I came in to buy my very first bike and had a great experience. They have plenty of parking and are located right on Broad St. Super easy to find. Roger greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and offered any assistance I needed. I'd done my research and was looking to get an entry level bike and Roger was able to answer all my questions. I love the design and simplicity of Honda bikes and ended up purchasing an orange Rebel 300. It was probably the easiest vehicle purchase I've ever made. No pressure, no problems. Bought and drove off. I had my spouse drive it home and he loved the ride! I've been riding it around the neighborhood and getting a feel for the friction zone all afternoon and I'm in love! I would never recommend Honda House to anyone. It was the worst service I have ever had. They gave me a quote for one number, and when I asked multiple times to confirm, they said it was final. I get to the store and suddenly there is a registration fee. Then, going through the bill together after I paid, it turns out I was charged that registration fee twice. When I pointed it out, they changed their answer and said it was a tax fee, which I had also already paid. On top of that, I told them four days in advance that I needed a fast pickup and asked them to have everything ready. They said, "No problem, we can do it in 15 minutes." I get there and it takes two hours, so I had to leave and come back. Horrible service. read more

Beware of their service department. Quick backstory. I got a flat front tire. Took it to the dealer for repair. Mind you, I only have less than 1300 miles on the bike. So I drop it off and an hour later the dealer calls and tells me that they need to order a new tire as it was damaged from riding on the flat. I went back to the shop to inspect the tire myself and the tire was in perfect condition. Also, I didn't ride while it was flat. I got the bikes towed to the shop. It just needed a tube. Basically I caught them in a lie. I played it cool and so did they, but I knew this dealer was a POS. A few days later they called saying my bike was ready. I go up there, crank it up and noticed the screen was black. Nothing showing up. Then I took another walk around the bike and noticed a ding on the gas tank. I've seen their garage and how they store them. They park them really close together and from the shape of the ding, you could tell that it was from a brake or clutch lever. At this point I'm pissed. They're apologetic and said that they were going to take care of everything. I could tell they were extremely unhappy that I called them out on their bs the first time and they had to do a bunch of work for no $. They end up ordering a brand new tank. It gets installed and a few weeks later I get the call to pick it up. All looks well. I drive it home and park it. My mother is sick with cancer so I wasn't able to ride for a few days. I ended up hopping on the bike for a quick ride to get some gas. I had 2 bars on the gauge. I got it filled up, crank up the bike and the gas gauge is still sitting at 2 bars. At this point I refuse to go back to this pos dealer and I'm hoping there's a simple DIY was to fix this issue. Just don't trust their service department. It what they tell you doesn't make sense, force them to explain the issue until it does. These people are pieces of human excrement. read more

Tried to get my 2013 Goldwing in to get engine work done but was told that they wouldn't work on since it was too old. They only work on machines that they can scan. I asked the contact on the phone, "So you just don't want to bother with older bikes?" and they said "Yes." I guess they aren't really mechanics after all. Honda House Richmond Ive been shopping and chatting with these guys for 10 years, always friendly, I unfortunatley bought my 2014 Fz09 at another dealership. Over the years I knew my next bike was going to be from them. Beacuse they have always been honest and upfront about everything. So, fast forward to this week, I told him I wanted to buy an Mt-10sp and that I wanted it to be from them. I put down a deposit, and expected to wait months before one would pop up. Roger immediatley went to work, they found one in Maryland, and the operations manager drove his truck there to get it. I had John look over condition and diagnostics . Everything checked out in the time he said it would.

I took my Honda generator to Honda House for service because even though it ran well it would surge when it was under a load for electricity. The generator was about 15 years old but in great condition and had only about 200 hours of service on the unit. I dropped the unit off and understood that there was a $145.00 diagnostic fee and they would call me with an estimate for repair. A week later I get a call saying that it needed a regulator and my bill would be around $675.00 when work was completed . I agree to the work....a week passes and I get a call expecting to hear " its ready...come and pick it up. However I was told that even though the regulator was bad it now needed another piece (stator) to fix the problem. The bill would now be over $1700.00 to fix my generator. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. Now if they had told me that the regulator might fix it but if not it was going to cost me an extra $1000.00 then the burden of the decision would have been on me whether to proceed or not. Had I been told that it was going to be $1700+ to fix the generator from the start I would have told them that I appreciated their time but I would pick up the unit and pay the $145.00. Now I have spent $600+ and the generator is still not fixed and not worth a $1.00 more than it was before I took it in. There response in so many words was "it sucks to be you". They also offered to sell me a new generator for my trouble. I understand that we do not live in a perfect world but I operated in good faith and did not get what I bargained for. How can you charge $145.00 to diagnosis a problem but then have no liability if you are wrong? I just feel that they did not care that I spent $500.00 for nothing. read more

