Food tasted okay, pretty average. The service was great! The waitress was really considerate of what we were wanting to try. I would give this place a better rating, but I got pretty bad stomach pain after

Basil Tempura (front), Dry String Beans and Veggie Ribs
    Andy N.

Mountain View only has one fully vegan restaurant and this is a great one to represent for the veg heads out there. Run by a small family, we felt right at home with their service and great food. We ordered three entrees and some brown rice on the side to share. Each dish was about $16 so average pricing for the area. The Basil Tempura was highly recommended and we did enjoy the spices they used for the dish. I thought it would be a bit crispier given that it's tempura but they do add on a light sauce, making it more of a stir-fry consistency. We also tried their Dry Braised String Beans with Soy Chicken and this was another standout. Like the previous dish, they do go a bit heavier on the sauce than I'd imagine so it's not a fully dry stir-fried dish, but a great one nonetheless. My favorite dish was their veggie ribs which was essentially their take on beef and broccoli. Their use of mushrooms here as the beef was ingenious and the meaty texture of it made it taste very realistic. Thanks Garden Fresh for being the lone fully vegan restaurant in the area. You're definitely a keeper.

I'd been craving vegan orange chicken for weeks, so I was on the hunt for a Chinese restaurant with good vegan/vegetarian options. I'm really glad I stumbled upon Garden Fresh! It has a small, quaint set-up with a mix of small and large tables. The menu was very extensive and there were a lot of delicious choices to choose from! The entrees and appetizers were both quite reasonably priced. Garden Fresh has a great lunch special deal that comes with rice and is only available on weekdays as well. During our visit, we chose the sweet and sour 'pork' along with the orange glazed chick'n and fried rice. Every item was so tasty and everything complemented each other so well! I loved that Garden Fresh included plenty of fresh vegetables and broccoli in each dish, especially since some restaurants tend to skimp on vegetables when ordering a la carte. What I loved the most about our experience was the service. Our server was so sweet and attentive! It was great chatting with her, and she made sure we had everything we needed. It felt like a very homey, comfortable experience. If you're looking for vegan Chinese cuisine in Mountain View/Sunnyvale, this is the place to go!

Gorgeous Basil Tempura!! Love it. Favorite dish here.

Love basil tempura and scallion cakes. I believe I've been coming here for over 20 years. The service is incredible. And the food is served very quickly. The ambience is very casual. They have tables inside and they have a couple of tables outside. It's really a wonderful place. Thank you, Alice for providing this Restaurant for all these years.

I'd give it 6 stars, if I could! Alice and Robert serve up delicious staples with hearty mock meats. Service with a smile! Don't let the fast casual ambience fool you - this is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten at. My go-to order: Veggie Chicken Chow Mein, Veggie potstickers (steamed), Tofu Delight, General's Veggie Chicken, brown rice Must-try and worth repeat visits!

A delectable meal that isn't overpowering. Stopped in for lunch and was presently surprised. The service was speedy and kind, food was yummy and filling, and overall vibe was filled with love/natural light/and beautiful plants. A fully vegan restaurant that deserves your patronage

Loved every dish I had this time! The service is wonderful I love the lady who runs this place - she is super polite, kind, and makes my day every time I visit this place. We tried: 1. Hot and sour soup (5/5): It was extremely delicious. Hot and spicy, perfect for the rainy weather. 2. Veggie ribs (5/5): Tastes like soft chewier seitan. We asked for extra spicy, and this was extremely hot! So watch out if you make modifications. 3. Veggie duck (5/5): My favorite! Its a dish I always get because it's super filling (most quantity of mock meat / protein you can get in a dish here). It's batter fried so I often don't eat the "skin" but it's tasty af. We asked for extra spicy but this dish is never spicy no matter what we request . 4. Jasmine tea (5/5): Surprisingly, I love this tea. It was perfect to have this in the winter. Try the veggie ribs, and veggie duck if you're visiting this place for the first time. 2 other options is Kung pao chicken and black pepper chicken - don't forget to ask them to make them spicy!

Amazing!!! We had a little bit of everything but your vegan heart will thank you!! Wonderful owner /waitress, very quick service

My visit on 10/13 consisted of an order of crunchy (or crispy? can't remember) sesame vegan chicken, Kung Pao chicken, and a side of white rice. Downed it with some jasmine tea with two slices of cake (chocolate and carrot) and my meal for two was complete. Unfortunately the sesame chicken was not crispy, which cost it a star, I mean what is crispy sesame chicken if it ain't crispy?! Anyway, everything else was delicious. Service was slower than usual but that would be due to the crowd that was consistently coming through the doors and as always service was friendly and courteous. Love the friendliness and hospitality of the owners. Once again, I highly stand by my recommendation.

