When I first entered and was waiting at the front, the host took the people in front of me, then it took him awhile to come to me. He asked if all the party was here. I said it's just the 2 of us and he's coming from the parking lot. We told him we wanted a table. He gave us a table. We compared this location to Kapolei. It seems this one has newer and updated things. It was cleaner. Bruh Genki stepped up their game since the last time Ive been to one which was super long ago. The food choices were bomb. The coolest thing that happened was that I dropped my takoyaki balls when removing them from the track and it fell onto the table and floor. The worker asked if he could replace it for me. Located in Waikele Shopping Center, this location has a tendency to be fairly busy during evening hours. You can join the waitlist online beforehand which is quite convenient and see your place in line live. There's some stalls located right outside but during peak hours you may have to park across the street closer to KFC and Lowe's if you wanna avoid the wait. Also some of the trees have birds that will splatter your car. This location has a decent amount of seating. This location has the Shinkansen train cars that deliver the sushi to your table. You order either through the waiter or on a tablet monitor. There are some specials on the board that aren't available so you have to ask the waiter to order. The tablet menu makes it so much easier to order but at the same time you may order wayy more food than you can eat haha The stuffed or spicy mushrooms have been a go to because you can't go wrong with fried mushrooms topped with spicy tuna. They give generous portions of fries if you want something filling. The garlic fries are unique with a sweet sauce topping but not much of a garlic taste. Overall Genki has a decent selection of sushi and sides such as miso soup and chawan mushi. The fish is not the best quality but it is quite conveniently located by the and Waikele Shopping Center and UFC gym. The quality of the food at Genki Sushi Waikele location went down significantly since we last went there 6 months ago. At opening they had no tempura sauce, no agadashi sauce, the salmon was mushy on the garlic salmon, the tempura batter and salmon bone coating was dark brown indicating the oil that it was fried in was old. I'm a cook myself and I can tell these things. We initially chose Kunio, but wanted to eat salmon bone so went to Genki. We would have had better value and quality of food at Kunio's. Recommend Genki Waikele get good people who can plan and prep food accordingly else they will continue to get poor ratings. Btw service was ok. read more

Quite sad experience. Gosh, this location has really gone wayyy down. My Family was craving for sushi, so Genki's for dinner it was. They no longer call out your name, you scan something and it'll tell you what your number in line is as it updates and counts down to your turn. Our 20 minute wait was more 40 minutes. But no biggie about that since we just shopped nearby. Our waiter had no idea what was on the menu. We asked for the kids meal, so we could get that going for our hangry kids. Finally we found it on the iPad and that one came first before the one we ordered with him. He asked us what we'd like to drink and then said oh sorry no fountain drinks. So water then? Lol He said we have apple and orange juice. Came back saying they ran out of apple juice. We ordered fries, they didn't have that. There were several other dishes they did not have that I can't remember. We finally won the game on the pad and he said he could take off a blue plate from our tab. We didn't have a blue plate so there wasn't anything else to win as a "prize" since they were out of that too. The spicy tuna roll was MAJOR skimp. 97% rice, nori, and 2 maybe 3 tiny chunks of spicy ahi. It was mostly sauce in there. Incidents: On those two separate visits, added to my bill were charges labeled "1 MISC FOOD", which I did not order. The first time it happened, I only noticed the extra MISC item after departing the restaurant since I take photos of bills and receipts for reimbursement. In that instance, I assumed it to be a mistake. What are the chances of the same thing happening a few weeks later to the same patron? Slim, I'd like to believe. First and last time coming here. Wait time was so long (hour) and there were so many open table even after we sat and finished our food. it took another hour to get our food and it wasn't even everything, they forgot some of our orders and charged us. There was also an employee in the back on her phone for the longest time while us customers were waiting to pay for our food. She was so busy texting she wasn't even paying attention. I have been to many Genki locations throughout the many years. I always had decent food at the Waikele location except yesterday. The pumpkin tempura was extremely oily and not flakey as usual. The server asked "How's everything?" I showed him the oily pumpkin tempura but he did said that's how it is. He should've at least taken one off our bill. We ordered two because we have always enjoyed it. The kitchen and manager should be aware of substandard food quality. Also, staff should be trained for guest complaints. Came here at around 1:10 and they told us it would be a 30 minute wait, it ended up being over an hour. There was A LOT of people waiting. It was very busy. I would be furious if i was someone else but during this hour, i got to just hangout side and chat so i guess i