After her tooth extraction.. all smiles!! You rock Dr Niu!

Dr. Niu is great with kids! He is passionate and caring with his patients and ensures he provides a thorough check up. I appreciate how the entire office ensures they create a positive experience/environment for the kiddos! My son left happy

A letter from the father of a three-year-old child Salomon; Solomon is a healthy and lovely boy born in December 2016. The doctor told me at birth that he was a very healthy baby. I think we will raise this child very smoothly. But based on my inexperience and the mentality of loving him very much, I allowed he kept holding the bottle to sleep at night, and when he woke up in the middle of the night, he still sucked the bottle until he was three and a half years old. When Solomon teeth erupted, the teeth broke frequently, but I didn't take it seriously, I thought that the child would still grow teeth anyway. Only now I know that this is a very wrong idea. At the beginning of 2020, I took Solomon to Taiwan for a trip, but he kept crying when he got on the plane and we were almost kicked off from the plane by the airline. I took Solomon to a dentist in Taiwan.  But Solomon was very uncooperative and vigorously resisted the treatment. The dentists in Taiwan suggested treating his caries under sleep therapy, that is, general anesthesia. But I have only limited time in Taiwan. I had to give up having him treated in Taiwan. After returning to the U.S., I took him to a pediatrician. The doctor suggested that he must have dental treatment immediately, so he referred Solomon to Dr. Niu, a pediatric dentist. When we took Solomon to Dr. Niu's clinic, I saw many children of the same age as Solomon in the clinic. I knew that I had come to the right place. However, I was still influenced by the concept of sleep therapy as it was recommended in Taiwan.   When I communicated with Dr. Niu, Dr. Niu patiently explained and informed the risks of sleep therapy. So I decided to only use the wrap up method to treat Solomon's teeth. Because the decay of Solomon's teeth is very serious, theoretically many of his teeth need to be pulled out.  But Doctor Niu does not aim at making more money and only perform easy treatment. Dr. Niu had tried to preserve Solomon's teeth as many as possible. His intention touched my heart very much. During the first treatment, although Solomon resisted vigorously, Dr. Niu patiently completed the first treatment. Because Solomon's teeth decayed so extensive, he needed several appointments to complete the treatment.  Therefore we made an appointment for the next treatment. I thought I could rest myself and no longer worry about Solomon's teeth. However, there are unforeseen circumstances that the new corona pneumonia (COVID 19) had severely hit the world. Everyone must stay at home and almost all businesses must be shut down. But Doctor Niu still concerned and paid attention to Solomon's teeth. During that period, Solomon's untreated teeth became inflamed again and he kept crying. I had to ask Doctor Niu for help. Dr. Niu quickly returned our call and called the pharmacy to prescribe antibiotic medication. Although there was improvement after Salomon took anti-inflammatory drugs, the swelling still could not be completely subsided. I had to ask Doctor Niu for help again. I thought that Dr. Niu might prescribe more potent anti-inflammatory drugs. Unexpectedly, Dr. Niu decided to take the risk of the new corona pneumonia epidemic to treat Solomon's teeth at a urgent basis. This touched us very much. When we arrived at the clinic at an emergency basis, Dr. Niu had to complete the treatment of Solomon's teeth alone without the help of an assistant. After Solomon went home, Dr. Niu called me to follow up Solomon's treatment. We can finally see Solomon happily playing and eating what he likes again. I would like to thank Dr. Niu for his kindness, care and patience for Solomon, which allows us to be at ease as the parents.

This wrap cost $100!!! Don't go here!!!!

