Don't go here! I made the mistake of going here today. A group of us girls came here for a bridal party relax session. So this was for a special occasion. We called days ahead n made the appointment. We don't live in this area and so randomly foind this online. We came in after brunch n in a happy mood. Right away the receptionist n co owner was acting rude n pressured us to run our cards and store them before the service. She was already rolling her eyes and making it seem like she was doing us a favor n rushing us. Telling us we are already loosing time bc she took the time to run our cards before the service rather then after. So it already started out uncomfortable and maybe a bad idea. Went in the room at 1:10. It didn't start till 5 mins later. And yet the session was done 2:05. Not only did we not get the full time we were forced to pre pay for. The massage itself felt awkward and uncomfortable. All while we had to sit up for a neck massage instead of laying down. N with full pressure just pushing me down. Finally lay down n starts the feet. I literally got 40 mins of just s foot massage with the same movement. Did t do my shins or calves or knees. Just brushed over those areas! Then right when he was done he starts pounding on me n rips the cover off without any warning of letting me gather myself. All while standing there n watching me. I kind of made peace that this was an awful experience n Ofcourse never coming back and it was for my friends bachelorette party. But once I got to the front the guy Owner and wife were there asking everyone coming out for tips collecting tips. N also other customers were sitting n waiting. I come out of the restroom to him questioning me on tip. I politely say no tip. He then pressed really aggressively as to why. I try yo explain but he's already cutting me off n yelling at me in front of people. N berating me! Abusing me! I realized he doesn't care. This isn't s service for them it's just about money! Feeling humiliated n yet I paid for the service I was walking out n he then started questioning my friend as to why I didn't want to tip who was completely taken back by it all. It was so odd. I mean I still planned on paying for the service. But after all that n the owner screaming at me and saying to never come back I realized I shouldn't be paying for this. Dropped in on my way home from work and was able to get in with Tom for a back/foot combo massage. The desk associate was so helpful and kind. They got me in quickly. I didn't know what to expect but I loved the common area massage room. It was peaceful and quiet but not too dark. There was something comforting about being in a common area. No overwhelming smells or music. Just some very light relaxing instrumental sounds. Everyone was super professional and I felt like Tom helped me keep modestly covered throughout my session. I would highly recommend 100%. Very reasonable pricing but make sure you bring cash as they can accept CC payments but cannot accept CC tips. Spouse and I came in before and loved what we did. Asked if there was a way to do the "A" but for 90 mins instead of 60 mins. They reassured us that "C"is the same/ better and does the longer version of what we wanted. Confirmed this information with both male and female staff up front more Than once. I have been to Gen Foot spa several times, it has always been very good with experienced masseuses. However this time was extremely unpleasant. It was very obvious the masseuse did not know what he was doing, he continuously would massage my bones rather than muscle. Hardly any of it was enjoyable and I was relieved when it finally ended. Went in not really knowing much but was always curious how I'd feel after a deep foot massage and this was the best experience ever! I can't recommend this place to enough people. It was sadly the fastest hour of my life and I wish it could have gone on forever. The back massage at the beginning was a nice way to get relaxed and ready for the rest of the service. First time here and pleased! I was looking for an affordable place I could bring my tween and teen athlete daughters to when they need a massage for achy muscles! I brought them and the three of us got the combo back/foot massage. Cons: My to go place is Green Massage near South Coast Plaza. I gave Gen a try and was displeased - Unlike Green massage they have everyone in one room. They also take your top off which made me uncomfortable. The sheets smelled moldy when I was face down on the bed. PLUS - they are double the price of Green massage. I'll start by saying that I didn't feel safe from the start of the massage. as soon as the massage started, I had a book in my hand which should have sent the message that I wanted to relax. The guy that massaged me (Keita) started on my neck so hard that it startled me. I didn't feel safe and then as he was digging on my upper back and shoulders, he began breathing hard in my ear. at this point, I told myself I could deal with that and hoped that his ridiculously hard technique was just his signature start and that he could tell I needed something hard. Let me be clear... my body language, breathing, grunting (and saying ouch), I'll showed that I didn't enjoy how insanely deep he was going. Then he began massaging on the bone way too much and the pressure was unbelievably hard in the most tender spots. It felt like he was taking out anger on my body. He never warmed up areas. He just started digging SUPER HARD. I was having to breath so loud and grunt to deal with it. I moved on probably 10 + occasions to give myself a break. And he didn't get the point! The worst part is that he was trying so hard but couldn't get any of the non verbal cues I was giving. I tried to tell me that it was his "technique" and that it was somehow good for me. I was literally saying "F@!/ me" under my breath so he could hear me. I was flailing on the table (which I hate to admit haha) because of the pain of his digging. 99.9% of massage therapists would have checked in on me but he just kept digging. I am baffled and angry and speechless. When I was finished, I tried to start a conversation with the people at the front because I wanted to know if there was reading material on their technique. So I said to them, "wow, he's so strong, right?!" And they got defensive and said "you asked for this" pointed at lamented piece of paper that had the words "light, medium, deep" for pressure levels (he was pointing at deep of course). Dissatisfied... I was asked what parts I would like focus on. I let them know that I needed neck, back, glutes, quads & hamstrings. Once I was walked back I tried taking my clothes off as I was told i had the option of off or on the masseur said, "no no, keep on". The massage I paid for, $72, was a rub over my clothes for 45mins on my back, a quick elbow and forearm the the legs and some pounding on my heels. Such a disappointing experience. This was one of the rudest customer service experiences ever. My mom and I spoke with the man at the front desk, who never smiled or greeted us in a welcoming way. He seemed angry that we didn't want to pay up front after he asked. After we discussed what massages we wanted, he kept us standing at the front for a few minutes with us wondering when things would get started since he didn't bother giving any further direction. Can I explain how much I love the foot spa? I didn't know what it was until a neighbor recommended it to me. Then I mentioned it to my sister who had been previously and she said it was great. Basically, you walk into a dark room with 15-20 other chairs/beds and they massage you. The foot massage (1 hour) starts with you seated on an ottoman, and they rub your shoulders, arms, hands and back while your feet are in a warm bucket of water. Then after 15-20 mins, they ask you to lay/sit on the recliner and they will rub your feet (from feet to knees) for 40 minutes. Then they may rub your thighs (over your clothes) and then your hour is up. I've also done the back and foot massages. Very nice as well. Generally all therapists are men (specifically Chinese) although I have seen a few female therapists. It's a very safe feeling place. You don't get that creepy vibe that illicit things would happen. This place is a damn joke. I wasted my lunch hour on this "foot spa" and am still hurting from it. My boss sent me here as a reward for winning a contest. First off, I come in and say I want a full body massage with medium intensity. I get asked if I'm pregnant in a rude tone. I get walked in and lay down next to someone who nothing in between us. I also keep my clothing on at all times. The guy who worked on me was not "medium". He was INTENSE. It was a brutal hour. He could feel me tensing up and saying it was too hard. He didn't let off. My upper back just under my neck feels bruised. It was ridiculous. To top off this horrific experience, I go to pay using our corporate card and wasn't paying attention since I was already over it. Sign off the receipt and then the lady up front had the AUDACITY to ask me for a tip. I said I didn't have my boss's approval. She rebuttals with, "I can charge the card again. Gen Foot Spa is amazing! This place is such a hidden gem and I'm so happy I found it. I was looking for a decent priced foot massage place and found this place. I called and was able to get an appointment a few hours later which was great! I was walked in and greeted by the lady at the front desk. She was very friendly and offered me water right away. Then she asked me to fill out a paper including if I had any pains or aches so that my massage therapist would know. After I did that she asked me to pay before the treatment which I was more than happy to do. The masseuse I had was very good! He checked in with me through the massage to make sure I was happy with the pressure and that I was enjoying myself. The hour went by very quickly and it was an amazing massage! I went to this place recommended by a friend . As soon as you walk in the first question they ask you is about the tip you are giving! They don't really care about your symptoms or recommend a massage. This place has a very low energy. They don't treat you with respect. When you walk inside the massage room the vibe is awkward. I didn't appreciate the fact that in the middle of the massage I was asked to take my top off. No towel was given to me or any preparation before the massage. I'm definitely not planning to return to this place. I agree with the previous reviewers regarding how rude the reception person is. Went with my boyfriend and both got a combo massage. My boyfriend asked for gentle pressure and I asked for firm (but not deep). When the masseuse wasn't on bone the massage was enjoyable for me, however, he consistently put pressure directly on my spine which was very painful; today my spinal area is tender. My boyfriend had a similar experience with me masseuse digging in aggressively with his elbow despite having requested gentle pressure. I also felt what felt like crotch area pressing on my arm multiple times. I think the masseuses need more training on appropriate massage techniques as well as body placement. read more