didn't mind the wait. When we were seated we immediately ordered, food came out super quick, it felt like 2 minutes when i got my teriyaki bowl. Then the rest of the food came quick. Service: The workers here are always so hard working. They're fast at their service and make sure things get done. They check up in you if you need anything else. My sister had requested a special order for the spicy ahi to be on top of the salad which they came through with. They were out of hamachi kama, but we ordered our usual items: garlic salmon nigiri, fried chicken wings, chicken karaage, udons, spicy tuna, tuna, and baked mussels and avocado makis. He was amazing. The food however was only 2 stars. This Genki Sushi has always been my go to location. I enjoy coming here because who's doesn't love sushi? And the prices here at Genki are just really affordable, I mean I can literally walk out of here feeling so full and satisfied without really breaking the bank. Genki Sushi operates and delivers food by using a train mechanism which the customers can control by selecting different food options using the tablet. This is so conveniently easy, and the sushi comes out pretty quickly. I prefer the train system over the old way of having the sushi on a assembly line for you to pick up and eat because, sometimes it felt gross picking up something off the line without really knowing how long it was sitting there, and I think this also saves them from having to waste sushi. Last night (Wednesday) we had a party of 4 come around 8pm, it was about a 10-15 min wait which isn't long compared to coming here on a Friday or Saturday night. The waitresses took our drink orders and let us get to it. I noticed that they lowered the price on some of the items for instance the fried green been sushi use to be a green plate but is now a yellow plate making it a little cheaper. I also noticed they added a new color who's is the blue plate which I believe is only $1.55, what a steal! I think this was a good move on Genki's part, cause how often do you see a restaurant lower the prices on their menu? There were at least 5-10 sushi that were bumped down in price. The sushi was delicious, and the fried foods came out hot and crispy. We had an occasionally mess up with getting a plate we didn't order but the waitress apologized and returned it to the kitchen, so it wasn't a big deal. Went here on a busy Saturday night and waited around 25 minutes for our party to get sat. Right off the bat the server let us know they that were sold out of tuna that night, except for the spicy tuna that's already chopped up. Kind of a bummer since tuna (ahi) is pretty much the main thing people get when people eat sushi but we didn't let that get us down since they had plenty of options to eat. This place didn't have the standard iPad to order the food, you will need to have access to a phone with internet since you have to scan a QR code to order everything. Good since it helps the customer to see what they ordered and what the bill is at if on a budget but not very good for people who aren't tech savvy or have access to phones / internet. Food was standard genki sushi quality. Only knocking off stars since my mom ordered chanwamushi right when we got to the table and we had to remind 2 servers to get it for us which we only received it after 55 minutes after being at the the table. The kicker is the Chan wa mushi is literally in a hot fridge at the front of the restaurant already to go so it's not like any one actually had to make it. They offer 10% military discount! I have visited this location multiple times and all my visits have been pleasant. I dined here last night (2/10/22) with my fiancé, her mom, and cousin. They have changed their check in process, you now scan a QR code inside to get put on the waitlist. I really like that they changed this virtually as now you get to see your place in line as well as get notified when to come back, that way you're free to walk around the area while waiting. The food is good, nothing that wows us. It just sucks that the prices are so high now, I used to get full of $20. However, ordering from the tablets are way easier. And you get your food delivered right to your table on the conveyor belt. We did get a lot of food and spent $100. The prices are so insane now, but I was satisfied with the food I did order. The service was great. The servers continually checked up on us and got what we needed. They also, checked for a item that was Sold Out, to see if they had more left. The food was good but the service not so much. I'm not even sure who was our server. I pushed the call button for help 6 times and finally the waitress showed up. Everything that could possibly have gone wrong went wrong. 1) they seat you and their website doesn't even work. Every time you pick something, it sends you back to the top of the home page and every order takes half your screen. It takes forever to get to what you want even with the navigation at the top. 2) we were 5th in line, half the restaurant was empty and they had 4 servers in yellow, two hosts in black, and one manager in red. Why did we even have to wait 3) I ended up ordering directly from our waiter (guy with glasses, black mask on and curly hair couldn't get a name) and ordered hamachi nigiri, sashimi, and a tuna bowl while my mom ordered ramen salad and tempura. Hamachi came out a little... stringy? Slimy? Otherwise the food was decent. 