All I can say is that your food is delicious, savory, mouthwatering, and I really wanted to go back for "seconds" but thought that if I did, it would be selfish and inconsiderate to my coworkers who might not have gotten the chance to eat later in the day! Came in here a few days ago after trying to think of a good healthy fast dinner I could pick up. Greek food, hey why not. Remembered passing by this place a lot and smelling the delicious aroma of gyros. So I came in and orderd a steak gyro and a chicken kabob platter for take out. (And a baklava, how can I forget about baklava when eating greek?) The place is small and not much space to dine in at, but plenty of space to dine outside. The place is casual, and the staff who was working the kitchen was very friendly and immediately asked me what I was going to order in a really cheery tone. Had a funny convesation about the correct pronouciation of gyros, and got me order down. I had a few questions about the kind of platters, and everyone in the store chipped in on helping me out. :) They were so busy having a good time in the store that they gave me my order without even asking if I had paid already, which I hadn't! I told them of course like a good samaritan :p, and after paying, I realized that they forgot my baklava. They packed me one after I mentioned it free of charge. The food was alright. Ive honestly had better greek food & gryos before, but it was decent. I was a little sad about my greek salad in my platter because it had tons of green bell peppers in it and a hate them :p, and I was really craving good greek salad. Hands down the best Gyro I've ever had! I ordered the steak Gyro combo which comes with fries. The meat was so tender and juicy. The bread was so soft. You definitely have to hit this place up. Another bonus is that this place sells Orangina. Any place that sells Orangina usually has top quality food. Actually, anything with "gina" in it is good. ;) The fries kinda tasted like McDonalds fries but not as soft. I would definitely come back again to try the garlic chicken gyro. read more

Good cheap food ($9.84) but service has been really ass recently. I usually order take out since the store is pretty small. Last week, they got my order wrong, so I was stuck with a combo plate instead of a chicken plate. This isn't too bad, just ticked I didn't get hummus. What really pissed me off was that today, they gave me an old order instead of making a fresh one. When I called them they said 2 minutes, which felt sketchy since they usually say it'll take 5 - 10 minutes. Fears were confirmed when the paper box the food comes in and the napkins were soaked because of condensation and the food was cold (even though I picked it up less than 5 minutes after I called in). Shame that the newer workers there seem to not care about customer service. read more

Been here twice in the last week & both times were no disappointment. First time I ordered the cheeseburger & it tasted so creamy and delicious, don't know what they did with the cheese but it was delicious! Next I tried the lamb gyro and although it was a bit on the spicy side it was still really delicious, had adequate veggies and white sauce. The fries were cooked well & had a crunch to it. Ambiance isn't much to talk about - inside is super tiny with very limited seating but they get the job done. Outdoor seating is available when the weather gets better. read more

I went to GATERS FOR the first time in my life and my taste buds sang! I went there with a few friends of mine because of the friends that was with me Friday night highly recommended it. My friend did not dIsappoint. My friends and I shared a couple of their dishes. I ordered the Kafta Kabob, it was packed with flavor (a must try!). My friend had the combination plate with lamb and unbelievably flavor able, juicy chicken. Omg the yogurt Salad was out of this world! Yum! Just thinking about it makes me drool. I tried my friends Gyro and let me tell you BY FAR THEY HAVE THE BEST GYROS in the bay!! And I have tried practically all GYROS in the bay: from San Jose, to San Francisco, to Salsalito, to Monterey etc. It is my opinion is that GATERS has THE BEST GYROS IN THE BAY!!! Another great hole in the wall in Fremont. The food is delicious and the prices are so reasonable. The first time we were here we did take-out. The second time we went we actually ate there. Very few tables and chairs but there was outside seating as well. I enjoyed their Chicken Gyro and my husband loves their Lamb Gyro. Just writing this review makes me want more. Hidden gem! Love this place! This is a small place, saw the kabob on the left hand side right after you stepped in, had a very good impression already. I have been ordering from Gaters for last one year. Initially the service and food was great. This has been deteriorating for past few months. Recently they changed the menu. They have something called small, regular and large size. It is a chaos if you call to order. They make it very confusing. You have to repeat the order zillion times and they still dont get the order right. Small sized portion is priced same as other Mediterranean restaurants in the area. But the portion is really small for a hole in the wall restaurant. They do not follow instructions. eg.If you ask them to keep hummus they never keep. Sometimes they forget to keep the bread in the plate. For a take out place they cannot be charging price of a regular sized restaurants. read more

