Last minute decision on Monday night to eat out, and we excitedly chose our neighborhood Genki. We made a bad choice. We dined with little roaches, beetles, and some other crawling insects we didn't recognize at table 14 in the far left corner. You know once you are aware of something you really can pick up on it...scanning the room we saw more on the floor crawling under our table and by the ice cream freezer. I'm not one to make a seeing a bug a big deal, but I wouldn't be over exaggerating by saying they have an infestation at the moment. Needless to say we didn't order our usual items and cut the experience short. We let the cashier know on our way out and she said, "oh yeah, we are waiting for someone to take care of that." So that tells me management and owner is aware, yet is still open. FYI if you decide to dine here in the near future... beware, and maybe request to sit in the middle area so you can possibly avoid what we experienced. I'm sad this happened. read more

Takes forever to get any type of food and not steady flow of food coming and unprofessional

Went in tonight with my family for dinner. There was a wait but it didn't last too long. Maybe 15 minutes at most. Got seated and was greeted quickly and our drinks were taken. We had asked for water along with our sodas and never received the water. We had to ask another server for water which we received right away. Our initial server never checked up on us to see if we needed refills on the soda, instead she was distracted by one table that seemed to be her family. I ordered assorted vegetable tempura and never received it. Waited for about 15 minutes and asked the other server if it was coming and she had to put in the order because the initial server took it and gave it to her family's table. Very poor customer service on the initial servers part. Not to mention that when I was taking my niece to the restroom it was locked so we waited and tried to knock on the door but the initial server turns around from the window and says "if it's locked there's someone inside" with a very rude and sassy tone. My poor niece turns to me and goes "she's mean", so already it was a bad start. The lady Grace had voided my tempura on the check but when it came to the table the other server packed it for us to takeout. Those two were very nice and accommodating which I appreciate. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning even though I would go there frequently. However I appreciate Grace and the other server for being understanding of the situation and trying to turn it around. read more

Came in with my friends and we didn't even get greeted when we walked in. Waited about 5 mins before someone actually came to us to help us. Our waiter was quite nice however and he took care of us pretty well. & our food came out pretty quick. The lights on the other hand kept flickering while we were eating our food and it was really bothersome. read more

Location: They are located at the Ewa Beach Shopping Center next to Starbucks and Subway. There are a lot of parking at this shopping center. Food: They have a wide variety of sushi but the selection on the belt is minimal. It's best to order what you want instead of waiting for it to come on the belt. The amount of fish they give on the sushi isn't as much as other places. My family loves ordering the platters for special occasions. Price: The price is more (around $0.50-$1.50 more) compared to other conveyor belt sushi restaurants. Service: The service is quick and attentive. Ordering out takes 5-10 minutes and 15-30 minutes for the platter. It doesn't take long for orders when you done in. Discount: They offer military discounts Monday thru Thursday. Overall, I'm glad there is a sushi place in Ewa Beach. It's better than grocery store sushi. read more

Food is good like usual, but we wanted to see what the hype was on the new robot server. Everything was served by a human server to our table with the exception of one dish (well, 2 when you count the dish the server put on the bots tray when it was already at our table for delivery). To send the bot back, you push ok on the face screen, but if you're short or it stopped a little far from the table, you will have to stand up to push the button to send it back. Service this way appears to be slower since a different person (not the prepper) has to grab the plates from the service window, put them on the robot tray, and then send it off to the table. I suppose I am just not a fan of the bot. Maybe because we had only one interaction with it during that 45 minutes, we were there. But to me, the train style at the other locations really is more enjoyable to watch as it whizzes by with peoples orders and then returns. 3 stars for the robot, 5 stars for the workers trying their best to make it work and get the food to people's table. read more

