Definitely been awhile but it was worth the wait I suppose. Tables were crammed too close together the staff could barely get thru with food and drinks. The place was very crowded. We ordered our drinks which came quick. An appetizer and our food also came out relatively quick. What can I say simple bar menu basics. My friend ordered a pizza and I ordered a burger. Pizza was thin crust and well done, I actually had a slice not bad but jusy reminded me of a better version of frozen pizza. The burger was a decent size, nice roll and well done steak fries which were really good. The burger was over salted, too much seasoned salt. Other than that not too bad. We also had broccoli bites which were quite delicious. Chunks of broccoli and cheese. I would order them again. Nice crowd. Alot of families surprisingly and large groups. I would definitely come back here to try other things on their menu out of curiosity. Not a bad place to hang out with friends. The bar itself was quite large and roomy. Git your boots on and mosey over to this spot! The food is well prepared and very tasty! Missy, our server, was quite attentive and very friendly. The overall appearance of this establishment is good, however, the tables are a little on the large size, so it makes for some overcrowding. I was reading the reviews before we went and I was a little taken back by the complaints about the food not tasting well. "tasted like it was made from frozen food". Let me tell you this was not the case. We had appetizers and an entree each and it was great! The Cajun steak bites were delicious and cooked perfectly. I also got the fish and chips. But my girl got a saloon burger and it was also cooked perfectly!! The drinks were original and delicious! I had the "Spiked Palmer" which was lemonade and ice tea with Vodka. Awesome! There are a ton of tv's and the bar was big. I would recommend this spot for a good burger and a beer. read more

This is sort of a locals bar. So everyone knows everyone and you can strike up a conversation with just about anybody. There are enough TV's to go around and a decent amount of seats. It does fill up pretty fast when there's a sporting event on so get there a bit early if you want to watch a game. The food is good, not taste-bud spectacular, but good enough. I will say the buffalo wings are NOT spicy/ hot at all so steer clear if that's what you're looking for. The staff is friendly and are attentive as well. read more

My second time ever at the General Saloon. My first visit was fantastic. Great service, great food, very friendly server. Even met the owner Mike, great guy ! Today, my second visit ever, sucked !! Sat at the bar. A thin blond girl pushed a menu at me in my direction. I quickly decided on what to order. I then sat at the bar for exactly 15 minutes until i got tired of watching her play with her phone and talk to a fellow customer at the bar. The bar was empty yet she was too busy to take my order. I never touched my soda yet I still left cash to pay for it. Then, this female bartender was arrogant & condescending when I voiced my displeasure. This experience was so bad, it ruined any chance of a third visit. Terrible rude & slow service, for no reason at all, is inexcusable. If I was the owner and read this review, I would immediately terminate this rotten bartender. She will be the only reason why I would never return and spend my money. It's so hard to get new customers in this economy. Sarcastic, pissed off bartenders who want to play with their phone and ignore taking an order, are easy to replace. The other day I was there and we were served by a girl named Alice, and the whole experience was horrible. Not only did she take forever to bring me my drink, but my drink was made wrong (BOTH times) and she was so rude to me the whole time, only caring about certain tables if she knew the people. Went here last night for dinner, figured we try a place we hadn't been to before. Place was pretty empty. Took a few minutes before waitress came over to take drink orders. Had the jumbo pretzel for appetizer and it was ok. Enough for three people, probably four. My daughter ordered the boneless wings for dinner and a side of fries, they came out before mine and my boyfriends food. Thought that was strange, while yes it was an appetizer, she ordered for dinner. And fries came out a little after her chicken. It was one server bringIng out one item at a time. Odd. I had pulled pork sandwich, which was good but could have had more flavor and actually been shredded and not have hunks of pork which was difficult to eat. Ordered tater tots, my fav but very bland. Boyfriend had the chicken francese which was bland and he bbt into a crunchy part of chicken, eww. Found it to be expensive. Definitely won't be back read more

The best burger! I love it here. We moved to Old Bridge 2 years ago. I ordered from Uber and it arrived hot and delicious. I was so impressed I will order again. My husband got the chicken cheesesteak and also enjoyed it. I will def be stopping in and I def will order again. read more