4) there's buttons to call a server and pay bill. I don't know why they have them because they don't work. No one refilled my water or tea until someone ended up coming along nearly 5-10 minutes after the button was pushed. There were maybe 10-15 parties in here tops. 5) I ended up paying for half the meal at the end. Didn't realize until I had a "wait a minute" moment outside that they didn't charge us for the whole order. We went back inside and had to tell the server what we ordered. I'm not 100% sure if we got the right half of the order in or the wrong one but I was too upset to say anything I just wanted to leave. Not a single employee apologized for anything that happened. Quick turn-around to be seated - check-in with QR Code at 11:23am, and our booth was ready by 11:30. Person who seated us asked right away about our drinks. Right after the hostess left with our drink orders, the server showed up to ask if we already had placed an order for drinks. I've been here many times, and I can recall maybe once or twice that the hostess would stop at the "Today's Specials" board to at least let us glance at it. I feel like every time I've been here in the past couple of months that they've stopped showing people the board, and just if you happen to notice it, you can read it yourself. Maybe they don't really want customers knowing their daily specials. I didn't take a picture of it on the way out just so I could share online for others to see. Otherwise service was good. Wanted something light for lunch while at the Waikele outlets so sushi sounded like a good idea. I haven't been to a conveyor belt sushi place in Hawaii since pre-Covid but I've been to ones in Washington a lot when we visit family. Surprised that now you order online by scanning a QR code and choose the item and add to your cart. No more choosing from the belt as it goes around but your order still does arrive via the little train. I got sticker shock though. Most of the nigiri sushi were $5-6 and only 2 small pieces. The fish was meh but it was made on order. The fried items arrived hot. I ordered 2 salmon nigiri and a fried garlic salmon. My bill came out to $14 plus. Tea was free. Service was friendly but minimal. I charged my meal but I got back 4 receipts! It looked like 2 was voided charges and the other 2 were the actual charge slips. Hmmm... wonder what happened. I'm going to check my credit account later. Guess I was spoiled by Kura Sushi in Washington which still had a full conveyor belt experience and very cheap prices. This is my close to home go-to Genki spot. There is a lot of parking, but in the weekends or week nights it can get a little crowded and busy that you will need to park you car a little further. It gets really busy at this location so I recommend calling in your order for pick up or placing an order online. I hardly dine in because it's too busy that the wait time can range from 10min-45min. It just depends on the time of day. If you would like to dine in, sign in and let the person at the front know how many people are in your party, everyone must be present. Present your vaccination cards and they will give an estimate of how long the wait is. They will also let you know to wait outside until you and your party is ready to dine in. I actually like this location because the quality of the food to me remains consistent. Just right amount of fish and rice. Sure the prices went up over time, but like I said this is my go-to for some spicy tuna sushi. They never fail me, I will not be surprised if they know my order by now. read more

Genki is Genki. We choose it because it's fast, simple and affordable. This location is usually clean and quick. Today was a disappointment and I definitely feel like we got what we paid for (it's pretty cheap which we love, but it's starting to show in the service, which we don't love). Genki is premised on quick service that is largely self directed and computer automated with robots and serving boats, but there is still staff interaction for beverages, your check, refills and soups and having this properly executed is key to an enjoyable meal, especially when choosing a place for a quick in and out. While it's largely counter service, and doesn't require a lot of service, the tipping aspect is still there and if I'm expected to tip, I expect service, which I didn't receive the last few times I ate here. If you're counter service and you don't want your staff to serve, pay them more and stop implying a need to tip. We tip 20% on almost all service but this time I had to drop it down to 15% which kind of bothered me, I much rather have tipped 20 and not have had to ask for everything we needed or watch other customers get up to go fetch their own napkins and needs. read more

We were nice still & asked the waitress about it, she came back and just gave us the only option of cancelling it giving us the assumption she checked with the kitchen. All syrup, 0 carbonation. If you want food you have to use yet another QR code. Mine wanted me to sign up and everything was greyed out but my sister was able to use her phone to order. I was about to put my order in when one of the staff decided to spray cleaning chemicals on both sides of us and after that all I smelled was that crap. Needless to say I didn't order and my sister ate the 2 things she ordered and we asked for the check. The check has a QR code on it but shockingly, thats the only QR code you can't use. At the front of course there are 2 employees chatting and taking a year to make change so I have to wait to pay for a meal I didn't even get to participate it.
