The waitresses are friendly and warm. The food prices are fairly reasonable and I've been happy with everything I've ordered so far. First off, you kinda do have to go on the right music night, or you may be overwhelmed by the music. They have different options, and you can check the schedule on-line. It's whatever floats your boat. I enjoyed the food very much. Their truffled fries were fantastic. I don't know what they do to make their fries stay crisp like that, but they were crisp throughout. They added a nice amount of truffle oil so that the flavor was infused on every fry. That's pretty impressive! The burger was also delicious. The meat had such a rich meaty flavor, like it was aged just right. I eat lots of burgers because I love burgers, but the flavor of the meat in this burger stood out. We had the filet skewers, and these were also good. Panko crusted brie wasn't bad, but I'm not a huge fan of brie, so you have to take my friend's word for it-she said they were fantastic. Came here on a Thursday night for country line dancing with some girlfriends. Band was awesome! The Scotty Mac Band. Owner was super cool! He brought us all a round of shots!! So sweet of him :-) Nice crowd, place seemed clean overall. Service was excellent. We all ordered different drinks, reasonably priced; none of us ordered food so I can't comment there. I gave this place another chance last weekend and went for the UFC fight on Saturday. Friends and I were seated outside which was disappointing because I wanted to watch inside like we have previously done. We paid a $10 cover for each person. There was no service, we all had to go inside to order from the bar which was inconvenient when trying to watch the events. There were only 5 food items to choose from. My veggie burger was undercooked and soggy, our tots were overcooked and hard. Most of the earlier fights were displayed on a small tv outside which was hard for us to see. Then when the last 3 fights were put on the projector, we couldn't see for the first fight on the projector because it was still too light outside to see. After several less than par experiences, I will not be giving Gaslamp any more of my business. read more

St. Patrick's Day 2012. Sportive Tricks was playing! (Love them!) But this isn't their review. The table service was quite slow. I understand waitresses being busy on a night when every table is full, and the bar is overflowing. This is hopefully a predictable outcome for a bar on a major drinking holiday. Schedule your staff appropriately. Our first waitress had her tables spread out across the entire floor and couldn't attend us properly. We had to ask for water to be brought 5 times, our fountain drinks never got refilled, and our beer bottles were long empty before we were able to order fresh ones. The food tastes fine, but it took a long time to arrive. I really feel badly for the band that performed. I have been to their shows at other locations and believe me when I say that they have an excellent sound! This venue is HORRIBLE for live music. In order to be heard over the general din of the bar they had to be pumped up so loudly that it distorted their sound. The feedback from the mics and monitors was so bad that their show was cut short. I came to the Gaslamp to hear Sportive Tricks, they're the reason I gave my money to the restaurant. Unfortunately, should they play at the Gaslamp again, I will not be attending. I will vote with my dollar and won't support a business that treats their customers and their hired musicians poorly. read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would. My husband and I called to see if they were open for dine in due to the COVID. The staff who answered excitedly said they were. We asked if they had any type of music and she said they have a live band. We got disconnected so we called back, the second staff member, whom different than the first individual whom answered confirmed they have a LIVE band. We made reservations and bought tickets online, which was almost the same price as purchasing at the door. Note to every customer, purchase at the door: so, anyhow, we get there at our assigned time and there is a big jumbo screen. So we ask if they in fact have a live band and the staff stated they do, but the band is inside and the customers view or watch the band on the screen. This is NOT what was told to us, so we ask for a manager. The manager comes out and basically stated that their staff is VERY well trained and would had informed us that the band would be on a screen. Basically, she called us liars. Then she proceeded to inform us that she did not know where we are from and this is LA County where people do not have live bands. No, we are not from LA county, however, my husband and I have traveled all over trying to find sanity in live music and have found restaurants who provide such. Again, she was insinuating we were expecting an absurd request that we in fact called in to verify. So, before you purchase tickets, make reservations , know it is on a jumbo-tron and NOT live AND if you are told differently when you call in, you will be called a liar and you will not get a refund. read more

