Any place that serves a chicken cheesesteak deserves a place in my personal heaven. They use the same meat as they do for gyros so it was kind of tandoori-style and super flavorful. Have also had their vegetarian plate, which is like a little Mediterranean appetizer sampler consisting of falafel, a scoop of hummus, a scoop of baba ganoush, salad, dolmas, tahini sauce, and some pita bread. Super great! Only real criticism is that when we were there they'd run out of forks, and their sandwiches are really hard to eat without spilling everything everywhere so forks are kinda necessary. Made do with spoons and toothpicks. This is a better place for takeout since it's so small. read more

First off i have to mention that I am on the 3rd day of a 4 day fast, so I came just to check it out for the future. About 10 seconds after I walked in with my friends, Tarik threw 2 wraps on the flat top for an order and it immediately took me back to Germany at the turkish places. The smell was overwhelmingly delicious and I couldnt help but just stand there and stare at the chicken and lamb on their spits. Tarik saw how I was gawking and took it upon himself to offer me a small plate of both the chicken and the lamb. Despite my fast I couldn't turn down such a generous offer so I took a few bites and shared with my friends. It was easily the best chicken I have had in a long time and it will be the first place I go after my fast. Went and got the regular sized combo gyro, it was amazing! Fresh, hot and the portion was wayyyy more than I needed or expected. Definitely didn't walk out hungry. We also got the seasoned fried which are nice because you shake on some seasoning by yourself and can season it up just the right amount! This place is pretty good! Usually for kebabs in this area my boyfriend and I will go to De Afghan (yes I know they are two different styles) but I was craving a little more variety on my plate so we decided to give the place a try. I got the combination plate while my boyfriend got the lamb. The food was good but not worth the money in our opinion. The meat serving was soooooo small! The lady at the counter did ask if we wanted more meat for extra $3 but I don't think you should have to pay that much for a decent serving. The meat was flavorful and pretty tender however still doesn't beat the lamb elsewhere. Their chicken kebab was probably one of the best I've had though. I want to give this place 4 stars but I can't after today. I used to come here as a kid all the time. I love middle eastern/mediterranean food since I grew up around it. I ordered a chicken gyro with no tomatoes and a chicken wrap with two orders of fries. (I should of unlocked the free hummus offer where you get some if you spend $15+. I paid $18) The cashier didn't communicate my entire order with the chef causing an error in my order. My gyro came with tomatoes and our fries were forgotten. I told the chef we didn't get our fries and so he gave me one order of fries... I came back in to tell him that I ordered two orders and he said he put them together when clearly you can tell it was just one order of fries and he didn't want to fry some more which was not fine but whatever it's Monday... So the food was pretty good. The place is pretty small. You really don't have any area to sit at if you have a big ass family like mine. We are literally 7+ people. But the food was good which I guess is the most important part bruh. However, they need to update their pricing on YELP! Because it's wrong AF! This is probably the tastiest mediterranean food around, with one annoying flaw - keep reading. Their flaw is that they seem to basically ignore their own menu - either the one online, or the one on the wall, or their printed menu. No matter what the menu says, don't believe it. They will make you tasty food, but it may or may not be what the menu says. The menu might say a particular wrap comes with tzaziki sauce. Don't believe it! One day it will, one day it will come with Tahini sauce. It might say it comes with certain veggies, but they'll give you whatever they have handy. The menu might say a side of rice costs $3.00. Again, one day it will, one day it will be $2.00, maybe $3.50 the next day. There's no rhyme or reason to it. This annoyed me so much that I tried all of the other mediterranean restaurants in town. However, one thing I found is that almost all of them are *really slow* - it made me appreciate how fast Gater's is. Also, other places were just as bad about not really delivering exactly what the menu said, and they just plain didn't taste as good. So I'm back to Gater's. If I really want it a particular way, I have to ask for it very specifically. But now I just give up and trust that whoever's cooking today makes it how they think it should be, and it comes out really tasty, so I should just stop complaining. It'd be a lot easier if they just got rid of their menu and just put out a sign saying "tastiest gyros in town, come inside to barter". read more