My husband and I have come here a lot, and after taking my brother here over a year ago he drives from San Jose to Fremont, usually around 5pm, just to get a gyro. We usually order a a falafel wrap, regular gyro, and spicy gyro and are always happy. All of our dishes are moist and flavorful. The ingredients meld together--I've never had a bite of huge raw onion or all bread and no falafel. And the french fries... I know that they aren't made from fresh potatoes, but I don't care--they are tasty. They're crisp and not greasy. I once ordered a chicken philly cheesesteak there just because I *really* had a hankering for it. It wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't bad. Part of me thinks that I shouldn't order a philly cheesesteak from a Mediterranean place but the other part of me thinks that if they can't knock it out of the park then it shouldn't be on the menu. My brother ordered the burger once and said he liked it. As for service, the guys who work there are super friendly, as everyone has said. We had moved and were gone for over 5 months when we came back today and the owner asked us how we were doing and why he hadn't seen us in so long. And they're always super nice to my son, which is always a bonus to a mother (and father). We don't have the Mediterranean food experience of some people on here, but we've had gyros and falafels from France to Madison (and we've had good and bad from there and in-between) and I'd like to think we have SOME standards for our Mediterranean food. read more

so my bf and i were on our way to baskin robins... and we came across this little restaurant. I LOVE mediterranean food, so we decided to give it a try. the place was empty, a bit small and dim. clearly, the atmosphere wasn't to my liking, but i don't completely judge a restaurant by how it looks, it's ALL about the taste :) i ordered the mediterranean chicken and my bf ordered the spicy grilled steak which came with baklava and a drink (about $14 altogether). It was pretty damn good... actually, it was probably ONE of the best i've had so far. their baklava was also incredible. it was not too sweet nor sticky and soggy. it was juuuuuust right. all in all, the food was pretty good for the price. the service was mediocre - nothing special, but the overall atmosphere of the place definitely needs some work (especially their sticky and wobbly tables). i'd most likely visit this place again... but i'd probably take it to go next time... =/ read more

I've worked in here for over 2 years so I've eagerly awaited the day something decent would show up, and this place truly goes above & beyond my expectations for this (or any) food court. The gyro meat is cut right in front of you & all 3 options are properly tender, juicy and delucious. The guy doing the cooking already remembers my "no veggie" order on my second time there; after having Burger King get my order wrong countless times, this is a refreshing change of pace. Went back for the Combo Plate of beef and chicken. They grill the meat right there for you and will ask you if you like it spicy. Comes with a good amount of meat, yet, I don't like the to chop up the meat and pour it over mediocre rice. The quality of the rice was meh. The side salad of chopped cucumbers and tomatoes was good as was the side of yogurt. The pita bread, just one but cut in four pieces was of good quality. Overall, kinda expensive $8.99 for this kind of quality. You are advised to get a beef or chicken wrap. At $5.99, it's good quality and filling. read more

Been here a few times since the new management took over (used to be Gaters Meditterranean Grill), and have always been satisfied with both the food and excellent service. I usually get the Gyro Plate (spicy). The meat sits on a bed of rice and comes with a side salad, yogurt sauce, and pita bread. My husband gets the chicken kabab platter which comes with the same stuff except hummus instead of yogurt. Fremont/Newark has a bunch of "gyro" express kinda joints, but none can compare to the quality food and service this place offers. read more
