I was torn between 3 and 4 stars... we were greeted and seated quickly. Presented food menus and asked for our drink order at that time. As it was our first time in, we asked about beer on tap (seeing they brew their own was one of the main reasons we stopped in) & the server got us a beer list then waited for our selection, which was the stout. Water was brought without request (awesome) & didn't have the funny taste that some tap water with ice has. Hubs ordered the rueben (good) and pub fries. I ordered the Buffalo chicken blue dip (?) & was given spinach dip (good) with chips (they had a kind of fishy taste). I didn't complain or even point it out, as I am a big fan of spinach dip. The check was brought out without offering dessert, which was okay, as we were both quite full. I will note that several of the desserts were tempting in appearance and prices. I read a few reviews noting a huge, varied menu that was to die for. Do not be fooled, it is pub food - great for eating while or after drinking. I'd put it in the 2-3 star range for dining - 2 sober and 3 drunk. The beer, however, is an easy 4 stars. I averaged the 2 & 4 for a 3, but I am willing to say 3.5 rounded down. I don't think that 4 stars would be a fair representation of the overall dining experience. We will likely stop in tomorrow for drinks and eat before we go. read more

This place has really gone downhill over the past five years. I am originally from the Bangor area and used to frequent Geaghan's when I was a Maine resident. I've had many hangover recovery breakfasts as well as delish burgers/wings in the past. When my husband and I made the trip "home" to visit this summer, we planned a family/friends get together at Geaghan's thinking it would be a casual (reasonably priced) place appropriate for both Grandma and our twenty something year old friends. I was yearning for those amazing boneless wings - the kind of wings dreams are made of, but unfortunately Geaghan's didn't pull through. The wings had really deteriorated in quality. It was like the fryer wasn't working properly and they didn't brown. Soggy almost? I got a lobster salad because I had been gorging myself on fried food for the last few days. The lobster salad itself was very good, but the "bed of lettuce" was more like a "bed of browning iceberg lettuce ribs" and the accompanying vegies were clearly bought from a food wholesaler that ships produce a million miles because the tomatoes and cucumbers were dry and lackluster. I take my vegies pretty seriously people. Why not try to buy something somewhat decent (and local). It was August in Maine for crying out loud. The Irish nachos, however were amazing. Specifically the house made pub cheese on the nachos was to die for. I loved the local selection of beers. This was a great addition to the restaurant. read more

Can't go wrong with a pound of special reserve wings. My one complaint is that they're a bit stingy on the celery when you order wings for takeout. Overall, a great family-owned business with quality pub fare. The dinner rolls are a must try too! read more

The beer is good, at least I can say that, even though they had run out of "Bangor Brown", which I wanted to try. The Oatmeal Stout was good, as were other beers we tried. The ambience? Loud. So loud I could not understand what the people on the other side of my booth were saying. As for the food, it was entirely mediocre and tasteless. I had the Crowley's Black Irish Steak Melt, which promised to be tasty with ingredients of blue cheese, bacon and onion along with the shaved steak. But it was a greasy, sodden mess with no flavor at all. The fries accompanying it were also devoid of flavor. They don't salt the fries, which is fine, but they tasted rather rancid. My wife had the pastrami melt, which was similarly tasteless. Service was fine, but it's not a place I will return to if I want food. For beer alone, it's probably the best in town. read more

This place is amazing. Upon entering, it's as if not only you're in Dublin, but everyone is your long lost friend. People start with a story and as the night progresses so does the embellishment. For me, the food was just ok. The pickle chips and fried mushrooms need some sort of seasoning in the batter, they were pretty plain. The lobster roll was pretty good but the fries and coleslaw that come with it are pretty sub par. The beer on the other hand was great! read more