Went to the Gaslamp a Sunday afternoon a few weekends ago to see a good friends band play. I was surprised the stage was pretty large and a good sound system to boot. They sounded really good. I had the Diablo Burger, topped chipotle sauce, jalapeno jack cheese, jalapeno-honey, and it comes with fries. I got to tell you, this burger was great. Nicely prepared, and excellent presentation. I like my food on the spicy side, and this was just that. It blew my head off. Loved it. Was pretty messy though because of the jalapeno-honey. Make sure you get a glass of water to dip your fingers in and extra napkins, you'll need them. Definitely worth a visit. I can't wait to visit again. read more

Gaslamp is a place that I would never go, but did because I had a Groupon. I remember the location from my college days when it was Live Bait, and wasn't sure I wanted to go with my family, but I'm glad we did! The servers were soooo friendly and nice. In fact, everyone working was great, and if you asked for something of someone other than your server, they would happily help you instead of saying, "I'll get your server". So this really is what made our experience nice. Actually, maybe it was the buffalo wings that made our experience nice. They were crisp on the outside, with a perfect buffalo sauce. The inside was moist. So you would crunch through buffalo sauce into a moist and tender chicken. The blue cheese had big chunks of blue cheese in it. They were sooooo good. Next, we had chilli cheese burgers and fries. I liked that the burger was served on a brioche bun. Not many sports bars would offer their burgers on a premium bun. The fries were served in a little tin can, and although I believe the fries could have been better, the presentation was great. Lastly, we had the peanut butter cordon bleu for desert. It was oiey and gooey with peanut better, caramel, jam and nutella. It was a bit too drenched and rich. Noone in our party could eat more than one or two bites. It was a lot of good things on one plate. It could use some refining to have the flavors work together rather than just being there for the show. Speaking of shows.... they had a wonderful jazz band playing. The volume was perfect; loud enough to groove but not too loud to talk to your people. I went there on a Friday night for 80's night. We got there around 7:30 and there wasn't a soul in there aside from a server or two. Needing a more energetic environment, our group decided to go to George's Greek Cafe on 2nd street to get dinner. We returned to Gaslamp at 9PM where people were starting to arrive. There was no cover and no line. Awesome. It was still fairly empty, but totally fine. We were seated at a booth. One thing I found funny was that our server asked us that no one in our party open a tab at the bar because tables need to have thier own tab for faster service. We all figured she wanted the tip, not the bartender. We were fine with it, but as the night got busier, this became a huge problem because she was nowhere to be found half the time. That may have not been a bad thing though because we received quite a suprise when we saw the bill and the drink prices. $120 for 5 people. Each had around 2 drinks average (one guy had 3 rum and cokes). My girlfriend had a long island, which was probably the craziest thing we ordered. Thankfully as the night went on I forgot about the pricey tab because the 80's band, Knyght Ryder, was incredible. I've seen them before but they are still as entertaining to see as the first time I saw them. The energy in the dance area was great. The age range is very wide - I saw an couple in their 50's dancing to the music next to a group of 20-somethings. And, of course, there's always the sleezy looking drunk 30 year old eyeing the 20-somethings and trying to dance with them. Ended up having a blast there. Left around 1AM and my ears were ringing all the 30 miles home. Can't wait for the next time I go. This time we'll order beers though (hopefully those are $8 each though). read more