I've been coming to the general saloon for a few years now since it opened. I used to do trivia here before they stopped doing it, but it's a nice addition to the area in Englishtown for a drink or a good burger. The burgers and chicken sandwiches here are fantastic as well as a few other items on the menu. The bar stools here have seen better days, lot of wear and tear in the seats. Also the thin crust pizza I've had here is usually very good, but when I had it here tonight the toppings were underneath the cheese instead of on top so it was kind of hard to taste what I was eating under it, and also the slices were really uneven (some were larger than others) The other issue I have with this restaurant is the service. The waiters seem a little inexperienced, and a lot of tables I saw got incorrect orders. It also took a little long for our food to come out. So in general, some of the food here is really good and with a little more attention to some of these details, I would definitely come back more often. read more

I've been to this bar a couple of times during the day. It is the reincarnation of Race Zone, a true dive with great pizza that closed about a year ago. The place looks entirely different now. Another review said there's a rougher crowd there. That may well be true at night (haven't been there yet at that time) but there were kids there during the day when I was there and it seems like a fine place to bring them. The menu has been somewhat streamlined and is a bit generic, and I think more expensive than Race Zone was. Thankfully, the pizza is still very good---perhaps the one thing they haven't changed. read more

If you dont mind rubbing elbows with some rough looking NASCAR type then you will enjoy this place. Bar was packed when I went on Sunday yet the service was great. ( young blonde girl Jamie or Jessica was here name) was very friendly and quick behind the bar. Its not much of a sit down restaurant. The focus seems to be the bar which is fine for me. They're not going to win any culinary awards but this is my favorite new place for drinking beer and eating bar fare. The place is newly renovated so clean and modern. They have lots of flat screen hdtv's so a good place to catch the game (not to mention car racing if that's your thing). Prices are reasonable. Bartenders and servers have all been great. And the best part is that the food is way above average compared to other places serving similar fare. My only complaint is the air dryer in the bathroom. They don't blow hard enough. I always wind up having to dry my hands with paper napkins or on my pants. read more

I originally gave this place 3 stars, which was totally unfair. It's nice inside, it's clean, great specials, reasonable prices, and good pub food. I tried the bar pies again, and they really are damn good. Very thin crust, but very tasty. The service on both my visits has been spot on - very friendly and attentive. Nice place to hang out and get a drink after work on a Friday. If you come later at night it's quite the mix of people. Pretty chill place and not that bad but recently went and there were some really trashed people there who were extremely rude. Honestly felt like the bartenders should have stopped serving them but they continued to take shots. Food is eh. You have to really get the true bar food here...nothing fancy. Do not get the spinach artichoke dip. Not the place for it. The pizza and/or wings is the way to go. Later at night when it's crowded too the parking kind of sucks but there is a side street you can park on. Good place to go if you want to just grab some drinks and chill but don't expect much! read more

The food here is nothing special and I really think shortening up their menu and focusing on quality could really make a huge difference. Apart from food though, the service here is what steals the show with how inattentive and unfriendly the bartending/waiting staff is. I could totally understand if the place was busy on a Friday night and you were hustling to take care of everyone, but in the couple of times I've been here this definitely wasn't the case and I've walked away disappointed every time. Nothing fancy about this place but their pizza is amazing. It's perfect thin crust. The cheesesteak egg rolls are a must try. Burgers and sandwiches are solid as well. Staff is usually nice and attentive. It can be a bit loud because of the jukebox but not overbearing. They host bands on the weekends too. Horrible service had me waiting 30 minutes for some mid chicken fingers and fries. Then without asking anyone added a 20% tip.

Live bands are nice. Bar food is not wonderful, but the drinks are good. It could up the quality of the food if it wants to market itself as a family place by day and a bar at night, or decide which it wants to be. My review is as a bar with live music. In that sense, it's nice. Hate the chairs. They are uncomfortable but functional . Owner seems to pander, ( the three times I was there) to regulars and local off duty cops which is a turn off, but if you want a drink and to hear live music, it's pretty good. read more

Was there today and ordered a steak which was completely frozen and raw burnt on the outside and I ordered medium salads came out with huge chunks of tomato and cucumber no real taste to be fair The mini tacos Came out and one of them have a piece of plastic film on the inside was just really sickening read more
