We used to live in the Bernalillo area and ate at Guang Dong about once a month. Service was good, and the restaurant was clean. We never had a bad meal. We weren't very adventurous, though, usually opting for Mongolian or Szechuan beef or one of several of the typical chicken dishes. I also like that they have some good veg options. read more

So you cannot sit inside this place, it is take out only and limited hours. Another place that can't get enough workers to fully open. Sad state of affairs we are in these days. Used to come here before pandemic but with pandemic close to over they should reopen the inside. They have a motion sensor so they know when you have come up for food. They still try to make you order quickly, lol you're not inside so why worry. The food has always been good here I hope it still is. I'll let you know. Only take out, restaurant has not reopened. Soups are very tasty. Disappointed with the shrimp with vegetables. Small shrimp and several times vegetables are not fresh. Came here for an early dinner, ordered combo dinners. Egg flower (drop) soup was deliciously seasoned with rich chicken flavor, (not too salty as many places). The combination dinners are generously portioned, we were too full to eat everything. (Leftovers were yummy the next day.) Our server was a sweet and pleasant as could be, so I'm not sure about the other negative or lackluster reviews for this restaurant. Simple and quick. If you want Chinese and in the area. Stop by for a lunch special (recommend hot and sour over egg drop) $5.95 gets you soup, fried rice, egg roll (have meat in them) and main dish. The detailed review (for those on the fence) Food is really good here and as someone that was coming for socal I didn't have high hopes but was presently surprised. This place would have gotten 5 stars but they do not have crab rangoon. The egg rolls have ground pork in them, was not for me. However half the people at the table liked the egg rolls have did not care for them. Fried rice was average. Standard yellow with egg, nothing fancy. Beef and broccoli was a hit as was my chicken lo main. Noodles were cooked to perfection, couple of the pieces of chicken were dry (quality of the meat) rest were tender and delicious. The flavor of the sauce was amazing. Egg drop soup was average, hot and sour soup is the best I have had out here in New Mexico excluding P.F. Chang's which is chain. Overall very good food. I had not been here in years, but we use to stop here after a round of golf at Santa Anna. Unfortunately it was not like I remembered it. It had some good things but the quality has slipped. I should have listened to the reviews and chosen a different place for dinner. I ordered a combination dinner and they ask you if you want crispy noodles for your soup and then neglect to tell you that they're going to charge you $2 for said noodles. I ordered sweet and sour chicken which was odd. They batter and fry a chicken breast it seems like then slice it into pieces so the pieces aren't coated all the way around like it normally is and the coating was falling off. The sweet and sour was also very bland. Tasted very watered down. When I asked for a side of sriracha I was told it was a charge for which I have never heard of being charged for a side of sriracha before. Fried rice was also very bland. They are very amenable to customizing my order to fit my diet and tastes. As a vegan, I usually order Broccoli and Tofu in Curry Sauce, family-size Vegetable Soup, Mixed Vegetables and Tofu Chow Fun, and Vegetable Egg Rolls. None of these are on the menu, but they are very helpful in making sure I get what I want. I'm an aficionado of authentic, regional Chinese cuisine and that colors my review. The food served at this restaurant is okay and the service is friendly but far below the average I've experienced on the West Coast. Should I give the restaurant a higher rating because it's in Albuquerque rather than Los Angeles? Well, that's not the way I do things. So about our meal... Wonton soup - fresh made wontons - points for that - but the dumplings were made with egg roll skins and had an unusual form and texture. Clearly the cook was taking a short cut. Tasty though. The broth was fine. BBQ pork - tossed with an unsavory sweet sauce. The pork itself was fine. Potstickers - these were a big disappointment because they where deep fried and thus not potstickers at all. Potstickers are pan fried on one side until crunchy. Water is then added to the pan and it is covered so the dumplings steam. They often stick to the pot when removed. Deep frying the dumplings is an inexcusable shortcut that diminishes the taste and creates an unhealthy version of a pot sticker. Chow fun noodles with chicken - this was the best dish and typical of what is served in a solid Cantonese restaurant. Bottom line... The restaurant is okay in a pinch but below average. read more

I don't usually frequent this place often, but when I'm feeling sick, I come for their egg drop soup and the chicken chow menu with sweet n sour pork. Huge servings! that is the only thing I've ever ordered on the menu and will continue to come for only that one specific dish. I swear, after I eat that when I'm feeling sick, I feel a lot better. Forgot my lunch at home this morning so I headed up the road to Guang-Dong and ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch combination (L13) for take-out. Staff member that took my order was friendly & efficient. Offered me bottled water while I waited. Yes and thank you - I was parched. The egg roll was good but nothing to rave about. It was, however, nicely crisp and didn't ooze frying oil. Next visit I will remember to ask for hot mustard & duck sauce. The bag contained soy sauce, napkins and plastic cutlery but no condiments for the egg roll. The Egg Flower soup was thick & tasty and the fried rice was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The Mongolian Beef was delicious - spicy but not overly so - and generously portioned. Perfectly cooked beef with scallions, onions, several slices of jalapeno, red pepper pods & red pepper flakes on a base of crispy rice (?) noodles. Lunch combo prices were in line with similar restaurants in Albuquerque. I enjoyed my lunch and look forward to trying their Szechuan Pork, Twice Cooked Pork, Lemon Chicken and Mongolian Chicken. read more
