I've eaten here a couple times and every time I return, I go in hoping that maybe the last time was just a fluke because people talk about it with so much love but I think that's just because it's got a decent bar that probably a lot of locals and college kids have made some memories at. Fair. But I have to say.... the food is just bad. Overpriced and really generic flavors and careless preparation. I once ordered nachos and the cheese was shredded from a bag and below the top layer, jt was completely unmelted. That's a $15 dish! Offensive! This time I got a Ben's House salad that sounds delicious in its description but it's a bunch of completely raw vegetables chopped up and thrown on a plate. There's not even an included dressing. You have to pick your own? That's dumb? Also the black olives were completely missing. Not to mention every time I've ever been here, the waitresses have rushed me and my party out the door. Save your money. Go literally anywhere else (preferably not on University) or just stick to a basic a cheeseburger and beer. read more

After 3 hours on the thumping top deck, we needed some food to soak up the alcohol. We ordered an insane assortment of apps which did the trick! The potato skins were great... nothing unique but very tasty. The chicken tenders were great, the nachos were huge and very good, and the "beer sponges" (pretzels) were dry and mediocre (the beer cheese was awful- burnt tasting). For what it was, it did the trick filling up our bellies so we could make it to the UoA basketball game! read more

We ordered burgers which were very good. However, the service is a 1! No one greeted us, we sat ourselves and we didn't get waited on. We had to go inside to the bar to get menus. The bartender said she'd bring them to us. She told us our waitress was away. Get a manager here and provide good service! read more

It's a slower paced place most days but on concerts day it's a fun and safe environment. Being on the roof for a concert is always a fun elevated way to listen to you favorite artists. Bar is usually pretty quick and pretty friendly although can be pricey so find a good bartender! read more

I've been there maybe 100 times the past several years. Depending on what you order, the food is anywhere from good to very good. The service is a notch above, ranging from very good to excellent. We always treat the servers w/respect, engage them in conversation, & joke around a lot. Main reason we go is the service (and the patio). People who complain about the service may need to look at their own attitude. We've NEVER had bad service so if you have, then maybe it's a reflection of you own bad attitude. I ate lunch here yesterday with a friend. I had the plate of two (fairly large) shrimp tacos ($15.50), which came with rice and beans. The tacos were good, the rice and beans OK. I've been here a handful of times, each time, my liking seems to get less and less and I keep thinking it will change, but has not. The last time, maybe because it was not crowded with people at all. The service was slow and uncaring, and the food was Blah. We were a party of 3. We ordered drinks which took awhile to be deliver, plus the Buffalo Wings, Beer Sponges (2 large pretzels served with Nuclear Beer Mustard), and the Bare Burger. Again for the restaurant being empty, the food took awhile, long wait. Maybe it was our server. The pretzels were good, the wings were good but not hot in temperature and the burger looked blah what every happened to the lettuce tomato on top: presentation a bust (note it might help to cut the dead part off the lettuce end). There are options when on University and normally Gentle Ben's is a safe bet- not last night! In summary our 11 top experienced extremely slow service on drinks (40 min for a drink). Add to that a slow & inaccurate kitchen (food was not correct and COLD), and a staff that played the blame game. In fairness the bill was adjusted fairly by the GM Eric. The insane part to our group --everything was going poorly- then it all started getting fixed- the they never came back to serve more drinks or food. I had to stand up and walk around to find someone to provide a bill. Getting the bill consisted of them verbally giving me a total- no visibility to what I was paying for. At this point I just gave them my visa because we had Ubers waiting. The receipt they provided was missing proof of tip- and I had to ask for another receipt to make sure the server did receive her gratuity. The whole experience felt like it was a soft opening for a restaurant with no experience. read more

They did a good job here. We reserved for ten for brunch and they were able to serve us efficiently. The meals were high quality brunch items with fast service. We regretted that they didn't have a table set up for us and tried to split us into two parties for a birthday meal. There were other sections that they left closed meanwhile and it wasn't busy. That was not cool since we were there celebrate with our son and meet his friends and this placed the friends at another table altogether. We had to squeeze 10 adults onto an 8 seater high top and although they said they'd use the adjacent table once the party there left, they gave it away again. Aside from that, however, all was great., The price point was right on. The meals were a bit smaller than average ( but so is price) and didn't include a lot of the sides one comes to expect but you can easily add into your meal and still end up on point. (This is a bonus when you have girls along that don't eat much) The pancakes and burrito were plentiful meals though and frankly, all were enough. The sides were generous also. I think we liked everything there. The servers were fantastic and everything came fast and tasted good. It wasn't a busy day so we were grateful for this. The checkout was a breeze online and 20 % gratuity added upfront which made things easy also. I'd recommend the vanilla cream pancakes ( tasty with crispy edges) , potatoes, side salad with cilantro vinaigrette, and the burrito. All of these were excellent. Great spot in a cool looking area. Traveling in our 5th wheel and being able to explore new places is wonderful. Came with a sm van from our RV resort total 12 on a brew tour. This was the last stop and we all ate there. Food was really good, service was perfect and the waitress managed the large table really really well. The portions are large as well and several people split. We did and they brought us our food on 2 plates. No up charge either. Will definitely go back to eat and have a beer plus be able to spend time checking out the area. Close to Uni or Arizona. Highly recommend! read more

But not a place for food. We ordered a burger, caprese salad, and chicken tenders. Burgers here are cooked well done. As a matter of fact, they don't ask. The salad was doused heavily of balsamic glaze. I like balsamic, but in this case, too much. Tenders were just plain tasting. Even Chili's would taste better. Friend and I shared the Brussels and the beef and carnitas nachos. The Brussels were great. The nachos were like nothing I'd ever seen. From the get they looked awful. Dry, tasteless, very little cheese, with some awful sauce that was dried on to the chips. And it wasn't just us. I saw similar horrendousness being delivered to other tables. Our waitress Jo was great but a quick look at those nachos should have been her stop sign. Others at the table had salads and I think one had tacos. No one had good things to say. With so many decent places to eat in the area (downtown Tucson near U of A) we won't be returning. read more

First time here... Service was great. Clean restaurant. Food - the tequila-cilantro wings were delicious. Brussel sprouts appetizer yummy. Salad - disappointing. So much dressing the overabundance of oil made me gag. Too much blue cheese and not enough lettuce. We subbed the chicken for steak, but only got about a 3/4 cup of cubed gristle/meat. Super disappointing, especially when I was charged an extra $5.50 for the steak. I should have asked for a bowl of raw lettuce to add to the salad to enjoy it more. read more

Giant burgers. Tasty fries (normal, didn't try beer-battered). Good tacos. Teen kids had burgers and couldn't finish them. Wife had fish tacos, and I had avocado tacos. Portion size was right for us. Avocado tacos had fried avocado, giving them a tempura feeling, combined with a spicy mayo. Made for a good combination. Mid-week at 6:30pm, no problems with getting a table. Wait staff was attentive. Place started to get noisier as more college students showed up, but outdoor seating is also available. read more

Food is decent, tastes as expected but nothing over the top. Drinks are good and options expected. The new upstairs looks pretty cool and is great for watching sports. I came here to watch a sports game because of their million TVs- surely one of them can have my game on. After asking staff over and over to change the channel to ESPN 2, god forbid people enjoy a sport that's not "the big game" I had to flag down a manager on my own. Apparently his job is the holder of all remotes. Missed half my game. Very disappointed in how they handled that.
