Great experience at The Monks. The space is beautiful and inviting, and the staff was incredibly helpful and polite. The menu is a dream if you love both Chinese and Indian cuisine, truly the best of both worlds. We started with the Gobi Manchuria: crunchy battered cauliflower in a thick, garlicky sauce. Comforting, bold, and perfectly seasoned. Then came the Goat Vindaloo with white rice and naan. The goat was very tender, and the sauce had that sweet‑tangy balance that keeps you going back for more. Paired with the fluffy rice and the naan, which was flaky, pillowy, and crispy all at once, it was wonderful. We also tried the Chinese street noodles with egg. Very spicy, but incredibly addictive. Glad we finally have Monks location in the Clear lake area after having to commute to Pearland/Heights. We went two weeks after the initial opening and the location was packed. The location was large with a modern interior and staff were friendly and accommodating. We tried the Chili garlic shrimp, butter chicken, chicken biryani, chicken tikka momos, street style noodles,and garlic naan. The dishes were flavorful and spicy but portions were a little on the smaller side. But we especially liked the momos with the chutney and the street style noodles. Probably our favorite indo-chinese chain in Houston and worth trying if you live in the Webster area. read more

This is probably my new favorite Indian restaurant in the Webster area if you're looking for Indian fusion. I love indo-Chinese cuisine because the flavors pack a punch without conforming to any one type of dish. We got the gully paneer with the medium spicy level, and it was super yummy. Definitely my favorite dish of the three we got to share. We also got Chinese bhel, which tasted so fresh and crunchy with the onions and cilantro on top. The chili garlic gobi sauces SO RICH, and that with naan was 10/10 as well. Our waitress spoke telugu, and the staff were really nice, so if you want to have Indian food definitely come here! Also loved the ambiance because of all the booths, and I can't lie - seeing Harry Potter on the tv screen was entertaining. read more

First time at Monk's 5/29 for early dinner. We enjoy Indian food but are far from being experts. Found Monk's to be very authentic and flavorful. Had the Jalferzi and Mughlai, both with chicken. Enjoyed every last bite! Entrees come with bowl of long grain rice. Entrees are 5 star. Also had the garlic naan which was just OK, like the service - 3 star. They were doing a lot of takeout business, and there are several interesting dishes we want to try on future visits. Overall 4.5 stars. read more

Came for their soft opening this weekend and we were pleasantly surprised as to how clean and beautiful decorated it was. Food came out at a decent time and you can tell staff were really trying their best when every table was filled. Food was flavorful - our favorite was the chicken lollipops (drums of heaven)! I got the saag paneer, and it was a delightful experience. It was sufficiently buttery and spicy (I got medium spice). I like that they don't use cilantro - only as a garnish. I called before to ask if they used cilantro in this dish, and the lady who answered the phone was so kind and went to ask the kitchen for me. The salt level was perfect. The basmati rice was also very well cooked in my opinion. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes, and I got there right at 15-16 minutes, it was ready as I walked in. We've been here three times now each time we think the service should be better but it's not. The food is great. The service horrible. Last time there were two tables and the service was still deplorable. They literally acted like they would like us to leave. I thought this would end up being a to go place but after thinking about it, there are too many other great restaurants in Friendswood that want our business, I'd rather give it to them. Portions are small, but that's OK because the food isn't great. I ordered saag paneer and chicken tikka masala. The paneer had more onions in it than spinach, and the onions were so undercooked they were crunchy. It really was stomach turning. The chicken tikka masala sauce is OK, but there were only five cubes of chicken in the whole order, also chunks of undercooked onion and jalapeños in the chicken tikka masala. It would be nice if they had some descriptions of the ingredients on the menus, because I would never have ordered this. I'm trying to eat it, because I spent $40 on it. I think the majority of it is going to go in the trash. The people were nice, but I couldn't be more disappointed. I won't be back. read more

Food was good but as a party of 6, we asked for separate checks. When the waitress brought the device to pay our check there was the option to choose the tip and to OK the charge. It turned out that yes, we received separate checks, but they had divided the total bill by 6 and used that amount for each of us. The waitress clearly understood what we wanted but choose to ignore our request. Will not go there again. read more
