This is place has brunch and dinner options, is on a perfect spot, huge parking lot, with both indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of space. It has its own dimamic which if you are not familiar and you crave that extra stalking attention of a waiter attentive of every need you may have every 5 seconds, this place is not for you. First of all you sit yourself and then order through a qr code or go inside and they take your order at the bar. Service is very friendly and fast, they have a lot of beer and cocktails options even samplers.Patio area is cute and quaint. The food is fresh and amazing, it was our first time but we'll be back. They have a fine selection of traditional German beer styles: Marzen, Schwarzbier, Helles Lager, Dortmunder, Hefeweizen, Pils and the occasional interesting variation, currently a coffee Baltic Porter. Reuben fries and Sauerkraut Balls for the Happy Hour food selection. Wines, cocktails, and beers by the bottle from elsewhere, round out the drinks. Gemut is an old firehouse, so it has a bit of character to it. We went here on a Saturday night and we're able to sit right down. There is a Biergarten out back, indoor seating with 2 rows of tables, and patio seating available out front. The service was excellent. You can order by QR code in your phone or go up to the bar to order. I can't speak much to the food because I only got a salad and a pretzel. The salad was delicious. The pretzel comes in a pizza box, and you have to purchase the cheese separately ($4 for cheese). I got the beer cheese, and it had a bit to be desired.. it was somewhat gritty and tasted like it was a powdered cheese that they just added water to. The pretzel itself was perfect! The wine glass is huge and they are able to make most mixed drinks you'd like. I'd recommend stopping by and checking it out. Maybe just get a different cheese for your pretzel. read more

There isn't really much service you order at a counter and they bring it but if you need drinks or something else you have to go back to the bar. If you have jot checked gemut biergarten out yet I would say hurry and get there while the outdoor beer garden is open! It was a sweet set up with many tables and seatings, you could definitely enjoy it even in a big group. Inside was also pretty nice with old antique church like decor and in the winter I see myself being here or in October near Oktoberfest this might be a really cute place to have a couple of beers. What I really enjoy is there happy hour on the weekdays for 4 to 6 pm to have two dollar off their beers which are fantastic. They also have these fries for happy hour snacks which I would definitely say recommend 100%, they are fries covered with blue cheese and bacon and cheese sauce and are absolutely delicious and crispy at the same time in your mouth. We also always get the pretzel which is a little pricey however with the beer cheese and the spicy mustard and a German beer garden setting it seems like a must get. read more

I had two rounds of the Czech Pilsner and it was a solid beer, especially when served out of authentic German glasses. We tried the pretzel with spicy mustard and the paprika schnitzel. The pretzel was fresh and delicious and the schnitzel was likewise excellent. The paprika sauce was flavorful and spicy, with a rich and unique flavor. Highly recommend. We went to Gemut for dinner and trivia on a Wednesday night. The patio is fantastic and enjoyable, especially for large groups. This is at heart a traditional Biergarten and is as you would expect, a good place for beer and not much else. The food is mediocre, but bar bites with pretzels and the like are fine. Bottom line, I'd go here for an afternoon and a few rounds, but with all of the other rooftops, patios, and breweries with much better food in the area, I'd probably steer somewhere else instead. read more

I had heard great things about Gemut Biergarten from a friend that knows her beer! So on a beautiful Friday evening we stopped in. We were lucky to snag a table on the back patio. It was full of life and energy. Lots of people enjoying their company and their brews. Our hostess gave us the lowdown that we could go inside and place our order. We just give the bartender the table number and when the order is ready they bring it out to our table. I went inside and was instantly glad I did, because I had a chance to see all the stained glass windows in surrounding the taproom. They were gorgeous, definitely not what you see everyday at a local brewery. The weather was mild for mid summer in Ohio. We enjoyed our beers. We relaxed and exhaled, letting the week go. I really enjoyed the scene outback. So many happy people. We also tried the pretzel app. It hit the spot. It is not hard to make a good pretzel, but there are breweries in town that struggle with it, so we were thrilled this one was on point. We can not wait to find another night to relax on the back patio at Gemut before winter comes. It truly feels like our scene. read more