I recently purchased a mesh riding jacket for summer, and was so pleased with the quality and price. Will never buy from them again. purchased a 2022 Honda Navi in February 2022. it was a lemon right from the get go. Hard starting, uneven idle and loss of power. All I got from the service department was a bunch of bull. Even though the bike was under warranty, they kept charging me for diagnostic time and called it "maintenance" charges. What a ripoff!. On one occasion, the shop foreman was supposed to deliver my bike to my house after they charged me over $300 for the same bullshit reason that it was maintenance charges, not warranty work. in any event, he never showed up and didn't even bother to call me that he wasn't coming. After this experience, i wanted nothing more to do with their service department or Honda House as a whole. This was the very worst experience with a vehicle dealership I have ever experienced. STAY AWAY!!! MOVE ON AND SAVE YOURSELF FROM WASTING TIME! Got my first bike from these guys in the 80's and did the same with my son. The service is getting worse and worse from the actually service department to the parts guy. Today has made me officially done with them. I called and they had the parts I needed so I asked that they hold them at the front since I had a long drive. Anyway, I get there. The incompetent parts guy provided me the completely wrong parts. Simply a front sprocket for a Honda dirt bike...isn't that what you specialize in??? Hondas? I go next door to Sprocketz and pick up some riding boots for my son. About $300.00 bucks later I walk out with the wrong parts for my bike and TWO LEFT FOOT boots?!?!?!?! How does that even happen...I'm awaiting a response from the store on how they would like to resolve this. I'll update the review if they call back. read more

For some reason, the key didn't work or something was wrong with their programming system. They gave me full a refund for the keys purchase. Next door to the dealership, they have a clothing store. This is where we, received excellent customer care service. My Husband bought me a helmet from here. And he purchased a a bike Communicator system from somewhere else.. These guys installed systems on both helmets. Half of the store had 50% off . Due to Memorial Day weekend sale and also they offer 20% off for military discount. Been going to Honda house for years, sales people are nice (as expected- they are trying to sell things), parts guys are pretty decent (knowledgeable, nice enough), service department is pure carp (very expensive, take way to long- several weeks for tires in the middle of winter?!, and the worst part is the service writers act like they are being bothered by customers). You can buy stuff anywhere, but don't expect anything else from these guys, especially the service department (that cannot be stressed enough). STAY AWAY!! BAD SERVICE!! RUDE STAFF!! DISHONEST TECHNICIANS!! I made an 9am appointment to get 2 new tires put on loose wheels. It should have been about 30 minutes worth of work. It turned into almost 2 hours. But that is not the worst of it. The staff is the worst of it. It started with the service writer, who felt no need to even offer to help me with the old tire and wheel assemblies, and the 2 new tires. He stood at his desk, as I struggled to keep the door open, while rolling the 2 wheel assemblies thru the door, and repeated the same routine with the 2 new tires. I should add upon leaving, Brian the other service writer was kind enough to open the large garage door, and assist me with the new tires back to my vehicle, and he wasn't even my service writer. Thanks Brian. When the technician(and I use that term loosely to describe my service person)rolled my newly mounted tires out to the service desk area, I wandered over to look at them. I noticed the tires had been balanced, but the balancing was done with the old weights left on. That was not correct. Upon further examination, I also noticed the "yellow dot" from Dunlop the tire manufacturer was not lined up with the valve stem as is correct tire mounting procedure. " When tires are made, they are almost never perfectly balanced. Most manufacturers will place a yellow dot on the section of the tire where there is least weight. The technician is then supposed to line up this yellow dot to where the valve stem is located. Where the valve stem is located is the heaviest point of the wheel". I new both of these issues would cause my very expensive tires to be out of balance, wear poorly, and possibly cause an unsafe situation. I called these improper balance issues to the attention of my service writer. He said that he knew what the yellow dots were, and agreed they were not aligned properly, but refused to "tell his technician how to do his job". I felt I had no recourse but to ask for the Service Manager(again I use this term loosely, as I doubt he knows what the word "service" means, and he does not deserve the professional title of "Manager"). The "Service Manager" proceeded to tell me there was nothing wrong with their work, and I was incorrect and unreasonable. I explained that my trip to their business today was a 3 hour round trip, I also explained that it took me 4 hours of labor to remove the 2 tires, and would take me 4 hours to put them back on. If he was wrong, and the improperly balanced tires caused a shaking, wear, or safety issue, I was going to have to repeat this exhausting procedure. I asked him if the clearly improperly balanced tires caused any issues, was he going to stand behind their work and repeat the work at no charge, including their shop doing all the labor I had. As it turns out, that is were his confidence in their work ended. He told the technician to redo the work. This time properly. He turned his back on me, and walked away with no explanation or apology for his rudeness and unprofessional conduct or the rudeness of his staff. He clearly DID-NOT-CARE. I waited another 45 minutes while the tires were remounted and re-balanced, this time correctly. Brian, the other service writer, then opened the main roll-up garage door, and helped me get my new tires to my vehicle. Kudos to Brian. The professionalism issues did not stop at the service department. As I sat in my vehicle, and mentally reviewed this experience, I decided the leadership at Honda House of Richmond needed to know this was the level of professionalism in their service department. I went into the showroom, was greeted by a friendly salesperson, who I asked if I could speak to the owner or General Manager. He advised "Tim" was the General Manager, and he would try to find him. He returned to say he could not find him, perhaps he was in a meeting. My " gut" told me he was trying to be a "gatekeeper" for his boss, and deflect my interrupting the General Manager's morning routine. He offered to have the General Manager call me, but I explained that I had driven 3 hours round trip to come to Honda House of Richmond, and I really felt my issue needed a face to face conversation. He very nicely said he would look for "Tim" the General Manager again. Success. Tim finally appears and introduces himself with a clearly noted level of annoyance. I ignore the "attitude" I am sensing, and ask if there is a quiet, private place we can sit down and talk. Tim seems reluctant, but leads me into a salesman's office close by. Although seemingly preoccupied, Tim listens to my story and apologies for the treatment I received by his staff. He offers "to make it up to me", but I told him this issues was not about money. I DID NOT ASK TO SPEAK TO HIM TO GET A REFUND. The leadership and professional issues at Honda House of Richmond to me clearly start at the top of this location's staff. Tim did his job, listened, but with noted indifference. Save your $$. read more

