Still a solid place to get dim sum! Ofc nothing beats the Bay Area but this is a decent spot. We order: pork spareribs in black bean sauce 4/5: the flavor was good but the pork had little slivers of bone. must be the way it was cut so be careful! beef rolled noodles 2/5: maybe it was just me but i prefer the meat to be ground up beef (not hamburger) but this beef was weirdly chopped or cooked. didn't really like it. chinese donut rolled noodle 5/5: this was done well. not bad with the plum sauce but a peanut butter sauce would be so much better! soy sauce noodles 4/5: ordered this for our cutie patootie grandson. he loves the noodles! simple chinese noodle dish done well with good balance of salty sweet. beef chow fun dry 3/5: the noodles tasted a little old today but the flavor was good. had a nice "wok hay" but again too bad the noodles didn't seem fresh today. lotus wrapped sticky rice 2/5: the sticky rice was good but the wrapper had a funny smell so we sent it back. The wait staff was nice to give us another one cuz we sent it back, but it came back again with the same smell so we were worried but it tasted fine and we didn't get sick hahahaha. Wouldn't order it again tho because of the smell. steam chicken feet 5/5: nicely steamed with a spicy kick. steamed egg yolk bun 4/5: this is the main reason we come here! love the topping on the bun and the flavors of the steamed egg yolk. Normally it's a bit runnier which would make it a 5 but it was a bit oversteamed today. IT Dim Sum is a great choice if you're craving dim sum in the ABQ area. I was feeling this place take as I hadn't been here in quite a while. I walked in. It was pretty empty with no customers, but it is Easter so makes sense.. The staff was polite and inviting.. I ordered some things I've had before and it ordered some new things and I have to say it was really good. Sesame balls, potstickers trip balls, mushrooms, sashimi we also got a beef and broccoli combo plate which came with rice and an egg roll.. the eggroll was sitting on the rice, so it got a little bit, soggy at one side, but it was still pretty good. i've gotten a pork porridge, which was good and had a lot of rice in it. There is another soup that came with the combo plate and I don't know what kind it was. It looked like egg drop, but it wasn't egg drop soup, but really super good. This restaurant was a super fun experience! So many types of food to try and enough to share for a table (party of four for our dinner). We had so many things but my favorite were the sticky rice in lotus leaf, salt and paper shrimp, and the baked egg tart. My girlfriend liked the daikon cake. First time. Hard, uncomfortable chairs, but the facility is kept very clean, and the service is quick and attentive. Ordered three items off the dim sum menu - one small, one medium, and one large. I liked being able to circle them on the menu, and my table allowed for a view of Sandia. The seaweed salad was a saucy, generous portion (about a cup). Good texture, and I'd order again. For the medium dish, I tried chiu-chow dumplings for the first time and discovered I don't care for them. The filling is mostly ground pork, and the dumpling wrapper is too thick for the tablespoon of filling. Would not reorder. To complete the trifecta, I got the shrimp rice noodle roll, which I'd been craving...but it didn't hit the spot, unfortunately. It comes with three rolls (two shrimp each) but hardly any flavor. I really wanted to love this place. It has been over a month since I've had real Chinese food. The last time was in Seattle Chinatown. I found this place on yelp and it had good reviews and the pics of the food looked good. The ha gow (shrimp dumplings) skins were gummy and bland. The shrimp were ok, not very flavorful. The feung tschow (chicken feet) were ok. But the texture was a little off and the flavor just wasn't there. The salt and pepper shrimp were the best thing that I had. The shrimp were fresh, the flavors were good. I would recommend this for sure. The steamed ribs with black beans were ok. Nothing great. But good. The daan tat (egg tarts) were just ok. The flavor was just not there. The crust was a little dense. The cha siu boas were the worse thing I had. The bread was bland, the cha siu filling was skimpy. But I didn't mind because I didn't eat them. I ended up throwing away two of them. The ha cheung (shrimp with rice pasta) was ok. The shrimp were not really great. Borderline mealy on the texture. The jasmine hot tea was so disappointing. It was a tea bag and even after steeping for 5 minutes, I asked for another one because it just tasted like hot water. Even after putting the second one in, it was barely tea. I noticed that it was very bad quality tea bag. Not even fragrant when smelling it dry. The tea bag was full of tea leave dust. Not even good quality. I know some people would have been ok with the quality, but I will not be going back. read more

