Be aware, I would not recommend this place based on our recent experience. My husband brought his tractor in for an oil and filter change, and when we got it back, we discovered the oil filter had never even been replaced, they left the old one on. We were charged and they didn't even do the job! On top of that, they told him the tractor was ready for pickup, so he made the trip out there, only to be told once he arrived that it actually wasn't ready. That's a complete waste of time and shows a lack of communication and organization. Mechanics are inexperienced, and management is not properly overseeing the work or the customer experience. Ordered a part on Monday and asked for it to be overnighted. Was so happy as it was in stock and appeared all ok as immediately got charged nearly $600 for it Today is Wed...part not here. Called and apparently not as big of an issue for them. They found it still sitting in the back room. I am stuck on a farm without a tractor. Not good. Hoping they take a better initiative and actually get it out today for delivery. My advice.... Get a tracking number from them or call to confirm something got shipped as asked. read more

First, this review is of my sales experience there. I purchased a new tractor, and the entire time I was buying it I felt as if the salesman (Will) was talking down to me, as if i shouldn't be bothering him. my feelings were he didn't like the fact that I wasn't a "real" farmer. I have 68 acres of forest to maintain, so while not thousands of acres for crops, I still needed a tractor. I finally called the manager, who said "he's like that. I'll talk to him". it made a bit of difference, but not much. he would avoid answering questions, just waving his hands (literally) and saying something about some part of what I asked him. you can guess I was starting to be irritated by this, so refused installation of simple things I could do myself. that also pissed him off. I finally took possession of my tractor, and it's great. I sent email about if there were turf tires available for this tractor. I got one word back. "yes." I sent a reply saying great, can I get a price for a set? no answer. this week I sent an email asking about rear remotes. no answer. so I called, was answered by a nice salesman, who regretfully told me I needed to talk with Will. he called a while later, and just told me to cal, parts if I wanted anything. I mentioned I don't know what I need, and he call parts, and hung up. if you go to garton tractors in Santa rosa, don't ask for will. and if you get him anyway, good luck. read more

I have bought parts for my 8N and MF30. The guys are helpful and knowledgeable. I had a leaky hydraulic line and needed a new "o" ring. The new rubber "o" ring was superseded by a nylon part that cost about $17. The guy did a double take at the price and said, "Let me go find an "o" ring for you." The $2 "o" ring fixed my problem. I have bought other parts there - oil filters, tips for my rippers and once I had them weld my wood splitter. The stop plate had been pushed off because of the force of the splitter and the log was too much. The guy who did the welding reinforced the plate with additional pieces of steel. He really had a sense of mechanics and knew his trade! If you ever have welding to do, these guys can do it up right! I also like to look at the old 8N tractors they have. They sell the New Holland line - so they have all the parts for the Ford tractors. Occasionally they will have an 8N around. read more

I called Garton Tractor's service department and asked them when they could get my to my Kubota tractor. The PTO had been damaged in a rototiller vs rebar incident. The service guy said probably 2 to 3 weeks so I dropped it off. Along with the PTO repair I wanted a service, new battery, new seat, and new operation decals (the others were unreadable after 17 years in the sun). Jim, in service, checked me in and called me the next day to let me know what was damaged. He kept me apprised of all costs and the timeline. It was completed in a little over two weeks and for under their ballpark estimate. As I had expected, it required major work. Trans and hst required removal and then had to be separated to get to damaged fork and gears. It was completed in under 3 weeks. These guys did an excellent job. I wouldn't take a tractor anywhere else. I had previously taken it to another tractor service in the area and requested the same things. I dropped it off on a Thursday and they said they would get back to me on Monday. The following Friday I had still not heard from them and gave them a call. They said they had not had a chance to look at it but when driving it it seemed like there was noise coming from the front end. I told them to not do anything else and I picked it up the following week and took it to Garton. read more

Where to begin... Sales: I had two used tractors and I was looking to upgrade to a new, bigger, tractor that could handle the hills and minimize the chance of rolling. Devon did an outstanding job of recommending the right tractor with extra wide wheelbase, wheel weights, and water in the tires. He then went above and beyond and helped me price my used tractors and recommended the best option to sell them. They both sold same day for full price. I called Garton to come out to do a pre-purchase inspection on a used tractor. They told me twice so-and-so is not in, he will call you. He never called. I left voicemails, no call back. Finally talked to the guy, said "Sure, can do but call back later". Called back and never heard from again. Incredibly frustrating read more

Yes Steve B. you are correct, our service tech overlooked the hydraulic filter when we did the service on the TZ24 you purchased used from us. When you brought this to our attention, we provided you with the oil and filter at no charge, and I believe we offered to come up and make the change for you. We have purchased two Takeuchi excavators from Garton and have called the Santa Rosa shop for service and parts from time to time and I would say the experience was average. Recently we called to get a quote for service on our machines. The service was done but the service man said he didn't have the paper filter that goes in the fuel water separators and would have to come back to do those when he got the parts. When we got the bills for the two services we noticed that on one invoice we had been charged $22.00 per gallon for motor oil and on the other invoice we were charged $82.00 per gallon for the motor oil. We were also charged for 5 gallons. Our TB180 only takes 2.5 gallons! When we asked about getting the water separator filters changed, we were told that if we wanted to buy the water separators, they would cost us $180.00 each plus an additional service call. She simply would not acknowledge that the paper filters were not installed when the service man performed the service. When we called to discuss the billing we were given the hard ball runaround by the girl in their billing department. We have been told she is no longer there and that the service manager would call us back to discuss the billing. After several more calls and several weeks, we have received no call back from the service manager. The sad part is that we would like to buy another excavator but with no after sale service we are looking at other brands. We will call tomorrow and try one more time to speak to the service manager. So I buy this slightly used tractor, less than a hundred hours on it. They say they'll change the oil, the filter, etc. Yes, there was a new oil and air filter - but what I could'nt see underneath, they LEFT THE OLD ON ! Same old hydralic and hydrostatic filters, I take them in and show the guy, he says they don't need to be changed until three hundred hours. THE BOOK SAYS CHANGE AFTER THE FIRST FIFTY HOURS. Hey, don't be cheap, stupid, whatever, this equipment cost plenty and the customer deserves what is promised and implied. read more
