Genghis is definitely a to go place if you ever in need of a good meal with a mix of proteins and spices and veggies. You choose your proteins and veggies and spices and sauces. Then they cook it for you. You have an option of rice or noodles for the side. You can also add egg to your rice as well: limited alcoholic beverages in this establishment. During the day they have limited waiters and only one was there and attending all 6 tables and thus it was a bit slower service than expected. The lightening they keep it dim and darker than most restaurants. The restrooms need some serious renovations and majority of the time one of the restrooms in the female stalls is broken and the other has a huge gap that is often covered with a paper strap. However, the food is very well flavored and evenly cooker but the last two times we have gotten food poisoning from both times. :( read more

This was surprisingly a good experience. My impression of Mongolian grill is pretty greasy and this wasn't like that. Very nice selection of ingredients, especially protein and the sauces. The only reason it's 4 star is because it's not AYCE, which typically Mongolian grills are. Kind of pricey for just one bowl. The service was good, and it was a nice atmosphere as well. read more

We went for lunch yesterday for the first time and we were sadly disappointed. there were only six people in the restaurant and we waited over ten minutes for a server. We ordered the small bowl and it was so small that my husband commented that our dogs water bowl was larger! We left our bowl at the grill and I returned a few minutes later to watch the chef cook our orders on the huge Circular grill. The chef looked up at me and very rudely and loud stated "What, you got a problem!?" I replied no, just wanted to watch, why it that a problem? Went back to our table and ask the server to speak to the manager. talked to the manager and he was apologetic and he would speak to the chef. I told the manager that this was . our first time at the restaurant and it was not a very good first impression, The food was okay, but way overpriced for a lunch. we will not be going back anytime soon, nor will we recommend the restaurant to anyone. So I used to eat lunch here a lot as work was near by. Never eaten here on the weekends, so this was my first time. Price of my bowl was about $16 which was more expensive than I recalled, but inflation has been crazy as of late. Service was adequate and food came our fast, but I was the only person in the restaurant. The server recalled my order incorrectly about eggs and thankfully he asked prior as I didn't want eggs. Covid has charged things as they have gloves and sanitizer for customers. Funny thing a woman was a bit put off that she had to wear a mask to come into the restaurant. She said something in as folks do in Albuquerque, but she relented and got a mask from her car. The rating is more like 3.5 stars. Good food, but you're the one picking the ingredients. read more