What a cool experience. The food came out fresh, hot and delicious which is a great combination. I believe this to be a great find of a restaurant especially since I normally only eat New Mexican cuisine when visiting ABQ. We were excited to find a dim sum place in town and wanted to give it a try. We were greeted as we walked in and saw that half of the tables had asian customers who looked happy - all seemed like a good sign from the start. There is a good variety & selection on the menu. We ordered our usual go tos: pork shumai, shrimp har gow, pan fried chives, chinese broccoli, beef rice noodle, baked egg tart, mushroom shumai, steamed chicken feet, curry rice noodle roll, sweet tofu. The food was great and made us feel like we had made it back to Houston Asia town again. Our 2 honorable mentions were the baked egg tart which was crispy and the sweet tofu which was a perfect balance of sweet and flavor. This is the only place we've found so far that has these 2 items on the menu. There were many other items that we wanted to try but could not this visit because we were stuffed - next time. My only negative was that the shrimp har gow was a little bit on the gummy side. I would give a 4.5 star rating because of this, but since that's not an option I'm happy to give them a 5 star review because it was barely an issue. Everything else was good! We're so happy to have a place that carries some hard to find asian food items that we miss. The service was friendly and attentive and there was a good vibe. I'd love to give this place a really good review because the owner is lovely and the place has a nice vibe. Unfortunately I grew up in San Francisco and lived in the International District in Seattle and also Travelled to Vancouver BC all the time so I know good Dim Sum because I used to eat it all the time. We had some dumplings, the bbq pork and the rice rolls and with the exception of the pork, all of them were mediocre. The pork was good, though it's more like the oven roasrted char siu style than the Chinese take out style. The rolls were all gummy and seemed over steamed and the filling in almost of them was bland. I'm not someone who complains about MSG, in fact I use MSG at home often, but this food seemed like someone was dumping tubs of it in. It gave me that overloaded umami sensation on the back of my tongue. I don't want to make this be a comparison to cities that have dozen's of Dim Sum options because that wouldn't be fair. But honestly I can get frozen Dim Sum from the store that is better than this. It was very disappointing. If anyone knows a better Dim Sum place or even a regular Chinese restaurant that has some good Dim Sum choices, please message me. read more

I really liked IT Dimsum! Being in ABQ where Chinese food options are a bit limited, I appreciated IT Dimsum offering certain dimsum dishes for me to enjoy. Sure, it's not a place that offered so many dimsum options. Sure, there's no push carts for you to see and pick what you want. However, at least there are some dimsum staple dishes like rice noodles, lotus wrapped steam sticky rice, egg tarts, buns, shumai, fried turnip cakes and hagao for me to enjoy...while feeling nostalgic about all the cool dimsums I could get in Chinatown of a large metro city. The place is clean, prices are decent and not decorated like a typical Chinese restaurant. But it's good that it had plenty of parking spots for all the shops in the same area and the staff was nice. read more