Overall, the band sucked and they did a bunch of covers and none of their own songs but I just had too much fun drinking and dancing that I didn't care because everyone else was dancing. My girlfriend and I went on Thursday night and totally had a blast! We got there super early, so we had awesome seats at the bar with a great view of the stage. All of the bar staff that evening were fantastic and completely took care of us. Thursday's are 90's nights, and the cover bands they chose were on point, especially the Great Pumpkin. Ok, I got a living social deal $20 for $40. I never been to this place before, so I just gave it a try. I made a reservation on 8:00 pm on Sat. I went there like 8:15 pm. When I went in, I asked the casher girl I had reservation. She ignored me for like 7 or 8 mins. I was like what was going on???(she was talking to her friends on phone for 7 or 8 mins!!) After she finished, she asked me for my first and last name, and said she couldn't find it. BAD START!! So I decided to pick a table since there only about 10% customers. (Mostly empty) I ordered diablo burger, it costs $11 for only burger!! Then i added a parmesan garlic fries $4.5. My family had flat iron steak $20 and trio of sides $11. The food was fine. We also ordered some cocktail drinks. It's range from $8.5 to $11. At the time there was a band. They played music and sang few songs. The environment was good. Until 9:10 pm, people started to come from no where. (that was like 70% people) Most of them stayed in the bar area. After 9:30 pm, they started to bring out a DJ. My mom and I went on a Thursday night to see the Tonic show. I placed reservations online through Gaslamp's website intending to call later to make sure the reservation went through. I of course forgot but the next day got a friendly reminder of our reservation. When we got there the hostesses were so sweet and very helpful. We were seated and our waitress (lexi) came over instantly. I ordered a cocktail and my mom got a red wine. The wine was terrible and lexi was totally on top of it! We ordered our food (Blacked chicken sandwich, Mushroom Burger! Sides: sweet potato fries and tots) OMG it was amazing! everything was amazing. Lexi was super attentive and nice and we would go back just for her! I would say the only thing we weren't vibing on was the fact that the owner of the restaurant preformed before the major band (tonic) and it was very weird. Trying to get everyone to buy drinks and stuff while on stage. Not very appropriate but hey to each their own. I have been to the Gaslamp several times. I am only writing this because I was trying to look up the address to give my friends directions to meet me there for some drinks when I cam accross this site and read some of the reviews. I couldn't believe what I was reading and as a person who works in the industry felt it sounded like most of the reviews were written by people who must have been idiots and gotten kicked out. I have always had a good time each time I have been. I would say the drinks are cheaper than all the big places in Long Beach. Cheaper than the Yard House, Kohiba, Belmont Brewing company or pretty much anywhere I have been in Long Beach. I have had burgers there that are good, but I love their calamari. To me it is the best I have ever had, its size is almost big enough to be a full meal and it is under $10. As for the entertainment I love their 80's band on Fridays. They have such a great vibe and it seems that everyone knew all the words to every song. The crowd seems just as good as I remembered from the last time I went and it was easier to get in. Thursdays to me are more fun than Fridays because they have the same type of people, but are less crowded. I work on Saturdays, so I haven't had a chance to check out their Saturday band myself, but have heard good things. I bartend in LA , but live in LB and when I get off work early or take the night to hang our with friends that is where I go. I would definitely recommend the place. read more

