    Stuffed sopapilla
    Jennifer L.

Having moved away from New Mexico a very long time ago to a state that has no New Mexican restaurants. I am back in Albuquerque and have been trying out all My favorite restaurants. I stopped in here tonight and of course, if you saw my other reviews, I had the stuffed sopapilla. I had a shredded chicken sopapilla with green chile and a ground beef sopapilla with red chile. Both were amazing and had great flavor. The red chile was slightly hotter than the green. However, both were spectacular. Salsa was not the best the rice I did not care for at all. The beans were as usual a little dry for me. The sopapillas that came with the meal were excellent. I had the silver margarita which was perfect addition to all the food. I have enjoyed eating our here before and this time did not disappoint either.

    Super Bowl soup Xmas

Started with the nachos. Nice and warm~ and crispy chips. We went with ground beef, it was a decent sized order for nachos. It just doesn't stand out. It's good. It was definitely entertaining with the jalapeños. One bite of jalapeño would be mild, the next would be Diablo levels of hot. My green chile stew was phenomenal! So many vegetables. The tortillas were delightful as well. My lunch partner said the Super Bowl soup was great. Good steak slices in it. But the favorite was the corn bread, not bread round blob on the tortilla chip (check the picture). Our server was great, she double checked an onion allergy for us. (Raw vs cooked)

I had the house special chili ribs and the ribs aren't flavorful. There is no distinctive taste to these ribs but chilied. But since the chili is tasteless themselves, it doesn't contribute to the overall flavor of the ribs anyway. 2/5 Stuff sopadillas with beef is very large and filling. For the lunch menu, the price is rather affordable for how much food I ordered. The tastes? I can't tell because it is comparable to any other restaurants. Nothing really stands out to me. 4/5 The regular sopadilla with honey as a side dish is amazing and you can't really go wrong with sopadilla and honey 5/5. Chips and salsa is continuously refilled as requested. Overall service is average, with water refill being done per request, not automatically. I personally would take tourists here to experience the cute vibe of New Mexico that this restaurant gives: a cute brunch with the ladies, a nice hang out and gathering with friends.

This restaurant is a facility in size, they absorb an entire parking lot full of people and you never feel crowded Beautiful bar area, patios are outstanding (will say the flies are annoying) but not much they can do about it Fabulous New Mexican cuisine. And top shelf steaks and pork Highly recommend reservations to ensure a smooth visit

The menu initially sounded creative, especially the waffles featuring pepitas, quinoa, and blue corn, which led me to assume that the same thoughtful use of ingredients would carry throughout the rest of the menu. The blue corn enchiladas were the clear highlight and were genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the red sauce served alongside them tasted noticeably canned. I had hoped for a fresh, house-made sauce that would complement the quality of the enchiladas. The calabacitas were also barely seasoned and could have benefited from much more flavor. The eggs Benedict was disappointing. The addition of a sausage patty made it feel more like a typical American breakfast than the regional and authentic dish I had expected. Many of the available sides were also potato-based, mainly hash browns or French fries, which made the menu feel less varied and imaginative. The blue corn porridge was acceptable, and the generous amount of berries helped bring the dish together, but the porridge itself could have been much more flavorful. There is plenty of potential here, particularly if more attention were given to fresh sauces, seasoning, regional ingredients, and a wider variety of side dishes. The service was good, and the meal overall was fine, but based on my experience, it was not distinctive enough to justify making a special trip.

I stopped by for lunch and found the menu offered a nice variety of choices. I ordered the Los Ranchos Turkey sandwich with homemade chips and a Lavender Iced Tea. Both were flavorful, and the homemade chips were an unexpected treat. The iced tea was ready right away and was a refreshing complement to the meal. My sandwich arrived about 24 minutes after ordering, which may have been due to the lunch rush. Including tip, lunch came to about $30. While the price point felt a little high for the overall experience, the quality and flavor of the food helped balance that out. Overall, I enjoyed the food and appreciate having another locally owned option in the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, my take away was that the owners, maybe managers, are new in the restaurant management space. It feels like a lot of different ideas are happening but not converging as well as they could. The general impression I got was: confusion. A few specific issues stood out: * Friendly, enthusiastic counter service, but overworked, focused on too many tasks. * Drip coffee was not ready at 10 a.m. * About a 20-minute wait at the table for coffee to brew * Huevos were nicely presented but uneven in execution (papas flavorful but a little too salty, beans bland and unseasoned) * Outdoor seating is a nice idea, but tables felt small and cramped * Heavy direct sun on outdoor tables (limited shaded seating; north side might be worth exploring) * Exterior branding does not clearly communicate that this is a restaurant - feels more like branding for tattoo parlor/vapeshop/auto detailing * Overall concept feels pulled in too many directions * Menus are difficult to read (cramped text, color choice, and font) To the owners: I really hope you make this work. I would consider bringing in a consultant re service, hiring a graphic designer to up the branding/menu game, and focus on food consistency. It may be worth looking at books on customer service and restaurant psychology such as: * Service Design: From Insight to Implementation * The Science of Shopping * the Restaurant & Bar Marketing series by Erik Shellenberger I would love to delete this review and replace it with 5 stars in the future.
