry cream on top was really thick but lacked flavor. read more
I strategically planned to come here at the time with the least wait (workday around 2pm) and the line was just 2 people which was lovely. I tried the strawberry matcha einspanner as it looked so enticing. I'd say it's a good combo of matcha/strawberry flavor but a bit too much whipped cream (if you get this one - grab a spoon, you won't be able to mix it in and drink through the thin straw they provide). I also felt it was too much ice compared to the drink. I'd come to try other drinks they have but won't spend an hour in a line. read more

I saw the line outside and wanted to check it out and pleasantly surprised. The strawberry matcha is super delicious and creamy. The strawberry flavor still lingers in the matcha even if you drink all of the syrup and cream even after mixing. I do recommend having it 100% sweet as the less sugar it gets bitter. My friend ended up getting only the regular matcha and was not too big of a fan, the regular matcha was bitter throughout as she also got 50% sweet and wished there was a 75% option. Perfect for strawberry matcha though. The cafe is small and has a lot of foot traffic and people ordering. Presentation was pretty and would go back for strawberry matcha. read more
Wooowwww, simply delicious!! I'm so glad I finally stopped by to try one of their drinks - Strawberry Matcha Einspanner. They are known for their ceremonial grade matcha from Japan, which is really strong. The drink consists of a strawberry whipped cream, strawberry purée, and dried strawberry on top. The matcha was indeed strong and paired so well with the strawberry ingredients. My favorite was defiantly the whipped cream. I also ordered a hot hojicha latte for my dad, and he enjoyed that as well. He said it had a strong roasted flavor. Very impressed with the drink that I ordered. There wasn't a line when I arrived on a Wednesday 30 minute before closing. I just wished that they closed at 6pm since I would have to get off work early to stop by. There are no seats inside which is also a bummer. I can't wait to try other drinks on their menu! read more
Strolling by with my date, I was excited to spot a sign for matcha soft serve. When am I ever not excited to see ice cream?He suggested we stop in and try it. what a sweetheart. We just finished a very nice meal elsewhere and walking afterwards, so it was icing on the cake. Self Order at the kiosk and he paid for my treat. I'm a happy girl How nice! The strawberries on top of the green matcha Drink is so pretty! Cups looked like a good size. The contrast in colors! Had the matcha soft serve which can also be swirled with vanilla if you like. This is a new cafe in FiDi, near the Salesforce building. It's pretty small inside, with little to no seating. The menu is pretty expansive with matcha and hojicha and there are some great options! I tried the Strawberry Matcha latte, and it was a touch too sweet. I don't think the drink needs additional sweetner in addition to the natural strawberry sugar. The matcha flavor also wasn't the greatest. I think this place is fine for a quick pick me up during the work day but I wouldn't be running back any time soon. read more
Even though café is in the name, it's a grab and go spot. The menu features coffee, hojicha, and soft serve, but most people come for their matcha, which is from Shizuoka, Japan. The line looked long, but I thought the wait wasn't too bad. It took ~15 minutes to order at the kiosk and I received my drink in ~10 minutes. There were 5 employees and they worked in an assembly line to push out drinks in a timely order. I already knew what I wanted, and it was the Strawberry Matcha Einspänner ($8.50). +Hand-whisked to order, the matcha was smooth and earthy. This was one of the most potent matcha drinks I've had, and it definitely gave me a mid-day boost! +As someone who usually orders less sweet, I thought regular sweetness (100% or 2 pumps of syrup) was good. +Strawberry was featured as a jam at the bottom and as freeze dried pieces on top, adding fruity and tart pops to the drink. +No upcharge for no ice +Aesthetically pleasing with the red & green that reminded me of Christmas +Cup & straw were durable -Cream had a greasy mouthfeel -Small for the price Side notes: 1.) Good matcha, same price as all of the other cafes popping up (8ish plus) with soft serve as well The star of the show is the fruit puree they add and sugary drinks if that's your go to I think I prefer a simpler latte and will keep my go to place in SF A secret This cafe hits on all the other viral trends in play and for that it's great! This is a relatively new Matcha spot that opened up in Fidi. I would definitely say this is more of a dessert much a shop as all of the drinks are on the sweeter side but this particular day I got a iced matcha with strawberry cream and I actually really enjoyed it. There are flakes of dried strawberry pieces on top and the matcha was pretty creamy and smooth with a layer of strawberry jam on the bottom too. The shop is pretty self-serve and you could just order on a kiosk inside and it very cutely decorated. This probably won't be my go to spot as it's a bit too sweet for an every day matcha, but glad it exists in the neighborhood as an option. read more

I found this place on social media and wanted to try it out for myself! My boyfriend and I are always looking for new and upcoming business' to support and try out. Since we were in the city- it was the perfect opportunity to try! This place was very easy to find and had a parking garage nearby that was reasonably priced! Finding parking on the Main Street was difficult so the parking garage was the next best thing. I was super excited to try and once we got to the cafe it looked so cute! Modern and chic, I really liked how you order off the kiosk, it's very calm inside- besides all the other customers, the workers inside seem so focused on their craft you kind of just want to watch them work! They do accept cash so if you don't have Apple Pay or want to use card just let them know at the counter! The drinks were absolutely delicious! Hand crafted and you watch them place all the toppings, it's so cool to watch! Maybe it's my excitement but I really enjoyed the experience starting with walking thru the doors, ordering and watching my drink be made. My boyfriend had ordered a vanilla matcha latte with a foam topping and I had ordered their viral strawberry matcha latte. It was great! I've heard people say they can't taste the matcha, I wonder if it's due to the sweetness leve they choose. I chose the lowest sweetness level due to preference and the matcha flavor was fantastic! Same with my boyfriend's order. We absolutely loved it! Finally social media proved itself, this place went viral for a reason! If you're in the area and love matcha, stop by for a drink! This matcha place is pretty good! The matcha is pretty strong and they hand whisk their matcha. I would get the strawberry matcha again but without the whipped cream. The whipped cream is a bit too excessive and 50cent more. You can adjust the sweetness, I like the 50% sweetness. $8 for a strawberry matcha which isn't cheap but kinda standard nowadays. Parking kinda sucks though, it's in financial district but since I work in financial district it's nice that it's a 8 minute walk from my office. read more
It's my favorite to go matcha spot. I did notice since opening, the first few weeks, the matcha was stronger. It's still good now but wish it was stronger. I love the strawberry matcha. Has the perfect sweetness. You order with the kiosk, therefore service isn't really there. But service of getting your drinks is pretty quick after ordering. read more

Place is quaint and was visibly very appealing I got their Strawberry matcha latte Their matcha was not good in terms of flavor (Was told it was from the Shizuoka Prefecture) but even when trying it at 50% sweet and 100% sweet, both drinks didn't taste good. The strawberry cream was the best part as it wasnt overly sweet and it did its best to balance the drink as a whole Dried strawberries was an interesting bite read more