I saw the reviews, and decided to check it out. the food is horrible. the pictures showed the meat was juicy and tender, no they are not. I saw the guy pulled some pre-cooked meat out of a tray and reheated it. Not surprisingly, it tastes like sawdust kind of dry. And salt was excessive, I had to drink lots of water afterwards. And the price was high. I spent $11.00 for a combo platter that has less food and lower quality than Chipotle's bowl. the environment is just bad, very dirty tables and floor. This review only reflects the unbelievably rude customer service that I've ever experienced from 1 particular employee here. I've ordered from here a handful of times and the employees here are fairly nice - your average customer service experience that you'd find from an establishment like this. I eat out nearly everyday with my girlfriend and I have a really high tolerance for people. I usually almost never write yelp reviews... I don't think I ever have. However, the customer service experience I had the other day with this guy enticed me to write this. All that being said, the interaction I had with him was the simple: walk in, order, and go. His attitude was unprovoked... I didn't have any problems with the order. I didn't ask him a million questions about the menu. I noticed the rude tone right as he started talking, which really threw me off at first. Then, as our interaction continued, it seemed as if he was getting more and more annoyed for no reason. The manner this cashier talked to me was as if I was a complete idiot and everything he said to me was with heavy attitude and rudeness. Seriously wtf bro??? You got a stick up your ass or something? What's your problem? I get it that we all have bad days. If that's the case, don't take it out on your customers, especially if I'm simply just coming in and ordering like normal. You're the cashier on duty to this little restaurant. You're the person to interact with customers walking in. That means, that for your shift, you're the face of the establishment. You're expected to uphold some standards. I'm not looking for the chick-fil-a style "let me kiss your feet" type of customer service. If you're having a shitty day, just provide the bare minimum, no BS, type of proper service. Done deal. I'm fine with that. Don't talk to your customers in a really strong condescending type of manner like they're idiots. I was literally on my last straw with him. I would've confronted him about his attitude problem if our interaction somehow continued. I'll admit, I'll be returning here from time to time. The food is great. We went here because of 4 stars on yelp. We were disappointed in every way. The 2 guys at the counter were asking personal questions rather than paying attention to the order.They spoke very loudly while we were seated.We then saw the place was pretty dirty, so we changed our order to take out. They even missed packing 1 item and we had to point it out to them. We ordered a veggie plate and a wrap. The wrap was just layers n layers of bread and hardly any filling in it! It had very low quality lettuce in it and the tomatoes were pale pink and almost raw! The veggie plate was most ordinary tasting and the ingredients seemed of a low quality.We ended up wasting our food and went to a different place to eat. I wouldn't recommend this place, the food quality, taste and hygiene are pretty bad. As for the 4 stars they have on Yelp, I would really question their authenticity. read more

Great place for Mediterranean food. The pita/lavash are perfect - not too thick and perfectly cooked. I usually call my order in and ask for them to take out the tomatoes and onions. They're very friendly about it. They also don't replace the tomatoes and onions with extra lettuce like a lot of places I've been to. So the ratio of meat, lettuce and bread stays the same. I've tried the plates from them. They give plenty of rice and meats. The rice is also delicious. It's a small place with a few tables so I wouldn't suggest eating there unless it's weather is nice and the tables outside are open. read more

Seems like this place has been around forever and I'm just now getting around to trying it. Redeemed a groupon here which came out to about half off with purchase of $20. I didn't have any expectations so was pleasantly surprised! Everything was so good! Sis and I ordered a chicken wrap with fries, side order of falafels and a lamb/chicken combo plate to share. The portion sizes were pretty big and the the meat was well marinated and delicious! I heard that they do make anything spicy so will have to try that next time. It was quite packed at lunch time (maybe 5 people in front of us) but the line moved pretty quick and the food came out just as quick. Also, the woman taking orders up front was super friendly. We ordered the beef/lamb wrap and the Veggie sampler, which came with 2 falafels, 2 types of hummus, and 2 dolmas. Everything was really good but my dumb ass didn't know the difference between a wrap and a gyro, so I will definitely have to try the gyro next time! Everything was fresh and flavorful - those were some of the best falafels I've ever had, even though nothing will really compare to the falafel carts I had out in NYC. I've eaten here a few times over the years, and I've gotten the falafel wrap, the chicken gyro, and the chicken plate. Sometimes I stop by for a side of falafel balls. The wraps are a hit or miss with me, I've had really good wraps where everything was nice and moist, and I've come on days where the falafel balls were dry and I had to ask for extra tahini to choke them down. *cough* Overall, they have a decent selection, and their meat is roasted all day so it's nice and tender. The last time I was here, I thought their meat was pretty bad and I saw them slicing from their roasts which were still raw in the middle and then cook them on the grill. The chicken plate I got came with little bite sized tibidts of meat drowned in chili powder. Yuck. Their falafels are usually pretty good, and they are pretty big. I like how they are wraps instead of in a pita because when I eat a pita, the pita always ends up breaking and all the contents inside falls out. Also I'm not big on bread and their wraps are thin, so you get more of the inside. I would go back if I was in the area and craving some falafel, but it's not anywhere near me and there is better falafel closer to where I live. I'd give this a 2.5. OMG, just looking at the pictures on this profile is SO making me crave Gaters. Gaters is one of the best places to eat in Fremont, hands down. I've had their combo plate, which is delicious. Both chicken and beef, very lean and well seasoned over delicious basmati rice. It comes with a yogurt sauce that's thinner than a regular tzatziki, but very, very good. I've also gotten the chicken gyro, which was delicious. My son has gotten the chicken wrap and nearly ate the whole thing (and he's only 5). The owner is very nice, as are any of the folks that work there that we've encountered. There aren't many tables inside, so they seem to do a lot of takeout business. The only problem with that is smelling the deliciousness in your car the whole way home and not being able to dig in. DEE-licious. read more