Mongolian Grill. Food was over cooked, they only allow you to go up to the build bar 1 time, and they give you the smallest bowl. The sauce bar was very small. No lemon juice, no lime juice, no sherry, no soy sauce... there's a lot missing. Every sauce available is thick like ketchup. The rice base portion was so small all I ate was my bar portion and maybe 3/4cup of rice. I had to make it last my forming a fence of tall crab meat along the edge of my bowl, draping the chicken and other meats over the edge of the bowl to make the bowl a little larger. Very disappointed. I haven't been here since 2019 and it has really gone downhill. The food wasn't near as good as it used to be, and of course with inflation the prices have gone up. I had a small bowl with steak as my protein and lots of veggies and white rice, and the price was $13.95. I left there hungry because it wasn't filling enough. They no longer have edamame as an appetizer which me and my sister always enjoyed, and they used to have crunchy chow mein noodles to put on top of your bowl but they said they only offer that now if you get a teriyaki bowl. Our server Melissa wasn't very attentive never came back and asked to refill our waters. Nothing special about the ambience, but they do have a small bar. I don't plan on ever going back. . We only went in because of the free bowl. First time going for me. My bf has gone multiple times. I tried one of their Chef bowls with an egg roll. I am 7 months pregnant and the food poisoning I ended up with. Horrible. We were traveling and didn't stop for lunch so we had an early dinner. Bf has a stomach of steel but was in the bathroom at the hotel and it was bad. Then I started to feel horrible. I would not go. Idk what it is... I didn't want to try because someone else had food poisoning but he vouched for them. The food isn't the issue here at all, it's great, but the service on the other hand is absurdly bad. First off, their hours of operation are unlike any restaurant I've ever seen and just plain moronic. They say they're open until 9pm, for instance, but if you go there anywhere close to 8pm, guess what? They tell you "...sorry, to go orders only". If that wasn't enough, the restaurant will be 3/4 empty and they'll tell you there's a thirty minute wait. Thirty minutes!!! We get every business in the friggin country has gone downhill since COVID, but the stupidity with which this place is managed is really, really unique and sad. The food is actually really good if they can just have any semblance of decent management. What a shame! I honestly don't blame the staff. I used to love coming to this restaurant so much that we would even have our birthday celebrations here. That was 10 years ago. The last few times I've gone in recently I've noticed a huge decline on cleanliness. The tables were sticky. Things are in disarray. Definitely need stronger leadership, and a complete deep cleaning and maintaining of cleanliness. Used to come here all the time when I worked next door! This used to be one of my favorite lunch spots in the area because it was SO delicious and I could pick whatever I wanted: We haven't been since before COVID, and I'm more than understanding when it comes to understaffing issues and long wait times, especially since people are getting used to dining in again. However, I was not impressed by the food or the service this time around. I'll start by saying.. upon entry we were SLAPPED with an intense restroom cleaner smell from the set of restrooms right by the door. Makes you wonder wtf the bathrooms have seen.. We started by ordering some beers. The waitress asked if we've ever been here before, we said yes and immediately she jumped in to "so what starches do you want?" And we were so confused. So we took some time to think (anxiety am I right?), decided on a CYO Bowl. Now keep in mind we were used to going to make our bowl, and then letting the cook know what noodles we wanted/allergies etc. at the end of the line. NOW you order the noodles, go make your bowl, and are not asked about allergies at all (big red flag to my fellow folks allergic to everything, but I didn't die or whatever...so that's a plus......right?) So our waitress comes back and asks for our noodles and sizes and sashays away for another 15 minutes and returns with our metal bowls. My mans and I rushed over to fill up our bowls with meat and veggies. When I tell you Salmonella seems to be quite the risk here.. the tongs for the chicken bucket was covered in raw chicken bits up to the handle where you (and many others) place your hands. It was laid out across the beef steak, dripping chicken pieces in there as well. All the tongs in the meat area were haphazardly placed near and on top of other foods on the hand contact side of the tongs.. and another nearby meat product seemed to find its way into various buckets..pretty unsanitary given all the various raw meats, fish, and poultry product. I also noticed a bit of a fishy smell.. I know there are some shrimp/imitation crab etc. but it simply smelled... off. Moving onwards, I think it's awesome they switched from spoons to shakers for the spices and salts. Really love that! The vegetable area was about the same as the meat area, sprouts in the broccoli, onions in the peppers, and vegetables laid out across the counter due to spillage from patrons past. The sauce area was FILTHY. CHECK YOUR CUPS. The girl across the counter placed new metal sauce cups out for us, 8 between my man and myself were covered in.... Stuff? Residue? GROSS GROSS GROSS. We delivered our trays and bowls of stuff and things to the chef, and didn't even get a "hey, hi, fuck you" anything. The nuts, rice noodles, and other crunchy stuff was practically empty and spread out in various crumbs all over the chef station. We slowly wandered back over to our table and realized we still don't have our beers? It's been at least 20 minutes now and the guy at the bar was chillin' on his phone the entire time we were making our bowls. Finally we were graced with beer and bowls some time later.. and I was so happy with the taste, but the meat I picked was actually lost in everything else. It's like charred little pieces of protein, unidentifiable unless one is being paid to locate them in the tangle of noodles and veggies. Plus the steak looks good at the CYOB station, but it's cartilage-y and rough. There's hard bits in there..Not too happy about packing the entire bowl full of meat and having small, tasteless rocks chillin' in my food. I did also want to add that I was horribly sick in the stomach 1.5 days after eating here. Painful stomach cramps and I'll leave out the details of the rest. I will say that the quality, cleanliness, and service has gone down since I last visited. It's mind boggling to me that after a worldwide pandemic we're having cleanliness and food safety issues. I'm hoping so much that this place picks up the slack and becomes the old Ghengis I used to know and love. read more

