We tried brisket, steak, garlic pork belly, and an assortment of sides including hotteok which I've never seen at a bbq place before. The meat was super tender and thinly cut, and the garlic pork belly had generous seasoning. I thought the meat had great quality. The sides on the other hand was average, particularly the banchan. Ambiance of this place is spot on! It's beautiful and calm. We went on a Sunday and at first they weren't too busy and then got a small rush. We really enjoy this restaurant. The menu has so many options to choose from. We love to start off with appetizers and then move to meat. We add the mixed vegetables and sometimes the salad. The bulgogi is our favorite meat of choice here. There's something about it that tastes so good. I love the variety of sauces that they give you when you sit down as well as what comes with the appetizers. Hint: Keep the sauces that come with the appetizers to use with your meat. This place used to be hit or miss for me so I was holding off on giving my most up to date review. However, I think they are a solid KBBQ option on this side of town. Service varies from being super on top of it, to forgetting meats and needing to ask multiple times. One thing I've noticed is that I've only ever been seated at a working vent once. Some booths don't even seem to have them. I wish it was more the the norm because having the fans help SO MUCH with the after dinner scents. The meats are pretty consistent in all my visits. Sometimes the portions between meats will vary when I try different things but the actual cuts remain the same in my experience. My absolute favorite is the wine marinated pork belly! So delicious! This new to the Waterford area Korean bbq is a great addition. I've gone a few times since they have opened a couple months ago. The restaurant is dimly lit, with blue lights surrounding it all, with minimalistic decorations inside glass cases. The service the times that we have gone have been slower than other Korean bbqs that I have gone in the area. However, the presentation and quality of the food and meats are better. My husband loves the food here more than other places.To me, it was pretty on par as others. Our servers that we have had have been friendly, just slow to get the food out to us. The food variety is pretty decent. They have a huge cocktail menu, mainly drinks on the sweeter side. Honestly, they have been pretty great experiences. Before I go back to California I have to try the GEN here. Pretty much the menu over was the same but they upgraded them with more cocktails which is amazing!! Food tastes the same back in Cali, my friends was first time trying this place so I recommend some good meats. They love it! I got Capri soju it's so good!! My friend got the party bowl, it doesn't taste much alcohol but he loves it. That's all that matters. Great food feels like I'm back home! Our server did amazing I didn't get his name. I decided to give this place another try and I can definitely say this time was leagues better than the first. I went on a Sunday evening and luckily it wasn't super busy so there was no wait time. I forgot the server's name but he was great, very attentive and checked up on our table frequently for orders and refills. So... Never done this before. It was a little difficult to comprehend at first. You sit around a "grill" which is a convex steel plate with holes. Different from a hibachi which is more like a home grill. But over the course of the evening I saw how this works well, they can easily replace the plate with a clean one. You'll want that after the chicken and shrimp. Once I got into it, the process was pretty fun. Fortunately some at our table of 6 knew what to order and how to run the grill. The biggest decision was if to upgrade to the premium menu. DO IT !! The ribeye alone is worth the price. Personally I did not like the Wagu but others loved it. just hit me with short rib and ribeye with a chicken chaser. Even the shrimp was fun. Sad experience, manager should have planned ahead to staff accordingly. Server Mary when changing the hot plate that you cook on, used scissors, yep, scissors to pick it up and replace the hot plate with another one with the same scissors. Not using the allocated proper equipment, but rather what she could find. Unsafe for the worker. Other customers around us had a "radish" to clean their hot plate. We never got one at all. Though I can't complete fault the servers, Mary and Victor, for the serve times and lack of service, primary responsibility falls on the management, their poor training and attention to detail in relation to customer service. We were sat right away and our waiter brought the appetizers and the menu. We ordered both chicken and beef. One BIG red flag is that they brought one pair of scissors to cut both raw chicken and raw beef. We had to ask for a 2nd pair... also at some point our tongs fell on the floor and the waitress picked them up and put them back on the table... we had to ask for her to change it for a clean one. Everything is included in the price (we got the basic selections, no upgrades) They want you to order appetizers first, before they start bringing meat out to you. This is key, as you can (and will) fill up on appetizers first and then not be hungry for meat. So, balance what you order. You can always re-order appetizers, so maybe just start with one and then get onto the meat. Meat selection was good. No issues w/cooking it ourselves. Server was good. Our experience was marred by them not having working A/C at the time we went. Holy heck, did it get hot inside + having the table being a heat source as well. We do love that option. Justin came around. Checked up on us often. The meats definitely came out in a timely manner. The premium wagyu beef is supreme. We always enjoy that. We did have an issue with what we saw that there was a piece of hair in our white rice. Told Justin about it. He didn't mention it to the manager. Since the last time that we had been to a Gen, we noticed that they have expanded their menu quite a bit to include even tacos (although I didn't really enjoy those). We ordered off of the premium menu and there was a wide variety of items to choose from. The quality of the meats were decent and there were a good amount of sides. The décor is stunning, especially the enclosed vases and ambient lighting throughout the space. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the atmosphere. Our server seemed far more attentive to other tables, and at times it genuinely felt like we had been forgotten. We interacted with her coworkers more often than with her, and every request--from side dish refills to appetizers and even drinks--took 15-25 minutes or required multiple follow-ups. We kept being told, "Let me check on that," but nothing arrived promptly. (When we first arrived the cooking utensils were dirty and after waiting a while for the drink we ordered it was disappointing. The watermelon basil tasted like melted down Halls Cough Drops-I'm serious when I say tasted like straight up cough syrup) The pricing is fair at around $30 per person for all-you-can-eat dinner.