Not sure where to begin with this review. I had been looking forward to trying the food here for some time now and upon arrival and reviewing the menu I was very impressed with their offerings. But one never knows if the menu descriptions match the actual food, so I decided to order a handful of items to try and perhaps add to the meal if the items ordered come out as described. I ordered the following: 1. Fried smelts - they were crisp. It lacked seasoning (which seemed common with all the rest of the order); 2. Chicken feet - a hint of sweet with some fermented black beans, but overall bland and lacked garlic and spices; 3. Shrimp pasta tofu - perhaps was supposed to be "Shrimp Paste on Tofu" also bland; 4. Two combo bbq plate - this one was the kicker! I selected the roasted duck and the poached chicken as my two meats, and just from the looks of it when served ... I already knew I wasn't going to be adding any more items to my order. The duck looked like it was taken from the refrigerator and thrown into a fryer to reheat ... dry and hard. Nothing about the appearance hinted that it was ever roasted. The cut of the chicken was part of its back bone with some ribs attached, so practically bone and some skin. I do t think I had ever been offered a plate of food that looked sadder than this combo plate of pieces of skin with bones and meat that was fried to death ... desert sand seemed moister than the violated piece of refried duck. Nothing on that plate even remotely suggested for me to attempt a tasting of it. I informed the server that I had no intention of paying for that sad plate of food. In all fairness, after voicing my disappointment of receiving a plate of chicken bones, dried duck (also mostly bones) and rice, I was asked if I wanted to order a replacement, but at that point I already sampled the rest of the order and didn't think that ordering additional items would improve the taste. So I kindly declined. Management may want to spend some money in researching - even traveling to places outside the state - to sample the flavors of real dim sum. If you're going to offer and call it authentic dim sum, then do it right. Just because the population in these parts don't know the authentic taste, doesn't mean you should take short cuts and offer substandard food. Ambiance is modern and fun, menu pictures look great, but the actual food is a sad representation of anything dim sum. Frozen generic dumplings from the Asian stores have better flavor. For those wondering if I left gratuity ... yes I did leave 20% for the server who was kind enough to ask if I wanted a replacement and was very attentive. But the chance of me returning ... very slim to none. read more

I've eaten at lots of small hole in the wall Dim Sum spots for breakfast / brunch. From NYC to San Francisco. I'm use to very inexpensive dim sum for a large amount. I grew up in northern Jersey so access to Dim Sum in NYC was very easy. My favorite spot was in Flushing, NY. ANYWAY! Now, when I see Dim Sum, I find restaurants over charge for tinnnnyyyy amounts of dumplings. Here they charge a lot for 3 to maybe 4 dumplings....and they don't taste "out of this world". The dumplings are just okay. So if it's delicious dumplings you're looking for I would recommend Tasty Noodles & Dumplings on San Pedro. IT DIMSUM is quite overpriced for tiny portions. I wish I could share my dim sum experience virtually so people understand what a true dim sum experience is like. read more

Based on my personal flavor preference I would have rated this 4.5 stars but I had to take our entire parties opinions as well and it was an overall 5!! The size of this establishment, from the outside, looks small but it is a great sized space with plenty of room for all. We were greeted and served by the very friendly and helpful Icy. Exceptional customer service! Even at our visiting time of 2:30 there was a steady flow of people dining in or picking up to-go orders. We were given a laminated menu and a dry erase marker to circle which items we would like to order. We collectively decided to order Baked BBQ Pork Bun, Deep Fried Meatball, BBQ Pork Rice Noodle, Fried Shrimp Ball, Shrimp Fried Rice and Stir Fried Rice Noodles. I love that every item was brought out as it was prepared and there was plenty of everything and made sharing very easy. My absolute favorite was the Stir Fried Rice Noodles!!! Set in a small mall in Albuquerque, about 15 minutes away from the ABQ airport. The exterior had the mini-mall bland but the inside has a bit of a mid-modern decor with seating appropriate in the big L-shaped space. Immediately greeted and seated. Sunday at 11:00AM. Open everyday except Wednesdays. Staff speaks both Cantonese & Mandarin. We ordered up dim sum right away so we could make it back to catch our flight. Their menu are pictures with names of items in English & Chinese calligraphy. What I liked was using erasable markers to circle what we want, put the order in then wipe the menu clean for next customer's use. Eco-friendly. We started with their recommended house green tea. We each had our own pot of tea which was different and rather nice! * Har gao - fav, very