It's difficult to accurately explain this place. It feels weird parking because the lot is not super clear about where I'm going to be towed, if there is a time frame that doesn't apply, or... something. It's a big church entrance, and a nice little patio out front, and a *really* nice space out back (I heard they're enclosing it!) with a fire pit and heating lamps. It's nice. It's cozy. Grab a liter o' beer and curl up with someone you love. Now, it's still too popular for its own good! They were packed when I came in with my buddy. That's a good problem for them, irritating for us. So we started in the back under a heat lamp, and eventually landed a seat at the bar - and ordered the food (currywurst and the pretzel? DELICIOUS). Plain and simple, I like their food. I dig their beer - I'm not crazy about rauchbier - but their brew was solid, tasty, and served in a nice, heavy bier stein. The service - when we walked in and we were greeted by a gentleman that knew my buddy (I'm sorry, I don't remember his name!) and he gave us a sample of the rauchbier (in tiny beer steins) - what a great intro. Sitting at the bar, the staff was running everywhere, but on top of it - keeping beers delivered, food out, and chatting where they could without just "hanging around" making you feel like you were waiting, or that they didn't like being there. A pretty space - the owners did a great job. The patio is large and they have a supply of extra folding chairs if needed for people to gather around the tables. There were 5 of us, so we appreciated having an extra chair for our 4-top. There is also a bar on the patio. When you enter the side door, there is a sign directing you to the bartender for ordering. You order your food and drinks there. You can pay or start a tab, and they'll pour right then. If you order food, they hand you and number on a stick to put on your table, then they bring the food, served on small trays, to you. There are bussers walking around removing empties. Their goal was to keep the traditional biergarten style versus being serving customers once seated. This is fine, but I suspect when very busy, the line to the bartender gets very long and prohibits proper flow of service. Beware too of ordering food, then finding nowhere to sit. I've heard there will be heaters placed on the patio for use through cold weather. I did not order food myself, but did have a taste of the Alsatian Flatbread my mom ordered, and it was amazing. My husband had the Bratwurst and Kartoffelsalat (crispy potatoes), which he enjoyed. We also shared the Pretzel & Spent Grain Bread Board, which was a nice variety of snacks. I had Reisling in a big glass. There is a cute little area for young children. I did not visit the restroom. I liked it enough to return, and I do want to try the veganwurst from Pierogi Mountain. I abhor loud places because at the end of the night my voice hurts from projecting or having to yell to be heard. Happy hour specials are until 7pm. Friends got $10 bottles of red wine, various beers, a tiki drink featuring pineapple leaves, and some food. When we left, we still had a half bottle of wine and they kindly sealed it with painters tape so a friend could walk home with it. As others have mentioned, you place your order at the inside bar. Drinks are dispensed immediately. Food orders are provided a tall holder with a number. When the food is ready the wait staff look for the number and set it down for you. The outdoor bar has water glasses and water that is self serve. Our wait person was good about removing empty beer glasses unobtrusively. There were 8 of us who cycled in and out over the course of several hours. One friend brought her child who was entirely occupied in the children's area. At dusk it was truly magical. Between the sunset and the white lights I had to stop the conversation and remark how everyone looked good and this was the type of filter we all needed on our selfies. Crazy, right? The other patrons were nice. A group of 6 people sat down next to us and after a bit asked about the service situation. We answered and while most of them went inside to the bar, we had a lovely conversation with the remaining people. Close to the end of the evening a couple at the table closest to the door lit up cigarettes. I guess they were however many feet/yards it needs to be because no one asked them to put them out or move. Riding our bikes through Olde Towne east we passed a quaint little Restaurant, with what we thought