ABSOLUTELY BS. I keep trying to give this place a chance and every time they eff it up. Asked my bro to pick up food for me since he was in the area. Ordered a lamb wrap $8, extra meat which says $3. I wanted the combo wrap that comes with fries and that is $11 and a baba ghanouj $5. Not only was half my order missing- i got no fries nor baba ghanouj, they had the audacity to charge me $17. Are you freaking kidding me???? I called them and they not only refused to refund me but they said the extra meat was $6. If they said the meat was that expensive from the get go...why would I get it? I am essentially paying for 2 wraps which I did not get....on top of that..for whatever reason...the tax amount seems too high too for whatever they told me. I have no receipt since my bro didn't get one...regardless they were extremely unhelpful and sketchy. Quality and quantity has decreased and management is absolutely poor. This was seriously my last straw. First time was a potential credit card copying and withdrawing money, 2nd time was a skewer stick, and now this??? Not the first time money was a problem here. Friendly staff. I had gotten the combination plate which had sliced (steak/lamb/chicken) meat, rice, yogurt, cucumber salad & pita bread. The meat & rice are super flavorful. If you spend over $15 you get free hummus & one piece of pita bread. The hummus is okay, you can definitely taste the chickpea. Honey got the chicken kabob, his chicken was flavorful as well. Only "complaint" I have is that the pita bread was cold, if it was toasted or warmed up that would've been a 5 stars on my list. Absolutely delicious!! I came in around 2pm in the afternoon to order a combo plate. I asked for it to be spicy and ordered for extra topping of mushrooms. Honestly mouthwatering good. The chicken and gyro meat are tender and juicy and the rice was cooked to perfection. The white sauce was one of my favs and everything hit the spot. Especially with a head cold in this rainy weather, the full and satisfying meal made me feel ten times better. On a side note, the people who work there are super chill and helpful. A hole-in-the-wall Mediterranean joint . Love their delicious gyros. I have a mind to try their kebabs but always end up ordering their gyros. The lamb or steak gyro is my favorite. They are open really late till midnight. Plenty of parking especially if you park on Capitol Ave. It is small so not an ideal place to sit and eat but great for takeout. read more

3.5 stars. Was a bit disappointed when seeing that it is actually a hole in the wall place, and how small that iconic Turkish donor thingy is. However, the kebab and gyro are really good! Portions are big and price is cheap. Now I know how the lamb on the donor rotisserie tastes. Definitely a place to grab some quick eats when in the vicinity. Gaters is definitely not a dine-in restaurant, but regardless of where you eat their food, we're certain you'll be as pleased as we were. Menus are printed on pamphlets that are displayed at the cramped cash register, but they are neat and very easy to read with good descriptions of each dish underneath. The hubby ordered the combination plate that consisted of steak and chicken schwarma on a bed of saffron basmati rice served with pita bread, cucumber salad, and tahini sauce. I chose the garlic chicken plate with the same sides as the hubby's plate. While the cashier said I would receive a lentil soup upon Yelp check-in, he seemed to have forgotten when he brought our order out, so that was already a disappointment. We also noticed that Gaters didn't make its own pita bread (boo...), but their falafels are made fresh to order. Plating of each of our entrees was neatly packed in to-go boxes with allotted slots. The hubby and I were quite pleased with both of our proteins that were extremely flavorful and tender. The hubby's steak and chicken weren't tough and had a tasty "grilled" aftertaste while my chicken was spicy and fragrant, albeit dry at times. The rice was heavily seasoned, but it didn't clash with the proteins. The tahini sauce was on the runny side while the salad was forgettable. Prices at Gaters is definitely cheap for the portion size as well az good flavors. The hubby and I practically finished everything with happily satiated appetites. If you're looking for a simple, take-out Mediterranean spot, Gaters is a pretty good place to check out. read more

Probably one of the best whole all restaurants in the bay area. This place is absolutely phenomenal when it is catered and it is definitely mine blowing if you actually come into the store in person. The customer service here is on point. They definitely make sure that you're fully satisfied and they're always checking to make sure that everything turned out fine. My friend Susan treated me out for a belated birthday celebration. It was sooooo good. I've been recommended this place in the past by a different friend to bring along a special someone to this place. Never got to go until now. But, it does not disappoint. How unsanitary is that?!? He took the meat from this container next to the grill and started cooking. Chicken Salad: 8oz of meat and barely any salad....The chicken flavor was pretty good, a bit more spicy than expected but I enjoyed it. What i didn't enjoy is the fact that the chicken was pretty dry. First couple of bites were okay, then it became toooo much to chew. But maybe that's normal? There was no dressing given to me....I asked for some yogurt sauce on the side...which made the salad better...I guess. All in all, I wouldn't come here again. It's nice to say I've tried it. As a vegetarian I've gotten used to less than flavorful veggie gyros but this one had a bunch of amazing savory bites. DO NOT GO HERE - SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR WELLBEING. I went here around lunchtime and encountered a man picking his nose while looking at his smartphone. Turned out that he was the chef working there and he ended up making my lamb gyro. GROSS. On their menu, their lamb gyro says $7.99, but it was not until I ordered their gyro that I saw he charged me $12.06. That didn't sound right, so I told him he overcharged me, and with a sneer, he replied, "Well you didn't say any size, so I charged you the regular size.", all the while pointing to a tiny font text next to the big 7.99 advertised price of their "small" lamb gyro. I felt I had just been ripped off. I came home expecting this $12.06 lamb gyro to be great, since it was the most I ever paid for a gyro. I unwrapped the foil and to my horror, discovered the absolute worst ingredients I ever came across. There were barely any lettuce, which were all brown and wilted, the tomato was SLIMY on one side and DRY on the other, as if it hadn't been used in a long time. The meat itself was extremely GREASY and salty. NO SAUCE. It was honestly wilted lettuce, slimy tomatoes, and oily salty meat. That's it. I ended up throwing out half of it. It was honestly inedible. I saw the bad reviews before I came here, but thought it couldn't be that bad. But now that I've been here myself, take my word for it, DO NOT GO HERE. The workers here are unhygienic and rude, the food is extremely overpriced, and the quality of food is absolutely terrible. Please, save your money for something else. After 11pm, it is incredibly difficult to find a restaurant serving a filling and delicious meal. While driving around with my boyfriend, I remembered Gaters' hours had been extended for Ramadan. The bright 'open' sign had guided our way into the parking lot and we were both very excited! Walking into Gaters, we weren't sure if there were any exclusions due to the hour we had entered, but all meat dishes were available and ready to be prepared and served! However, my usual falafel was excluded from the evening's line up- in substitution, I got a veggie wrap which mimicked and delivered the goodness of a falafel wrap (minus the chick pea). I definitely appreciated the substitution, and the fact my boyfriend was able to get his lamb gyro. :) They had also asked how spicy he had wanted it which he mentioned to me was a positive first- having control of spice is always a plus in our book! In less than 10 minutes, we were served and ready to go. I always love how welcoming and enthusiastic the staff here is, they're always smiling and greeting us warmly. The customer service is nothing short of perfect here, and the food is on the same level nonetheless. One of the precious gems in the Fremont area! This is a great hole in the wall type of place. I use to work in the area a few years ago and would often get food here. I live in Oakland, but whenever in the area, I always stop in and get some kind of wrap. All of them are excellent, but my favs are the garlic chicken, the lamb and the Kefta. I have also tried their gyros, salads, hummus and baklava. Everything is delicious. Maha, the owner is extremely sweet and friendly. Great customer service!!! read more