Among the best vegan places in the south bay. Definitely worth a try. Love the texture of the orange chicken, and hunan style chicken.

Are they open during shelter in place?

Yes, I ordered and did a pick up of a veggie box a little over a week ago.

All vegan or? I see Pork and chicken mentioned in the reviews. Confused..

    All vegan. It's mock meat.

Can any of their dishes be prepared without oil I'm looking to eat something really healthy?

Some dishes may be available with no oil. Call and inquire.....

    Is everything here vegan?

Yes! Completely vegan. We've been coming here for 10+ years. Food is excellent and super flavorful! Try the black pepper "chicken ", veggie "ham" dish and chow neon. There's another location in Palo Alto that serves alcohol if that matters, this one… Read more

Reservation was easy to make over the phone and you have to preorder duck ahead of time. We also got pan fried buns, bok choy, and mandarin fish. Dishes are expensive but good quality. I read mixed reviews about the duck but I thought it was great - crispy skin and relatively tender/juicy meat. It is the first time I've seen an extra charge for the duck pancake wrappers; it was not a pleasant surprise but at least they were thin and delicious. We opted to have a soup made from the leftover duck and that was delicious. Service was also pretty good; they even packaged the leftovers for us. Highly recommend for a special occasion or to impress friends but too much of a splurge to go to regularly.

We are huge fans of their sister location, Treasure in Belmont, so we were really excited to try…read moreout Imperial Treasure for dinner. Unfortunately, it just wasn't as good overall as the Belmont spot. The space itself is older, and the seating feels pretty tight and not as comfortable. As for the food, we ordered the Peking duck, which came with a lot of meat, but the duck itself didn't taste fresh at all. It had that distinct, stale "old meat" taste to it, and the texture was completely off and mushy rather than having a nice, fresh bite. The xiao long bao missed the mark too--the wrappers were too thick and the filling wasn't nearly as savory or delicious as what we're used to. Even the basic steamed rice tasted like a cheaper, lower-quality grain. For the other dishes, the stir-fried scallion lamb was way too salty, even though we specifically asked them to go light on the salt, and it lacked that deep umami flavor they get so right at the other location. On the bright side, the Treasure's signature beef honeycomb tripe was actually really good, though the spice level is definitely on the higher side so beware if you're sensitive to heat. For dessert, I finished with the sesame glutinous rice balls in sweet rice wine because it's one of my absolute favorites, but it fell short since there was barely any wine or osmanthus flavor. The service was also pretty lacking throughout the night. They didn't even bother to clear our dirty dinner plates off the tight table after we ordered our dessert, so everything was incredibly cramped. They also completely ignored the rest of our Peking duck instead of proactively asking what we wanted to do with the carcass bones and the remaining meat. We had to specifically flag them down ourselves to ask about it and explain what we wanted done with it, which should really be standard practice for a proper duck service. Compared to the sister restaurant, the execution, environment, and service here just aren't quite there yet.

Must check it out; looks dated, but still open so, food should be decent? C1 lunch plate consists of barbecue roast pork fried rice, chicken Chow mien and an egg roll with the sweet sour dipping sauce. All greasy but tasty. Stir fry beef with bitter melon in black bean sauce and white rice that my friend got was healthier and pretty good; she liked it. For dinner at China Wok, another pal and I enjoyed the almost scalding hot Westlake soup to start, and then dug into the house Chow mien, then fish fillet with snow peas. Noodles were great texture with excellent wok hay flava and contained shrimp, pork, chicken, onions and bean sprouts. I really enjoyed the delicate white fish sautéed in opaque sauce with snow peas, carrots and water chestnuts. I found everything very tasty. Service was brusque and adequate at lunch, slightly more welcoming at dinner. Oh and if you need to use the loo, don't expect much. There's a key you take outside.. yup, exit the building, and it's in the rear. Serviceable toilet and sink.. dim lighting makes everything appear dingy. Exactly like oldie gas stations and rest stops. Maybe this building was a fueling station for trucks before someone turned it into China Wok. Still, the Chinese American food here is legit; basic but tastes good. Value, amenities, atmosphere and service, though, could stand to improve. Upping a star just for being a place that has stuck around for some decades and is still standing.

I thought the portion size for the Chow Mein was a bit small for the price. Service was abrupt and not super friendly. When it was time to pay, you have to step up to the cashier.