good. * Shrimp rice noodle (cheung fun) - fav and is a must order. * Chinese broccoli w/oyster sauce - always a fav, wished for a bit more oyster sauce. * Sticky rice in lotus leaf - perfect serving for two people. Good flavors. American bacon in it threw me off but would order again. * Bean curd skin roll stuffed w/pork - fav and would order again * Curry beef tendon - really really good. Curry sauce made me forget a few pieces were not that tender. Would order again. * Pan-fried chive Dumpling - plenty of chives, pork but no shrimp. I liked this and would order again. Dining companion missed the shrimp. * Pan-fried Daikon cake - looked great and tasted great but texture was a bit off, almost jello-like. * Steamed chicken feet - fav and will always order. Flavor definitely made up for lack of sauce. All in all, enjoyed and was pleased with our Albuquerque dim sum lunch! Staff was warm & welcoming and attentive. The way you order is very easy. Food comes out quickly. We ordered the steamed pork dumplings and the beef rice noodle were the best! The baked bbq pork bun was okay. Bun was delicious and very soft but not much meat filling and also lacked flavor. We also got the dumpling noodle soup that was very good. The only thing I would change is the dumpling filling was shimp. I think pork would've given the broth more flavor. Sweet cream buns are a good treat for desert. read more

You Dim Sum, You Lose Some We arrived in ABQ a little after noon on Christmas Day, and we were hangry, to say the least. We had spent literally hours the days leading up to our journey trying to find a non-chain restaurant that would be open to get our first meal in New Mexico and get this vacation off on the right foot. IT DIMSUM was literally the only one that we found, and that was fine by me. #GodBlessAsians The Good: *Friendly and fast service *Legit menu full of the usual assortment of dim sum dishes *For the most part, most of the dishes were done well. If you've never had Dim Sum before then, this is a great place to get started! The flavors aren't as strong, and the dishes are small and cheap enough that ordering a few things to try out won't break the bank. *Great prices (please note I'm from the Bay Area, so my reality is a little different) *I love their ordering system by circling the dishes on the menu. It's fast, efficient, and guaranteed no screw-ups. *Congee wasn't bad! Needed a little salt (soy sauce did the trick) and was very comforting. The Meh: *XLBs were kinda pathetic, and all three stuck to the parchment paper, releasing all their soupy goodness into the abyss below. :( *Egg tarts were decent but all crust and not much eggy center. The Ugly: *They charged for tea. I know I'm sounding old, but back in my day, *pulls up pants by the beltholes and gives self a moose knuckle*, they used to give away tea at Chinese restaurants complimentary. I figured it was just a greedy Bay Area thing, but I see everyone is doing it now. TLDR: Unfortunately, I'm from the Bay Area, and I've eaten tons of this stuff throughout the years, so I'm probably pickier than most. However, I found it to be passable in a pinch. Now, would they last in The Bay? Hmm... maybe as a quick, cheap option in a less "ethnic" part of town but not as a serious legit Dim Sum place. Overall: Although dim sum is in the name, the dim sum was subpar, but there may be some home it the normal rice/noodle entrees. Service is good though! Food: 2 Har Gow: The wrapper was super thick and gummy (big no). Shumai: This a dumpling with pork and shrimp. I appreciate the juiciness of the meat and the big chunks of shrimps, but the filling was missing the mushrooms normally in it. I feel like the mushrooms adds umaminess and texture that this is lacking. Chiu Chow Dumplings: The wrapper was again too thick and gummy. Egg Noodles with BBQ Pork: Their noodles are more reminiscent of shin ramen noodles than traditional Chinese egg noodles, but I don't mind that. The BBQ pork had good flavor. The soup comes out piping hot! Service: 5 The servers were both very nice and attentive. IT DIMSUM, such a wonderful surprise! Before we moved to Albuquerque five years ago, we live just outside of Boston. Boston has a wonderful Chinatown where we came to be great lovers of dim sum. Although there were some amazing food here, Albuquerque is not exactly known for its Asian cuisine. I can't believe that we waited so long to come and try this place. The restaurant is clean, the services is quick, friendly and efficient. The food is ordered from a visual