This is a cute touristy spot with an excellent outdoor seating area. We went there for breakfast and found the portions generous and reasonably priced. My husband had the skillet with poached eggs and I had cheese bread and an egg (both sides). On the plus side, they gave each of us an extra egg, but that was likely because they were overdone. One of his poached eggs was cooked hard and my over medium had cooked through broken yolks with several noticeable pieces of shell mixed in. Our waitress was friendly and brought us drinks and paper menus which they toss after each guest (which was a great sanitation perk). We weren't too hungry so we ordered wings to share. It took 30 minutes for the 10 piece wings which seemed a pretty long time to wait considering they weren't busy yet. We finished our drinks before the wings came and once they did come, we were so excited to finally eat, we forgot to ask for more to drink and the waitress didn't bother refilling herself. Very cool looking place in Ybor. The place is huge with a big bar and nicely decorated in a maritime theme. The menu was pretty limited as they say "building back after Covid". About 15 beers on tap. This was my first time eating here and I can't wait to go back! We came here for brunch and wow. Every week they change the menu so when I went it was Hungary themed. The best part, it's a buffet! They had such a wide variety of food from eggs, waffles, potatoes, bacon, sausages so many sausages. On this particular day, it was my first(of many) stops and my last stop. During my first stop, I had a couple of drinks. The bartender was very helpful. We found Gaspars Grotto online while searching for Cuban sandwiches for lunch near Tampa. Let's start with the postitves. Fun pirate themed restaurant in Ybor City, an older, hip part of Tampa. Roosters & chickens strolled along the streets and cleaned up the crumbs after our meal. Our waitress Cat (Kat?) was nice, attentive and good at her job. Took awhile for the food to arrive, but ok... it's Sunday, the sun is out, and we're sitting under a giant umbrella in the fresh air. Huge, well seasoned sandwiches and batter dipped fries. Now the negatives. The sandwich was pretty dry and all the condiments sat soaking in a little box full of rainwater. The beignets didn't arrive until we were ready to pay, and had clearly been fried from frozen; they were burnt on the outside, raw on the inside, and served in a brown paper sack unceremoniously dumped on the table. We had brunch here for a friends birthday. We arrived at about 11:50am. Their brunch offering is buffet of food, bottomless mimosas, a Bloody Mary bar, live music and a DJ at the other patio. I would say they had a good variety of food. It was our first time and in hindsight should have researched the place. If you have a reservation for the first seating they make you move to the other patio at 1pm to accommodate a second seating at 1:30pm. Sad to say but we would never have brunch here ever again. Never. Don't waste your money. We were okay with the fact that half the food was dry. What really tip the scale from 3 stars to a 1 star, is the service. Don't crack jokes about your guests too close to their table. Additionally the birthday celebrant complained to the manager but they gave zero f. It was her birthday and it was really upsetting to hear she too was unhappy. We barely saw our waitress and we didn't even receive water!!! It's Florida and it can get hot real quick especially when you're seated outdoors. My son was literally beet red. I would also like to add that we had to ask for champagne flutes twice. I have now been here twice. Once with a large party and once with a small party of 3. Both times the service was disappointing. The food is good but it's a matter of getting it all, it being correct, and it coming in a timely manner. I did the new Sunday brunch both times and the DJ is really fun. There's has been a full house both times but both times my server seemed overwhelmed which is why I didn't write the review after just once. 37 years in Florida and I've had deviled crabs and Cubans everywhere. Gas stations make better food than this. Deviled crab was just a fist sized lump of tasteless crab with no breading, just a thin layer of fried meal on the outside. The Cuban was also sad, it looked like they had used some cheap Cuban bread and pressed it to the point that it was more cracker than bread. While the pork seemed ok I think they used a honey baked ham for the ham? Just weird. I'm ok with non-traditional takes on classics but this is just a total fail. I ordered a cheese omelette it was a little burnt in over cooked and kind of bland but it's a good not much you can do with that except maybe add a little salt and pepper. Weekends are quite busy here on both sides of the building. One side usually has live music or karaoke and the other side has a dj. Pick which one best suits your mood. The bartenders are all a-OK. There is also a very comfortable and dark inside bar for when youre in that mood, too. Brunch is extremely popular here and they seem to feature some type of mimosa special. At least I saw a ton of empty champagne bottles late on a Sunday afternoon. In all these years, I've never yet tried the food but it looks pretty delicious. Best thing about this place is the outside dog friendly patio. There's a lot of tables for groups to sit. There are fans and shade, and there is a bar to drink, and a stage for bands and other performers. Food on