I'm always on the lookout for a really good authentic Chinese restaurant, and the red chili House does it? I must say I enjoy the food when I come here the service isn't always that great but I don't know, maybe that is just the way the establishment is. The spicy tofu is out of this world the spicy boiled fish in red chili sauce made my day. I don't know what type of fish they use, but it melts in your mouth and is so tasty. Spicy beef is perfect has a good kick and if you ask for it to be even more spicier, they can do that. I do have to say, though whatever you try on the menu, you will like it. read more

This place offers authentic Chinese food! I felt like I hadn't had good Chinese food for a long while and this place delivered! The place looks unassuming from the outside (looks like a nothing store with poster plastered all over it in the Petroglyph Plaza, same area as Smith's on Golf Course). But inside is pretty welcoming! The only things were..I was dining with a friend..and we didn't get chopsticks (we both aren't Chinese)...but don't we deserve ones?!?! I finally had an opportunity to return to Red Chilli House, 8 months after my first visit. This time I went with 4 friends, so we got to try several dishes. Again, everything was a revelation. The atmosphere and service were wonderful, and every dish was amazing. We had wonton in chili oil, chicken potstickers, shrimp spring rolls, house rice noodles, chicken fried rice, sesame chicken, eggplant with garlic sauce, and dry-fried string beans. This place felt very authentic. We started with the spicy wontons; they were a little soft but the flavor was legit. One of the servers, likely an owner, came by and swapped out my chopsticks for a spoon which felt abrupt but absolutely the best way to be eating them. Both noodle dishes were flavorful and well prepared. A little extra soy sauce really boosted the flavor but I appreciated neither dish was overly salty. Red Chilli House occupies a former sushi restaurant on Golf Course Rd. The service was excellent and their Sichuan offerings are sublime. We ordered wontons in red chile oil. The wrappers were as light as any I've had in San Francisco, New York, or Shanghai. We also ordered the grilled fish (grass carp?). The sauce was so flavorful that I could have eaten it as a soup. The accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the fish was firm, moist, and just flakey enough. We will be back! read more

Stepped in for the third time yesterday. Clean, cozy and while it was very busy and only one person serving (stress!), the service was friendly. I tried something new this time: sesame chicken. My husband had General Tso's. We also had spring rolls and a cup of egg drop soup. Each of us had a Sapporo with our dinner. Egg drop soup was first, served with crispy wonton strips. Very tasty, a little thicker than I like, has peas and carrots. Spring rolls were not hot or crispy enough for me, my husband liked them. We had the vegetable variety. To me, lacked much flavor. The sesame chicken was cooked perfectly. It was a bit sweeter than I've had before. But good. I tasted my husband's GT entree and loved it. Perfectly sweet and spicy, chicken was well cooked. A good stop for lunch before setting off on a hike to the Petroglyphs. We picked things off the menu since I'm not sure if they had a daily special. The Wontons in Chili Oil were good & spicy! The Singapore Mei Fun was full of proteins (beef/chicken/shrimp) with a nice rice noodle curry sauce. All the food we have had here is excellent. The service is friendly. Before when they made soup dumplings I was able to take Frozen ones home. I think there are multiple accounts for this business because I've reviewed it before. My husband got a shrimp dish and it was delicious. We weren't a fan of having the shells on the shrimp because most of the seasoning was on them. We went back after they stopped serving soup, dumplings and had other delicious dishes. It's also in a great shopping center so we'll sometimes make a date day out of it and go to Ace hardware and Smith's and get pedicures. The next time we go I plan on trying the mapo tofu which is something I really enjoy. I had Dan Dan noodles and was kind of surprised that they were rice noodles instead of wheat but it was still delicious. They have a pretty large menu so there's a lot to try! read more

Sliced fish in red chili soup with bean sprouts and greens, it was hot, so hot but tasty. We poured it over rice to calm it down. A side of Bok choi was perfectly sauteed - not too much garlic. This was more than enough for two of us. We washed it down with a large sake. We watched other food come out, it looked great. This is not your average local american/chinese mush. This place is more authentic of the szechuan places in the big cities. Service was attentive, English limited. There is a problem with the ballast on one of their lighting fixtures over the bar which is very distracting. Perhaps if enough of us mention it then it might get fixed. Red Chilli House's Szechuan food is as good or better than most of the excellent Chinese restaurants I used to frequent in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has salt and pepper fish, which is incredibly hard to find in New Mexico, and it was splendid. My nephews had the spicy chicken, and one of them (who lived in China for three years) thought it was absolutely fantastic. This place is very authentic Asian food. They separate their menu with traditional Chinese from American Chinese. The food was very tasty, my wife and I had American Chinese dishes, I had the orange chicken and it was the the best I've ever had, cooked with actual orange rind into the sauce, which made the flavor bold and delicious. My wife had the Mongolian beef and noodles which was also very good. The only thing that was odd was that the restaurant was painfully quiet, everyone was whispering and it made for a strange dining experience. I also saw that other Yelpers mentioned this in their reviews. It's like the personality of the owners permeated the atmosphere and everyone in the restaurant had to be almost solemn. Let me just start by saying: yummmy! I can't believe that I've never tried this place and/or that something this delicious is just down the road. I had scoped it out once on Yelp, but never got around to trying it. What I remember seeing was that it was a bit pricey. About that... the plates here are around $15 average but they are huge. Enough to feed two people easily. They have some higher priced house specials, but I am 100% sure they are worth the price for both flavor and portion. The food here is probably the best Chinese food I have eaten in my 37 years on this earth. It's hard to even explain, but you know that they have their stuff together here and it is not the sauce covered/semi greasy food you get at other places. It is really unique and delicious. I almost didn't want to write this review because it was really calm and not full when we went. But that also made me write this review in that I would not want them to close because they didn't get the well deserved business they need. The service is awesome and the ambience is very calming. We loved our waitress. She was nice and even gave us extra egg drop soup to go for the kiddos. Try this place! You will not regret it. When it comes to food I can be adventurous but sizzling kidneys, beef & intestines in chili oil or pork lungs didn't sound appetizing. So we move to the other part of the menu. Pork Buns appetizers, Mongolian Beef and General Tsao entrees were today's selection. Food is served family style so we can try a little of both. The Gen Tsao chicken was flavorful with moist meat, my only complaint was I would have liked more sauce on it. The Mongolian Beef was thin sliced, tender and nicely seasoned. The Thai tea was watery & bitter lacking sweetness. Again lots of food to enjoy for another meal, including the pork buns. Stopped in for lunch today. Very nice, clean, comfortable place. They had regular offerings like you'd find at a Chinese place, but also more traditional dishes as well. Husband got house noodles, and customized them to be spicy. I ordered the more traditional Diced Kung Pao chicken, which had a most delicious after-burn of the Szechuan pepper! The food here is excellent but the Bao is trash... it's like a tiny westernized meatball inside steamed bread.

I spent more money (significantly more, twice as much) to go here for my orange chicken instead of Panda Express and it was in no way worth that. The chicken skin was soggy, zero crunch to it. The inside of the chicken was dry, tasted like days old chicken. Definitely in no way fresh. The fried rice was the best part, it was fresher than Panda but also nothing special. Very disappointed- wish I could do a return, honestly but unfortunately eating out you just take that gamble since there's no way I can return it I'm just out over $20. The food was very fresh and very good, the only issue was the prices, I really wanted to try the fish,but $45 for fish that comes with rice? In my opinion it was too much to pay at a strip mall restaurant. I hope they do well maybe we will check them out again.