menu and delivered hot to your table as it becomes ready. We will be back. Out of all the food I ordered, the pork shumai was the worst I have ever had. It was tough, extra chewy, and pink on the inside that I ended up spitting it out. The fried shrimp puff and balls were flavorful. I do not recommend the daikon cake, tastes like mush. I was so excited to try this place but I can definitely make tastier shumai at home. I have pluses and minuses to this place. Overall I had a two fairly good experiences, but non-vegetarians would be able to enjoy it much more, and I'm reviewing as the vegetarian that I am. Faves: the baked goods- the egg tarts are so good. The red bean sesame balls and stuffed bao buns are good. I also enjoyed the big homemade noodle with a brown savory sauce, though it is quite simple. Couldn't there be one with tofu, fake meat, or veggies? I do not like the limited options for vegetarians, including several things that could be made vegetarian but aren't. I'd like to be able to get the congee, the soup, and potstickers and dumplings for sure! I had to ask about ingredients in several things on the menu. Most of what I'm able to get is the more dessert items, which doesn't make for the best meal. The Chinese broccoli is very tough and flavorless. I didn't like the Jello dessert, which I also didn't realize when ordering probably has gelatin, as it was listed as mango pudding. read more

We came here for dim sum since we haven't had dim sum for a good while. The service was pretty good. The inside was nice as well, looks a lot modern and not so much dim sum compared to other places I've been. The food was good, but not quite good enough. The bbq steamed buns and the sticky rice were much smaller than other places. The bbq baked buns also did not contain much filling. The salt and pepper shrimp didn't have much flavor. Really mediocre food and terrible service. First of all, the hot tea tasted like dishwater. The pot wasn't rinsed and the tea was stale. It was terrible! I can get better Dim Sum from the grocery store. I was mostly ignored after my order was taken and the food too a long time to serve. Even if you aren't familiar with the offerings, the menu has pictures and something for everything. Dim sum is also nice in that it really is an eating style that offers room for tasting everything, similar to tapas. You get a ton of bang for you buck here, basically on opportunity to feast for reasonably cheap. I also love that they have a good selection of savory and sweet dishes. I'm from New York and I was just dying for some REAL Chinese food so I tried this place. I was very pleased. Delicious hot green tea cleansed my palate between dishes. I ordered the cold seafood salad - traditional and delicious. I ordered Curried beef tendon! I expected it crunchy, but it was soft, almost slimy in texture like an oyster Mild yellow curry made it yummy. Next, Bean Curd Skin rolls - imagine using thin slices of tofu to wrap around a piece of pork and some veggies, then boiled and finally topped with a neutral sauce. It was very different - soft, not at all crunchy, but good. It tasted like pork and tofu. Last, the scallion dumplings- pan fried so they had some crunch, also tasty though I needed dipping sauce so I used chili paste, sometimes just a bit of soy. Overall, for $22 I had a fabulous meal in a clean well lighted modern cafe Near Paseo and Wyoming. I only wish that served appetizer-sized portions of the soups (I would like to try them all) instead of entree-sized. And I would have liked a small serving of Chinese broccoli - again only available in a large, table sharing size. It would also be nice to have something crunchy- but I haven't tried everything yet. From a Houstonian, with plenty of dim sum to choose from, this sure hit the spot! The food was fresh and great quality. Nothing felt like not the usual. The service was prompt and quick as well with wonderful suggestions! This definitely satisfied our craving while we were out of town visiting. My favorite dish was the large stir fried flat rice noodles and the flat rice noodles with shrimp. The shrimps were huge btw too! I just can't wait to come back again because I'm dying to try their black pepper shrimp! But I love the har gow I get it every time. The pork steamed dumplings were great. What you see is what you get and I haven't had a bad dish yet! I haven't ordered any of their actual whole dishes because I love the dim sum so much but I would highly suspect they're just as delicious. read more