the other hand here is no big deal. I use to think it was better actually. We ordered the tostones with shredded pork with cheese, and guava sour cream. The guava sour cream is what makes it the best, but I just didn't think this was anything special and stuff just seemed to be plopped on to the tostones. I guess maybe you can just consider this like bar food. They have other food. Cuban Sandwiches here are suppose to be really good. They have other Cuban type influence foods as well in appetizer, salad, sandwich, or entree options. We also ordered a half carafe of sangria. It gave us about 5 or 6 servings since the glasses were small. They were pretty tasty, but not like I would go out of my way for it. Gaspar's Grotto is the typical pirate theme bar. One of those that if you are in Tampa, you should check out. But I say go to hang out with friends, drink and have a fun time. Food, no biggie biggie. They do have a generous size doggie order that you can ask for. It use to be on the menu, but it's not now. Our last one they gave us for our doggie was rice, and pork. no seasoning. A pirate themed bar in the heart of 7th Street, Ybor City, it's also known for its great food. I stopped in hungry for lunch after trying to figure out the pay-to-park scheme (not getting a receipt for my space after paying and nervously wondering if I'd get nabbed without proof). Anyhoo, the bar was filled with day drinkers at the bar at 10:30 in the morning, several baring midriffs, tattoos and one with a large dog on a leash bothering customers. I sat at a table and enjoyed the museum quality pirate ambiance until my waitress Rachel in tattered tightfitting t-shirt and fishnet stockings came for my order. I waited almost an hour for my food, brought out by the cook who said the waitress was too social and forgot about me. My savory breakfast spinach and mushroom crepe was delicious, though heavy in onions which I pushed to the side. I'd ordered a $2 side of ham that came nicely grilled. Not a surprise, no drink refills. And no check pick-up, I ended up waving at a nice bartender who cleared my tab for me. I wanted to short them the tip for lousy service but was concerned it would short the two helpful people. Prices were great, bar had great menu and cool stuff to look at it, the potential for "fun" if you were on "chill time", but lack of service makes trying new places so much more appetizing and there's lots of options in Ybor. This is one of my favorite places to go on Sunday Funday! I've never tried the "Booze Cruise" for $35, but I've certainly enjoyed some other brunch options. Mimosas are only $2 and Bloody Marys are $3 (and they are strong!). If you want to eat unlimited food, they have a $15 buffet option which includes crab legs and desserts too. Brunch ends later than other places so you get more bang for your buck here! There are plenty of good craft beers on draft and a full liquor bar. The staff has always been friendly and attentive on my visits. Gaspar's has indoor and outdoor seating, which plenty of fans and shade for the hot sunshine. They have live music and DJs. This is a nice place for couples, families, gatherings, and so on. A fun pirate bar/restaurant located in the heart of Ybor City. Parking can be rough due to the location and there is not a designated parking lot for this place. Your best bet would be the parking garages or side street 2 hour spots. read more

This place is a wild one in my opinion the wings are pretty good mustang ranch was my favorite but there are a lot of downfalls to this place chickens poop all on the tables (they try to clean it their best) employees might be off of something half the time (given it's in ybor) a very acquired taste to be around. Little gems of sweet dough tossed about in white powdered sugar- warm- just tear the bag open. Dip in the the cappuccino and any land lover will jump on board. The best. Shrimp and crab quesadilla- hot, melty cheese, but still both flavors were there. Easter Spanish chorizo brunch item- perfect blends of flavors. I've been here a few times before and enjoyed the opportunity to sit outside and eat w a now ex friend. She told about the goat cheese and marinara dip which we had to try. Amazing! I love goat cheese and this was just perfection! Last night the group I was with came here after being at the Improv. I stuck with my norm gin and tonic, but was offered a glass of the sangria from one of the girls in the group. She ordered up a pitcher of red sangria, I have never had it before so poured me a glass and we all found a table outside to sit and and chill. There was live music and I wasn't sure if it were all different bands or karaoke? But it was great to sit, sip and enjoy people in pirate garb and live music. We got chicken and waffles one order came with a lovely piece of hair we also got "sweet & spicy ginger wings" which were literally Frank's Red Hot Sauce... def not sweet & spicy ginger wings. They do have $3 mimosas which is dope but they come in a little ass plastic cup so there's the price point for ya. You could def tell the server was used to food complaints as she didn't even think twice on removing the food and taking it off the bill. So I'd assume it's pretty common for people to be disappointed. Overall I would just avoid this place like the plaque if you plan on eating. They do have a cute patio with live music so I'll give them that. We planned on going to 7th & Grove but saw a long wait outside.. we should have waited in the line.