On Monday evening 8/15/2022 I had a massage at this place. I felt great coming in, I was simply attempting to relax after a long day of walking. During the night, I fell ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. I was diagnosed with COVID. This parlor has STOPPED performing additional sanitation between clients, only changing the sheets, without performing any kind of disinfectant spray or wiping of the face cradle. I noticed this as I was getting dressed and the therapist was fixing the table for the next client. For those who believe it's not possible to test positive the next day, that's incorrect. I called the parlor to let them know I had contracted Covid there and EVEN IF I HAD NOT, there's a serious issue with their cleanliness. They are refusing to offer a refund and I am pursuing filing a complaint with the state board. So, anyone who was there on 8/15/2022 please respond if you've fallen ill as well, we have legal standing to file suit. read more

Very disappointing. It was just weird being in the room with everyone. The back massage hurt. I kept telling the guy lighter and less pressure but nothing changed. He was very aggressive not relaxing at all. Very rough even wiping my feet clean. He definitely didn't know what he was doing. To start, the front desk people are not friendly or welcoming when you walk in. My mom and I both got a 60 minute foot massage and both of the people massaging us fell asleep or just stopped massaging multiple times during the massage. They also focused on one part of the bottom of the foot for nearly the entire time. The worst part was at the end of the massage, we each tipped 20% in cash to each of our masseuses and they started counting their tip in front of us and then chased us outside and were yelling at us in a different language. They then stormed angrily back inside and we went in to ask the front desk what was wrong and she said they wanted more tip. This is so unprofessional and ridiculous. A 20% tip is more than generous for someone who fell asleep multiple times during the massage. Will not be coming back. read more

I had paid the extra $6 for the hot stone treatment to be added on to the one hour foot massage. The person forgot to do the hot stones and so I had to remind him. He did about two minutes on each side and that was it. I thought that the massage was basic and not great. I told This to the short guy out front when he expected me to leave a tip. I told him that I wasn't happy with the hot stone that I paid extra for. It didn't even phase him. This isn't the first time that I've told the guy out front that I wasn't happy with the overall experience and that there were things that were lacking. He still expected me to leave a tip. When I said that I wasn't going to leave a tip, he told me not to come back. There is absolutely no Customer Service at this place at all and I've come here several times I paid for the service. The tip is extra if I was happy with the service itself if you go, just know you are expected to pay a tip whether the service is good or not. read more
