Robert, Thanks, but your response does not provide adequate accountability. If you read my review you can see that this was much more than just ONE missed telemedicine appointment. It was not canceled, she missed the appointment and could not be located by your office. Additionally, I was NOT informed of a two hour window and would never have agreed to that as I had another urgent obligation at 6:30. If she wasn't able to make the time - I should have been made aware. I would also expect some sort of follow up or apology from the compassionate doctor you are describing. My original message when I called on Monday was that I needed to take action for my dog. You would think that this would indicate a sense of urgency since this is a hospice vet. She never bothered to follow up in any way after she missed the appointment - even after additional messages were left for her. We were left scrambling to find last minute mercy for our dog. It's curious that when I first called back in May to initiate care, she was available within two hours to make a very expensive house call. But she was totally unavailable to return phone calls once she assigned herself to be our primary vet. She may be a great vet, but she most definitely dropped the ball in our case and added unnecessary stress and grief to an already heart wrenching situation. I'm not sure what prevented Dr Gonzalez from calling me for an entire week. Or what prevented her from personally reaching out to us to offer any kind of apology. But it shows the same lack of accountability, professionalism and compassion that we experienced for an entire week. Our dog deserved better. read more

It was the saddest time, but our Labrador let us know that it was time. Heartbreaking at best. Plus, my ever staunch partner hurting too, his heart breaking. We spent two days loving our big girl, and made the call to Gemcore. For a gay couple, we must always worry if the provider will treat us differently, or will they be professional. From the name, it felt a bit like calling a big corporate entity, which was not the case. She squeezed us in. My work in hospice was able to give a good assessment and the vet was kind and concerned. She took my words and gave her recommendations. I felt as ease, she was professional and kind. They arrived... After a short consult, I took Dr Gonzales to the back, where my partner and little girl were waiting. Our baby was comfortable, as she had been all day. When we walked in, my partner began to break, causing my own emotions to rise. Yet, our new friend and vet was calm and clear. She described the medications that she'd administer and why. Now, she gave them rather quickly, one after the other. Our little girl remained calm, until the third medication, which caused her to quickly raise her head and look up. That part still bothers me, as I wonder if she knew and changed her little mind, or did it hurt? But, we soothed our little one quickly and she went back to rest, as the last med was given. "Her little heart has stopped." There we're no other words as perfect as that. The vet gave us a few minutes alone, until taking our little girl away. It felt so surreal and the world was now different, missing a piece of joy. I really feel that we made the best call to Gemcore. They took our little girl away and in a week, I drove to pick her up. It feels right. And we miss her so much. And - she is back home now, her ashes are a comfort. In short, it is supposed to be a hard and difficult event. Even when it is solidly the right thing, to end suffering, it is hard. The sorrow lifts, as memories of the joy our pets brought slowly eclipses the grief. Dr. Gonzales made an unbearable situation, beautiful and peaceful and I would've never imagined it could go that way. She was so kind and walked us step-by-step what she was doing, our dog was so tired but seemed at ease with the doctor and she died peacefully in her big comfy bed as we pet her and told her how much we loved her. Our dog was very sick and dying at 15 years old. The doctor knew that we were struggling and she told us something that was very very comforting. She said better to do this a week early than a day late because you don't want to wait until it's a terrible emergency in the middle of the night. I know what we did was a compassionate thing and I am so glad we chose Dr. Gonzales. She and her assistant were very patient as we said our long goodbye and they never made us feel rushed. They wrapped Maya in a clean, fuzzy blanket and respectfully put her on a stretcher and she was the only dog in the car. She and the assistant let us say goodbye again. Dr Gonzalez and her staff were absolutely amazing and such a comfort during a painful, tough time putting my cat with cancer to sleep. We didn't want to put her through another anxious trip in the car, and I'm so glad we found Dr G to come to our home to help her pass peacefully. Beforehand, she sent me a feline quality of life index to help me identify when my cat was ready to go- it helped immensely because it's the hardest decision you can make, but having something to refer to so we knew the signs was so important. When it was time, Dr G was so accommodating of our schedule, made sure everything was COVID safe, brought us beautiful flowers, and was patient and caring when she explained the process of what she was going to do so my cat could transition. She gave us time to say goodbye and made my cat as comfortable as possible, ensuring that the process was quick and painless. Dr G transported my cat's body to Guardian Animal Aftercare so we didn't have to go through that, and was so kind to arranged for them to give us a clay pawprint when we pick up her ashes (there was also an option to have them shipped but we preferred to pick them up to to ensure nothing happened to them in the mail). Doctor Gonzales was with us for two euthanasia. The first one was for our Frenchie Ziggy, she was able to accommodate us late into the night. She explained all the medicine she was going to give Ziggy, what it will do to her body, what she will be feeling. She reassured us that Ziggy will not be in any pain with all the stuff she is injecting. Thanks to Gemcore, we were at peace with what we had to do with our dog. Within two weeks we had Ziggys remains back with us. That was in December 2023, three days ago, May 22, we needed Dr. Gonzales services again for our 20 year old Lhasa Apso. I can tell she was really tired and did not have the energy anymore. She did not want to eat, she couldn't support herself anymore. I called the doctor and explained to her and she reassured me again that this was the right thing to do. She came that same night and put our beloved Coco to sleep in our home. Dr. Gonzales helped my german shepherd when he got diagnosed with cancer. There was nothing more we can do in regard to treatment, but to transition to hospice/palliative care. Our initial hospice visit with Dr. Gonzales was very informative, and she prepared my family on what to expect in the next coming weeks/months for our shepherd. She prescribed a pain regimen that would help alleviate the pain from the cancer (tumor) on his shoulder. When my dog became unable to walk d/t paralysis- he would drag his paw, creating a wound. It was difficult to manage the wound, and Dr. Gonzales paid another home health visit to see our shepherd, provide wound care to him + additional supplies for us to keep. When the time came to euthanize our shepherd d/t poor quality of life- we were able to schedule a time, when my family was ready/available for her to come. My dog's experience with Dr. Gonzales was always loving and meaningful. When she put my dog to sleep in our living room, it was the most comforting and peaceful experience.