Yyyyoooooooooo this restaurant has the absolutely BEST WINGS!!!...... PERIOD!..... END OF STORY! If you like sweet and spicy...ask for their Reserve wings....its not on the menu....you will thank me later! Burger was okay but the bread was a little stale. The boneless wings were great- got it with the reserve sauce and it was as good as advertised-best part about their boneless wings is the very light dusting of breading they use vs other places that use too much breading. When my wife and I wanted to have lunch somewhere and couldn't decide we were driving by the casino. She told me that she had eaten there with her father, so a newly wed couple sat down to eat... Yummy! Went with a bunch of coworkers the other night and had a great time! The food was very good, and our waitress was right on it! I had the buffalo chicken quesadilla and it was very good. WOOOOooooooWWWWW!!!...They brew their own delicious beer and the atmosphere is buzzing when you walk into the pub area! Great place for a bite too with their famous chicken tenders!! This place has character and staff are spot on...they love working there and it shows. Good, get the reserve wings, spicy yet not. Diner like service albeit with great beer choices. Steer clear of specials like soup of the day and go towards best bets, burgers, pulled pork and wings. Go for the beer, stay for the wings. Keep in mind, I'm a tough critic, in the Bangor world this would be a 4 star place. read more

Found this by Yelp during my son's UMaine orientation, and was not disappointed. Loved the boneless wings - got the "ouch" sauce and it was good an hot (I like it hotter, though). Fried haddock sandwich was *excellent*. Brownie dessert was good (not great - prob not worth the calories). BUT, and this was a big one for me - Guinness on draft.... oh so very yummy. On my next visit to the area, I may stay on the adjoining hotel visit both for the Guinness (no drinking and driving) and also for the breakfasts which sound terrific. Bad service, fatty wings, fast food style burgers... Not what I expected for an Irish pub, very subpar

Just got into town and found this Irish pub nearby the casino. This place was recommended to me by my Uber driver and he said they had great wings. That being said, I had an order of wings that was pretty tasty BUT not the best I've had. Don't get me wrong, they were good and service was also pretty good too. I'm stopping short of a five star because they didn't WOW me and perhaps it would have been different at other times of the day but overall this is a nice little pub/restaurant and I overhead some locals raving over the place. read more

So freaking disappointing as I planned on a McLaughlin Seafood meal tonight. Being out of town and wanting some lobster or other fresh seafood, their hours were incorrect and now I'm here. And the Yelp reviews for Geagahn's seems to be skewed wrong too. For starters, this places location and presentation is scarily similar to every and any hotel restaurant I've made the mistake of eating at. Unfortunately, this ones at a motel, with no sign, but lots of people are here and coming in and out. So I enter. That's when I see that it looks like a TGIF Irish pub. Well, without the traditional pub character and more the franchise type. Then I get the menu. Ugh. Laminated insert bound type indicative of all franchises. And the choice is same knockoff of any franchise. So is it or isn't it? Too late no it doesn't matter. I order a craft home porter which is very good and I guess what carries it here. My burger was tasty, grilled to perfection but the American cheese slice was Kraft. And I know Kraft Individual Slices when I see it based on my childhood intake of the crappy fake cheese my mother bought. The sweet potatoes fries seemed too close to frozen type. Truly disappointing and avian mainly because of the Yelp solid 4-star rating of over 70 reviews. What are you people thinking here???? Ps. Ken the bartender was a shining star but it just ain't gonna raise my 2 review. read more

Great beer and great food. I love the bar here and often meet friends when we want to get together for a few pints. The booths are large and comfortable in the bar/lounge, the servers are attentive, the people are nice, the atmosphere is great. Really, they just keep getting better. I've been coming to Geaghan's since 2002 and feel like every year that goes by, they just get better and better at everything they do. They've always been known for their pub cheese and the boneless wings (easily the best in Bangor), but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. And the beer... I'm thankful every day that the Geaghan family decided to get into brewing. And like everything else with this place, it just keeps getting better and better. read more

I really HATE to leave this review. We have been faithful customers here for as long as I can remember. But over the last year we have had really continuously disappointing experiences here. We keep trying again just hoping they are just having a bad day. We want to support this family run business but after the last six visits being really bad, we are done spending our time and money here. On the plus side it is always very clean and the wait staff are always friendly. Improved parking has been very helpful. Our issues: On EVERY visit our order has been messed up. Multiple forgotten and incorrect items every time. The food itself has been below average...which is so frustrating because a few years ago the same menu items were absolutely delicious. Burgers not cooked correctly, raw chicken, cold steak sitting in a puddle of water, cold dry hot wings and a Chieftain (buffalo chicken sandwich) with absolutely no hot sauce. I truly hope your experience will be better but with so many amazing eating establishments in Bangor and Brewer now, the quality should be improving over time. This being said...best beer in Bangor. Hands down. We will still spend our money at the tasting room across the bridge. read more
