Gelson is a nice neighborhood supermarket. I went in because I wanted to get an organic rotisserie chicken. Gelson's is one of the few supermarkets that offer an organic rotisserie chicken. They also offer an extensive selection of organic vegetables. They do have a meat, cheese, wine, bakery section, the usual. There is also a bar in the front so if you wanna come in and drink before you shop, this is definitely the place for you to go. Only one cashier working when I came in, but they were not too busy. The wine bar inside Gelson's is a gem, and I'm honestly so surprised how good it is given it's located inside a grocery store. The wine selection is solid, but the stand out is their burger and fries along with their awesome, friendly service! This burger is better than most gourmet burger places - perfectly cooked, juicy, and a generous portion. Don't even get me started out the hot, crispy, fries. So good!!! We also tried the sushi, and while it was fresh, it's no comparison to sushi restaurant sushi and I wouldn't try it again. Great casual place to just grab a meal and drinks while watching a sports game on TV! read more

This wine bar and location is such a gem! The wine selection is wonderful and the people are the reasons we keep coming back. The people that work there are exceptionally friendly and quick to help. The location is impeccably clean and has that just-waxed shine. But it's a high-end grocery store with high-end, high-quality products---a bit on the expensive side. I really love their in-house soups, with the turkey chili being my favorite. read more

I just had a very pleasant experience at the Gelson's grocery store in Irvine. I returned some plants that had completely dried out, and I was dreading it because I was so sure I was going to be given a hard time about it. But instead, the manager, a very tall White man, was very accommodating to help me with this process. I was very pleasantly surprised that he treated me with a lot of respect, kindness, and humility. This really was the ambiance I needed to make my day great. It's so comforting to go to this Gelson's store, where the food may be a little expensive, but it has outstanding quality, to match the excellent service there. Thanks so much read more

The service is great however I'm very disappointed that there is now a 10.00 corkage fee on wine purchased in the store and brought to the bar. Why? The store is closing in August you'd think they would want more customers. Not a very good decision! read more

I never expected such fantastic food & service in a grocery store.... but the Gelsons Wine Bar experience is in a category all its own. You can purchase food in the store to eat while enjoying a craft beer or nice wine. Or you can order off their great menu. We love the burgers and poke stack. I have been a Gelson's shopper since I was little and have always loved shopping there but that has really changed and not for the good. It seems that customer service is no longer a part of what sets Gelson's market apart as a high end place to shop. Gone are those who help bagging and minimal waiting. Lines are long and the checkers also have to bag which is a lot of extra work for them and really slows down the check out process. Gelson's if this is the route you are taking at least add the option of self check out. read more

I walked into Gelson's looking to purchase some water, and on my way out, I ended up stumbling upon the wine bar near the checkout. The space is a good size (it can fit about 20 plus people) and has a few large TV's to watch sports. I ordered a glass of Justin and a cheese plate. The cheese plate was on the smaller side, but it was enough for 2 people. Some things to note: -It is a wine bar, so the majority of the seating is high tops. -Dress is casual; it's a supermarket. -The menu has a variety of options (nachos, chicken, burgers, dessert). Overall, I really enjoyed my time. The environment was very clean and the staff were very attentive. I will definitely stop by during my next Gelson's visit. read more

Stopped here on a whim when I started getting hungry while shopping at Gelsons. Was pleasantly surprised with this spot! The wine bar had counter top as well as table/booth seating. The environment was clean and the waiter that helped us was very friendly and attentive. Since I don't drink and seeing as how this is a wine bar, I can't comment on the quality of the alcohol or drinking experience. I only came here to eat so that's what I will comment on. The food was good, but I wouldn't say it blew my mind. I ordered the Herb Grilled Chicken and Gourmet Cheese Plate. The cheese plates presentation was a lil bit underwhelming, but everything tasted fresh and tasty, so I guess that's what's most important in the end. The Herb Grilled Chicken was a bit bland, but it did taste fresh and unprocessed, so what it lacked in flavor, it likely made up for in being healthy. Overall, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to eat here, but if I were hungry while shopping at Gelson's again, I'd definitely consider coming back for a quick bite. read more

My husband and I have been coming here every few weeks and will continue to come because of Jill and the other bartenders. The food is good but we love Jill out of everything! This place is simply amazing. Local and friendly, I've lived across the street for a couple years and finally decided to come in. I should've come by much sooner! Jill, the bartender, is extremely friendly, helpful and professional - this place can get pretty busy during prime time and she makes sure everyone is happy. And the food is fantastic! Better than most restaurants. Wilma, the chef, is also extremely nice and an amazing cook. She checks with each guest to make sure they're satisfied, and I had probably the best tri tip sandwich I can remember. I highly recommend stopping by and checking this place out. Been coming here since they opened so well overdue on this review. Original staff of Stephen and Alejandro were amazing. Both had experience working in fine dining restaurants and it showed. Currently, Jill is awesome. Food is always great quality. Service is great and prices are fair. I'm still surprised they do not accept tips as grocers apparently pay a fair wage.. Beer choices are good and rotate frequently. Only wish they'd rotate wine offerings a bit more. A neighborhood gem. read more

OMG, where do I start? Who'd think that a wine bar inside Gelsons could be so much fun. We were meeting up with a friend to get caught up. From the moment we got there we were greeted by a fun energetic guy named Alejandro. He fixed us up with wine, an IPA sampler and some delicious appetizers. The Ahi and Salmon was fresh and full of flavor. Almost what ever you were craving, Alejandro could make it happen. Everything was fresh and made to order. Did I mention the fun hip music? I even noticed that as other customers came in, he kept chewing with his mouth full of falafel as he greeted them in. I've been in hospitality for almost a decade now and never in my years have I seen such repetitive terrible service within 30 minutes. It's actually impressive lol. Spend your money at another place that actually cares about your experience.

However, the actual restaurant, cozy pine is located in, was packed because of the World Cup being on TV. So I definitely was not going to complain The food Our food order did come out extremely FAST.
