So, I sent the below review on 10/26/22. Supposedly the business owner responded to my review below on 10/26/22. Business owner said to email customer care with my concerns. The lady I spoke to was very kind, however, she basically read my email - then spoke to Bo Hurst (sales manager), and emailed me back and said sorry- but you will not get a refund. Just a waste of time dealing with customer care they will always take the side of General Rv as they probably pay their salaries. It still amazes me that this fortune 500 company will not refund a deposit and take care of their repeat customer. They are willing to lose my business than refund $2500. Horrible customer service. My advice to anyone thinking about purchasing a RV from General RV in Ashland I would make sure you are 200% sure you want to buy when you start looking and signing documents in their office. My wife and I gave a deposit of $5,000 dollars for a fifth wheel. I will admit they have a policy that stated no refunds. However, on the next day I called and spoke to Bo Hurst. After a not so friendly conversation he said NO refunds. I said- my wife and I weren't thinking about the storage fee we would have to pay in Florida and we could no longer afford the monthly payment of the RV plus the storage fee. Just an oversight on our part. I said- I am a returning customer and would think you would have better a understanding and customer service policy for previous customers and a combat veteran. I asked again for a refund. He said no refund. We went back and forth on the phone for 3 days. Bo Hurst finally agreed to refund $2500 not the full $5000. I have never dealt with a more cold blooded and ruthless person. My advice to anyone thinking about buying an RV from this place don't give them a down payment unless you are 200% sure you want to purchase. They will not return your hard earned money in full. Update! Brittni (one of the supervisors) just called (Oct 22nd. at 12:20pm Eastern time) and said they would not reimburse us for the additional repairs that was their fault unless we REMOVED the Facebook Review giving them a poor rating! I frankly said you can stick that $302.98 up your A** and I'll be Damned if I'm going to be BLACKMAILED! The worst service and overly priced service. At $165.00 per hour (if you buy an RV from them to $195.00 per hour if not. It took 3 weeks to get an appointment, once they diagnosed the problem which took 24 hours, it took about two weeks to get the part needed. Since we live full time in our RV, we had to get a hotel for about 2 weeks. When the part came in on Thursday, then Nikki (our go to person) said they could not get to it until Monday. Another weekend in a hotel. Finally, Monday they so called repaired it. Left out Monday evening at closing headed to our next designation about 300 miles away. Well after their bill of $2755.64 the backup camera goes out and the black water holding tank is leaking! By the way that's what we brought it in for. So, we call another RV repair shop (Garland RV of Tennessee). They see it the next day and repaired what General RV couldn't at a cost of $302.98. I've sent the invoice to Nikki for reimbursement but receive no return calls. Don't fall for the 40 bays, they are so unorganized and their phones are constantly out and it takes at least 8 hours before you get a call back from anyone! Beware! read more

Just bought a used 2018 Tiffin Phaeton 37BH. Our salesman, Kenneth Wilson, was patient in looking for the right coach for my wife and me. His wife, Meredith, also helped in the process when I showed up unannounced and Kenneth was tied up with another customer. Brandon did a very nice job (a little soft-spoken for me with a slight hearing loss) through the 2 hour orientation briefing to help us become familiar with the coach. Chris helped brief me on hooking up my Jeep Grand Cherokee to the coach by means of a Blue Ox tow bar. I liked that he let me go through much of the steps "hands on" rather than just watching him. I learn better by doing rather than watching. Kimberlie also was very informative and helpful coordinating the financing and explaining the options available to cover the coach There is no wear on the seats or couches, they look new. I hope when it comes time to need service, they do as well as the sales team. Thank you all. read more

Wonderful experience purchasing a Grand Design Solitude 310GK fifth wheel from General RV in Ashland, VA. We went there to look for a Montana High Country; however, they gave us such a great deal on the Solitude that we were able to upgrade our unit for slightly more money. Jud Wilton is an amazing salesperson and has checked in with us numerous times to ensure that everything went as planned and called to make sure we made it home safely! Brandon, Colby, and Shantee also made the pick-up flawless. We really appreciated the snacks as well. Our purchase agreement called for a Reese hitch to be installed on our truck; however, they installed a B&W hitch, which is much more expensive. They allowed us to keep the upgraded hitch for no additional cost. Another plus is that this is a family-owned dealership, not part of the nationwide takeover by Camping World. Wouldn't consider purchasing anywhere else. read more