I am extremely happy with my purchase of a 2016 Honda CTX700D. The salesman, Roger was a big help in showing me the good points and not so good points in different types of motorcycles. I have not driven a motorcycle for about twenty years, and with Roger's help I picked a wonderful machine. I was not sure about an automatic transmission on a bike, but I really like it. The purchase price Roger gave me for the CTX700D bike was well over a thousand dollars less than the same bike at Commonwealth Motor Sports in Prince George. The options I ordered were installed at the stated price and the bike was ready for pickup at the time we set up. They were also very helpful with the accessories I purchased at the building next to their shop. The sales person helped us choose a helmet for my better half and I purchased a set of side saddles. Bought two helmets from the shop next door to their maintenance garage. When I was leaving I realized, to my horror, I had picked up a nail and was losing rear tire pressure in a hurry. I ran inside to ask if there was anything they could do to help. They originally told me I could leave it over night, but being that I live in DC and would be stranded, I asked if I could pay extra to just have them put on a new tire. The gentleman told me to go make sure the parts dept had the tire I would need and he would go ask the service manager. Sure enough, parts had a tire that I was going to purchase that would work, at least to get me home. Upon returning to the service garage with my tire, I was told they in fact couldn't do it that day. Or the next day. That in fact to change a tire would be, quote "Several Weeks". Admittedly, I'm not a customer of theirs, though I did spend $350 on helmets and was about to spend another $150 on a tire from them, not to mention any exorbitant fees and maintenance they were going to charge me to do it that day/next day. But to tell me it's going to take SEVERAL WEEKS to CHANGE A TIRE?! I'm not sure if they just didn't like me, or didn't like that I didn't buy from them, or just didn't like helping people, something just didn't sit right. I won't say steer clear, as the other reviews here seem to show a well run business, but I had to share this story. Karma always comes around. (Against my own rule, and only because I had no other option, I patched the tire myself at an Advance Auto down the street and cautiously made it home safe.) read more