We went to the Niu last Monday to fill up my kid's cavities teeth. We felt super duple disappointed. Highly not recommend this businessman My kid went to this clinic for 2 years. They ask my 6 years old kid to fill cavities half a year ago. Because of COVID we finally decide to do it ASAP on Oct. They refuse my request, ask to visit the office do the check and x-ray again, and I have to pay a $100 deposit first, then they will arrange the operation. That's the money for appointment only, not pay for the treatment. They said if your kids need restraints, we will not return $100, this deposit will pay for the wrap Finally, we got an appointment last Monday. We arrived at the office in the morning, and wait for about 10 mins. From we step in the office on Monday morning, meet the dentist first, no smile on his face, no greeting, only show the kid and me his poker face. Even I talk with him, he didn't talk me back, just go away They didn't allow me to go with my 6 years old kid, ask her to get in alone. My kid very cooperative, go with them by herself. Then the dentist gave her local anesthesia in the mouth. Let her out of the room, come back to the waiting area. I asked her how do you feel. She said she felt weird. Nobody talked with her or cared about her feeling. After 10mins, they call her back to the operation room and start filling. But after the operation 5 mins, my kid came back to me. And refuse to go back to the room, hiding behind me. Dentist Niu very mad and complained to me, she's keeping moving, I cannot keep operation! She's not cooperative! You either choose to wrap her or stop the operation, which means whatever I choose I have to pay the $100 to him. Because they charge for the wrap, and if I cancel the operation they'll charge too. Blame on the kid and let the kid feel he's angry, is one of the ways to let kids don't want to go back to operation. So they can have a reason to wrap the kid and charge me $100 Dentist Niu and the office manager Jenny standing at the door, block the way and waiting room exit. They said you must take off her sweater now, keep repeat it push me to do it I beg them, give me several mins, let me talk with my kid. Because I need to know why she refused to do it. I need to make her calm and back to normal. I never force her to do anything since she was a baby, she always very kind, calm, and negotiable. She always talks in a soft voice They said you must take off her sweater now! We don't have time to wait for you to talk with her or call her daddy My kids never cry or refuse to go to any doctor, dentist's office. Even when she got the shots, she doesn't cry. She even very expecting the operation yesterday. Because we read a lot of picture books, and it helps her reduce flossing time But when I tried to force her to take off her sweater, she cried and yelled Too much air in my mouth I don't want to do it I don't want to go back I don't want to brush my teeth anymore I will not floss my teeth anymore I took off her sweater and hold her back to the operation bed, my heartbroken too, I told her, mommy will stay with you, don't be scared Dentist Niu heard what I told her. I helped him finished the wrapping. He said in a very cold mood and with his poker face, Mother needs to get out now After wrapped, my kid totally calms down, she just staring her eyes at the ceiling, no yelling, no moving, no response I feel very regretful and sad, I force my kid for $100, I even didn't know why she did this My kid has 2 sides of teeth that need filling, I asked the office manager. Since you already wrapped her, can you finish 2 sides, the left side and the right side this time? She even doesn't want to ask for me, I beg her several times, she went to the operation room, but she still didn't ask for me. Just told me, Niu will see the situation to do. After the operation, they told me, they even didn't finish one side, she still needs to finish two sides decay next time. And ask me to pay another $100 for the next appointment After I back home, I realized, this is their way to treat kids, let them dislike the operation, and refuse to do it. Then they can take your money from the deposit I feel very disappointed with the businessman Niu

I don't write reviews as usual if it's not sth really good but this one I'd give a negative if possible! Yes dr niu maybe nice and experience for his presence when u greet him and the way the he talk to your kid. That's the reason why I'm willing to give one star! My kid went there for her cavity treatment and one of the teeth got infected! We went to another dentist for consultation ended up we had to remove it and put a spacer on. What's worse is that it also happens to my sister's two daughter for the same issues!!! Is it really a coincidence or misconduct!? 3 in a route? Really?? Think triple before taking your kid for treatment!! I can't describe how mad I was when I acknowledged the error and had my kid go through this pain! I wouldn't recommend!

    Before braces. Yikes!

For a place that's supposedly committed to pediatric dentistry, Parklane sure makes it difficult for kids to be seen. The pediatric dentist is only available on Wednesdays, which is probably where most of our issues arose. During our 4yo son's cleaning/checkup in April 2026, we were told that he may need a tooth extraction soon or the infection in one of his teeth might spread to his other teeth. We decided not to schedule the extraction at that time as we needed to think about it and the timing of the procedure. A month later, in May 2026, our son was complaining of the tooth pain, so we called to schedule the appointment to pull the tooth, only to be told that an appointment won't be available until August 2026. That seems an awful long time to wait to pull an infected tooth, but apparently, 3 months is the earliest availability. We brought our 1yo daughter in for her cleaning and exam. It took 1.5 hours, and of that, 1 hour and 15 min was waiting. Waiting in the lobby ~25 min to be admitted. In the room, waiting for 55+ min to be seen. Even with nonstop bluey loop (not full episodes, but a YouTube loop of random clips), our toddler was going nuts and so were we. I had to go move the car at some point, which I guess is when the dentist came in and did the cleaning (hubby said it took at most 10 min). You'd think that pediatric dentists, especially the ones who see younger patients, would understand the need for timeliness with energetic toddlers. We're switching dentists now, crossing our fingers that the paperwork transfer will go smoothly.
