My friend and I went here for dinner and we tried quite a few dishes. The wine we got was incredible (I wish I remembered name lol). But the biggest takeaway was their dish with venison. Their farro, sauce, and everything just perfectly balanced. This is truly an incredible sport for those with extremely incredible taste palates. Great happy hour at the bar until 7pm at the Tustin location. Enjoyed the lavender lemon drop martini which was delicious. The bartender dropped off the happy hour oysters with a glass of sparkling wine and some olive juice (to go on your oysters) which I thought was a nice touch. The ahi tuna poke tacos were very lightly seasoned and tasted fresh. The Kobe beef sliders were so juicy and had good flavor to it without being too much. Bartenders Noelle and Garrett were very attentive and great at making you feel welcomed at the bar. Gutted! Came by tonight and it's gone. Our hearts broke as it's one of our favorite places. I had been curious about The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar for many years. Being that I'm not a wine drinker unless it's sangria or mimosas and champagne, I just never made it a point for a visit. Well, I had an invitation to see some friends and co-workers again due to a retirement, so I happily accepted. I'm so glad I went. Not only to hang out with friends that I literally grew up with at work, but because the food was worth leaving the house for. Party reservations were from 6pm to 9pm on Monday. It was a nice room that fit about 20-22 people. My glass was never empty despite my drinking a ton of water. What I ordered; 1) Winery House Salad - Mixed greens with candied walnuts, blue cheese, grapes, tomatoes, apples, and red onion, in a light mustard vinaigrette. $16. This salad was delicious. I wish I had more of it. 2) King Salmon - $38. This was also very good. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. 3) crème brûlée - creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness 4) lavender haze martini - this was more lemony to me than anything, but good. It was beautiful to look at and I literally let it sit for a while just to stare and admire it. We came to have lunch in here and honestly I did expect better food, the food was ok, the chicken in our sandwich was very dry, and they took their time with the food, we thought everything will be better. Came here for OC Restaurant Week. The place has an upscale vibe and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have a dinner deal for 65$ that gets you a starter, entree, and dessert. We picked the Crispy Pork Belly to start, Hokkaido Scallop & Wild White Shrimp and Zinfandel Braised Beef Shortribs for entrees, and the Tahitian Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Mousse Cake for dessert. Crispy Pork Belly- The meat was beautifully seasoned, tender, and juicy, with a nice crisp edge. It was served over cannellini beans that were soft and meaty but also gave off a mild finish that balanced out the pork. Hokkaido Scallop & Wild White Shrimp- The scallop was seared to perfection and the shrimp was nice and tender. It was served over a creamy risotto with sun dried tomatoes that gave the dish a hint of brightness. Zinfandel Braised Beef Shortribs- The beef practically melted in the mouth and is bursting with flavor. It was served over couscous that had a wonderful texture and it paired well with the meat. I enjoyed the proscuitto wrapped asparagus. Tahitian Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée- The custard was mild with a lovely vanilla flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. The bruleed top was a little overdone in my opinion, but I just scraped the burnt bits off. Chocolate Mousse Cake- They seemed to have run out of the mousse cake cause we got a berry one instead. Dined here for an early dinner around 4:30 on a Saturday night. I was surprised that there were many other diners here eating before 5pm too. We sat on the patio, which was dog friendly and they brought out a water bowl for my dog. We had a reservation, but it probably wasn't required that early. I got the Caesar salad and added chicken. The only thing holding this place together is the incredible staff and the good wine. From the beginning, as I was walking up with my family, the valet saw us and immediately went to the door to open it. Even before that I had made a reservation that I was late to and they were able to easily accommodate a later time. Our server Cheryl was fantastic. She made great recommendations for wine and was incredibly personable. We had two other staff come to check on us and they were also very nice. The parker house rolls to start were delicious and we loved them. I would go back and just order those and the wine to hang out with the phenomenal staff. Sadly the main food was not great. I consider this a steak and seafood house and would expect that for the prices the food would be fresh and well prepared. My scallops were bitter and I am not sure if maybe the butter was rancid but it was not good. My husband's steak may have been cooked in the same pan or with the same butter because he also had the off-putting taste for his. Was not impressed. Been here before, quite a while ago, and I remember the food being good. This time, not so much. I ordered the scallops and thought they were rubbery. My girlfriend ordered the Cajun Flatiron Steak, medium rare and she said it came out a bit rare. The sides we ordered were fantastic