Fresh vegetables had to be added to the meat and protein diet here.

The food was awesome. We started with Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice and Gochujang Fries. For the mmain course we cooked K Gochujang Beef, SAMGYUBSAL (PREMIUM PORK BELLY) SPICY SAMGYUBSAL (MARINATED SPICY PORK Belly), K-GOCHUJANG beef belly, HAWAIIAN STEAK (SWEET BEEF TERIYAKI WITH PINEAPPLE SLICES), BEEF BULGOGI (MARINATED PRIME CHUCK ROLL), Spicy Calimari, Fresh vegetables were so delicious. Service was very good with our server being very attentive and knowledgeable. The ambiance is very bright and uplifting. The delicious smells of everyone cooking at their table is part of the ambience. Our dog couldn't stop sniffing us after got home. Note: Don't try to put every piece on the cooker as it makes you (me) eat too fast.

Had an amazing time yesterday at Gen! My friends and I always enjoy coming to this location since there's little to no wait time unlike the downtown location. Avery was a great server and helped make sure we got everything we needed! He was super fun and enjoyable. Food was 10/10 as well! You really can't go wrong with giving Gen a try

Vegan option/cooking my veggies on a clean grill.

I came here with my aunts, mom, sibling, and cousin for a evening outing. My aunt had such a great time at this restaurant with her coworkers and had high raves. However, the night we came, our waiter, Ethan was awful. He forgot to bring out our sides. He only brought out salad, the meats for the rest of my party, side vegetables, a small amount of sauces, and some rice. Since I'm vegan, I ordered a side order of rice sticks and japchae. I wasn't able to eat any of the soup since they are not vegan, the broth is made from beef despite having tofu in it. The japchae was disgusting and tasted like it was cooked in old grease. The primary flavor was old grease and nothing else. It was terrible. The restaurant does not have any soy sauce which is strange. Rice sticks were okay, but nothing spectacular. It tasted store-bought doused in brown sauce. The sauces that Ethan brought out were in a tiny tray and it was not easy to pour out without the sauces mixing into each other. The green tea salt was basically green-colored salt. There was a small amount of sesame seed oil too. I let my aunts, mum, sibling, and cousin cook their meat on the grill first before I cooked the side vegetables to avoid cross contamination. Ethan brought out a clean grill so I could cook my vegetables. I equally enjoyed myself with the family, but it would have been better if Ethan had brought out all of our food. I don't think it was worth $31 pp for dinner. Ethan forgot to bring out my sibling's dessert. He told us that he was going to bring it out in a takeout box, and within 30 seconds, he was bringing the dessert to the table when we were paying for our meal. Then, he said, "Oh, I forgot to bring it in a takeout box." WTF. I don't recommend this location.

We brought the cake. Had a great time.

We went here for my daughter in-law's birthday. My first time at a Korean BBQ!! We had a great! The food was awesome, very fresh. Love the Bulgogi. The Riblets are amazing!! They change out your grill for you when it gets stuck with food. Our waiter was nice , missed a couple of things that were ordered, but we still had a great time . This place is big but has a good vibe. The lighting is good too. I would come back.

I've been here multiple times in the past and had a great experience each time, however this very last visit left me very underwhelmed. It's hard to go bad with majority of the food since you cook it yourself but the Mandus that we ordered came out cold and the tofu soup only had 3 pieces of zucchini and one large block of tofu in it. Considering that we've been to this location and the Houston location multiple times in the past, it was very different and unexpected to receive the tofu soup like that. The flavor was still good, a little salty, however I would've enjoyed more veggies in it. Service was very very slow even though we came before the rush. Slow service ruined the whole experience for us.

I've been to a few locations for Gen Korean bbq and this one is pretty consistently good. Always have to load up on the galbi (thinly sliced ribeye) , spicy pork bulgogi, thinly sliced brisket, etc. Also love their bonchon and sides like jap chae noodles, soondubu soup, and dumplings. Depending on how busy it is service can be a little slow ,but ~30 dollar AYCE kbbq for dinner is still a great deal all things considered and is worth visiting for a kbbq fix.