Specific to the Parts department: I came here to get a relatively uncommon product, the No-Toil Air Filter Oil kit. Runs about 20 bucks on the internet, plus shipping. Unobtainable elsewhere. Not only did they have it, but they had two different versions, for below internet price. A pleasant surprise from a dealer! I bought an old bike sans keys, and came in to get a key cut for the ignition I pulled off of it. Less than 5 minutes in and out, the key was 10 and a half bucks after tax, and it works like a charm. Staff is knowledgeable and pleasant, without being super-richmond-chatty. Good guys. If all Honda dealers could be like this, the world would be a better place. read more

My review today was prompted by the service I received over the last week, but my issues with Honda House go way back. First, today's issues. I have been in search of Yamalube 2W for about a month now. Over the course of this month, I searched high and low, to no avail. I needed the oil for this weekend, so despite my dislike for Honda House, I decided I would give them another try. Six times, over three days I called them. Each time, I was transferred to the "parts" department, where I'd remain on hold for 15 - 20 mins, then hang I'd hang up. Today, before the gentleman transferred me, I said, "you know, I've called about 6 times, and they never pick up," to which he responded, "yea, they're pretty busy." Too busy that is to need more customers. Finally, I ended up just going in, and they did have my product. I purchased it, and the cashier was rude. I mentioned the number of times I called, and he said, yea, we're pretty busy, we don't really answer the phone..... frustrating. Rewind around 6 months. My girlfriend and I are searching for a motorcycle helmet for her. We stop by Honda House. Other customers are asked if they need assistance, but not us. After being ignored for about 10 mins, I finally ask one of the four employees standing around talking for help. No responses from any. I am told the helmets are "over there." Yes, I know where they are, I can see them, but which one fits her? I came here for help. Had I wanted to go see them over there, I could have ordered one online. Rewind another year. I come to Honda House to have a tire changed on my motorcycle. What do you know, they won't install my tire, as it wasn't purchased from them. Fine - can I buy a tire from you? Oh no they say, we don't have those tires in stock. Can you order the tire? Oh no - uh, we don't, yea, um yea. It's too bad they're in a great location, and have a solid amount of stock, and everything you need - because the staff simply sucks. From now on, I'll plan farther ahead, and order my products online. I'll pay a few dollars more, but I'll likely avoid the frustration of dealing with Honda House. I paid cash (meaning there isn't as much profit as if I were to finance) but they still treated me with great customer service. All of my questions were answered and not once did they make me feel like I was bothering them. I've bought accessories as well and the parts department is top notch as well. Their prices are very fair and are competitive with what you can buy online for. For example, I was able to get a factory upgraded seat for my new bike from them for less than any seller on eBay (brand- new, not used) and got it in less time. Over the next two hours, they sent photos via text and we were able to work with their sales team to narrow down our choice by 3pm. By 4pm we were on the road with the perfect jet ski to fit our needs. The whole time the Richmond Honda House was patient and helpful as we compared and contrasted models and gave us an incredible price. They also serviced my trailer at no cost. Tried to work through these folks even though they are 30 minutes away from us. Ordered two parts for my weed wacker, paid for them in advance. They called to let me know they were in so I dropped by this afternoon. One of the boxes was very light and upon inspection, it was empty...a first for me. Oh well, re-order and wait another 6 days for delivery. No possible way they could expedite nor could they drop ship, so another 30 minute drive both ways. I requested a refund which they did but no apology for the inconvenience, no offer to make it right. When I let them know that from a customer's perspective this was not right, the parts manager said, and I quote, "why should we apologize, it was lost in shipment. It's not our fault. From there he became more snarky so I called him a name that, although accurate, was inflammatory. He became more snarky to the point where it was uncomfortable to stay so...never again. 2 Honda motorcycles, a few Honda lawn items, etc. What a disaster of a business. read more

So I took my Honda propelled mower in for service back in January 2019 it took approximately 2 weeks for them to: Sharpen blades and fix an issue with loss of power. 45 days later the mower surges constantly and the lack of power is still an issue. Also there is only fast which is not fast at all. When you go to the turtle mode the mower shuts off completely!!!!!! Not happy at all. Service was closed after I finished mowing there yard today so they will have to wait until the morning for me to voice my complaint!!! This is the second time I've taken the mower to them in 2 years and they do not do a good job! read more

JRE kept my mower for a month & then told me they don't stock Honda parts. I said the hell with that & took the mower to Honda House on W. Broad St. My mower was repaired in a week & unlike JRE, they really acted like they wanted my business...the service mgr here was a very friendly fellow that quoted & did exactly what he said they would do and...on time. read more