was a quaint little patio out front. After our bike ride we decided that we would investigate further so we stopped and spoke to a few of the patrons outside. Nestled behind the main beer hall/dining room is a massive but quaint spot for drinking one of many beers that are brewed on site. Yes, you read it correctly- brewed on site. But back to the patio...it is BEAUTIFUL. It is perfect for meeting friends or dining with someone special. There are plenty of places to drink privately or with your large crew! The food was good. I had the burger my date had the Rueben. We also had the pretzel...YUM! I would have liked a less mealy/gritty mouth feel to the beer cheese and less bite to the mustard dipping sauces but it certainly didnt affect the tip. While our tastes are strictly domestic lagers, we didnt mind three of the four beers chosen by Rachel for our flight. At the end of our meal Rachel asked how we like the beers we told her that three of the four weren't bad but but we prefer the more traditional domestic beers. Rachel then told us that she had one more beer for us to sample...the Troon Crystal Wiesen. Rachel told us it "tastes like Summer" and she was spot on! Ehhh, not my favorite Biergarten in Columbus. I was most surprised by the size of the restaurant and the Biergarten! The space is not large at all. The inside of the restaurant is very small as there are only two rows of tables for seating. The Biergarten is smaller than I had imagined as well. Seating is first come, first serve. You seat yourself. We arrived on a Friday evening and was very lucky to find a seat for the two of us. While eating, I noticed many who were not as fortunate and who stood the entire time we were there. After looking over the menu, you have to place your food/drink order at the bar. Your drink is served immediately while your food is served at your seat when ready. My husband and I started with a dunkel, radler, and pretzel with bier cheese. I loved my radler and I loved the pretzel. The pretzel was large, super soft, and served hot! The bier cheese on the other hand was not so great. It was gritty. It was like it was powdered cheese mixed with water or something. Blah! My husband ordered the hen, spatzel, and kartoffelsalat for his meal and I ordered the jagerschnitzel, spatzel, and sauerkraut. My husband enjoyed everything about his meal except the kartoffelsalat. I only enjoyed the jagerschnitzel out of my meal. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly. It was hot and crispy and I enjoyed the mushrooms and cream sauce on top. I felt that the spatzel lacked flavor and the sauerkraut was clearly out of a Vlasic jar. The main problem that I have with Gemut is that it lacks authenticity. The food was definitely not authentic German food and that was a big turn off for me. Met friends for an early dinner. Gemüt has several pluses going for them! A few minutes that could use a second look, however. The indoor space, while quite small, is decorated nicely. The bar was a decent length. Bright white walls and lots of light coming in the large front floor-to-ceiling windows. The dinning area holds something like six or eight tables. All were used when we showed up, tho. The ordering process is like a true biergarten - stand in line, order, given a number, then find a seat; they do not employ waiters/waitresses to tend to a group of tables. When your foods's ready, runners bring it to you. Luckily, we managed to walk in and get in line before the rush. I could see this becoming an issue when the colder months set in, especially on the weekends, because as people que in line, the space becomes over-stuffed. You walk past the brewing equipment to head out back. The outdoor patio area is very nice. It's so nice having the cloth draped overhead to block the hot sun. You can also order from the stand out there, but, once again, come cold days, no one's gonna wanna freeze there ass off in the name of authentic German beer and food. Word is they're working on getting electric heaters out there, but it'll depend on how powerful they are, something to block the cold winds, etc. My observable annoyances somewhat subsisted after trying their food. I ordered their classic Bratwurst plate, which comes with your choice of side; I picked their Kartoffelsalat (German style potatoes). Very good! The pork sausage was juicy and tasted great. The potatoes were a very pleasant surprise - the bacon vinaigrette (the perfect amount!) was rather, well, addictive! I'd definitely get this traditional meat-and-potatoes dish again. Prices are reasonable. Cleanliness was not an issue. Will the ordering/seating issues come to a bubble? Time will tell. I'm excited to see how Gemüt handles the patio situation, come winter.