I use to love this place but lately they have new cooks and employees who have not been properly trained. Yesterday i went in for lunch and the lady who i ordered from messed up my order. I asked for a combo gyro with no onion and received a lamb gyro with onion. I took the gyro back to the cook and waited outside. He came himself and gave it to me; when i open it i was so groosed out to see a soggy wrap with cold meat in it and nasty cooked lettuce with no sauce at all. I dont know if he gave me the same wrap he did before just added other meat to it or if he gave me a left over wrap or maybe someone returned my original wrap and it had be sitting there. I was so disappointed but at that point i could not return it because i had to ho back to work. I will not be returning to this place ever again. I came here for lunch on a Friday around 1:30PM, and it was pretty empty. I ordered a chicken Mediterranean plate (the only difference between the chicken Mediterranean plate and the chicken plate is that the former has mushrooms, and I love mushrooms). It was delicious! There was a lot of food! There was a small salad, hummus, rice, pita bread, and meat. Lots and lots of meat. The hummus had a good consistency, although it could have been more flavorful. The salad was average, and it was too oily (how can salad be oily?!). The pita bread was pretty good, although I would have preferred it to be fluffier. Pita bread with hummus is awesome. The meat was really good too! The meat was flavorful and tender, and I asked for it to be spicy. It wasn't that spicy. The rice was good too; firm but chewy. The meat/rice was a bit oily too. The prices in the restaurant are also different than what it says online (actual prices are about $1 more than online prices). It's a bit pricey, but the amount of food is great! My meal was $10.71 including tax and tip. The cashier was super friendly though! She asked a lot of the same questions multiple times for my friend though (like whether he wanted a drink and/or dessert). She asked whether I wanted some eggplant spread, extra meat (which is $3 extra), or dessert, to all of which I answered no. Anyway, good meal. read more

I like going someplace and having the owner/staff recognize me. I Yelped his last place, and I'm Yelping his new place: he makes really good food, he's friendly, the prices are right, and they're always willing to modify their food for you. They aim to please! I was driving heading towards Jamba Juice and on a whim decided to go here instead. The cashier recommended a combination plate, and I am so glad I took his suggestion. DEELISH! I love this place! Me and my boyfriend always come here and the 2 guys always recognize us and are always excited to see us. We always get the chicken gyros...yummmm I could eat one every day if I could. You should check this place out if you haven't already. First off, let me get the good out of the way. The food is GREAT. I had the spicy chicken plate, and everything about it was fine after I heated it up a bit (more on that later). Chicken was cooked well and was juicy. The rice was soft and flavorful. The hummus and veggies were perfect. I also had the falafel which were delicious. The only thing that I felt wasn't worth were the fries for 2.25. Now for the bad. As of 3/18/2016, they list delivery as an option on both Yelp and on their website. My associates and ordered delivery for 12:30 PM, as we were having a fairly busy day in the office. Around 12:45 PM, I called them to check on the status of my order, and was told that they don't deliver. The invoice itself says that the order was for delivery, so even if this wasn't the case, why didn't they just call me to let me know? To make it worse, they didn't do anything to keep our food warm while we went to pick it up. By the time we got it, everything was soggy. The bag that my falafel were in was soaked through from the steam and had ripped. Finally, they didn't acknowledge their mess up at all. So here we are leaving a review. I'll try them again sometime to see if this was just a fluke, but I'll make sure to dine-in. read more

Don't be fooled by this tiny little restaurant, their gyros pack A Lot of flavor!! Its the only thing I go there for.. I order the spicy beef/lamb gyro, with everything! Sometimes I ask for an extra side of their Tzatziki sauce, its seriously the best gyro I've ever had. I never order the fries, the gyro alone fills me up, besides the fries just get in the way. If I'm extremely hungry and if its been a while since- ill order two gyros, which I've done about twice.. I've been to high end mediterranean food restaurants and little mom and pop spots, and I have to say this tops them all. Their Gyros are just slightly more expensive than others, like gyro express, which is just down the street but way better in taste and well worth it.. Unfortunate. Went here on the suggestion of my Wife and other yelp reviews. 1.) Guys were rude when I ordered. 2.) They did not honor their yelp check in offer. (First time ever i have encountered this) 3.) I ordered steak & lamb gyro plates. Meat was cold and not freshly sliced when i ordered. They literally pulled it from a cotainer and placed it on the grill, and still didn't cook it enough to warm it up. Meat was also chopped so much it resembled almost a ground beef.. Out of 4 full plates ordered ($40) only contined maybe 10 slices of meat?. Hard to really tell if the food was well seasoned with it not being warm or fresh. Perhaps I got them on a bad day. Dunno.