Recently, chose this establishment to celebrate with my large party of 25 for Sunday brunch. We were expecting it to be blues music as advertised, but it ended up being light rock. However the band was really good and very enjoyable!To my surprise, the lead singer came up to me on break to me how to pronounce my mom's name so they could sing her happy birthday -- I didn't even ask her to do that. Enjoyed the food and drinks. Had some issues with the service, but I must say the owner bent over backwards to fix the issue. He apologized for the hostess giving us a new server. I reserved a table of 16 for a Comedy and Jazz show to celebrate my promotion. Before I arrived, the hostess sat two couples at my table. Upon my arrival, I informed the hostess that there were people at my table who weren't my guest. When the hostess asked them to move, they refused. I asked for management, whom never came to address the situation. A bouncer asked me to step outside to speak to me, he apologized and said the hostess made a mistake by sitting the four unwanted guest at my table. He informed me that he will have them move once they finished eating. Of course that never happened. Not only did he lie, I felt he mocked me. The four unwanted guest were rude and loud all night. The band there starts at 10pm and let me tell you not only can they play music from AC/DC to Morrissey but LADIES....these guys are hot!!! And Fellas...if your looking for some hot ladies....I say gooooooo!!!! The crowd there is awesome...very friendly, I met some sexy females as well as some sexy ass guys.... So not that long ago I realized that I have yet to write a review for this place. Well since I've only been here on Friday nights for '80s night, I can only speak for that night only. Well as my fellow yelpers have mentioned, this is a 21+ club gets an A-okay in my book. lol The live band is awesome singing covers from Michael Jackson to Journey. :o) From experience, I guess the quality of your drink depends highly on who makes it there because I have had some great tequila sunrises here worth the $$ but some pretty awful cough-syrup tasting screwdrivers (how can you mess up orange juice + vodka??? come on people.) Overall, this place is great whether you just want to have chill and listen to great music, or cram onto the already small dance floor and belt out your best rendition of your favorite '80s song. lol P.S. Very nice recommendations from our server. Our waitresses, yes we had two, one was shadowing to learn. They were very sweet and always swung by to check up on us; also very outgoing (randomly comp my gf's heels). Music, the band that night was very good! By far one of my favorite hangout spots on a Friday night. Wish it wasn't so far from home, or I'd come here way more often than a handful of times a year! I only come have some drinks with my friends while we rock out to our favorite 80s cover band Knyght Ryder. The lead singer is so dreamy! Pretty lame that they started charging cover after 930pm. But it's only $5, so whatevs. Only eaten here once, just your standard bar food. Burgers, fries, nachos. Decent enough. Drinks are decently priced, mind you I generally get a vodka soda, so I don't know if they make fancier drinks than that. Last time I went, there was a girl selling jello shots. The crowd here is a bit older lately, but I guess that's to be expected since it is 80s music. Great food, TERRIBLE service. We went to Gaslamp Friday night for a 30th birthday. Granted, we had a group of ten, but the lack of service was ridiculous. We ordered pretty quickly after arriving and eight of us got our food. The birthday girl did not and neither did another guest. When our waitress finally returned, we pointed out the fact that we were missing entrees. She left and came back about 30 minutes later, still without the entrees. At that point she told us that they had been delivered to another table and that she had put the order in again. When one of the customers told her he no longer wanted the food, her reply was, "I wish you would have told me before I out in the order." Really? We wish you would do your job. She never once asked if anyone would like another drink, so we went to the bar ourselves and tipped the bartender as we went. As if that weren't enough, when we got our part of the bill, she had entered 3 burgers, but no drinks. We told her about the mistake, and it took another 30 minutes to resolve the problem. On a positive note, the burger and the veggie burger were delicious and the tater tots were nice and crispy. We'll be back, but definitely not in that waitresses section! read more

I had no idea how big this place is inside. I went with a friend for brunch. They had live blues going on until 3pm on weekends. The menu for brunch is awesome. I wanted the lobster Benedict but when I see Chicken Fried Steak on a menu I have to order it. I from Texas. I can't help it. Most restaurants screw it up so I am constantly trying to find the best one in California. The portions were large and the CFS was actually pretty good. My friend says he gets the chilaquiles every time because they taste like home (Sinaloa). We also split the french toast. Huge stack with bacon and bananas and a syrup that wasn't too sweet. I could bathe in that dish. Truly delicious. You will see me frequent here a lot in the next few months. I have to try some other dishes.! I went to the Gaslamp about three weeks ago for their live jazz series; there was a female jazz artist performing who was fabulous! She was very talented and I really enjoyed the show. The ambiance at The Gaslamp was very nice, I liked the decor and the lighting, and the alcove booths against the back wall and sides were a great touch that added a lot of classiness. The service was wonderful, our waitress was friendly and prompt. The only drawback, and it's a major one, is that their drinks are TERRIBLE!! I ordered a caramel apple martini and it tasted like sugar mixed with the cheapest liquor I could ever imagine. I sent it back and ordered a lemon drop, and when it came it tasted again like a pound of sugar with a faint aftertaste of lemon. I don't know if they're watering their alcohol or if the management is very cheap and so they're hardly adding any alchohol to the drinks and are trying to make up for it with copious amount of syrups, or if their bartenders are just that bad, but when I go again I'm placing a safe bet and sticking to water with lemon. read more

I'm pretty much intent on stating that the best thing on the menu is the appetisers. I've tried a few sandwiches, but they didn't quite tempt my palate. Also, the calamari had way too much sauce on it (yep, the calamari is deep fried then smothered in a ginger sauce). All in all, this is really a place to hear a band (bring ear plugs for fear of going deaf) and munch on some basic appetisers.