Love the variety Genki Sushi has here. They have lots of none sushi items (chicken katsu, udon, spam, etc). Their dessert menu is increasing in variety too! Great place to eat when you want sushi but your kids want chicken katsu. They kept the belt full at all times and the sushi looked fresh. I used to work at a sushi restaurant and Ive seen some places where you know certain dishes has been sitting out longer than it shouldve. Yelp 365 Challenge #74/365 I'm a big fan of Ninja Sushi but our friends talked me and my honey into going to Genki Sushi with them and their children. So, we dragged our children as well. Mind you, all our kids are young adults minus their youngest daughter who is 7 years old. This Genki Sushi location is within the Ewa Town Center and the parking is pretty good for the restaurant especially if you need to go to Longs or Foodland afterwards. Dessert? There is Orange Tree! Anyhow, they shared they liked eating at Genki's BUT it was pretty pricey for them. I found out the reason why... Different colored plates means different prices Yellow = $1.50 Red = $2.80 Green = $2.20 Gray = $3.80 Black = $4.80 And by each of our friends as we ate...the plates got higher...and higher...like a beauuutiful colored rainbow... I think because it was our first experience...for our family? We paid less than $25 for a party of FIVE and its because my twins are picky eaters while my daughter chose the spicy tuna and my husband chose the poke bowl. For myself? I love inari sushi and the garlic chicken. Throw in some edamame and I'm relaxed. If I had to choose between Genki Sushi and Buffets? I most likely would choose Genki because it wouldn't be a waste of food for me since the portions are just right for me to where I can moderate and watch what I eat. read more

After many visits, I can honestly say I haven't had one bad experience. Parking is never an issue. We're always seated immediately, and they take our order shortly after. My Genki go-tos are always the garlic salmon, garlic ebi, ika karaage, and the shogun roll. I always find myself a little cold at this location (which I have no problem with) so I usually wear a jacket or order tea to keep warm. We never have to wait long for our food on days we order instead of grabbing from the belt. I went from being a regular at Sushi Bay to being a regular here. We ordered online but when we got there at the designated time to pick up our order we were informed that they were backed up. We seen people ahead of us waiting as well. So I believe they were doing everything possible to keep both dine in and pick-up customers safe. My son and I went to Genki Sushi in Ewa Beach for a late lunch on Monday. We ordered Tobiko, Soft shell crab, Soft shell crab rolls, inari, and a Poke bowl. Everything, except the poke bowl, was fresh and flavorful. The poke was bland and had a gummy consistency. Not good. The service was really good, and there is always plenty of parking. I ate at this establishment a few days ago with a few friends and our experience there was quite smooth with one small incident. The waiter told the sushi maker that we wanted two plates of spicy tuna. We waited for quite a while (we were almost done) and we finally told them that we didn't get it. When we finally got our plate, I noticed that they placed it on a yellow plate. I'm glad that they gave us a semi-discount. Wished they would keep forgetting so I can pay cheaper for sushi :) In terms of the quality of food, it's the same as any other genki's. My favorite sushi here is the spicy tuna. Some days I go in, the color is bright red, other days, the color of the tuna is pale. I don't know if they are using old tuna. When I eat at any genki's I also order my calamari. This place is one of the few that don't run out of calamari. There was only one time that they did. I've noticed though (and this goes for all genki's I've visited) that the portions have gotten smaller. I've eaten here multiple times and during those visits had no problems whatsoever. The workers are always there refilling and asking what else we needed/wanted. If I am in Ewa and I have cravings for sushi, I will visit this Genki establishment. read more

There is nothing like Genki Sushi out there. I love the conveyer belt style and their color coded plates system. The choices that they have are always improving for the better. Whenever I'm here I shall have: garlic salmon, spicy tuna, and chicken karaage along with whatever else I feel like eating. The Ewa location is one of the newest ones, hence making it my favorite. The other ones are ok. TIP: Be sure to eat during the regular lunch or dinner hours for those are the times the food are fresh. Avoid going there between the hours of 2-5 ish, they just have the food on the conveyer belt, and it's ugly and tastes nasty.