with our favorite being the roasted wild mushrooms. Had a wonderful dinner here over the weekend. We didn't have reservations, but we were able to find a seat at the bar. The two bartenders were amazing; they were very attentive and knowledgeable. Big shoutout to Garret for making us feel welcomed. For our meal, we started off with the oysters that paired well with the sauces they offer. The jumbo shrimp also tasted great; I only wish it came with more. Mussels and clams is another appetizer we picked that tasted delicious with great sauce. And lastly for entrées we shared the filet and a side of mushrooms. We usually go for a a fatter steak such as the ribeye but the filet was a great choice did not disappoint. Booked a reservation for a late birthday celebration. I chose to go to this location because I saw there was a corkscrew pasta with chicken that I absolutely had to try. I did not know it was only part of their Lunch menu. Our server was so accommodating and I was able to have that same pasta for my entree which was better than expectations. Great vibe but food is a bit pricy. Our team had a dinner here and had a reservation on a weekday evening. Plenty of parking due to being in the district. Ambiance is fancy/intimate with lots of bar and table seating. The wine selection is vast and they have American style appetizers and mains. We shared the pork belly lollipop, Parker house rolls, and charcuterie board. I got the Chilean sea bass grilled with asparagus in the side. The appetizer came out quickly but the mains took a little long since we have a party of 8. The pork belly lollipop had great flavor, was on a bed of mashed potatoes, a little fatty but a classic appetizer. Parker house rolls were fluffy and buttery. Charcuterie board was solid but nothing special wish it had more bread. Chilean sea bass was cooked well but not the best I've had (small portion for $50 and my coworker who got the same thing had a bigger portion). The asparagus was grilled well and not overly salty. For dessert we got crème brulee, chocolate sundae, and donuts. The donuts were fluffy, warm and filled with Nutella, bit too sweet but can't say no to donuts. Tried the creme brûlée but not a fan, texture was gummy (also not a huge crème brûlée fan so probably biased by that). Overall service and ambiance is great but food is pricy. I have been here a number of times, once for dinner and a number of times for happy hour. Every time I've come it's been great. They have valet if you wish to do so, or it's a large center (with some difficult parking, but you will eventually find something) For the dinner, we had a number of dishes, all which were great. We did have a minor issue of an undercooked steak, but it was quickly corrected. The sommelier was fantastic and recommended some great wines. I highly recommend this restaurant. Initially wanted to stop by for a weekday lunch in Newport but noticed that location is dinner only so we went to the Tustin location right inside The District. Parking surrounding is valet only but there are so many parking spots outside the valet area that is shared with the rest of the plaza. No wait on a Wednesday afternoon as the host brought us to our table right away. Our server, Steve, came by shortly after with specials of the day and the alcoholic beverage menu. Berry Mojito ($14): It was mid-week during lunch but it was 5 o'clock somewhere :) I can't remember the name of the mojito exactly but according to the menu, there were several fruits infused within the drink. Unfortunately, I only tasted the cranberry (juice?) mixed in with the rum. It was okay but maybe sticking to a wine at The Winery makes more sense! Mahi Mahi ($40): This was one of the specials Steve had mentioned that sounded particularly delicious. Jasmine rice with chunks of pistachio, lightly grilled mahi mahi (perfectly cooked) with a plantain chip and fruit compote to top. Surrounding the rice was a white sauce that was creamy with a hint of seafood flavor - paired extremely well with the rice and fish. Our favorite dish of the day. Roast Beef Dip ($23): Slices of roast beef, caramelized onion, gruyere cheese, and watercress on a toasted baguette served with thin cut french fries. Normally comes with crumbled blue cheese as well but I asked for it on the side. At the end of our meal, Steve brought a complimentary chocolate mousse with fresh fruits on top. Everything she recommended was on point, and everything we ordered was excellent. These 3 stood out though: 16 oz Double R Ranch ribeye with their signature herb butter Heirloom tomato, watermelon & burrata salad - so refreshing and really, really goooood Black truffle mashed potatoes - for someone who is not really a mashed potato fan like me, this was such a delight. Everyone here is friendly, our server was especially attentive, giving suggestions and mentioning his own faves. I had lunch here today and I must say it was a delightful experience. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the carne asada tacos. They were absolutely fantastic - the meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. At $20, I think it makes going out for lunch affordable. The restaurant's decor was also a feast for the eyes. I had an incredible experience at the Tustin location with the service and the food! There were great vibes in the restaurant, the bartender Garrett was awesome, the manager Stephanie was the sweetest, and William was so incredibly welcoming.
