Absolutely pathetic. We entered and the waiter (an older white man) was cashing out a guest and we figured he'd get to us next to seat us. Another person got in line to cash out and we said well maybe we will be next. THEN ANOTHER guest got in line to cash out and he handled her. All while we are waiting to be seated. Clearly he had no intention on even trying to provide decent customer service because he didn't say one word to us.. I gladly walked out and also let him know we were waiting to be seated BEFORE all 3 of them got in line to be cashed out. Absolutely sad. I'd rather not give them my money any ways. I'd leave 0 stars for pathetic customer service but it's making me put at least 1. If you like bad customer service, this is the place for you! read more

This was one of my favorite places at OCMD to go for breakfast. I enjoy the atmosphere because the place is a sponsor of the 911 stair memorial. Everyone are friendly and the service is fast. If I could give zero stars I would. My mother in law looked forward to eating here all weekend. We got here this morning and was actually refused service. We had a party of 11. The man who greeted us laughed and said there was no way. We said we could be seated separately. He started complaining about all the work he would have to do with moving or cleaning tables. We were told we should go somewhere else. Then my sister in law in disbelief walked in and asked what was going on. The man called us liars and said he never said that. I work in the restaurant industry and would never refuse a family a seat. We weren't asking to be seated instantly and understood from the beginning we would be spread out. Which was ok. But to refuse us and then deny doing it. I will never eat here. This place definitely needs to work on their customer service. Jimmys kitchen greeted us almost instantly and we had amazing breakfast. Jimmys serves the best chipped beef around. I don't know why my mother in law wanted to go to this place. read more

I'm not sure but maybe my waitress was the daughter of the General. It really disappointed my family of 5. I had french toast that tasted like cake. Not really french toast :(. My daughter had pancakes. YUK. Please, pancakes are so hard to mess up. I think if they used a recipe that had eggs and milk in them they would be edible. My daughter is 13 and loves pancakes. Believe me she knows her pancakes. What really angered us was we told the waitress she didnt care for them and the waitress said "no one has ever complained about the pancakes." HMMMM. I don't think you should say that to a customer. That was the only thing we complained about, even though our meals weren't great. But we all left and agreed that we wouldn't go back. read more

It has been a while since I've had such an awful dining experience. Let me start by saying this is by all accounts a three-star restaurant: The food is fine. The prices are fine. The look and feel of the place are fine. But the quality of service is what ultimately makes a "three-star" a "one-star". My friends and I showed up at the restaurant for breakfast around 10:30 and sat down. One of my friends asked our waitress for an order of French Fries, an admittedly unorthodox request given the time of day. General's doesn't serve lunch items until 11 a.m.--my friend didn't notice this proviso on the menu, an understandable mistake. However, the waitress brusquely responded "Are you kidding me!" and didn't say anything more. When it was my time to order, I hesitantly asked for the tuna melt. I wasn't sure if it was on the lunch menu--the menu itself doesn't clearly depict which items are or are not for lunch. She cut me off, simply exclaiming, "No, dude!" She then angrily re-iterated the no-lunch-items-before-11 rule. In addition to these these bizarre and unprofessional outbursts, she only checked on our table once and never even offered to refill our drinks. Instead of handing us our napkins, she haphazardly threw them on the table. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. This had never happened to me. I can accept our orders were a little annoying, but is it so hard for someone to say, "I'm sorry; we don't serve these items until 11"? If I had to take a guess, the waitress saw a table of modestly dressed 20-somethings and assumed she could treat us like unruly children. And it's a shame General's Kitchen seems to have led her to believe that's an acceptable way to treat customers. Honestly, if you're on 67th Street and you absolutely have to eat out for breakfast, there's a Dough-Roller in the same general area. I can't in good conscious recommend this restaurant, especially if you're a millennial. read more

We have come here for breakfast on numerous occasions and the food is average and it draws a local crowd. My husband got a ham and cheese omelette which he described as good, and the hash browns very good and crispy. I got a scrambled egg which was a bit rubbery and grits which were good. Food was served medium warm. Coffee not high quality like one gets in coffee shops. Need to step up their game in this area. Service fine but not allowed to substitute oatmeal for grits. Went for a Saturday morning breakfast about 10am. There was a short wait, less than 10 minutes for our party of 6. It being July 4th weekend, not bad at all. After sitting, it was another 10 or so minutes before we got our drinks and were able to order food, but the food came out very quickly and was delicious as always. My scrambled eggs were a bit over cooked, but not bad, the cream chipped beef was great, and the kids' silver dollar pancake orders were huge, 10 cakes a piece. Came here on a recommendation from the hotel I stayed at. Lets just say that the grits turkey bacon eggs toast and French toast that I had was good and on point. I recommend this place for breakfast if you ever go to ocean city. My whole meal was less then 10 bucks. I joked with some of the friends at the hotel, that went other places and didn't get what I got. Customer service was awesome. My meal was out before I new it and was good. There was nothing special about this place. Although the place was near empty, they sat people practically on top of each other. The breakfast we had was nothing at all out of the very ordinary. I asked for my eggs over very, very easy, and they came out a little hard. Sausages tasted a little off, so we saved them for the dogs. Grits were unremarkable. Cute little gem right on 67th! We walked over for breakfast and ordered eggs, bacon and hash browns. Excellent service and the food came out ridiculously fast which was awesome so that we could get to the beach! It's got a local vibe with police/veteran gear everywhere. Will never be back here. It was pouring outside due to the tropical storm and manager made 12 people stand in a small entrance. There was plenty of room to stand inside the dining area. My wife explained that she can't stand.there because she get claustrophobic and he didn't care. This place is lucky I didn't call the fire Marshall for over capacity and blocking the exit. When we arrived with our 11 month old daughter we were told there would be a 20 minuite wait despite a dozen open tables. We were advised they could not give us a 4 patron table for two adults and a high chair. We would need to wait until a two patron table was available. I consider this discrimination and the Generals Kitchen has lost my future buisiness. We stay near by a few times a year but will never return. read more