Warning...do not try to deal with a gentleman named Tarick Carver. He uses auto responses to emails, then when he finally does respond, he never answers all your questions you asked in your email, never follows up without being prompted and then when he does finally respond, he can't remember what he did write in a previous email response. Great at delaying...not good at responding...and terrible in remembering what he previously said ( How hard is it to re-read your own email before responding?). I will be glad to post my email thread so you can see just how awful, and obviously, un-supervised this sales representative is. In this case, you must assume the word representative represents General RV's philosophy on how they treat customers. It's no coincidence that there are so many 1 comments on YELP and that if 0 stars were a rating, this place would be below a 3 star rating. Buyers beware! read more

Amazing experience!!! After purchasing our Grand Design Imagine from Reines RV in Manassas, the dealership was sold to Camping World. They wouldn't return my calls requesting warranty work. Beckley's, in Maryland, will only service vehicles they sell directly to a consumer. I found General RV Center on the Grand Design web page, gave them a call, and had an appointment for the next day! Unheard of! We waited in their comfortable lounge with lots of free food and received constant updates from the staff. Everyone was pleasant, fun to talk to, and efficient. When Sue discovered that our warranty had just expired, she immediately phoned Grand Design and had some very serious brake work covered for FREE!!! We will now happily make the 140 mile round-trip drive for this amazing RV center. Excellent service and excellent employees! read more

Our RV needed servicing today, and while the repair was satisfactory, our RV rug was left dirty. It had just been cleaned, but the job was done with dirty shoes without protective booties for internal work. When I raised this concern with the service adviser, she simply acknowledged it without offering an apology. "The response I received regarding the complaint about my dirty rug after the service was disappointing. It wasn't just dust, which I could have simply vacuumed, but also grease that might not come off easily. The comment included was, 'This is not the level of attention to detail we strive for.' Based on our past experience, car dealers have always placed paper over the car floor when repairing it as a standard practice. Now, I have to deal with the issue caused by the service department." read more

Had a great experience here after having really awful experience at 2 closeby dealers. Really appreciated our salesperson and felt like most people there really liked working there (and liked camping as well). The walkthrough and inspection of our preowned trailer was very thorough and missed nothing. Also SUPER appreciated the snacks they had while you were waiting, as we have two little ones that never would have made it without them. Only "con" was that both times we were there (to buy and then for the walkthrough, etc) it took several hours and quite a bit of it was waiting, but for the most part it was for good reason, and they were quite busy. Brought my brand new motor home in for repair because tankless water heater didn't work on electric service advisor only worried about telling me if there is nothing wrong with it I'll have to pay for looking at it 102.00 dollars. Had been told by several people at the rv show in Hershey Pa. That the water heater worked on electric and propane. Service advis said it only works on propane and I had to pay for telling me it only worked on propane. Save yourself some trouble and aggravation and do not buy a motor home or get your service done at general rv take it or buy it somewhere else. Went to the one in Wayland Michigan. First watch out for the hidden fees. They charged us $1,250 dollars to inspect our new camper for defects, then they charged us $1,350 dollars for a bogus freight fee. Craig our salesman lied through his teeth about the value of our trade in. The service department gives you attitude if you have even the slightest complaint. I regret giving this scam dealership my business. Avoid General RV like the plague. read more

For anyone out there looking to get in touch with them but they won't answer, try the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board. Go to MVDB.Virginia.gov Click on consumers and then request for assistance if you want General RV to answer, they have to answer to them. Went to General RV to look at the different types of RV's and was pleased with the great selection. Jon Bonnett was a pleasure to work with and was very knowledgeable about the the product line. I was introduced to his manager who was also very nice. I'm still deciding on the class I want to own but thanks to Jon I'm sure I will be making my purchase with General RV. read more

General RV repair center is a joke!! Jackie is unprofessional and useless. Their techs break stuff and lie so they don't have to fix it and try to charge you for it. The extended warranty Cornerstone is a scam!! I do not recommend anyone to purchase anything from them unless you want ripped off!! I strongly recommend going somewhere else. read more