Ethan is the far worst waiter here! We came in as an party of 6 women. The host tried to sit all 6 of us in a small booth so we can be cramped so we asked to be sat at a table. When we got to our table we waited for 10 minutes before a waiter came over and took our order. Ethan, a young Asian guy who is tall with short hair came over and began to take our order. He took each order from each side of the table (3 to 3). He explained the dinner price and concept to all of us. He told us, we each cannot order 6 different items however only 3 each & noted that it's unlimited all you can eat. For the appetizers we ordered the: deep fried mandu, katsu fish, KFC, jap chen, rice sticks, hotteok. I noticed we received our meats but the KFC never came out and we had to keep repeating and reminding Ethan about bringing it out. He finally tells us in the middle of our meal that the kitchen ran out of KFC at a Korean restaurant. The fish katsu had an aftertaste as if it was fried in old oil. The jap chen didn't come as pictured with vegetables on top and it didn't taste freshly made to order. The rice cakes were okay, nothing spectacular. Ethan took our order once and never came back to our table. We had to keep flagging him down as he momentarily passed our table. I kept thinking to myself how is it AYCE, if the waiter refuses to wait on us???! Ethan is very forgetful and unknowledgeable, my sister is vegan and she wanted to have the tofu soup. As she asked Ethan what was the broth of both soups, Ethan proceeds to inform us he doesn't know. He asks the kitchen and both soups are made with a beef broth! What an oxymoron! Why have tofu in a meat broth? That beats the purpose of tofu! So my sister ends up having practically nothing to eat. Ethan never brought out of dinner menu sides such as the whipped potato, kimchi, and pickle. It was only when we noticed the table next to us had it and by the time we noticed Ethan had given us our checks. Aside from our crappy waiter, I enjoyed the beef belly honey soy, the pineapple chicken, & pork riblet. Ethan will make your experience unforgettably sour, annoyed, & unpleasant. For the price of the dinner menu you shouldn't have to deal with an incompetent waiter who refuses to wait on a party of 6, customers shouldn't have to flag down, keep reminding and repeating their needs to a waiter, and sit for several minutes waiting for a no show waiter just to eat. At the end of the dinner, I ordered the hotteok dessert and one last order of mandu. None of it came out in an appropriate amount of time. We sat waiting, waiting, and waiting.. we tired of being ignored. Ethan takes no time bringing over our checks. We tell him again where's the dumplings and dessert. He reminds us that he's going to check and get it sent out in a to-go box. We hand him over our cards and there's still no to-go box. He comes over to bring us pens and we remind him again. It's the more reminding him and his forgetful mind that sends us over. It is definitely not worth $31 per person if we never get what we're supposed to get on the AYCE. Horrible location, if you ever come please do yourself a favor & request another server that's not Ethan.

I wanted to introduce a friend of mine to Korean bbq, and since her birthday had just passed, I offered to treat her to a meal here. I had dined at the midtown location several times, but it had been awhile, so I was excited to revisit Gen. Lunch was fairly dead. Upon entry, there was no host, and we had to wait a bit to be greeted, which I was wary of at first. But the rest of the experience for the meal was pretty good. For $20, the all you can eat lunch option is a steal with plenty of variety despite the less options. The free appetizers here are rather weak. The mandu dumplings came out room temperature, the fried chicken came over cooked and burned. The japchae is the only one I really enjoyed. The banchan selection is rather limited, but the cabbage kimchi is tasty as well as the cold corn mashed potatoes. Yum! They weren't able to provide whole lettuce leaves when I requested it, which was a bit strange as that is a kbbq staple. Instead they have a chopped up leaf salad with dressing instead to use. I did request some without the dressing at least. The meat portions are small, but hey, it's AYCE so no biggie with just the two of us. We tried a variety of beef and pork items and marinaded and non marinated options. I loved the brisket and beef belly, and my friend absolute enjoyed the pork belly. By the end of the meal, she was cooking and cutting up meat on her own like a pro! Our waitress was fairly attentive and took care of my various special requests. She even let us order a few equivalent items off the dinner menu because my friend had an allergy that prevented her from ordering a few lunch items. Overall great experience, especially for the first timers