My wife and I only went there once a couple of years ago. We enjoyed Mongolian Barbecue when we lived in a large metropolitan area. When I got my meal it didn't have rice noodles as I ordered, it had udon noodles. I was told they were out of rice noodles so a substitution was made without asking me. Had I been asked I would not have chosen udon noodles. Rather than go through the hassle of making a new lunch and waiting for it, I ate it. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. ABQ is not a great town for Chinese food. That said, GG is on the low end of a great cuisine. It's not that the food is low quality; it's fine. But the bowls are small, and pretty expensive for what you get. I'm not a fan of balancing raw food on the skinny edges of a pricey bowl to add a little value. Worst of all the food is dry, when Chinese food is supposed to be saucy. I took a box home, full of noodles and lumps of dry meat, mostly, and it was practically inedible by the time I got home. The food bar doesn't have vegetables you'd associate with Chinese food like bok choy. No hoisin sauce, and no garlic. The cook prepares multiple meals at once, as many as 10 or 12, so meals are mass produced. I gave it two stars because GG is okay if you're on a diet. edited to add: No fortune cookies (which feels kinda stingy when a meal for two plus drinks will put you back around forty bucks). read more

My family and I walked in at 8:08pm to eat. We were told only take out was available. The restaurant did not close until 9pm. There were other patrons still eating inside the restaurant. We felt that we were told this because the staff did not want to serve us, or take the time to wait on anyone else in the dining room. I hope the owner of this restaurant knows how the staff are running it. If your open until 9:00pm, why can't you serve people until then? read more

I give this location 4 stars vs. the other ABQ loctation that I gave 2 stars. I have been to this location many times, and it has always been good! The one bummer about it is the shrimp are those tiny little shrimp that they do not de-vain. If they had good quality shrimp that were properly cleaned i would give 5 stars no question. read more

Want to do it a bit yourself, stack your bowl with as much as you can, hoping it all goes well together; then add the variety of sauces....again hoping it will flow together taste wise - this just might be the place for you to start. Missing was a menu of sauces that would have been helpful to get the 'right' amounts of each to get closer to the taste you might be looking for. They responded "9pm." I quickly hung up the phone and ran in to get me a bite. However, I walk in the restaurant at 8:03pm to which they reply "to go only." There's people in the restaurant dining in by the way. I mean, they couldn't even tell me this over the phone??? EVEN WORSE, what restaurant is only open till 8 for dine in and to go only after? If you must, just close at 8 so people aren't stuck outside like me. + the workers here all look like they don't want to be here and sometimes can be quite rude. Why I have never ventured to this protein veggie destination is beyond my understanding! Stopped in for a quick lunch with my husband. Since we had never been there before, the waitress walked us through the process of picking our protein and veggies, filling up our bowls and selecting a sauce. The food was so fresh and delicious! I had pork, steak, and chicken in my bowl with a bunch of hand selected veggies. The peanut sauce was delicious. I felt satisfied when I left, but not in a heavy kind of way. I haven't been here in years but i don't think i will be back. Our food was sooo charred...especially the meat! It had this burnt taste and hardly any sauce. My friend asked for a re-do and i just ate mine but the meat was very burnt and hard ...not at all flavorful and juicy! The manager was very accommodating and so was the waitress but I am not sure how that place is sooo busy if they are burning the food. He slammed on the table and a mess of broken glass, water, and food went flying everywhere and the police were called). Join the Khan club were you can get a free little bowl of ice cream or an appetizer (the edamame is actually pretty good- crunchy and seasoned). Colorful drinks and fun to watch them cook your order on the grill. Everything can be customized to your liking. Unfortunately, the system has changed a lot where you now have to pay more for 3 different sized bowls compared to the lower price for the one bowl. There used to be plenty leftover for at least 1 1/2 meals and maybe now not so much with the small... make sure you pack your bowl for full benefit ;) read more

I had to not think about how dirty the floors, tables ....messy food bar....just not good in any fashion except I had a sweet waitress. I like this place to eat at. The food is good and they do take care of you. However, today I was disappointed by their birthday special. This month is my birthday month. Several months ago I signed up for their birthday club/special/whatever so that when it is the month of your birthday, you get a free bowl, dessert, or something. I went there fully expecting to be able to use it, but when we went to cash in on it, we were denied. Turns our that you have to visit there 4 separate times and then you can claim your birthday treat in your birthday month. Honestly, I didn't read that in the fine print, so that's on me. However, even so this place is so far from our house that we tend to only go there occasionally. Between my wife and myself we're not likely to visit it 8 times in a year. The food is good, its great to be able to select what you want to put into a bowl. But their birthday specials aren't so special. read more
