bottle of yogurt drink on a table
    Sara Jieyi T.

Love love love this place and love their garlic dip omg. I always get the sharwama plate with rice, bbq chicken and garlic dip and it fills my heart with joy every time. The plate comes in a large portion so I usually have it for two meals. A friend of mine recommended the Arab yogurt drink and it's definitely an acquired taste. The drink is salty and not sweet at all, but it paired well with the food I was eating. I couldn't finish though cause I'm just used to sweeter yogurt drinks. They renovated the interior and have ample indoor seatings. The staff there always look happy and friendly. Highly recommended checking out this place for a quick meal. I enjoyed the catering from here. Got to try a little bit of everything...some of the best falafel in the game! The shaved chicken was also incredible! Can't speak for the ambiance or service since I only experienced the catering but would love to come here in person!

Spicy beef shawarma with fattoush, garlic dip, rice, potatoes

This is a solid Mediterranean spot. I tried their spicy beef shawarma plate with fattoush, garlic dip, rice and potatoes, and their spicy garlic sauce. The highlight of the meal was definitely the garlic dip and spicy garlic sauce, which went perfectly with everything! The garlic flavor was super strong. I liked how the spicy garlic sauce had a tanginess to it which balanced out the savory, meaty flavors in the shawarma. The portion was pretty big so I ended up having leftovers. I discovered that the garlic dip completely changes texture when reheated (the oil and garlic split), but it just turned into a very tasty garlic oil. The rice and potatoes were a generous portion but I thought they were just okay. They were good accompaniments to the meat and sauces but were a little plain on their own. We also tried their signature burger which was quite dry and not super impressive. I would much rather get their plates over their burger.

Came here since I was visiting my friend in the area. I honestly didn't think much of this place but I was blown away. Friendly staff! And the rice pudding in the case was everything. I already told my friend that I want to go back.

The first time I ever had shawarma was over 10 years ago in the Cambridge/Boston area and I instantly fell in love with it. I think Garlic 'n Lemons is my new favorite place for shawarma in this area. My go-to is the mixed plate with spicy chicken and beef, half rice and half potatoes. The portions are humongous and the garlic sauce is so creamy and flavorful. I love mixing the garlic sauce into the rice and the meat. This is also the first time I see a spicy garlic sauce which also tastes great, but I prefer the regular one.

This is some of the better fresh Mediterranean food I have had. I used to come here for lunch monthly, and my office often orders a catered spread from them. Love the swarma and all the sides. Tabouli is dynamite. COVID has been hard for this place, but they are coming back. The whole place has been redone and is a nice dining area. Everything is fresh.

mixed combo shawarma plate- garlic potatoes, spicy chicken, original beef, greek salad, hummus, garlic sauce.

Absolutely my most favorite spot in Allston ma for food. The mixed shawarma plate with a base of spicy potatoes and some Greek salad. I get it with half hummus and half garlic sauce and then top it with tahini and spicy garlic. It's such a giant serving of food and always so delicious. You can't go wrong here. Their falafel and grape leaves are great too!

Spicy chicken with magic sauce. So good!

We ordered the cheese topokki (soft rice cake, fish cake, vegetable, & mozzarella in Korean spicy sauce) & the beef bulgogi bowl (fried marinated beef, vegetables, steamed rice & side of soup). The cheese topokki was just as good as we remembered - chewy, flavorful, comforting, & a little bit weird. The cheese was poorly distributed, but it was still very tasty. The beef bulgogi bowl was really underwhelming. Firstly, it was very little food. We were promised vegetables, but there were only a few scarce onions & zucchini pieces mixed in. It was also dry. It was devoid of moisture & sauce, so we added some from the fridge at home. The side of soup was a joke. It filled only about 2/3 of the container & looked so sad, we wondered if it was the sauce that we we so desperately needed. Nope, just a meager amount of watered down miso soup. So the conclusion - great topokki, sub-par bulgogi, non-existent soup.

For the food, we got the tuna kimbap, Seoul toppoki, and bulgogi hot pot for two. Everything was SO good. The ingredients were fresh and the food was flavorful (sweet from the bulgogi, savory from the mushrooms, spicy from the toppoki sauce, salty from the tuna, and sour from the pickled vegetables). The price for the portion size was a great value and we ended the night feeling very full and even had to pack up an entire container of the hotpot for two that we didn't finish. Overall, we had a great time and I can't wait to come back again. This might be my new favorite Korean food spot in the Boston area.

I'm so glad Uyghur cuisine has made its way to Boston…read more I was first introduced to it years ago at Silk Road in Cambridge, and I've been hoping more Uyghur restaurants would open ever since. Jahunger truly delivers. The restaurant immediately sets the mood. Candlelight, the scent of incense, traditional instruments on the walls, and pothos plants growing from mounted glass jars all make the space feel warm and inviting. One warning: unless you arrive around 6 p.m. or earlier, expect a wait. (It's popular.) Oh, and the food is worth it. The leek and egg dumplings tasted homemade in the best way: slightly rustic, fresh, and delicious. The hand-pulled noodles are the stars. Every noodle dish we ordered had the perfect chewy texture. My favorite was the Laghman noodles, though the Jahunger noodles were a close second with their rich spices and satisfying heat. The mee fen and stir-fried green beans both packed a respectable kick and leaned a little salty, but not enough to keep me from happily polishing them off. Don't forget the tea! It's beautiful to look at, filled with all sorts of ingredients (Chinese jujubes!), and only lightly sweet, which I appreciated. Then came the showstopping honey cake. The cake itself was fluffy, while the filling had a firmer, almost sticky texture with deep caramelized flavors that reminded me of burnt caramel in the best possible way. Paired with what tasted like coffee ice cream, it was the perfect ending to the meal. Jahunger is one of those restaurants that makes you want to come back before you've even paid the bill. I'm so glad Jahunger made it to Cambridge; the Boston food scene is richer because it's here.

Sultan: The lamb was stewed for a long time until incredibly tender and melted in your mouth, with absolutely no gamey taste. Although it's called "sweet lamb", it didn't have a strong sweetness; instead, it had a typical mild, complex flavor of onions, cumin, coriander seeds, and other spices. The Yellow Rice was likely seasoned with turmeric and saffron, making it very flavorful. The basmati rice grains were distinct but not too dry, perfect for mixing with the sauce. The White Garlic Sauce wasn't overpowering; it mainly added a touch of acidity, which, along with the cool, sweet corn, helped to cut through the greasiness. Actually, it was completely different from any other Moroccan lamb stew I've had. It was more like Yemeni Mandi, but with more layers of flavor and a more universally appealing taste. As a fusion dish, how can it not be considered a success?