Perfectly juicy, tender, and packed with smoky flavor. But what really puts this place over the top is the tater tot casserole. Great sides can make the meal, and this one absolutely does. It's ridiculously good... like I'd happily eat an entire bowl of just the casserole. We ordered the brisket, pork ribs, beef rib, both sausages, and, of course, a whole lot of tater tot casserole. While you're waiting in line, they hand out samples of the brisket so you can decide whether you want lean or fatty. Fatty all day for me. The beef rib was massive and had an incredible smoky flavor, but low-key, I think the sausages ended up being my favorite meat of the day. They were juicy, flavorful, and didn't get overshadowed by everything else. We got there around 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday and waited about an hour in line. It sounds long, but they make it easy with water and drinks available for purchase while you wait. Our order didn't actually take that long. Or maybe it took a little while and we didn't mind waiting. Either way, it wasn't that bad! Luckily it's located in a shopping area so there's always parking. My main gripe is that they close at 7pm. I'm sure there's a good reason for that but I've wanted to try it multiple times before but they've been closed! I ended up going with the infamous brisket and fried rice. The brisket was super tender - I was able to pull it apart with my fork. I typically shy away from brisket because usually it's tough. But this was delicious - tender and had a nice smoky flavor. Not overwhelming or too salty. The rice had a great flavor too. There were chunks of meat in that as well and the rice had a nice smoky flavor. Not too salty or greasy. It also came with some accoutrements - pickled onions, fresh pickled cucumbers, jalapeños, bbq sauce and bread. The cucumbers and onions stole the show - very fresh and refreshing. We were surprised at the pickled onions - they were soo good! Overall - worth the hype! I'll definitely be back to try ribs, chicken or pulled pork sandwich. I heard everything is good here!!

Killen's never disappoints…read more Their beef ribs were just short of amazing. Juicy, succulent, tender. For a giant piece of meat on the bone, they worked wonders. You can ask to see the piece of rib before they cut it for you and they will happily oblige (patrons behind you might not be so thrilled with that move, but they'll live). Sides were excellent as were the mashed potatoes with white gravy on the side, green beans that were just tender enough, but also a bit crunchy. Perfect. They were seasoned with pork, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip it. We also ordered their shareable onion rings, easily enough for three people that were huge, hot, and crispy. Let's get this out of the way, some of their prices are a little up there, but if you're anything like me, and don't frequent BBQ places often, it's a rare but enjoyable treat. Sometimes you have to splurge and live a little. Also, they have their regular sauce on tables, but you now have to ask the cashier for their sublime coffee BBQ sauce. Don't be shy, ask. It's worth it. Oh, pro tip: If you want beef ribs, the 'plate' is actually cheaper and a better deal than 'by the pound', so save a little money and get two sides.

The restaurant is cute and they do their best to keep the service consistent throughout the entire visit. The BBQ was a little dry but good. The disappointing part of the trip were the sides. 95% of the sides had pork in them which made the entire wait not worth it. This was my first time visiting and it will be my last.

The counter service keeps things moving while the food speaks for itself. The brisket was exactly what you'd hope for: a pronounced bark, a rendered fat cap, and slices that held together until they were pulled apart. The surprise for me was the brisket taco. Instead of feeling like a gimmick, it showcased the meat in a different way, balancing smoke, richness, and fresh toppings without masking the brisket. Good barbecue restaurants know their sides matter just as much as the meat. The mac and cheese was creamy, the sausage had a satisfying snap, and the house barbecue sauce complemented rather than covered the smoke. If you're visiting Houston, this is the kind of place that reminds you why Texas barbecue has earned its reputation. Efficient counter service, excellent brisket, and enough menu variety to keep you coming back.

I had been craving BBQ for a couple weeks and decided to give the pit room a try. My husband had…read morebeen here before for work and he enjoyed it so I decided to try! The environment is super cool, plenty of seating, a bar, private rooms, a dessert bar. I enjoyed the atmosphere, but the workers spoke Spanish to each other the whole time until it was time to check out, so there wasn't much engagement. Which lead to a mix up of my order that we had to fix. What we are all here for, the FOOD: Chicken: Very juicy, tender, basic chicken, a great portion. I was grossed out by the amount of blood under the skin. (I KNOW it's an animal with blood but I've never had bbq with that amount of blood on the meat) but I'm not penalizing them for it. Def 7/10! Brisket: Super tender, melted in the mouth, great taste. 8/10 Green beans: Not greasy, tender (not mushy or undercooked). I think they may have spilled the seasoning into the batch they main because holy moly, a TON of pepper and salt. I'm heavy handed with my seasonings but that amount didn't seem intentional. I'd never thought I'd say this but the flavor would've been great with less seasoning. 5/10 Mac&cheese: Nothing special but definitely better than most bbq spots. I enjoy the texture and light flavor 7/10 Elote: Yummy but where's the beloved cilantro?! 8/10 Cornbread: Great flavor, not dry, and had jalapeno peppers in it! Super yummy 9/10. My only thing too, they had only 2 bbq sauce options, a bourbon coffee and their house bbq. To me, they were not good at all. I was extremely disappointed in that. Other bbq spots have like 8 different bbq sauces
